Definitely the easiest to understand video on ammo I’ve seen, well done! This video should always be pinned on your channel page if you can do that. Only thing you missed out in this video is a little more discussion on premium AP ammo (mostly used by Japanese tanks, although the KV-2 and SU-100Y use it too). It is an odd one since Japanese premium AP works like a lesser version of APCR, more pen for less damage - but Soviet premium AP works differently, less pen for more damage! Agree with you about disliking HEAT compared to APCR. I once suggested to WG on the forums that they compensate for the obstacle detonation and spaced armour penetration limitations of HEAT damage by reversing the -15% damage reduction for it. IMO HEAT should do the full 100% damage that it used to, same as AP. That would make HEAT-firing tanks attractive once again.
Tim Smith Thing is, HEAT’s excellent for flat, thick enemy armour. The lack of normalisation for HEAT allows it to bounce off angled surfaces (40+ degrees angled) more easily... Personally, good positioning allows for better shots, so whether it’s APCR or HEAT, it doesn’t matter much.
LF thank you! Great job on explaining ammo. Been playing blitz for about 5 years now had to figure all this out myself. Will help the new members a lot. Again well done video especially the editing and slowmo on shots!
Well done. Been with WG since 2014 and I still learned a few things I wasn't aware of. Keep it up. Need to get your channel listed in the related channel listings of the other sites. i.e. Bushka etc. Your content is great so you should be at 5K subscribers. there are a lot of new players as you know that need the info you provide. The description of this Ammo explained video is the best I have seen.
Excellent info! Just as a little FYI for those that might care, the SU-100Y is a bit if an exception to the prammo rule. Its prem ammo does more damage and less pen. Not sure why that is or who will benefit from that info, but there it is.
Yeah. I didn't make it very clear that there are several tanks whose premium ammo has less penetration but does more damage. Primarily the British tanks with HESH, but there are several others as well.
@@LittlefingeronWOTBlitz your video was very informative and clear! I wasnt meaning to sound rude or trying to point out an error, I just often forget about the specific peculiarities of some of the tanks and thought I would mention it for anybody who didn't notice on their own. I have used hesh (or the vast majority of the tanks in the game) so I'm sure there are tons of other exceptions I don't know about.
Real good video. Little too much for my old mind at the beginning. I really liked the in play along with the replaying of the same situations in the training room! Thanks for all you videos! o7
Hey LittleFinger, the three calibers rule states the following: when the shell caliber is higher than three times the armor plate’s thickness, the shell disregards any calculations and goes through. Calculations don’t occur at that state. Great video though!
A very good video describing ballistics to an extent and explaining which type of shell to use. In all my three years of being with WoT Blitz, I've not come across HESH shells. HE is clearly high explosive, but what is "HESH" please? This must be obvious to most, but please tell me.
Your vids have been very helpful and very concise, thank you. Silly question: is there a way for me to enter a training room by myself but with an opposing dummy tank to practice armor pen etc?
Good video. How do you able to do stimulator run with a real tank? I'm still considered myself a new player. I train mostly on t4 tanks. This mean I never have seen He shell before and what's for xD
Tank__ Reeper It depends on the tank. For example, the Tiger’s side armour may be strong at 82mm, but the area behind the tracks is 60mm, leading to many failed bounces. Typically, search up armour models of the tank that you have. For example, the Tiger I has a strong mantlet, but an exposed turret front. Not taking any chances, I usually just expose the gun mantlet and move around between reloads to keep my cupola a harder target. Then, you have the IS. The hull frontally is weak, while the turret’s cheeks are easy to hit. However, with the frontally mounted turret, it’s easier to angle around a city (backwards)without exposing the rear or the turret front for too long. For LT, if you’re getting chased around by a derp tank, give your side to the enemy. Reason being: tracks cover a lot of your side, and once they hit the track, those KV-2s will only do 350-400 dmg as compared to the 960 avg. As a whole, staying hull down should help in most tanks, but checking the armour models online should give you an idea of the intricacies of a tank’s armour, with how to defeat one and how to command one firmly in your grasp.
Good vid but some of these rules dont apply anymore h.e. use to explode on impact no matter the angle , it will bounce now cant remember what update this happened wargaming has never said anything about this but fire enough h.e. and u will get a bounce. And lately have had games where the 3 caliber rule did not apply when it should have and i bounced..
Lost a game using HE against a very HO tank half water. The shell went into the water and did very low low damage and then the red bastard shot me twice on my reload.
He is worthless to shoot unless you have a huge caliber gun and even then if you do the math it’s usually not worth the risk. Too many times it gets eaten by tracks or doesn’t pen to get the additional damage.
Only use HE when you have to and you only have to in a high caliber gun. HE on average will always screw you over. The low rolls far outweigh the benefits of those high rolls .
On Blitz you do - assuming that it's DAMAGE that you ment, not penetration - lose on average damage made per shot when shooting it as your PREMIUM ammo. They nerfed it for reasons found on Blitz forums... Also APCR does lose penn if shooting over long distances, this is due to the nature of the shells, again found in the forums easily it the wiki found on the Blitz website..
I was quite surprised how 152mm gun bounced from top of an IS 6, it is like 30mm thick, you can overmatch it with 90mm guns if you know IS 6 is not running enhanced armour, GREAT EXPLANATION
Wargaming should make this video mandatory viewing by all blitz players. Great vid...best I’ve seen explaining the ammo mechanics.

I tore apart an SP in my rudy with HE and he called me nub for spaming HE and hiting him for 300 every 4.5 seconds😂

more speed = more round velocity.. thus, it will have more penetration value
Yeah sometimes it happens because of low shell velocity HE needs patience specially if you are driving KV-2
GREAT video Littlefinger!! I particularly like how you recreate a situation in a training room after the battle - this is all incredibly helpful!! :-)
Excellent explanation of ammo!
Tip - learn to use HE shells in tier 5 Pz 4 👍🏻
Pz4 does not have derp 105 anymore. The 75mm HE is not great for a 40 dmg increase.
Extremely helpful
I keep missing the target. That's how I leave a lot of hit points on the table.
Holy crap did I learn some lessons here.
when im run out of AP shells, i always accidentaly use all my APCR shells, and thats makes me wonder, "why is my damage is decreased?"
You see apcr has high chance of piercing armour the apcr shells are supposed to penetrate not decimate they are useful against very amoured tanks
Nice video, thank you for spending your time to make & share this post. I’m a subscriber now. ;)
Very Nice vid!! Congratulations
I liked ur video great job..... I learned more stuff about the Ammunition mechanics thanks!!!
Thank you. This was very educational

Should do camo values...think with newest update feels like it changed. As soon as I light off a round in my rhm it's over for me

I was wondering the same
What is shell normalization and how does it work?
Another great vid littlefinger
on mine, ammo is on the right side number. 1 2 3. Just hit the key number and you switch.
I can't find a video on utube on penning he in a light maybe u could bro one but I thought your suppose to shoot above tracks
Where the premium AP like in the derp kv2 or ho ri?

How about HEP ?? on Ru 251 and Black bulldog (tier 8)
Works same way as HE I think
It's just the fancy underling of hesh
Always helpful, thank you.
I feel like HE and HESH are best with derp guns, T49, Rhm, KV2, etc... the ones that have high damage and pen.
Wow. Great info.
If you got a annoying sidescraper that isnt taking damage use HE to startle the opponent
Why does KV1 does not have AP shells after an upgrade in turret
What tanks are able to have heat and hesh shells?
love your videos man
The Heat and Hesh rounds does not show for my tanks, any reason why? Thanks!
FYI each tank is given specific type of ammo.
Hesh ammo only available for fv183,fv4202 and centurion mk7
You forgot premium ap. Does more damage but less pen
Great vid, thanks
Well done, thanks

is their an advantage to playing on a tablet over a computer? or vice versa
