Thing is though, firstly those graphics won't blend in all that well with the anime elements and second of all, gaming cutscenes just like movies, they need production and time. Never before or since has a CG racing cinematic made my blood boil like this has. I can feel the intensity of racing like this so hard I feel like I'm about to pass out. I need more of this.
i LOVE how different battles and scenes are recreated, like Takumi and Keisuke driving in different directions, the blind attack (FOREVER!) and the r34 vs. FD battle
I want there to be a game that is about touge racing and stuff like initial d, but u want it too be MORE realistic and less arcade like, sorta like mashing together the initial d style with other games like forza and gran turismo
+Kyle Counter, best you can get now for that is assetto corsa, it has much touge courses and some good cars and still be made more, only PC tho, check my last couple vids if you want see an example (not an ad)

The fact that this advanced rendering was on PS3 in 2008. 2 years after the console came out is mind blowing. This opening was ahead of its time. I also own a copy of this game on PS3.
Isn’t it an FMV though? Realistically an FMV can run on anything and look decent, so long as the visual fidelity of the file is up to snuff. Case and point, Sonic Forces. Whenever Original The Character isn’t needed for a cutscene, they are just FMV that have some film grain on them, and perhaps a lower resolution. But because Original the Character needs to rendered in real time, the film grain effect isn’t there and it’s upscaled to your resolution, so it’s a very noticeable difference on PC at least.
Something cool people may not have noticed: Some of the shots are made as if a person is spectating and recording the race. While most of the animation’s camerawork is smooth, these shots are shaky and sometimes the subject (cars) aren’t centered properly. Examples I noticed: 0:37 0:41 1:21 1:24 1:24 also looks like the spectator is using the zoom on their camera after they come into view.
