@tomatosandpotatos Heresy. The silly side of TF2 animation is the bread and butter of the fandom. It is there that many of the long standing jokes and references are born in the community. Actually, the medics "Doves" were stolen from a prime minister's wedding. While the released birds are supposed to be barbary doves, most weddings use white homing pigeons. Given that Archimedes seems to stay with Medic, despite not being caged, it is likely he is actually a homing pigeon.

I love how Spy did all that for Scout as a roundabout way for Scout to gain the confidence he needed to put the date on himself and let him be himself. Scout thinks that Pauling goes for people like Spy, so Spy made him do the whole song and dance to show that Scout is incapable of being like Spy and Scout's ego prevents him from just accepting a loss so he did put the date on anyways his own way. Just Spy's own way to tell Scout to "be yourself." Also I love how Soldier instantly immediately admitted to his fuck up the moment he realized that teleporting bread was bad in his own way. And the way he looks happy for Scout when he date with Pauling seems to be going fine.
I actually did not catch the lesson Spy was teaching Scout. I did however notice how Spy was proud of Scout though! Very interesting plotline indeed! Soldier just followed the orders! o7
I think the person who said "RED Spy is BLU Scout's father and BLU Spy is RED Scout's father" is mistaken about that claim. Or, in the most generous interpretation, they're not telling the full story. Although, it's understandable, because the universe is confusing as hell. It's canon from just about all of the animated videos that there are multiple copies of each character, whether it's RED Spy and BLU Spy existing in the same room in Meet The Spy, or the hordes of BLU Soldiers in Meet The Medic. And in the game itself, there are domination voice lines for each class killing their counterpart on the other team multiple times, implying coming back to life is not only possible during the gravel wars, but common and mundane. But in the comics (save for one), the characters are treated as wholly unique. There's one Soldier, one Spy, and so on. The prevailing headcanon that the TF2 community uses to try and explain it is that the mercs are clones that are repeatedly brought back to life (if you read fanfiction for this game, you WILL encounter the phrase "respawn machine", that's an inevitability due to how many people accept this headcanon for lack of a better explanation), meaning all copies of Soldier are based on some "original" that all the others are cloned from. But that still doesn't explain why it stops being the case after the gravel wars, nor does it explain why Meet The Spy has the BLU Spy treating other Spies as different people. He specifically points out the RED Spy as having slept with Scout's mother, and the "if you managed to kill them, [...] they were not like me" line implies Spies of different skill levels. I suppose you could try and explain the former by saying that the "original" Spy slept with Scout's mom, Scout was born, and for whatever reason only the RED Spy snuck away to sleep with her again, over two decades later??? Which seems strange because the current version of the story would have us believe the Spy couldn't handle the responsibility of raising a child, and ran. So it would be weird as hell if ANY version of Spy showed up for round two only after Scout has already grown up and moved out. Imagine being the mother in that scenario! Any half-reasonable person would be like "oh, NOW you come crawling back? Where was this abundance of love and respect 20 years ago?" Point is, it's a confusing mess, so I wouldn't take that random chat member's word at face value, because the real answer is that it makes no goddamn sense. Which I suppose is inevitable considering TF2's story got changed a bunch over time. The original concept was that RED and BLU were shady organizations that secretly owned half of the world's governments. Cut to current TF2's story where they're companies owned by lunatic brothers who spent their entire lives fighting over some lead-poisoned gravel pits. I'm sure Meet The Spy was made before they had any idea where they wanted to go with the mercs as characters, so maybe RED and BLU being totally unrelated sets of strangely-identical people got retconned at some point. But Spy totally is Scout's dad.
I noticed this confusion during the different fan-made animations and other media. At least it generates some discussion in the community ^^ I believe the base idea is "Scout is Spy's son" for sure as you said
