I sized up and for “row 11” which for me is actually row 19, I always end on a double stitch whereas she ends on a single stitch and starts the next row with a double. I’m confused as to why ;-; what am I doing wrong
I did this! It still came out perfect! Just keep going…go with what your pattern is! The turning points were DC, SC, DC in that corner stitch, then continue the lemon peel stitch. If you end on a DC, chain ONE, flip and SC into it :) hope this helps!

No I get the same thing whenever I make a cup! I think I’m going to try to wet block it over a pad from a sports bra and see if that helps it lay right
I made this 2 times, one in white and one in black, and let me tell you 1. it is more draining and time consuming than some of the other tops i ve tried on youtube, but at the same time as a garment and a project it is the most wholesome. The tutorial is 100% clear for you to follow as an absolute beginner, you just need patience. It is particularly helpful that she mentions not just the number of chains but the inches as well, as everyone crochets in different tightness

I’m so confused on the cup part.. it was all super easy to understand until we were making the triangle part… well mine isn’t becoming a triangle it’s still a rectangle… it was never a square because my cup size is bigger
Yeah me too. To make the cups a triangle at the end of the third row, instead of turning your work, you should make 3 sc stitches into the middle stitch and then carry on down the other side, There's plenty of easy to follow videos on making cups, I'm sure you could use that method for the cups and just follow the rest of the pattern from this video. ❤❤❤

In the first row after the square, do 3 point like a corner and continued sd, dc in the next side of the square. In the second row do sc dc alternatively. In the third, do dc and sc. And do 2* y 3* row to do the cup

What weight yarn did you use? When I look up "3-ply" yarn, that seems to be equivalent to a weight 0 (fingering/lace), but that seems super thin for a top.
@@taranye4796 This might be too late but I have always used 4ply milk cotton yarn and that comes up to DK/light worsted in universal terms. So 3ply might be in weight 2 or sport.

When you finish the last row of the square, in the last stitch you add two stitches in pattern (so if you finish on the SC you add DC and SC. If you finish at DC you add SC and DC). That way you are straightening the corner for the next rows. Then you move down the side of the square, still in pattern, treat the side as a continuation of the row. When you get to the last stitch, you add chain of one or two, depends on what stitch you've finished and start next row as always. No need to add or modify any more stitches, you've done that on the corner, so now you just have longer row because you use two sides of the square instead of one. But other than that there is no difference.

This was such a cute top, but a lot more involved than I thought it would be! (However I am new to garment making, so if you regularly do this kind of thing you'll be fine.) I'm a xl/2x and made it with the Walmart brand 100% cotton and used about 2.5 skeins. For the bra cup I did a 4" square, but I wish I would've done 4.5" instead for a little more coverage. I also repeated the bottom pattern under the cups a couple more times to make it a little longer. One thing I did differently was add another row of single crochet along the lace holes for more support as just the chain stitches for the holes were very weak. I will definitely make another pattern by Chenda! She is so talented and clear with her instructions

I had this problem too! Here’s some tips: 1. Make sure it’s a square at first like at 9:39. It should never look like a rectangle! 2. After doing the increase at 10:54 the side you continue to make the stitches on needs to end at the tail where you did your slip knot 3. On row 2 when you get to the corner (14:42) skip one stitch, sc, skip one stitch, dc 4. Don’t skip any stitches in the following rows

На 3 этаже есть отдел с пряжей, пряжа та что ближе к вам за стеклом рядом со следующим отделом украшений это и есть та самая пряжа из которой я вязала. Я использовала детскую пряжу, там будут мотки среднего размера, целая палитра цветов! Я может сегодня ещё раз вам напишу. Просто я сейчас не дома и не знаю точно какую пряжу использовала.

i’m at the part of making the cup where you crochet around two of the rectangle edges and it seems like i won’t be able to alternate my starting stitch for each row from DC to SC because i have an even amount of stitches. does anyone know if I can still finish the project this way? :)

I suppose you decreased once, in general if you increase, you have one stitch more, and decreasing works the other way. Decreasing is not skipping stitches, for anyone who's reading this. There are good tutorials but if someone needs a written description: Look at the next stitch your crochet piece, I wouldn't decrease right at the beginning, but somewhere in the middle. Take the front loop in that exact stitch, and insert the hook. Don't yarn over, but put the hook in the second one right through the first loop. Now you have the front loops of the first and second stitch. Now you can yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops and you can do a single crochet. Boom, now you have one stitch less :D. If you want to increase, just do what she did, for example, put 2 single crochets in one stitch if you're currently working with single crochets. It works with every stitch, depending on what you're currently doing or wanting to achieve :) I hope that helped anyone who read it
Its not clear after the 11th row on witch side you continue because you turn the square 2 if not 3 times and its frustrating because it is not cleare how the square becomes a cup...

The cup was really hard to understand. I restarted it about 3 times until I got it. What you have to do is after the round corner, keep going until the end of that row. And then turn and keep alternating SC and DC from where you came from. You are going back and forth on the same two sides of the square you just worked on. If tou go around all sides lf the square, it doesn't work. Work on the same two sides and it'll create a bra cup shape.

I'm having a go at making this. One thing I've found is when you make the square the start the bottom of the cup by going down the sides it would be helpful if you told us how many stitches you should be left with especially for us newbies. Apart from that I am following easily although I'm only up to the joining of the cups at the moment.
I am slightly confused row 1-11 should be 3 inches. After that we add about 2 more row. Which you said is 3inches. So im total it should be aboutb6 inches right?
Love this cute little top! It's not for me but for my daughter who is working abroad on a cruise line in some warm climates. It's a great design because of the lace so it should fit her if i make the small. It's light enough to mail it! I have a size 3 weighted yarn right here in a slate but it looks more like a steely deep purple. She loves that colour. It can be dressed up with high waisted pants and a jacket! Your tutorial is pretty easy to follow. I watch videos first, rewatch while writing pattern in a notebook, I then I make it, referring to video if needed. All your projects look like they are in line with my daughter's style. Thanks for this beautiful pattern!

I love this pattern, it took me all week to finish. had a few ups and downs because i only read the directions when I have to. would have saved myself a lot of time if I didn't presume your next stitches. It's for my granddaughter who's 25. I made some dresses which were a little less complicated. Thank you, you are very talented.
I just made this for my daughter. I modified the cups to make it an XXS/XS but left the rest of the row amounts the same for the length and made the back panels a bit longer to cover more of the back. I kept the strap length and the straps come all the way down to her ankles after being woven into the side panels. I could have absolutely made the chain 132 instead of 232. It worked up super fast. I'd say around 8 hours total. Not bad for a cute little top
@@elizabethbartum9886 I made the initial chain about 2.5" long and made the rows equal that as well, instead of the 3" she says in the video. I also made the back portions more rows (she wanted it to cover her back more). I did tear out the straps and trim between the cups and redo the straps to be 132 chains instead of 232. And it was SO much better for her.

Its an absolute trust the process kinda thing. If you switch between sc and dc following the sides of the square it turns into Triangle if you keep crocheting. I dont know how it works but for me it still worked out all the time
i’m starting fine but after the 3rd row the square keeps getting shorter. i’ve restarted 10 times and watch the video as i do it and i still do the same thing every time. i’ve hit a wall and i’m stuck.

I don't understand how we're turning a square into a triangle..
That also confused me at first. So, the initial square you make becomes the top part of the cup, but rotated to be a diamond. When you start row 11 (now row 1 for the bottom), you have to crochet across the bottom two edges of the square. That counts as one full row. At 11:00, she says to continue alternating SC and DC. That's continuing the stitch pattern on the next side of the square. Then, you do the chains, turn, and start row 2, which will continue back across those two edges. The more rows you add, it will start to curve out the bottom corner of the square so that it looks more triangular/tear drop shaped rather than like a diamond. Hope that helps!

I loved this tutorial so much! I’m an absolute beginner and it turned out amazing. Only struggle for me was finding out the sizing, I accidentally made mine two sizes to big😂

Do you have any recommendations on how to figure out the sizing? I'm also a beginner! Also, what weight yarn did you use? When I look up "3-ply" yarn, that seems to be equivalent to a weight 0 (fingering/lace), but that seems super thin for a top.

that does not make any sense. How a square can become a triangle. I followed all the steps to the letter, nothing corresponds... It's not detailed enough.

@@ДашаКорниенко-ы4ч я не могу сейчас точно сказать, но если вы живëте в Нижнем Новгороде, то вы скорее всего знаете магазин Ашан. На 3 этаже есть отдел с пряжей, пряжа та что ближе к вам за стеклом рядом со следующим отделом украшений это и есть та самая пряжа из которой я вязала. Я использовала детскую пряжу, там будут мотки среднего размера, целая палитра цветов! Я может сегодня ещё раз вам напишу. Просто я сейчас не дома и не знаю точно какую пряжу использовала.

i’m at the part of making the cup where you crochet around two of the rectangle edges and it seems like i won’t be able to alternate my starting stitch for each row from DC to SC because i have an even amount of stitches. does anyone know if I can still finish the project this way? :)

I suppose you decreased once, in general if you increase, you have one stitch more, and decreasing works the other way. Decreasing is not skipping stitches, for anyone who's reading this. There are good tutorials but if someone needs a written description:
Look at the next stitch your crochet piece, I wouldn't decrease right at the beginning, but somewhere in the middle.
Take the front loop in that exact stitch, and insert the hook. Don't yarn over, but put the hook in the second one right through the first loop. Now you have the front loops of the first and second stitch.
Now you can yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops and you can do a single crochet. Boom, now you have one stitch less :D.
If you want to increase, just do what she did, for example, put 2 single crochets in one stitch if you're currently working with single crochets. It works with every stitch, depending on what you're currently doing or wanting to achieve :)

Its not clear after the 11th row on witch side you continue because you turn the square 2 if not 3 times and its frustrating because it is not cleare how the square becomes a cup...
My breast cup looks very pointy...any way to fix this after the fact? Ironing etc? Wasn't going for a classic Lara Croft look lol!

The cup was really hard to understand. I restarted it about 3 times until I got it.
What you have to do is after the round corner, keep going until the end of that row. And then turn and keep alternating SC and DC from where you came from. You are going back and forth on the same two sides of the square you just worked on. If tou go around all sides lf the square, it doesn't work. Work on the same two sides and it'll create a bra cup shape.

I just finished one cup and it's kinda pointy? Did I do something wrong or does the "pointiness" go away when you wear it and it stretches a little?
I'm having a go at making this. One thing I've found is when you make the square the start the bottom of the cup by going down the sides it would be helpful if you told us how many stitches you should be left with especially for us newbies. Apart from that I am following easily although I'm only up to the joining of the cups at the moment.

Love this cute little top! It's not for me but for my daughter who is working abroad on a cruise line in some warm climates. It's a great design because of the lace so it should fit her if i make the small. It's light enough to mail it! I have a size 3 weighted yarn right here in a slate but it looks more like a steely deep purple. She loves that colour. It can be dressed up with high waisted pants and a jacket! Your tutorial is pretty easy to follow. I watch videos first, rewatch while writing pattern in a notebook, I then I make it, referring to video if needed. All your projects look like they are in line with my daughter's style. Thanks for this beautiful pattern!

I love this pattern, it took me all week to finish. had a few ups and downs because i only read the directions when I have to. would have saved myself a lot of time if I didn't presume your next stitches. I just made this for my daughter. I modified the cups to make it an XXS/XS but left the rest of the row amounts the same for the length and made the back panels a bit longer to cover more of the back. I kept the strap length and the straps come all the way down to her ankles after being woven into the side panels. I could have absolutely made the chain 132 instead of 232. It worked up super fast. I'd say around 8 hours total. Not bad for a cute little top

@@elizabethbartum9886 I made the initial chain about 2.5" long and made the rows equal that as well, instead of the 3" she says in the video. I also made the back portions more rows (she wanted it to cover her back more). I did tear out the straps and trim between the cups and redo the straps to be 132 chains instead of 232. And it was SO much better for her.

Its an absolute trust the process kinda thing. If you switch between sc and dc following the sides of the square it turns into Triangle if you keep crocheting. I dont know how it works but for me it still worked out all the time
i’m starting fine but after the 3rd row the square keeps getting shorter. i’ve restarted 10 times and watch the video as i do it and i still do the same thing every time. i’ve hit a wall and i’m stuck.
