Fun fact: in TF2 canon, the Scout, Jeremy, is said to be God's gift to women, as said by God himself, so his self-praise at 10:54 is, quite literally, just him telling Spy facts
"do they have alternate skins" and such... My dude, there's a reason TF2 is called "THE Hat simulator". It introduced the cosmetic loot box, basically. There are TOO many cosmetics in this game, where sometimes it actually can kinda fuck up a sniper's aim, because there's more hat than head. So yeah, there are way too many options of hats, cosmetics and miscellaneous to tell here
3:11, yep, this was meant to be the pilot episode for a TF2 Adult Swim show. Apparently the reason it never got made is that Valve couldnt hit deadlines.
God, I've said this before but I wish they had just outsourced the animation so it could get done faster. Somewhere out there there's a timeline with a full and proper TF2 animated series.
If you want more tf2 content there’s tons of fan films out there with quality on par with valve. I recommend the “How it feels to play ___” series by lazy purple for an intro into how the game works along with just stellar humor, animation, and editing. Another notable one is Emisis Blue, I wouldn’t recommend it for new tf2 fans but if you like good horror then it’s definitely for you!
I'm seconding the vote for Lazy Purple videos! They're well done, funny, and explain game mechanics in a way that's understandable for someone who hasn't played the game yet. I'd actually recommend watching them in the "wrong" order, starting with his Engineer video and then the behind the scenes spooky SFM video, just to get an insight in how it is to animate with Source Film Maker.
Also if one is going to react to LazyPur0le's "Meet the Team" videos it is also best to watch the extra videos. In some ways they are.more content filled than the mainline videos are they are awesome lol
17:21 Funnily enough, there actually _were_ plans to create alternative female characters for all the playable classes (and I don't mean it as in "Demoman but with tits", completely new characters who just happen to have the same role in the team), however those plans were sadly scrapped very early on in development. 22:15 You know, I'm kinda surprise they _didn't_ go with that joke, it would have been hilarious if in the next scene it zoomed out to reveal the bread monster had turned into a giant piece of toast (maybe even including a visual gag of Soldier spreading a bit of butter on it).
Oh, and Bread Monsters are arguably one of the more normal things in the world of TF2. This is an alternate history where almost every australian is super human and an immortal eldritch wizard who is often in debt to several mafias around halloween time is also just casually a former roommate of the Soldier, Among many, many, other oddities.
I have always loved the feeling of watching Soldier in this video just because he gives the same vibe as a dog with something unknown in its mouth or a child who has somehow acquired a sharp object
There's a few more, like the fan-created but officially recognized "End of the Line" and even some fan-made movie length animations like the horror movie Emesis Blue, and then there's the official comics. A few TF2 updates have official videos that go along with them too, like Mann vs Machine and Jungle Inferno. The Winglet on youtube made some really good ones like Live and Let Spy and he's also made some Meet the Team-style videos on specific unlockable weapons
I love your reactions to tf2 content! It's refreshing to have someone here who offers their actual thoughts on a video instead of waiting just for laughs and gags. I very highly recommend doing emesis blue next, it's an absolute masterpiece and something no one should miss when it comes to tf2 stuff!
20:06 "do they have PvE events like this?" Yes but actually no. They don't have PvE events like thisx but TF2 has two PvE instances: a whole gamemode called Mann Vs Machine, where you defend against waves of robots (its a lore thing, don't question too much), and the Halloween events where you can sometimes face off against a boss
Also about the bread monster, there's actually 3 or 4 itens based on the bread monster. Spy has a bread sapper, heavy uses them as boxing gloves, scout has it in a throwable jar to replace the item "Mad Milk", and Sniper also has one to replace his "Jarate" (aka piss bottles) too.
I really appreciate the way you react. Pausing the video and then rewinding a bit if you missed a line or wanted to hear something again. Too many people that react talk all over the video's dialogue and miss some of the best lines and jokes. Enjoyed this, subscribed:)
20:06 Now that is a very good question! PVE does exist in TF2, but it's called Mann vs Machine and it consists of one team fighting a bunch of robot versions of the 9 mercenaries (only play on a team of 6) and a bunch of boss versions of them with extra bits like tanks (that don't damage, only crush and move) and sentry busters (those poor engineers) However the tf2 community does know a bit how to make maps, and one time they did make a bread monster boss fight based on expiration date, but you can only access maps like this on community servers, not actual official matchmaking. But there are also some boss fights around Halloween, speaking of, Scream Fortress is live right now and some Halloween maps have bonus features like boss fights, spells, environmental pumpkins and much more, it's the craziest time to play the game every year. Really recommend playing TF2 especially at this time before the map rotation changes back to normal until next year.
There is unfortunately no other official stuff like this, but there is SO SO SO MUCH fan content to check out, ranging from serious to silly to terrifying to everything in between. A good place to start would be The Winglet' videos, particularly "The Fedora Chronicles" series. Crash Maul is also a pretty good gateway
While you don't get to fight the bread monster, you do get to drop a bomb down its throat in a payload map. As for more content like this, I highly recommend End of the Line; it was an amazing and well made short for an entire (albeit lackluster) update. I'd also recommend Lazy Purple's "How it feels to play" series to give you a proper feel for the gameplay itself.
Sadly enough, there are no more official animations for the game. Although, there are some awesome fan animations out there that are pretty much just as good. One in particular I will recommend is “Emesis Blue”, it’s long like a movie and is more serious with horror elements, but I 100% recommend it.
This was the pilot for a Adult Swim TF2 show, but they were told the had to make episode shorter to make room for commercials, and the Valve team just said nah and canceled the show lol
SPOILER WARNING I love that there are a bunch of tiny little details such as some of the characters doing things in the distance, the fact that when demo (short for demoman who is the drunk guy) teleported on the table the teleporter is still spinning around and is moving when he moves, and that you can see the numbers of their death watches counting down as they are doing things. I know that there are probably a bunch more details but those are the details that I can remember. Oh yeah sorry if this is like really annoying but there is a bunch of things that you can do in the game. Like you can change the appearance of the character with hats, clothes, and weapons. You can actually change the playstyle of the character by changing the type of weapon that the character is using. I ain't spoiling that but there are videos you can watch for that. Like well meet the item videos, the lazypurple videos, till death do us part, emisis blue but personally I think that one might be a bit overwhelming as you might need a notebook to write down every small detail, and so much more that I am tripping on my thoughts as my head is a tad blank right now. Oh you should definitely check out the domination and revenge voice lines that they have because they are funny. Oh and before anything I would like to say RIP rick may you were real good son, real good, maybe even the best.
There are no skins in TF2, but you can dress the classes in thousands of hats and other cosmetics, many of which are made by the community. There are reskins of certain weapons, but most of them are either special event only or are given as a reward for buying certain games on steam. You can also use weapon skins called war paints on a selection of weapons as well. About 90% of the cosmetics and war paints are from crates that give a random chance of dropping them, and on rare occasions the paints and cosmetics can drop as unusual which gives the item a random particle effect making them even more valuable. There's a whole economy on TF2 involving the cosmetics because of this. Also they do have a PvE gamemode called Mann Vs. Machine, there's a trailer for it as well, its a tower defense game where everyone has to defend a point from waves of robots built to resemble the classes, while getting upgrades in between waves.
Last 70 hours huh? I'd empty out my bank account and take my wife on a massive resort vacation where we can literally just have fun and laugh for those three days. ^.^ Sadly, I don't have anything deep for this one.
6:45 If I had 70 hours to live?...........Just hang out with family and friends, I've been an introvert my whole life so far so I don't need anything too grand. Besides I've done things most americans will never do when it comes to traveling, from Honolulu, to a Mexican cruise, and to Germany. Now if only Valve hadn't been so sloth to deny us a adult swim series.
If I had only 70 hours left to live the first thing I'd do is post all of my WIP's, unfinished projects and yet-to-be-done ideas so people can find them and maybe do something with those ideas themselves and of course saying goodbye to all my online friends, which would probably already take up at least two days on its own Then the last day I'd like to spend watching some of my favorite movies and stuff with my family
There's a fun 2-part TF2 vs Overwatch fan-animation 'series' you could check out in which each TF2 merc goes up against their Overwatch counterpart, it's keeping the TF2 cinematics humor. Another all time classic TF2 fanwork is Team Fabulous 2
I genuinely love Expiration Date so much, Spy is (probably) Scout's biological father (though Scout doesn't know!) and I like to imagine that's why Spy bothers to help Scout in this video. Your reactions are incredible! :3 Seeing you react to the "this is a bucket" was hilarious, and your assessment of Soldier is on point just "what is he doing" 😭. I don't think anyone's ever tried to read the book titles in the Scout training montage before! They also have comics and lore, I've seen a lot of people react to the lore through The Bizarre Lore of Team Fortress 2 by choopo, there also have been people who have dubbed the comics on youtube, such as the beard
Unfortunately there aren't any more Valve made movies, however the community makes some very quality content. Can recommend some movies such as Emesis Blue, Live and let Spy, Friendly Fire... After that there is also some fun content that is less serious made in more poor quality but still favorite among fans, like FNAF vs TF2, Pootis Engage, Team Fabulous 2.... None of these listed above or any others are lore friendly meaning people use these characters for telling own original story with the characters, enviroment and personalities. Some animators use ingame voiceline edited into own voicelines and some creators dub the characters. So even without any more Valve content, there is still ton of to watch
Hey Mattables, there are TF2 comics if you are interested. You can find them free online. It reveals a lot of cool stuff about the characters like how the Spy is Jeremy's (the Scout's) father, the demoman dies if he drinks water instead of alcohol (his liver thinks water is toxic), and that the heavy can beat bears in hand to hand combat.
If I had 70 hours left to live... This is harder than I thought, give me a minute... Okay, so if I had 70 hours left to live, I would try and get my affairs in order, pay some debts, make some apologies. Then, I don't know, buy the stuff I've wanted to for a while and maybe go to a live Jeff Dunham performance.
The free online TF2 comics are a good way to get more official content from these characters They're written by the same people and they're super funny. A more content appropriate version are the amazing fan dubs uploaded to youtube, edited in a way to make the co engaging in video form :)
So for the game you can’t change how the character themselves look, but you can change their clothing and weapons. The clothing doesn’t do too much but the different types of weapons actually have specific quirks to them. For a small example the Sniper normally has a sniper as his weapon, but he can also have a bow and arrow as well as different variants of them. Along with them there are a good amount of taunts you can get for different characters, a few of them actually being able to kill people at the right time. I played a little bit of TF2 but not a whole lot to know exact details of certain aspects of the game. So if there is any corrections needed go for it veterans of the game :)
Gotta also recommend checking out Lazypurple's "How it feels to play TF2" series, which are in order on a playlist on his channel (And if you do tackle that series, please don't skip the extras when you reach them, A lot of the extras might as well just be "part 2" to each video!)
For my last three days? I would probably wanna watch movies with my mom, dad, and all the siblings, possibly Lord Of The Ring extended cuts, and eat as much both home made and shit food. Probably top it off by playing through Halo 3 with my brother one last time to finish the fight.
Highly recommend reading the offical comics on their site, or maybe one of hose voiced-over videos do you can take it in piece by piec and maybe even record it!
Something I just noticed: The number pad in the van only has fading on the one key and the enter key, just like the number pad on the door in Meet the Spy. Are all of their lock codes just 1111?
write down these names: Winglet, Italian Ninja, Condoriano, Nonamesleft, Crash Maul, Hoovy Tube and Mecha Fourth. best TF2 animators out there. 17:25 there are a few female models, but they're not official... some custom servers let you swap models. check out "Meet the Femsniper" and "Meet the Casserole"
No there are no skins, but there are *A LOT* of cosmetic, hell the demo get up when he appears with the beers and the waay he appear wooing are cosmetics and a taunt respectivle. The hat with the sodas that Scout had when reading is a cosmetic, and lots *AND I MEAN LOTS* more. As probably thousnad say alredy, a joke name of TF2 is "hat wearing simulator" oh yeah it also includes a firs person shooting game on the side.
hey if your looking for more TF2 skits there are a couple more offical animations and ENDLESS high quality fan made ones, i would watch, turbulance, mann vs machine, the tf2 winglet series, and a bunch more. i'd watch your videos on those.
Soo sad that Valve fumbled the Bag on this one. This should have been the Pilot for the show, but Valve fucked around and was too unreliable in Production for Adult Swim to stay on Board.
