    Nice video. I want to know what u did or how u print on the card the design before putting the foil. 1. I mean have u screen or print on laser or what else u have done so the foil stick to the card. 2. Its ok for thin or normal sheet but If i have a texture paper 300gsm that cant be insert in laser printer what i have to do for that condition. Any other way to print on the card 1st and then foil.

    does the printed design have to be raised so that the foil sticks to it? I am just learning about this!! I love the look of foil

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  7 років тому

      +Dulce Rodriguez hi, no. The foil sticks directly to laser printer toner. There is no raised area.

    Hello!! Love this tutorial. Beautiful outcome!! I have a question. When I try to foil mine gets wrinkle when passing thru the minc machine :( and I can't achieve full gold coverage. This happens only on the text area of my design. Any tips to avoid this? I notice your foil comes out super flat and adhered to the area. Would love to achieve that. Thanks so much!

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  7 років тому

      +Lyna By Desig hi, are you foiling paper/text weight stock rather than thicker cardstock? I find when I foil paper it wrinkles around the text due to the heat/moisture.

    Do you use a regular printer to print the design? So you ca foil it

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  7 років тому +1

      +Angie Nar Transfer foil sticks to laser printer toner, so as long as you have a laser printer (any brand) it should work.

    Hi. if my design have a lot of color and i print it en laser toner.... the foil will sticks only in the black color? o will be everywhere?

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  7 років тому

      It depends on how much colour you design has and the quality of your laser toner. If the colour your printer outputs has black to make up the colour (e.g.. purple) then you maybe have foil stick to that colour slightly. You would need to experiment and see what's works on your paper.

    Hi! Does your foil always stick to the design? No black spots ever? When I foil it's a lot of hit and miss..tried various foils, papers, heat settings..if I get 2-3 foiled that are ok, the next ones start to have missing spots..with the same settings as the ones that came out ok...it is so frustrating..can you provide a link for that foil you're using? thx so much!

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  7 років тому +3

      99% off the time I get no black spots and perfect coverage. The other 1 percent is based on dust particles that settle after the transfer folder is closed that I can't remove. Try using a lint free cloth to wipe down the paper before putting the foil down and see if that helps. Good luck!

    I have a question I have tried to use this method to foil some invitations but when I peel off the foil the surrounding areas where the foil touched (besides the laser wording) gets full of foil as well. I tried several laser printers but the outcome is the same.

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  8 років тому +1

      +Marco Garcia Hi there, it's difficult to tell the cause as a number of factors could contribute to this occurring. Good to hear you have started troubleshooting by using different printers. Unfortunately it's just a process of elimination such as trying different paper types, changing the heat sitting, making sure 100% black toner is being printed and not a combination of colours to make black which some printers do, or a different model of heat transfer applicator. Some laser printers also leave residual toner on the laser printer drum/fuser which can be very difficult to eliminate as the foil could stick to this also. Try each thing separately to help determine the cause and you will hopefully have success. Best of luck!

    • @rd-gi6jw
      @rd-gi6jw 4 роки тому

      Hi Jelisaveta. Did you solve the problem yet? I live in Bosnia. I order Minc foil on Amazon regularly. It's expensive though. Try Craft Direct, they do not charge shipping a lot but are a bit more expensive from the beginning. I think there is a wholesaler/retailer in Belgrade who distributes foil in bulks for "zlatotisak" but I have not tried them yet. You can also ask someone who is into traditional hot stamping/gold foiling for help. Cheers!

    Hi! I've been using a laminator for this purpose, but I find that (especially) when I sandwich my design between parchment paper and protective paper layer, it leaves roller marks. Does the Minc eliminate this problem? Thanks!

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  7 років тому

      It is hard to say what your issue could be and if the Minc will eliminate your problem, but I do know that I do not get roller marks because I use a transfer folder (clear plastic folder) and do not sandwich between a protective paper layer. Also, your laminator may be pushing the paper through too hard. Good luck!

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  6 років тому

      daniqua goulbourne Hi there, it works well with any colour as long as the cardstock is smooth (not textured). It also works with slightly textured but you would need to test as it can have a mottled look.

    hi there. did you use glue on the design to make the foil stick onto the paper?

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  8 років тому +3

      +Daniela Abreu With this machine, the foil sticks to the black laser toner (not inkjet) as it passes through the heat, so no glue is used.

    Hi there can you please advise what brand of paper you are using? I bought some metallic card stock for my wedding invitations to foil with using my minc and they come out really splotchy. If you could link me to where you purchase your paper so I can get beautiful clean foiling that would be much appreciated.

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  7 років тому

      +Kirsty Mossman I used 'Stardream - Crystal' in this video. It's best to experiment with papers as not all paper batches/finishes/transfer foils are the same. I would recommend using a ultra smooth paper as it works best with the minc rather than something that has a little bit of texture.

    • @williamsmummynz
      @williamsmummynz 7 років тому

      Eternal Stationery thank you for your reply, that is the same exact cardstock and colour that I had ordered but I can't for the life of me get my foil to come out perfect like yours :( not too sure what else to do! Thank you for your reply anyway, your invitations are beautiful.

    if i print out in a dark blue shade will the gold foil stick to it? or does is have to be black toner only?

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne

    Will the pieces that are not being foiled still lift with the parchment paper? I'm finding when I foil only pieces of my project, what is exposed lifts and transfers over to my carrier sheet.

    • @nayeligarza3619
      @nayeligarza3619 8 років тому

      I understand your intent with the parchment paper is to keep it from transferring to the carrier sheet, but will the exposed parts transfer over to the parchment paper? I hope that makes more sense. :)

    • @EternalStationeryMelbourne
      @EternalStationeryMelbourne  8 років тому

      +Nayeli Garza I have used baking paper on top of the exposed text and the text has never lifted, the baking paper is clean every time I foil a project due to the non stick properties within the baking paper. I have tried using normal white printer paper in place of baking paper and found that printer paper stuck to the exposed text and the result was less than perfect. Hope that helps!
