I think what is most comfortable to the carrier is what is most important as they are going to be more likely to carry when it is comfortable. That is different for each person. You could come up with the hypothetical all day long, and whether or not it plays out how you think is debatable. For instance, the idea that a robber may be more likely to target your fanny pack simply because they see it. They could just as well stay away from robbing you because many of them know that people carry in fanny packs, and robbers don't generally want to get shot. If they are after money, they know the guy without a fanny pack probably has a wallet as well. So, who is to say they would be less likely to rob you? Does someone have analytics with regards to this, or is it just unproven theory? In my experience, criminals generally take the path of least resistance. When I see people with fanny packs on, I always assume they have a firearm in it. That is just me personally. With certain fanny packs, I can know with absolute certainty because I know the makers of the fanny pack. Food for thought.

In low risk, low crowd environments I'll use a smaller quick draw fanny pack, but otherwise it's appendix carry. As mentioned, the fanny pack will be the first things robbers will see an want.
