Hi! With your videos I now realize I have a soft dramatic body type...but I don't like the diva look... is there a way to adapt my body requirements to a younger, more fresh and maybe minimal/ boho/ gypsy chic style? It's a log shot, but I really hope you can see this message. PS: love your videos, your style, the sweet way you talk about fashion and women 🙏🏼 hugs!
As a soft natural, I totally agree. It took me years before I've accepted that my dream clothes will not look good on me and started wearing better clothes albeit slowly. Now I know for sure what to wear and will make more of an effort to change my wardrobe to suit me. Thanks!
I've been wanting to change the way I dress for some time, and my idea of femineity was the soft natural look. I just found out about kibbe and I took the kibbe test and I get different results each time but I've ruled out dramatic, romantic, gamine and classic, so I must be a natural, and I think I'm soft natural
@@TaxingIsThieving I think you can add some "romantic" features, if you mix it with a natural feature. Example: you can use frills and intricate detail, but make it medium-big size, not so small/yin. I guess you could make a mix of "sloopy naturalness" and "polished romance" :)
@@TaxingIsThieving yeah doesnt it suck when you hate the style that is supposed to suit you? I feel the same but I prefer classic. I dont want to be sloppy and asymmetrical.
i'm a romantic and love the androgynous minimalist style 🙈 it's gonna be interesting trying to change my style into a more feminine one. anyways, still loving these videos!
Hi, Aly! I'm Brazilian and I don't speak English very well but I need to thank you. Those videos are very helpfull to me. Thank you very much. You are so dedicated and your job is really wonderful. I wish you a lot of success!
I'm romantic and many times I've leaned towards loose, unstructured clothing because I thought it would make me look lanky and think almost like a model but I've now realized that it just doesn't work that way! Shapeless clothing does NOT look good on romantic body types at all! It doesn't make the curvy body look thinner, the person just ends up looking frumpy.
I'm a romantic body type and personally i feel so good with baggy but tight on the waist types of clothes...straight lines in any directions look awful on me
What's interesting is that I've noticed that the silhouettes you advise against for my body type (soft classic) really don't look good on me. For example, you mentioned tapered sleeves are better for my type than loose sleeves, and you're so right! I stopped wearing loose sleeves ages ago and even donated some shirts with loose sleeves because they looked messy and sloppy on me. There are many other examples I can list, but in general I want to say great job with this! I've always believed that you can look beautiful no matter your shape or size as long as you know how to dress yourself, and this video is a great reference point. Thank you for your hard work on this. I'm looking forward to more.
Thank you so much! That's exactly what happened to me when I found this technology first, I forced myself to wear clothes that wasn't looking good on me just because it's popular.. But then I realised that I always felt bad in those clothes going out ))
amt she's saying that before she found that technology, she used to wear clothes that were unflattering just because they were trending. Now she knows what to wear according to her body type, ignoring passing trends.
So profesional, very detalled explicación, very organized and extremelly useful!!!! You are one of the most profesional youtubers ever and deserve all the best in your life!!! Blessings!!!
I changed my style of clothing about two years ago and it's been the most comfortable clothing of my life, and now I find out it's the exact clothing style for my body, flamboyant natural! Thank you for all your videos :)
As one of your first subscribers, I'm so grateful to have seen your channel blossom into what it is today. You continue to amaze me with your wonderful videos. keep it up you are much appreciated. I've said it before , and I'll say it again . you're my favorite UA-camr. love you and thank you for Sharing your wonderful knowledge with us. ♡
THANK YOU for telling me I am allowed to avoid tailored clothes as a theatrical romantic. I have never felt comfortable in them, and thought I was just buying the wrong size or that I was fat or something... lol. These have been so helpful since I've taken your body type quiz.
Excellent work, Ally! As a Soft Dramatic I always preferred dresses over mix&match on me, and now I know why. Your videos have really helped me feel confident in my style, much appreciated. 💜
love these so much... but i do wish in general that there were more modern examples for soft dramatic. of course sophia loren is amazing but i struggle to find good examples of what to wear for casual situations
Could you please do a video on the best hair styles for the different body types?? Ex:middle part with long flowing hair or ex:short with dramatic side part?? The best hair styles that flatter each body type? Thanks again for these videos!! Love love love them!!!
PRAISE AND PRONUNCIATION REFINEMENT TIPS - First of all, THANK YOU! Kibbe's book described with words the concepts that I needed to see in pictures, and you provided those pictures of styles so beautifully! It really helped me understand that I'm definitely Classic, with more yang than yin, even though I'm a tad over the height of a classic (and look terrible in the "natural" style apropriate to my height). I appreciate your expertise, and your detailed work. Also, though English is not your first language, your fluency is simply beautiful. You may have had someone point this out to you already, but just in case they haven't I wanted to help you out, though it will take me much less effort than it took for you to put together your wonderful videos. Slope, Sloped: this word has a long "o" sound instead of a short "o" sound. It rhymes with "Pope" and "hope" and "dope." Your pronunciation, which we would spell "slopped" is a sort of sloshing of a liquid - like pouring a liquid mess of leftover food into the feeding trough for pigs (pig slop, slopping the pigs), which is related to "sloppy" which you use accurately in other parts of your video. Bow - this is a "heteronym," because this spelling both sounds different and means something different depending on use. Use the long "o" sound when you want to talk about the bow on a garment or package, or a violin bow, or the verb for bending something. When talking about the bow of a ship, or the greeting where you bow to someone from the waist, the the word vowel sound is more like "sound," "house," and "ouch." ua-cam.com/video/qM7S33nvS5o/v-deo.html Matronly - instead of "muh-TRAHN-lee" it is pronounced "MAY-trun-lee." Listen here: ua-cam.com/video/7JVyfIN1wBI/v-deo.html Lapels - Instead of "LAY-puls," it is pronounced "luh-PELLS" ua-cam.com/video/mk3gHtXG4vg/v-deo.html Again, I really appreciate your videos. They are so professional, so beautifully done, and you are a charming and articulate speaker!
I'm so impressed with this series that I try and interpret my friends body types. Then i tell them about your channel. You're an international stylist for sure!
Wow. The photo examples you showed were great. It's amazing to see how some of the outfits looked awful on the wrong body types. It's interesting that an outfit can look so great on one type of body and so bad on another type. It's nice to understand why now.
This was SO helpful. I’m an FN, but am not so into the loose, loose, loose look. The difference between loose and unconstructed is subtle but speaks to me! Explains why in the sping/summer I’ve always looked good in straight legged or slightly skinny worn-in blue jeans that hug the hips and bum just a bit with a flowy top. Or sheath dresses. In the winter/fall skinny jeans (but not skin tight) that hit about an inch or two below the belly button. Tucked into over-the knee matte finished or suede boots of a similar tone (tan pants + camel boots or dark jeans + black boots). Relaxed sweater on top in a similar depth of color but a different tone (a jewel tone in winter or a burnt sienna in fall). Or a sweater or other thicker material cut like a shift dress with over the knee boots and similar colored tights. Can be a jewel toned sweater dress with black boots and 40 denier black tights to keep the length with a bit of sultriness.
i find horizontal stripes really compliment romantic types if the item is figure hugging. it reallyyy accentuates the hourglass figure because the lines around the bust and hips are more stretched out than the lines around the waist
Grecian tunic, flowy dresses, draped, whites or plain colors more than patterns. Try to look like a Greek goddess and go from there. It'll look awesome on you. Empire waistlines (Regency dresses) will also look great.
Your videos are always great! I appreciate the time you put in to research these things _just_ so you can help us, you are so selfless! I love you, girl! xx 😄❤❤
after years of searching and quizzes I found this site Ive just done the body shape quiz and am a soft classic, I could cry Im so happy it was so easy THANK YOU SO MUCH you are amazing!
Hi Aly! Great job once again. I love these, utterly inspiring. I do have one request: could you please write in the video description the minutes you start to talk about each type, for example "Gamine 05:33", that would make it easier to find the types and hear about them :) Thanks a bunch!
I am confident that I fall into the Gamine type, but I keep getting answers closest to Soft Classic. I think I may be answering incorrectly or something... But this video has helped A LOT, because it made me feel positive that I'm a Gamine based on what I already wear and feel best in compared to the clothing advice she gave :D Thanks, Aly!
This really drove home that I'm sure my type is theatrical romantic...I didn't feel very sure since I am quite tall and currently a bit over my preferred weight, but when I have worn the types of clothes recommended for the soft dramatic I look like I'm drowning in them!
I'm loving this series! I'm a soft classic and all your tips are confirming the style that I already love haha! Thanks for the very informative videos :)
Amal has such a great wardrobe and usually dresses perfectly for her type. Because she looked so good, I mistakenly wanted to copy style. However, I'm soft classic. Now that I have that clarity, I can build a wardrobe to suit ME. Thanks, Aly! 🙏
Thanks so much for your videos! I'm quite certain I'm a Soft Dramatic, but given I have very light/low contrast coloring I seem to have the ability to borrow a little from the Naturals, even a little of the Romantics. For a long time I thought I was SN mostly because of my coloring.
That's exactly the 'problem' i have. I know this is only a guide and in the end we should just wear whatever we want, but my figure (romantic) doesn't really match with my personal style the way i want it to.
Eugenia Kondrachuk it's just a guide. Wear whatever you want but some people do want help in choosing what's best for them to wear - thus videos like this. Wear what you want at the end of the day but it's sometimes nice to accentuate what you've got.
Eugenia Kondrachuk it is just a general guide. you will look amazing in anything worn with confidence that resonates with you. :) it would be too boring if you always adhered to the rules.
Great video! But what if I'm dramatic type, inverted triangle and I want to look more feminine, with some roundness? Please make a video to disguise body types.
Try the Justine LeConte channel if Aly hasn't done this yet! She has more emphasis on ways to look the way you want to, I am a petite inverted triangle and her videos were more helpful for me so far
I would guess that for you, going for clothes that are super-feminine will emphasise the contrast with your body type, but you could borrow from nearby body types in this system for things that are not perfect, but suit your personality more, while still not being a total clash
Naturals are inverted triangles, dramatics are long rectangles. So perhaps you're a natural of some sort. In any case, wearing soft, rounded clothing will only emphasize the angularity of your bone structure even more (if you really are a dramatic).
I know I’m replying to an old comment, but the purpose of this Kibbe system isn’t to disguise your body type, but to work with it. If you want to disguise your body type, you might want to look to a different system. There is some peace in celebrating they way you are, however.
TR funny how everything I should avoid was everything I wanted to get rid of anyways , I bought this drapey dress and I'm so in love with it it emphasises my waist so well and cannot wait to pair with ornate earrings! and heels
Hello Aly, I am SOOO glad I found your channel!!! You are very talented and knowledgeable! I am enjoying you trips and tricks while I am on holiday! Best wishes to you Roxie
this series is so interesting and informative! I absolutely love and appreciate your work! You have such an artistic and yet scientific view of beauty! Huge fan!!
Thank you for introducing the body types, I didn't know about this system before you talked about it in your videos - knowing what types of clothing actually fit my body type helps heaps now I'm cleaning out my wardrobe :D
Your insight is always so compelling! How do you realize these things? Amazing job!!! Does anyone know the name of the soft gamine with the short hair? I'm obsessed w her! LOLOL
I think knowing a style icon who epitomizes each shape could be helpful....in studying their style to create our own, once we figure ourselves out , that is !
Great video as always. I love how everything is described in such depth. Now I just need to decide between one of the gamine choices and theatrical romantic...
I’m a Romantic shape(hourglass) …and gravitate to a more classic, waist defined ,50’s look. That being said,a well tailored blazer with curved edges is fantastic! While I agree with soft edges, curves,& feminine touches. I’m not into frills, bows or lace. But love flowers in my hair.💕
i hav figured out the details i need to add in my wardrobe with the help of your guide and this video. But I am still little confused as the images in this video are mostly red carpet looks. Can u pls do part 2 of this video using certain images of outfits as guide for daily wear?😊The information you provide really helpful as I have some clothes which actually has the details you said about...like ruffles, bows, soft outline and many more ! Thankyou Aly ❤
I love your video's. Could you make one for shoes and especially boots (winter) for the different body types? I often get shorter and seem more heavy with winter boots. Thanks from Denmark
One tip I have for dramatic girls with a casual personal style: a big, oversized men's t-shirt over short shorts. Rather than looking sloppy, the straight line from the shoulders down to the legs looks amazing. I used to be frustrated that the high-waisted shorts and crop top combo just didn't look that great on me, but now I see that the unbroken vertical line looks SO much better! Thank you Aly!
Another awesome video, Aly! You explain things so well, with great examples. I would love to see a video on casual and office outfits for Romantics - as we obviously can't wear all those chiffon dresses all the time :0). Also, do you think there are outfits in which Romantics can wear comfortable shoes like sneakers and not look ridiculous?
Hello! Let me start by saying I LOVE your content! I have learned so much about my style from listening to your educational videos. Im a dramatic classic and some areas im still struggling with are casual outfits like swimsuits, workout wear (including what style of tennis shoes, shorts, etc), and in between season clothing pieces (most of what Ive seen have been wide strap tank top or long sleeve with structured jacket, but what about spring and fall when a little sleeve is needed but not necessarily long sleeve? Or what about casual shorts?). I would love to hear any ideas/suggestions you might have!
i'm going to have to look into this more. all the unstructured and loose clothes mentioned for flamboyant natural always make me feel top heavy because of my broad shoulders... and I never wear chunky jewelry. lets see what I can integrate
Hi Aly! Amazing video! Thank you! Ca you make a video with brands for different types? E.g. Dior, Celine, Balenciaga, Max Mara? I think Miu Miu is purely a Gamine brand. Celine is purely Dramatic, and Dior is Dramatic Classic... Do you agree?
This hair is my FAVORITE hair on you! So sleek and flattering, the added length is just the touch to really frame your face! Please do a video on taller women 5'6-5'7 that are moderate curvy that might be TR or SC or SD I literally cant figure it out, all these styles favor me... I lean toward Romantic, but im a tall Romantic, im not sure. I have measurements like Christina Hendricks we even have the same birthday! You have her typed as SD otherd have her typed as TR due to her curves so please do a video on how to tell! Thank you
What about the hair? Is there any specific type of hairstyle for each type of body and face? Thank you so much for this videos! Love ❤️ from Colombia 🇨🇴
I know this video is a bit old, but maybe you still get this message. I love your videos so much. Still, I would really appreciate if you could do a video for the bigger ladies amongst us, according to the body types. That would help so much! Thank you and lot's of love
This body type series has been super interesting to watch even though I still feel like I'm not quite sure what type I am. I think I might be a flamboyant gamine (I'm 5'3 in height, with a lot a straight or mostly straight lines in my body, big hands and feet, long arms, narrow eyes and slightly high, broad cheekbones with full lips and a rounded nose) and watching this kind of made sense for the types of clothing people have often complimented me in.
savannahissavvy I'm with you in that I love this series but am honestly still confused. I can see the differences clearly in the examples but I can't see myself there.
I love you and your videos!! They have helped a lot! I'm almost afraid to share this, because I don't want to be critical...After all, your English is extremely good! There are just a few words that you may want to check the pronunciation on. Delicate, intricate and sloped . Those words come up a lot. They are not pronounced at all like their spellings. Please don't be offended though! We all love you and appreciate you. I mean this suggestion in the kindest way.
I love this so much, this changed how I shop forever! I'm dramatic classic, could you give me some names of some celebrities with that body type so that i can reference and get some style inspiration?
You had my body type perfect. I am the "natural" shape and I agree tailored and oversized clothing looks...wrong on my shape. Some really good points, and I'm going to try not to use mono colours for my outfits from now on. And I'm definitely going to invest in some more unstructured jackets and jumpers!

It’s amazing because whenever I followed these rules in my life, I felt beautiful. & I’m just finding out about these today.
Aly could you please do a video on what colors will look good on us or provide another resource? thanks!
This really drove home that I'm sure my type is theatrical romantic...I didn't feel very sure since I am quite tall and currently a bit over my preferred weight, but when I have worn the types of clothes recommended for the soft dramatic I look like I'm drowning in them!
It's amazing how every image ID is unique, even if they belong to a family. 🌻
I just love your videos. They are so helpful and real. Your voice is also so soothing! I can't get enough of these videos!
Thank you very much ))
Thank you for so much information!! Your beauty series has transformed my mind.
I'm loving this series! I'm a soft classic and all your tips are confirming the style that I already love haha! Thanks for the very informative videos :)
I love hearing your accent everytime you said "details".
The shorter hair looks AMAZING on you!! Much better than the long
Thank you very much ))
what if the recommended style doesn't resonate with my personality?
Eugenia Kondrachuk You need to reevaluate the way you carry yourself on the outside
Ami Schleu to get what as result?
That's exactly the 'problem' i have. I know this is only a guide and in the end we should just wear whatever we want, but my figure (romantic) doesn't really match with my personal style the way i want it to.
Eugenia Kondrachuk it's just a guide. Wear whatever you want but some people do want help in choosing what's best for them to wear - thus videos like this. Wear what you want at the end of the day but it's sometimes nice to accentuate what you've got.
Eugenia Kondrachuk it is just a general guide. you will look amazing in anything worn with confidence that resonates with you. :) it would be too boring if you always adhered to the rules.
id buy almost every dramatic classic outfit you showed a picture of!!! love it!
What do easy swirls and elongated swirls mean? I'm a soft natural and am trying to figure it out :D
Great video!
But what if I'm dramatic type, inverted triangle and I want to look more feminine, with some roundness?
Please make a video to disguise body types.
You can't "disguise" it, sorry.
TR funny how everything I should avoid was everything I wanted to get rid of anyways , I bought this drapey dress and I'm so in love with it it emphasises my waist so well and cannot wait to pair with ornate earrings! and heels
I love these videos. More!
Thank you very much ))
Your insight is always so compelling! How do you realize these things? Amazing job!!! Does anyone know the name of the soft gamine with the short hair? I'm obsessed w her! LOLOL
Zayda miroslava duma?
Zayda most of the photos for soft gamine are of Jenna Coleman! She's a wonderful British actress :)
Zayda It's David Kibbe who 'invented' all those type in 80'/70'. He has FB.
id love to see a "summer dresses for types"! it'd be very useful ! thank you!
Thank you! It would be great a video about sport style/athleisure/clothes for gym for body types :)
Really enjoy your videos and appreciate the work you put into making them. Very well done.
I keep returning to this. Thank you for the so well documented video.
I think knowing a style icon who epitomizes each shape could be helpful....in studying their style to create our own, once we figure ourselves out , that is !
Love your videos. Maybe also you can do a video about the lines of the face+head and what hairstyles fit which shape best? 💕
Thank you very much )) Sure one of next ))
Yes this is what we need to know after learning the types--how to dress! Excellent video! Who needs a stylist? :)
I can't believe how many exact examples ! amazing
I really love this series, and I think it's amazing, I think it would be fun to do one for men as well though!
Thank you very much ))
Another awesome video, Aly!
Great series, Aly!
Ana Ortiz Go take the quiz on this same channel. It does ask about hair.
Outstanding series! I learned a lot. Thank you!
Thank you very much ))
I know this video is a bit old, but maybe you still get this message.
I can see the differences clearly in the examples but I can't see myself there.
savannahissavvy you sound like soft or flamboyant gamine
Gabriella Garcia Yeah, I think I'm somewhere between the two, leaning just a bit more to flamboyant.
You are such a gem! I love your channel
CAN YOU PLEASE DO AN AMY LEE MAKEUP TUTORIAL???I THINK YOU'D KILL IT.LOVE YOUR VIDEOS XX💖💖💄
Thank you very much ))
I will try!
I wish you had all of this written out on a blog!
I love the effort you put into your videos, and your originality 💓
Thank you very much ))
I love you and your videos!!
I love contrast between top and bottom clothing as a theatrical romantic i feel it accentuates my waist even more
Please add more everyday examples for the soft classic
thanks so much for this! I'm ready to take myself on a shopping spree :p
And I'm definitely going to invest in some more unstructured jackets and jumpers!
finally someone I trust explains kibbe, thank you!
I love this series! It helps a lot.
I am an afghan girl and i love your videos 😊❤❤
Seems to me that Flamboyant Natural look best in Boho style. But I don't like it, I also don't like big accessories. Is there any other option?
I'm happy this was in my recommended section!!!! :)
One more sub for you!!
