Frederick had a problem of his own. His monumental fear of nothing... not existing to be more precise. "Oceans, moutains, planets, They all come and go in the mere blink of an eye. If we do manage to survive the combined threats of global warming, internal cooling, a dwindling magnetic field, asteroids, solar flares, rouge black holes, nothing changes the fact that our SUN coninues on an inevitable coundown to death! Even if we did manage to flee to distant stars, they're ALL equally marching toward their own ANNALIHATION, TIME AND EVENTS WORK TO DESTROY - ALL WE NOW HAVE COMPREHENDED, THE DECAY OF ALL MATTER AS WE KNOW IT, THE DECAY OF ALL LIFE AS WE KNOW IT, ONE THING REALLY HAS TO WONDER; WHAT IS THE POINT OF ANYTHING. WHY CONTINUE. WHY PROGRESS. LIFE EVEN AS BOTH IDENTITY, WOULD BE DOOMED AND NON-EXISTENCE. WHY. WHY GONE." Said the bear.
I appreciate the combination of irony and optimism in the video. On one hand, every fear the little animals had has proven legitimate and they were gravely injured by their own courage and squirrel's recommendations. On the other, even despite this fact (and their untimely deaths) the animals were much better off not living in fear for the remainder of their lives. Spending the life in terror would save none of them: it is said that even a horrible end is better than a horror without end, and it is doubly true if the end result is destruction regardless of any personal effort. Thus, I can't but declare optimism the clear winner in this little argument.
I can personally relate to the Bear's mindset and say that I have gone through a similar realization as the one Albert the squirrel tells him about. For me, i can say firmly my mindset has shifted from fear to purpose in connection.
@@Ben_Gates purpose? The eventual heat death of the universe will come and everything that has been invented, built, and progresses will be destroyed but find solice in the fact that this will come long, long after we die

If you define yourself as just a brain in a bag of skin then "we" only get Earth, sure, (for now until space travel). But in the same way as an ocean wave is a function of what the whole ocean is doing, we are a function of what the whole Universe is doing. And in that sense I realized a deeper connection to find solace, away from present and humanly worries that used to put me down tremendously. They're still on my mind, and I handle them as best as i can, but they don't carry the same impending wight with them. To put it best. "You realize you're That--we won't put a name on it-- you're That, and you can't be anything else. So you are relieved of fundamental terror. That doesn't mean that you're always going to be a great hero, that you won't jump when you hear a bang, that you won't worry occasionally, that you won't lose your temper. It means, though, that fundamentally deep, deep, deep down within you, you will be able to be human...in the pains, difficulties and struggles that naturally go with human existence...But to have no hang-up, that is to say, to be able to drift like a cloud and flow like water, seeing that all life is a magnificent illusion, a playing of energy, and that there is absolutely fundamentally nothing to be afraid of. Fundamentally, you will be afraid on the surface, you will be afraid of putting your hand in the fire, you will be afraid of getting sick, but you will not be afraid of fear, fear will pass over your mind like a black cloud will be reflected in the mirror." ~ Alan Watts
Considering you are likely to watch it again (at least from the bear to end) this video will tirelessly repeat the same lesson and aid in the development of the universe.
This made me re-ponder something I've contemplated all my life: Where and how did everything start? There must have been nothingness at one time. What created life? If God created life, who created God?
This pretty much sums up the journey through life and the fears we face as we grow more conscious of the existence around us. But why be healthy when you can be a bear

One of the best parables I've seen. This would make a great children's book
Why doesn't this have more views? This is one of the best animated short films I've seen.
welcome to the world
It has a lot of views on Vimeo which is where it first came out I think.
This is the best video under 10 minutes I've ever seen.

I was expecting the final to have the squirrel die from the cold. Or the animals showing some more growth
Agreed. Was that kind of an ending really necessary?
