    Every time this happens I take all the balls out, clean the thingie and reball. I have a stencil support that needed a little bit of modification to allow a longer linear move when I remove the stencil holder. This way the stencil goes up in a straight line and balls stay in place and are not moved because my hand movement. Also using solder paste and stencils really do work quick and almost perfectly.

      i need to try out paste. 😁. Some day I will.

      @@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql Some people like the paste more. I keep using stencils and balls. I used to have crappy stencils and crappy stencil support and I honestly didn't know how to use them and what I need from them. Now I can completely change a memory chip in 10 minutes, preheating time included. I use the hot air station at minimum airflow, 500 Celsius and I cover half of the air admission holes with my hand. This way no ball flies out and they come to their proper place even if they are shifted. I post this comment for all of those who are beginners. A good stencil, good stencil holder and quality balls can enable everyone to work very well and very fast.

      Thank you for sharing 😁. I will practice it myself.

    Bro, the first time I switched to AMAOE magnetic stencil tools for using with Solder Paste I no longer have this kind of problem anymore and the job can be done very quickly.
    Of course at first I didn't know the technique (stencil warp / flex when heated, balls uneven, ...) but once you know the basics I promise you that you'lle never get back at using solder balls anymore...
    :)

      i will try it. my stencil was not flat and i did not notice it. i made a mes of the reball i thenhad to fix it.

    do you know how to avoid "popcorn" on GPU substrate when lifting the core from PCB? bottom temp 200C, top heater 350C.
    do i need baking it first?

    • @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql
      @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql  2 місяці тому +1

      Which rework station are you using?. Top heater is way too high at 350. You will have to calibrate the set temperature vs actual temperature on the top and bottom heater. The temperatures will increase in steps 100, 150, 180, 220, 240, 260, 280. Each of these temperatures are set for a time frame of 60, 60 40, 40, 40, 60,60 secs. The time can be increased or decreased depending on your machine. You can watch the 3 zone rework station video on my channel. It will give you an idea.

      @@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql sorry forgot to mention, i use DIY rework machine using Rex C100 as controller. the controller seems don't have PID options.
      someone suggest me to use PC-410 controller which is used on IR6000 machine. they have PID feature.

      @@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql however, thank you so much for the advice!
      i'll try when my PC-410 arrives...

      When using IR heater at the bottom you will take into account the overshoot of temperature for a brief moment. This overshoot can be dangerous especially at higher temperatures. When calibrating the bottom use the temps at the PCB to measure however use delayed measurements so you can be vary of the overshoots. I assume the top you are using hot air station. You can calibrate at the nozzle of the hot air. It is ok to increase time duration but avoid increasing temperature.

    Wouldn't this take much longer than wiping the balls away and placing the stencil again?

    • @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql
      @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql  3 місяці тому

      Yes. Unfortunately I bent the stencil and ordered a new one. So instead of waiting till it arrives I thought this was the best option at the time. 😁

      I used a stencil. but somehow i bent it. so when i put the balls it went under the stencil and messed up the reball. I ordered new stencil but instead of waiting i did this.
