  • The Subaru WRX remains a confident and capable sport sedan, however, the latest generation has brought upon a new appeal for the beloved subie. Is it good enough to take on the Toyota GR Corolla, Honda Civic SI, VW Jetta GLI and GTI, or Hyundai Elantra N? Yes and no.

    Right now the Subaru dealerships in Tampa are offering 0% 72mo financing on the new WRXs. Makes the cost that much more compelling. If I was in the market for a fun dad car, this would definitely be the choice I'd make.

      That’s an awesome deal, basically 500 a month with zero down🤕 youd need to put down like 13 grand to get there with a GRC😪

      @JacesOwnWorld 8 місяців тому +1

      That’s a great dealership deal, but it makes me wonder why they are offering it? My assumption is that they aren’t getting sales, and they need to provide that incentive to attract customers. So why aren’t they selling? Well, I’m sure there many reasons, but the biggest reason is its price. The trim people really want costs over $40k, and that is a lot for a regular “non-STI” WRX. So though that dealer incentive is nice, the car itself is still too high for me to ever choose to pay it. 🤷‍♂️

      @@JacesOwnWorld Based on the people I saw when I went in for an oil change, my guess would be that lower riding, manual transmission compact sedans don't really hit the mark for the older crowd here.

    Had my 23 premium for about 7 months now. Absolutely love it!. Great tuned suspension and handling. Power could be better but it's fast enough. I've done some upgrades to the interior to make it a bit nicer and have done a few exterior mods. A new exhaust is a must though in my mind.

    people don't understand the WRX. the cladding is there to prevent the paint from getting F'ed when doing proper back road shoveling and having fun. As a caveat to that, it keeps cost down (I think) It looks a little out of place on a road car, perhaps. I personally had issue with it at first, but now I get it. I can chuck it into a gravel road and not worry about pesky rocks chipping the paint.

    So I test drove a 2020 WRX when I was in the market and was so disappointed because I barely fit in it . The driving position was so uncomfortable. I’m 6’3 220. I was coming from a GLI and really wanted a WRX. Just recently I took my outback 3.6 to the dealership for service and while I was waiting I went ahead and got in a new WRX and man the interior space was night and day. So spacious. I had them price matching and beating each other until one dealer was willing to go 6k under msrp. No one else could beat or even match that price so I put the deposit over the phone and went in the next day for the first time to take the car. It was worth the two hour drive and this is my 7th brand new WRX. I always got Premium models in the past but since I got such a huge discount I went with the Limited trim for the first time. What is special about the WRX is the simple fact that there is so much aftermarket support, that the low price allows you to turn the car into what you want it to be, Off-road/Track/Show Car/etc. You only need the Cobb Accessport and an Intake to push this thing over 330hp to the Wheel. With new suspension, brakes and tires, youre a direct competitor with the Type R, the only Difference is.. You can handle the weather more confidently. Its a 2.4liter. There is A LOT of displacement.

    • @zombielivesmatter7294
      @zombielivesmatter7294 8 місяців тому +1

      no, my wife put $6k in coilovers, bushings, sways, wheels/tires, and it still handles poorly and won't complete against a Type R.. New WRX has good engine and that is it, the handling is so bad but that's expect since it has the drivetrain straight from the Crosstrek and Forester, but most new WRX owners don't know that. They need to make a STI model again to compete against Type R, STI has front LSD, center active DCCD diff, and rear LSD. New WRX ain't it, with open front diff and open rear diff with electronic brakepad vectoring straight from the Crosstrek and Forester.

    I bought a 22 WRX prem, 2 years ago and my only regret is that I didn’t buy the limited.
    This is a great sports sedan with bag loads of character and an engaging drive. I have the STI performance exhaust which gives it a fierce sound. My default car would have been a GTI, which is a bit more polished and has more adjustability in the drive modes, however I love the WRX for what it is, a performance sedan with a world rally pedigree. While the current WRX won’t win any beauty contests ( can’t remember any generation that was drop dead gorgeous) it is distinctive, looks & characteristics of a WRX. These affordable sports sedans/hatchbacks are a dying breed. Get one while you can.

    If you need awd, this is one of the few mainstream compacts still available. Otherwise an Elantra N is a better choice.

      AWD paired with the awful reliability of the N drove me towards my WRX purchase. I got 72 months at 1.9% on mine too so there’s no beating that.

      @@DarthJader_ ‘23 Premium w/ HK + Sunroof OTD for 33.5K, I honestly don’t think you’re going to get a better deal than that. Seems like subaru is trying to push the old inventory out with the 1.9% @ 72 mo. financing, from what i’ve seen most of the WRX inventory usually sells in waves. If you can hold out to the end of the month for a purchase in hopes that your local dealers still have any ‘23 models left that’s probably in your best interests.

    I leased a leftover over 23 Base in late January at about 2K off the list price. At that price there is NO other alternative for the same level of performance. The only other car anywhere near the ball park was a Honda Civic EX or Touring with the 180 hp engine, but Honda is NOT dealing with Civics. My monthly payment with the civic would have been considerably more and the power and handling considerably less. The Civic IS however, a very nice vehicle. No, the Civic Si was not a consideration. They are next to impossible to find, you'd be lucky to get it at sticker AND it still lacks the performance of the WRX. The Base WRX is the sweetspot. With a low-ish sticker price and still plenty of discounts AND about 200lb LESS curb weight than the other Trim levels, the acceleration, handling and MPG all HAVE to be better than all the other trims, except the new TR.

      You got ripped off pal!! I got 6k off msrp on my brand new Limited WRX a few weeks ago. Originally, my local dealer offered me 3k off msrp, but over the phone I talked to various dealers and had them price matching each other until I got to 6k off msrp. No one else could beat or even match that 6k off msrp so I pulled the trigger. It was worth the two hour drive to save 6k off msrp. This is my seventh brand new WRX. I got 1.9% interest as well.

    There overpriced Japanese shit cars. You would think after all these years they would be around 250 kilowatts. To me there a rip off l could buy a Audi or a lexus. These two cars have much more class and are faster. If your 6ft it's not a pleasant driving experience especially when turing. No thanks.
