May I ask what laminator you bought? I am trying to figure out what laminator to buy for foiling, and a bit overwhelmed with the number of products different people are using.
Jocelyn Kwan I bought a Scotch laminator. It has two settings. I set it to the highest setting (5ml) and let it heat up for ten or more minutes. I get perfect results using the thin parchment paper as a carrier. I love it and it only cost $16!
I've used baking paper instead of copy paper on some of my foils - especially good for ones that don't transfer easily. And you can run through more than once but it turns some area matte instead of glossy. P.S. for smaller areas some nail foil can work too :)
I received a laminator as a gift because I'm always creating SOMETHING new, and I am thrilled to learn that I can use it how you just showed me, too!!!!! I happen to have two huge rolls of silver that I can hardly wait to play with! Thank you so much for sharing the idea!!!
I print them onto cardstock and run them through the laminator 2 to 3 times with baking paper on top and ive never had any issues they all come out perfectly
@@jennyharris782 I know you brought this up 3 years ago!!! OMGOSH but hey still interesting and relevant today. Ok printing via laser printer or copy machine that uses TONER not ink onto canvas will be difficult no doubt. Most people would cut a design out via digital cutting machines yes script and words too and transfer with iron on vinyls which do come in glitters and foil or metallics too not just matte colors. Also you can achieve great results just with a home iron as long as you follow directions to a T and do not move iron around much but press for so many seconds then move to new section with some overlap and press hard down again. They now have PENS similar to woodburning type tools that heat up and have writing nibs on their ends that you can place this type of foil in this video onto a fabric and WRITE right over it with the heat pen. Some great great results others not as good as you may like or can do with printer and digital works. You can also cut patterns and letters out via metal dies and embossing/die cut machines and again use iron on vinyl in colors and designs of your choice and usually it's best to use transfer paper a clear type of tape that allows you to pick up the design after weeding and go check out what weeding is here on youtube but once your design is the only thing left you lay the tranfer tape over it and move it to your fabric. Usually you want to place a teflon sheet over that and then start ironing or if you have a fabric press etc. follow their directions too. Different brands and styles of vinyl has temperature recommendations and now long to press. If however you are doing it with an iron always do a couple of trials to make sure you've got the right temperature. Some you remove cold some you remove while still warm again it depends on brands and their adhesives used. It usually is best not to try to lay down twice where you do your base design and then apply over it more vinyl and iron again. That can cause damage. Not in all cases but they recommend you don't if at all possible lay the entire design even mixed vinyls at one time via transfer tape and then start ironing over a teflon sheet. Teflon sheets are reused over and over and are relatively inexpensive. Transfer tape is usually clear with or without a grid. Sometimes you can find a bundle start up pack of several smaller transfer sheets with a few teflon sheets and that allows you to learn and work through a learning curve and maybe figure out what you want to do and enough feed back to send you searching for better tranfer paper that meets your sizes and needs best or it's just all you want to begin with. Watch VIDEOS here on UA-cam. There are people tranferring designs via iron on vinyls to canvas and fabric. I myself am making a couple of custom made yarn totes for a friend and want her name and or initials on the pocket flaps. So on one tote it will be all canvas and expect no problems. But the main tote has vinyl pocket flaps and cording for added support to make it stand up better on it's own when empty and so some vinyl upholstery fabric will handle being ironed over if you use the teflon sheet others is too temperature sensitive and will melt. I've yet to do my trial with the one I'm using. If it doesn't work then I will run her name across the back side right onto the canvas itself which I know works. I haven't meantioned you can also purchase quilters cotton fabric that's treated on back side with adhesive you also iron on but it runs through inkjets and I believe they make it for laser printers too. In this case you could print any design you love right onto the WHITE cotton treated sheets usually 8.5x11" size but one sheet at a time hand fed to insure it doesn't jam. Some laser printers do not like any thickness at all so a copy machine with toner might be best for those. And then they actually make clear vinyls you can print on again any design and or T-shirt design decal paper that you then again print any design but it needs to be mirrored so when you flip it over to iron onto the canvas in your case or shirt etc. It transfers with the letters going in the right direction. Ok lots of possiblities here. BUT if you are after that Metalic BLING the first few methods using this foil is the way to go. I am curious myself however and will one of these days try it out but if I ran a cotton gulters fabric through a black and white laser toner printer would I be able to then with an iron or heat press apply foil to that or will the cotton soak up too much of the toner or maybe it's treated with something that won't let you. Until I try or run across someone who's tested that theory out I myself don't know the answer. I bet there are some other ways too that I haven't thought of. Again start watching some videos and search for foiling canvas and fabrics and I bet you'll narrow it down. Meantime Jenny I bet yo've already succeeded in your project years ago and hope it was amazing.
You're wrong about the peeling off being the boring bit. It's the best bit. That last star on the black card was so great. I loved this video, you describe everything so perfectly without wittering on too much. Thank you.
Omg this is awesome! I've been looking for other reasons to buy a laminator (other than laminating lol), And this one justifies my purchase! Thank you so much! Such a helpful and very informative video. 😘
Used in baking parchment paper it withstands high heat just right for laminator. Thin so more heat to give a clean attachment to the toner. Thanks for the demo.
On the stars, run them through twice and that should make them come out better. It works for me anywsy, but loved your review , thank you, love that script one
I usually pass it through the laminator two times all the project I have for laminations. But foil will be my 1st time. Thank you for the demonstration. You have a new subscriber to your channel. ☺👍
There are two types of foils. The Deco Foil does well on toner printed up from a copier/printer. The other foil is the 'Go Press' foil and that does well in a Go Press and Foil machine. It does not transfer well onto toner. I only found this out after pulling my hair out and wondering what I was doing wrong. Hope this helps.
This is so amazing!!! I didn’t think of this. I cannot wait to play around. So excited. Wish I found this video yesterday. Now I have to wait until after work!
Thankyou Great to see a video mentioning stockists in Australia. I found my laminator the other day while cleaning out my craft shed. Wondered what I could do with it..
Thanks for this video! Question, does the foiling need to be done as soon as the paper has printed? Due to ‘warm’ toner? Or can i print at a store, take home and then foil? Thanks!
Absolutely you can print at a store and then take it home. The foil reacts with the toner whether it was printed 10 seconds or 10 years ago. Great question!!! Have fun!
I knew this was possible but... I got a plastic map to put the image and foil in with my laminator, but it's a small plastic map. I'm so happy that you showed me that I can put my creations between paper!
If you don’t have a piece of plastic cover to put through your laminator, use a piece of kitchen parchment paper, it works great! Also if you take a very fine paint brush and brush off your printed paper and the back of your foil before you put them together it clears off all the little specs of dust, kitty hair etc. that get caught and don’t adhere your foil.
I do like my Minc, but I have had issues with both the ones I have had and I've killed them. Rather than rushing out to buy a new one, I'm just happy with my laminator for now and if I kill this then perhaps I'll consider the Minc again. Either works though, so enjoy what you have!
Hi. This is my first time on your channel and I have to say that this video is amazing and very clear on how to do foiling. I am for one gonna give this a go. Oh and I'll be watching all your other videos now. Thank you
Nice comparison video :) I love the script print & if you take say a solid shape like your stars or a heart maybe and place the foil from after you make script background, so the piece people might want to throw away, and place it on your star. Heat set and you have a scripted shape made from the left overs. 2 projects from one pattern. Hope that makes sense :) Thank you!
I have a laminator that has a foil setting. It turns out like yours did. Not perfectly, so I returned the foil. I might try it again with a lighter weight card stock and try to make some greeting cards. Thank you for sharing your technique. 💚🩶💛💜🧡❤️🤎🤍
Wow! I just replaced my inkjet with a cheapy laser printer and my daughter upgraded her laminator and gave me her old one. I can't wait to try this. Thanks.
I got a large Minc on clearance last year. Today I went to Hobby Lobby and got a lot of foil on clearance, some Prima flowers on clearance, and 8 die sets on clearance. I go wild when they have things 75% off! Yay!!!! lol
I wanted to know what's the thing that makes the foil stick to a particular /required area? Like we apply glue in a certain pattern then sprinkle glitter on it, brush of the excess glitter and we have the needed design. But here I didn't get what makes the foil stick.
Sadaf Azhar you can print something with black toner on a laser jet (not inkjet) printer and use that and some foils (“heat reactive”) will fuse to the toner. You can also use “reactive” sprays and pens, as well as thermo-web gel.
Thanks for answering Margaret. As she said Sadaf, its the toner of the laser printer that allows the foil to react. There are lots of ways to add foil and glitter though, and glue, as you mentioned, is also a good way. Hope that helps!
U can use them to make out lined stars . Print words inside the star and just have the gold as the outer line if you know what i mean . Would look cool on different back grounds . So to me they are still useful 😊
Hello. Thanks for sharing this video. Its really helpful. I would like to know if an inkjet printer can be used to have a similar results or if this only works with laser printer?
This is great isn't it,who needs an expensive foiling machine,ok it doesn't do dies but it opens a world of possibilities in the foiling world,or though some might say,"curses, foiled again ",stay safe xx
So glad it worked for you Julie! Have fun with your newly discovered technique! I'd love to see what you create too.. tag me on instagram if you share (@plum_mashable).
Do you know what the temperature is of your laminator? I'm thinking a clothes iron might work as well if you didn't have a laminator. What are your thoughts?
I'm not sure what the temperature is, but I have experimented with using other household items to foil with. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/q9F2HXz-moA/v-deo.html&lc=UgxvvucZqChuKe-T0il4AaABAg
Good demo! I haven't seen this in any of the comments [although you may know it by now]: just like you printed the star on your laser printer, you can print out a large shape & use the negative "waste" over it to print out anything you want - or do a positive-and-negative pair. I see mixed media here.....
I love this stuff although I've not done it for decades! We got an HP4P in the early 90's and I discovered this stuff way back then. I just printed whatever I wanted, put the foil on it - seems like it had heat-proof stickers to hold things in place and a carrier with the package I bought. I put it through a few times if necessary - using the same foil, just moving it around a bit until it was covered to my satisfaction. I only turn that printer on when I really need laser prints now. I'm sure it will eventually stop working altogether! I've been through boxes of reams of paper with it and it just kept printing. The ink-jets I've had have not been as dependable - but they are color! ;) I recently bought a couple of rolls at Tuesday Morning - usually overstock or discontinued things. I wish I had gotten more. I got home and the colors I bought, I already had!
It's nice having all these lovely items, but it's the space required to store and use them and an iron sounds logical .. its heavy and it hot! According to which setting is used.. great improvising!!!
Unlike the book pages that she showed, which are coated during the process, these are not considered to be sealed, but applied to the surface so they are subject to scratching eventually.
This might be an odd question, but I'm currently looking into doing a bunch of foil prints in the future for conventions and such, all the prints have a black background and from what I see its the black that picks up the foil. Can you set the laser printer too a setting where its not the black that gets foiled? I don't exactly know how to word it I'm sorry. I have little gold stars and such drawn into the image and I would prefer those to be foiled, how would I go about that?
Hey Turrkoise. It's not the black that it sticks to, its the toner. So if you printed on a black piece of paper and then foiled it, it would only stick to where the printing is. Does that help? Happy to answer more questions if thats not what you meant!
I got a laminator in a thrift shop for $10 and I needed to know how to do anything with my laminator. Your general knowledge helps so much. I too was going to put a variety of papers and see how it goes. What about fabric?? I have some rock paper... I'm going to try that too. Thanks for sharing.
Not sure with fabric or rock paper, but you could use heat transfer vinyl if you really wanted to put metallic finishes on fabric. I'm glad you enjoyed my video.
highonlollypops Because it heats up the toner onto the paper so when you put it through the minc or laminator it heats up the toner again and makes it sticky for the foil to stick to. Inkjet is like a pen and just ink. There is no heat that bonds the ink to the paper.
They have a pen you can use to draw on what you like. You can also trace if you’re handwriting isn’t as you would like. :) that way you don’t have to go buy a laser printer.
These were a downloadable from my Planners Anonymous subscription box. But I have been able to replicate something similar just using photoshop and repeating the pattern over and over. I'd love to see what you create!
(7-1-23) I bought a smart lami intelligent auto a few days ago. I hope today is getting much better than 5 years ago you posted on video. I tested and they are still the same result that you showed about black matte and smooth paper is not real good. White matte smooth and glossy paper are doing really well. I guess maybe 'Therm-O-Type FT-10 Foil Fuser' will work much better. I dunno.
Husky Lover it's Aussie slang lol - we yell it out quickly in happy times, Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oiii!! Is great when groups do it-a slang national 'anthem' of sorts, just basically yelling and yes, we're a strange land lol 😂
Hi honeyyeyes, I'm so glad it was helpful to you. That one is a kikki.K one, I think it was called Life is Sweet Honeycomb teal. It is very much not being made anymore though so it would be hard to get your hands on. Good luck though!
The Minc machine is better than a laminator as it has different heat settings which means that you can also foil thicker materials like chipboard. Keep an eye on Spotlight, last year I bought my Mini Minc for $60 as they had a 50% off sale on Minc products! The large was only $100. You also won't get those speckles with a Minc - The laminator isn't hot enough to completely bond the foil.
I shall keep an eye out Captain Hook. I do admit that I'd like the foil to be more consistent, but the laminator works well enough for what I need for now. Thanks for the info! :)
Could I ink up my rubber stamps with laser printer ink and use this method? I agree with you not wanting to spend out money on a machine that only has one function. Love you demonstrations. Greetings from the UK. The Craft Store tv channel are pushing Kelido which heats, die cutting and embossing features. I have a laminator and a Sissix die cutter so no need to spend more. 🥰
Hi Jo. I have the Heidi Swapp Minc Ink and have done a video on that too if you want to check it out. I find that those results are a bit hit and miss, but its lots of fun to play with. I'd love to try the foiling plates, but I can't justify them either at the moment. There is always the next big thing isn't there!
Totally love this, I never knew u could do this. You said u have a Cricut. I just got one and totally clueless on how to make dividers with my planner Anonymous paper
I do have a Cricut, and I can do a video on how to make dividers with it if you are interested Yume! My Cricut just hasn't been unpacked yet with the move, so I'll make sure to do it once it has been! Thanks for watching!
Perhaps the hotter your laminator gets, the less marks you will get on your shape? I have never done foiling but have just purchased a new laminator so I am off to get a roll of the foil. Thanks for sharing this , much appreciated from here in the UK :)
Thanks Sparrow. Glad it was helpful. I think the temperature has a bit to do with it. I often play with temps and what I send it through the laminator with to try and get better results.
I tried straight foil on top of item (taped at beginning side) face up on 5ml setting on my scotch and had about 7 out of 10 labels on the sheet come out perfect
Tip: Even if you don't have a laser printer, and can't go anywhere to get it printed for you. You can use a standard printer that uses TONER INK when it prints, and that will work just as well if not better! You can get these printers for cheap online at places like Amazon, and eBay!
Hi Isabel. Toner is what the foil reacts with to make sure it sticks. As far as I am aware, Toner ink only comes from a Laser printer? A laser printer is still reasonably affordable if you only get black and white, which is all you need for foiling anyway. Thanks for the tip though :D
@@PlumMashable You can get printers that use toner ink, we have one here at home, and I think they are quite affordable as well if you get a small one.
I purchased (about 3 yrs ago) printed toner paper from ThermoWeb. And, I tried to laminate (Scotch laminator) with iCraft foil paper recently but it didn’t laminated well, very splotchy. Question, does pre-printed toner paper have a shelf live?
So how do you get it to stick on your words or designs only and not on the entire paper? Is it a special ink or something? Can you foil any design on any type of paper?
Hi Makada. The foil sticks to the words or designs as long as it is printed with a laser printer. Its the toner in that ink that reacts and foils. You can foil any design on any kind of paper as long as you can print on it with a laser printer. Hope that helps!
Hi Plum_mashable! By any chance, you know what went wrong when my foil sticks to the cardstock too? Like what happened at 19:42 in your video. I want my foil to stick on the toner ink, but it's stucked on the empty spaces with no toner as well. Any advice?
Thanks for the video. I'm wondering what laser printer should I use to get a clean result? because I've used more than one type of laser printers but the foil doesn't transfer all onto the paper
I use a brother one and don't have too much trouble. I think though its got more to do with the paper than the printer. If you can use a super smooth or coated paper, it will help enormously!
I love this! is there a type of thickness of cardstock that anyone recommends? i've been trying to do this on a thicker cardstock and idk if its the image/toner or the laminator, but it does not transfer at all or only just barely. :(( i've tried putting it sandwhiched in regular print paper, parchment paper, just the card and foil, and idk lol def taking all tips and suggestions!!
It has a lot to do with the kind of paper you are using... the texture more than the weight. Is it a textured kind of cardstock? If you can get a smooth one you'll get a much better result. I hope that helps!
I just paid $16 for a laminator at Walmart and it works beautifully with my foil!
Awesome! I'm so glad you found something that worked for you!

I've seen a gal run her cuts through the laminator twice and foils came out stunning. I'm running out tomorrow to get a laminator.
but what printer are you going to use? is it laser print? can you update us on here? I wanna start also..
You have to use a laser printer to use the foil, thats how it transfers.
I dried this about a month or so ago, put it on some sticker paper and made some awesome rose gold and holo (holographic) stickers!

Do you use an inkjet printer or a laser printer?
My understanding is that you need heat AND pressure. You might try adding a piece of cardstock when you run it thru the laminator.
Great tip! I'll try that!
Im wanting to put a quote onto canvas and then foil it . Not sure how to go about it
Canvas is highly textured so you'll only get foil on the high spots. This mayor may not be your desired effect.

Am so glad I ran I to this video... I was considering purchasing a MINC, when I have a laminator just sitting there.
I do like my Minc, but I have had issues with both the ones I have had and I've killed them. Rather than rushing out to buy a new one, I'm just happy with my laminator for now and if I kill this then perhaps I'll consider the Minc again. Either works though, so enjoy what you have!
Hi, this was great! Thank you for taking the time. I am new at this and looking forward to experimenting also. Keep the videos coming.
Thankyou Sheila. I'll be doing the experiment video very soon.. just need to find the time to film it!
Hi. This is my first time on your channel and I have to say that this video is amazing and very clear on how to do foiling. I am for one gonna give this a go. Oh and I'll be watching all your other videos now. Thank you
You're so welcome Beth. Thanks for joining our little community. I'd love to see how your foiling comes up!
Nice comparison video :) I love the script print & if you take say a solid shape like your stars or a heart maybe and place the foil from after you make script background, so the piece people might want to throw away, and place it on your star. Heat set and you have a scripted shape made from the left overs. 2 projects from one pattern. Hope that makes sense :) Thank you!
oooh.. that does make sense. I'll have to give that a try!
Love it. It’s what I do as well. Thanks. 😎
I have a laminator that has a foil setting. It turns out like yours did. Not perfectly, so I returned the foil. I might try it again with a lighter weight card stock and try to make some greeting cards.
Thank you for sharing your technique.
💚🩶💛💜🧡❤️🤎🤍
So you're saying it won't work with ink from an inkjet printer?
So nice to have an Aussie video 😊 thank you so much for the tutorial 😊❤🤗
So glad you enjoyed it Jackie! :)
Brilliant video. Thanks so much for making it. Can't wait to try this out.
Thanks Catherine. I'm glad you enjoyed it
Wow! I just replaced my inkjet with a cheapy laser printer and my daughter upgraded her laminator and gave me her old one. I can't wait to try this. Thanks.
So welcome Nancy! I hope it all works out for you!
OMGness, I just found my next craft addiction!!! #iwantiwantiwant
Ha ha! It's a scary hole to fall down, but its so much fun!
I knew nothing about this subject and found your explanation really clear thank you.
So glad you found it helpful Liz! Thanks for watching!
can you use folded baking paper to send it through within instead of A4 paper maybe so the heat is hotter on the foil?
I have tried that and gotten better results. :)
2 years later... what about aluminium foil so more heat transfer? 🤔
@@JojosCraftyLove that's funny
I got a large Minc on clearance last year. Today I went to Hobby Lobby and got a lot of foil on clearance, some Prima flowers on clearance, and 8 die sets on clearance. I go wild when they have things 75% off! Yay!!!! lol
Wow. So lucky! I'd love our stores here to have 75% off sales here! :(
I wanted to know what's the thing that makes the foil stick to a particular /required area?
@@msdixie1972 thank you 🌹
Sadaf Azhar you’re very welcome!
There are lots of other ways you can add foil, like with glue! Check out my full foiling playlist for more videos on how to add foil to your projects!
@@PlumMashable thanks a lot
Oh see I’m glad i read all the comments 😆
This is great isn't it,who needs an expensive foiling machine,ok it doesn't do dies but it opens a world of possibilities in the foiling world,or though some might say,"curses, foiled again ",stay safe xx
ha ha ha. foiled again! very well done!
THANK YOU! I’ve been dying to find a way to do foil!
No worries Kella. Glad you found it helpful.
Tried this today ended up with some awesome results thankyou for the video was a pleasure watching 😍
That’s what I was thinking also!
Good demo! I haven't seen this in any of the comments [although you may know it by now]: just like you printed the star on your laser printer, you can print out a large shape & use the negative "waste" over it to print out anything you want - or do a positive-and-negative pair. I see mixed media here.....
I have heard of it, but never tried. I will have to give it a go! Thanks for the tip!!
Year n half later ... ...still useful vid... Thx :))
I think this one will always be a little useful.. still surprised how many people watch it!
Wow! Thats fantastic that you found something that works and it has been for so long. Thanks for sharing!
I love this technique! Love the ones with some creases on them to looks artistic. I think! :)
I do like the crinkles to be honest. :)
You can also use Parchment paper to protect the laminator and foil.
Absolutely you can! Great tip!
Foil for heat transfer... one year later
I guess you could use an iron if you don't have a laminator. Might take a bit of trial and error.
It's nice having all these lovely items, but it's the space required to store and use them and an iron sounds logical .. its heavy and it hot! According to which setting is used.. great improvising!!!
The couture creations is heat activated for the go press and foil. It’s not supposed to be toner reactive like the Heidi Swapp
Thanks for the info Karen! I just use whatever I can find!
This is my main reason I want buy a laser printer. Thanks for this
You're welcome Robyn.
If you are in the US, you can have items printed at Office Max or Staples on their laser printer until you can purchase your own!
Loved that !!! It’s awesome to finally find someone from Australia instead of USA. Great work
Thanks shasbain! Glad you enjoyed it!
Does it scratch off easily?? Pls answer
I don't find they scratch off at all. Pretty permanent.
Plum_Mashable great thanks
Unlike the book pages that she showed, which are coated during the process, these are not considered to be sealed, but applied to the surface so they are subject to scratching eventually.
That text looks amazing! Also the stars look pretty cool with unexpected textures
I love it so much. Foiling is a lot of fun!
Thank you, great to know you can use a regular laminator.
No worries Judy! Hope you enjoy the results!
Not at all boring. Thank you so much for this in depth analysis 🥰🥰
New subscriber for you!😍😯🙃
Thanks so much Shera!
I’m new I don’t know what foiling is
Foiling is just adding a metallic shine to parts, or all of, a project. You can add it to anything as long as you can print it with a toner printer.
Plum_Mashable oh right I see! That makes more sense! Thank you!
Heidi Swapp is shaking in her boots.
LOL! I very much doubt it Lola, but thanks for the comment!
haha right.
Happy Australia Day for Friday! (If you celebrate) love from tassie!
Thanks so much!
The letters came out perfect! I love idea! I am going to try it
Thanks lovely x
why does it have to be a laser printer?
highonlollypops
Because it heats up the toner onto the paper so when you put it through the minc or laminator it heats up the toner again and makes it sticky for the foil to stick to.
Inkjet is like a pen and just ink. There is no heat that bonds the ink to the paper.
Thanks for the explanation Rebekah.
They have a pen you can use to draw on what you like. You can also trace if you’re handwriting isn’t as you would like. :) that way you don’t have to go buy a laser printer.
Lola Rodgers what is the pen called?
Jojo Smith it’s a toner ink marker. Some brands are better than others. Heidi swapp makes one too.
Put it through the laminator more than once again without lifting it up. That way you’re not wasting your foil! Deco Foil works the best!
Great tips Sonia. Thanks so much for watching!
how did you do the words
These were a downloadable from my Planners Anonymous subscription box. But I have been able to replicate something similar just using photoshop and repeating the pattern over and over. I'd love to see what you create!
We r memory keepers has a heat tool that creates foil lettering
(7-1-23) I bought a smart lami intelligent auto a few days ago. I hope today is getting much better than 5 years ago you posted on video. I tested and they are still the same result that you showed about black matte and smooth paper is not real good. White matte smooth and glossy paper are doing really well.
I guess maybe 'Therm-O-Type FT-10 Foil Fuser' will work much better. I dunno.
Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi
???
Ok oi oi :)
Husky Lover it's Aussie slang lol - we yell it out quickly in happy times, Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oiii!! Is great when groups do it-a slang national 'anthem' of sorts, just basically yelling and yes, we're a strange land lol 😂
The heat resistant sheets are cheap at the TV shop. They are brown. They also sell a black BBQ or oven sheet. About 5.95 aud
I'll have a look Cyndi! Thanks so much!
thank you for these tips! Your planner cover is gorgeous! where did you get it? if you dont mind me asking (time stamp 20:33)
Hi. Another place to get foil from in Australia is Creek Creations.
Creek Creations? I've never heard of them. I'll check them out!
At 19:52, that's how all of my foiling projects are coming out. Do you have any suggestions?
It can be that your laminator is to hot, then it looks like that try to cover it with 2 papers so it will be a little bit thicker then it’s not to hot
@@narayan5107 thank you so much I'm going to try this
Perfect answer Nara! Thanks so much!
Jennifer McGuire (may have spelled her last name wrong) posted a video on this a few yrs ago!.amazing
She's amazing! Love her so much!
Totally love this, I never knew u could do this. You said u have a Cricut. I just got one and totally clueless on how to make dividers with my planner Anonymous paper
yume gutierrez I’m in the same boat
I do have a Cricut, and I can do a video on how to make dividers with it if you are interested Yume! My Cricut just hasn't been unpacked yet with the move, so I'll make sure to do it once it has been! Thanks for watching!
I've got you Jacquelynn.. video coming soon!
watching you peel the foil off was magical!
Thanks Monique! :) I love peeling it off - and its actually one thing I do enjoy about doing it with a laminator - and being surprised by the result.
I'm totally going to leave it up to the experts for now!
This is a great tutorial - clear, quick, simple and easy to learn. THANKS
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Thank you for this video. May i ask of the laminator should be cold or hot Thank you so much.
Hi Nina, the laminator needs to be hot. I hope that helps!
I tried straight foil on top of item (taped at beginning side) face up on 5ml setting on my scotch and had about 7 out of 10 labels on the sheet come out perfect
I think perfection is a myth with foiling printed things. If you get 7 out of 10, you've done great! Well done!
Also I was thinking prelaminate 2 laminating pages and then use that as your support paper. That way you can see if it is sitting flat
I'll give that a try Leticia. Thanks!
This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO satisfying!!!🤩🤤
Some laminators have different heat levels for different thickness that might help.
Very true, You can use copy paper to help cool it down, or use less paper if you need it a bit hotter.
Tip:
Even if you don't have a laser printer, and can't go anywhere to get it printed for you.
Amazing! can printing only be done on a laser printer not a normal printer?
Hi. It has to be a laser printer as it's the toner in that ink that reacts with the foil and makes it stick. I hope that helps!
Hi how are you what is the brand of your zip around planner great video thanks
Hope that helps!
i love the idea.
sadly, the toner for laser is quite expensive in my area :(
i'll just feast my eyes to these wonderful prints of yours
Thanks Andy. You could try getting things printed at your local office supply store if that was cheaper?
Great tips. I love how the effects are organic and I look forward to a trip to spotlight tomorrow so I can get stuck in :) Cheers
Thanks Natalie. I'd love to see what you come up with too!
Love this inspiring thank for the video u shared I’m a newbie came across your channel
Thanks so much Christina. I'm glad it helped!
Hi Plum_mashable!
By any chance, you know what went wrong when my foil sticks to the cardstock too? Like what happened at 19:42 in your video. I want my foil to stick on the toner ink, but it's stucked on the empty spaces with no toner as well. Any advice?
I have several laminators I had a minc but it burned up. Literally so no more minc for me. Great video.
I had a minc that burned up too Jeanne! I was very lucky and was able to buy a second hand one to replace it!
Thanks for the video. I'm wondering what laser printer should I use to get a clean result? because I've used more than one type of laser printers but the foil doesn't transfer all onto the paper
I use a brother one and don't have too much trouble. I think though its got more to do with the paper than the printer. If you can use a super smooth or coated paper, it will help enormously!
this is amazing! would i have to do the foiling fresh out the laser jet printer? or will it work even after a few days?
I'm not sure Reanna. I'll put that on a list to be filmed next time.
Only Lazer printers that use Toner. You can also buy toner pens and a paint that works like the printed toner. Hope this helps.
I love this! is there a type of thickness of cardstock that anyone recommends? i've been trying to do this on a thicker cardstock and idk if its the image/toner or the laminator, but it does not transfer at all or only just barely. :(( i've tried putting it sandwhiched in regular print paper, parchment paper, just the card and foil, and idk lol
def taking all tips and suggestions!!
It has a lot to do with the kind of paper you are using... the texture more than the weight. Is it a textured kind of cardstock? If you can get a smooth one you'll get a much better result. I hope that helps!
