Ahh, those were the days. Weren't they? My chosen Soldier would be angrily struggling against and grabbing at a Giant Jumping Sandman Scout before taking out a shotgun and starting to blast. But the humanoid robot furiously throws the American off with a human-like moan, as if a real, dying Scout was trapped inside the large mechanism... hundreds of wires and metal edges stabbing into his corpse... As the Soldier opens his eyes, he is on the ground, but he sees a Medic approaching. The doctor worriedly tries to reach out for the wounded man, but the Soldier rolls over and looks up, seeing the Scout Robot angrily standing before him. With another furious groan, the massive mechanism reaches out and grabs the Soldier, throwing him halfway across the map. Firing his shotgun twice at the distance, the American collapses near the spawn. After getting up, the Soldier brushes himself off, but notices a Robot Pyro standing on a balcony, readying it's flamethrower. The human reaches for and grabs his shovel, and as the robot jumps down from the balcony, the Soldier instantly hits the robotic masked man right in the MUFFIN. Then, he turns a corner, and sees a Giant Robot Pyro, standing at least 5 metres away, aiming it's flamethrower at the Soldier. The American takes out his Rocket Launcher and blasts it at the robot, filling the whole map with dust and wires. Those were the days, amirite? :)
I might as well make up a lore. In 2010, The engineer was a man with a degree of engineering. He wanted to make robots that act like humans and think like humans. So, he went on to researching robots. Later, he had heard about the Red vs Blu war, and decided that he could help with the war with his robots, and joined Blu. After studying Blu and how they fought, he started developing the robots. Then, After 2 years in Blu, he had finished 11 classes of robots, (Like the 9 classes of humans, except he added a Tank and a Sentry buster.The sentry buster was for the other Engineer that joined red.) and he put them to testing. They did well, until the robots turned over and escaped, forcing Red and Blu to fight against the endless hordes of robots the original 11 were creating. The end C:

I always like it when Valve adds something in the background of maps like the robot carrier or the crashed rocket. it's that final heads-up that somethings about to be unleashed on the game.
I remember back when I was looking at the Engineer Update at it's release, the diagram of the Robo-Scout, but paid no attention to it's robotic properties. I also remember on Doomsday when I was looking for secret stuff I found the Top Secret room with Spy in it. I looked at that map and photos for ages, wondering what the connection was. Though I never figured it out, the fact Valve had this going for 2 years with barely anyone noticing made it the best ARG ever.
