@@jerryg.kenney5666 the relationships were really just hard to watch, most of all Harry and Ginnys relationship, where in the books they were played out perfectly and it just seemed to flow with the book
YES. So many small moments between Harry and Dumbledore were cut from the films, their relationship in the books felt so much more developed and realistic
The fact that the book is only mentioned twice in the movie is utter bullshit. If theres one thing I remember its them mentioning that Harry practically slept with it, and you can see him read it often
The only importance it has in the film is that it helps Harry win Felix Felicis from Slughorn and it teaches him a spell that almost kills Malfoy. It definitely is BS that it hardly has any uses in this film. After all, it IS called "Harry Potter and the HALF BLOOD PRINCE". This movie should have been called "Harry Potter and the Sixth Year at Hogwarts" instead due to the lack of the book.
@@elephant35e you say that as if we ever saw the goblet of fire after it was used to determine the champions. Not at all saying it held as much importance as HBP book, just saying title relevance has never been an issue.
@Roll tide Roll You're missing the point. They added several filler scenes and emphasized less important points, rather than put more focus on the serious aspects of the book. Like the person said earlier, Harry took that potions book everywhere he went and was obsessed with it. It should have been more in the front, rather than a background point. Movieflame mentioned places where they could have saved time to add in more important information. No one is saying to put everything in, just change some things around.
@@bandotaku my favorite thing is that the book was mentioned so rarely, that when Snape dramatically revealed that he is the half blood prince everyone who didn't read the books was like:the who? But in the book it was this super dark, and confusing and earth shattering moment for Harry, it was another hit to him, that the "person" who helped him so much and the "person" he grew to trust is the man who he now hates more than anything in the world, the one who killed Dumbledore. What a waste really lol
I especially dislike how after Harry casts sectumsempra on Draco, in the books after doing it, he kneels beside Draco apologizing, but in the film he stands there. That’s not like harry.
I don't think he should have done it though. And Ginny just blindly told him he's right while Hermione called him out on his BS. Harry could have been in serious trouble, and Ginny didn't even call him out.
@@groot8950 well in the book draco tried to crucio harry and that's why ginny defended harry and said that it was out of self defense. like she didn't say it was perfectly fine but she said that he shouldn't be hated for it because he did it out of self defense.
Daniel Radcliff has proven (EVEN in this very series) that he can portray a boy in love with a girl and have it be believable and genuinely sweet. He did it with Cho. He gazed at her on the train, he spilled his juice when she was looking at him. There was that whole moment when he kissed her in the Room of Requirement. With Ginny, we see VERY LITTLE, if any, of that behavior. He has more chemistry with HERMIONE, and even Luna, than he does with Ginny, who is meant to be his girlfriend.
It's coz Emma and Daniel are friends off set, not to mention he had a crush on her when they were little. Bonnie and Daniel hardly have any chemistry not to mention they completely pulvarized Ginny's character. Even Harry was very different in the books. So yeah, it's the directors fault, they were clearly pushing for Harry and Hermione since the start, and they even said it themselves that they thought that two main characters, a boy and a girl are meant to end up together.
@@rabiyaashraf950 That has absolutely nothing to do with it. The lack of chemistry between Harry and Ginny was solely a writing problem; not an acting problem. Nothing that you typed explains the incompetent writing whatsoever
@@rabiyaashraf950 the problem is that Ron is meant to be the 2nd most important character in the series (only behind Harry), but Steve Kloves was so in love with Hermione that he pulverized Ron's characterization and elevated Hermione to that place. The only reason that people saw Hermione as a good fit for Harry was because her character in the films was made to be practically flawless. In the books, its very clear that Harry and Hermione do not have chemistry and would not be a good match. In the films, its the opposite.
@@suzanne5574 Thank you! I hated Ginny. She was horrible in the second book. She knew she was the one opening the chamber of secrets, she knows the diary is involved. But she doesn't say anything. Doesn't get help. Lets student after student get attacked, risks having someone get killed, lets Harry be suspected, lets Dumbledore get fired, and worst of all, lets Hagrid be accused and dragged off to jail! And doesn't try to get help!!! And in the end, when everything's discovered she sobs...but not for all the people (including Hermione) who've spent the year in a coma, not for Harry, not for Dumbledore, not even for Hagrid. No, she sobs for herself because she's scared she'll be expelled!!! What a selfish sociopath. After that she just always seemed a bit skanky and desperate for male attention to be honest. And she was also mean to Neville. When they have the ball in book four and Harry and Ron are wondering who Neville's taking she admits it's her and acts like she is embarrassed and too good for Neville. She says something like well it's the only way I'd get to go...Yeah, never liked her.
@@mathcat4 Ya and then now dumbledore has come to respect harry so much that he said he'll be fine as long as he was with him bc he new no matter wat happend harry would protect both of them
The biggest mistake is the film doesn’t have Dumbledore freeze Harry in the astronomy tower. It was way out of Harry’s character to stay below and not intervene. Dumbledore knew this and that’s exactly why he froze him in the book. Huge flaw in the film IMO.
Exactly! Harry was basically just standing there doing nothing while the man he respected the most was fighting an army of Death Eaters. So unlike his character. Compare that to the Order of the Phoenix where he joins Sirius even when Sirius asks him to stay away.
If Dumbledore did not Stun Harry, the actual scene would have been: “Severus... Please...” *Harry runs and grabs Draco, Bellatrix and Snape* Dumbledore thinking: _boy let me die it is a part of the plan stupid boy_ *Snape smacks Harry at the back of his head.* Harry: _Stupefy!_ *Bellatrix is stunned.* Draco cries: _Get away, Potter!_ *Snape pushes Harry to the floor and:* Snape says: _Stupefy!_ *Harry is Stunned, and he watches Snape and Draco get closer to Dumbledore, sobbing.* Snape: _Avada Kedavra!_ Dumbledore thinking: _that’s better. At least I will rest in peace and the plan will succeed._ Harry: _bruh Dumbledore so dumb_
Harry carelessly reading the Daily Prophet in public, then leaving it unattended on the table was just another example of careless screenwriting. Regarding the burning of the Burrow, it was an insane addition, especially when the burrow appears unscathed in the next movie, and with no explanation with regard to the fire. Also, not a single witch or wizard made a move to save the home; they simply watched it burn. No spells cast. A ridiculously stupid decision. I'll go one further that the filmmakers left out an important exchange that was in the novel showing Harry's defiance to the new Minister of Magic; something that would have made the Dumbledore Will Scene in the next movie dramatically exciting.
And one added note: As this movie was Greyback's introduction to movie audiences, it featured him appropriately. However, the following book featured him some more as the leader of a group of snatchers but in the movie, the leader was switched and Greyback became a background character in different-looking makeup. I never understood that writing choice. I really hope the series is redone and redone faithfully to the novels. The book series deserves as much.
I actually just watched a video by Harry Potter THeory, and let me first state that I really do like his channel, where he lists his picks for twenty times the books bombed and the movies were great. He actually mentions the burning of the Burrow as one of those great moments . Sorry, no.
Dumbledore-I noticed you have been spending a great deal of time with miss Granger. Me-They have been spending a great time since they were 11 years old.
I wish they made Lavender and Ron an annoying minor thing and then let Ron and Hermione have a cute attraction to each other. Focusing on the relationships, especially with Lavender, was annoying.
For me it was the missing fight at the end. It was like the death eaters could just stroll into Hogwarts, kill Dumbledore and leave without any resistance. Boo!
Xehanort10 Not only that, but Bellatrix wasn’t present during the battle of the astrononomy tower in the book. She was only present in the at the beginnning of book 6.
@Frogs and Cats true but thats in the film as well. Remember the scene where Draco puts an apple in the cabinet and it comes back with a bite out of it.
This one gets me, although people never seem to bring it up...... ‘Kill me like you killed him, you coward-’ ‘DON’T-’ screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman, as though he was in as much pain as the yelping, howling dog stuck in the house behind them- ‘CALL ME COWARD!’
Exactly! Shit made me cry when I was 15 back in 2016 and read it for the first time. I was excited to see this movie too but when I saw the lack of the Gaunts and insane levels of romance I was like…huh?
I read the book after I watched the movie, but I know exactly what you mean. Harry's very outspoken and even hot-headed sometimes. He says and does things that he feels is right without thinking about what other people will say.
They went for funny and didn’t even include the funniest part in the series, and it would have shown more of the half blood princes book too, which was when Snape asked to see Harrys school books and he took Ron‘a copy of advanced potions making which had roonil wazlib written in it because of Fred and George’s dodgy autocorrect (for want of better term) quill
My biggest complaint was that the horcruxes and the memories about Voldemort were basically left unexplained. I would love to know if people who didn't read the books even understood what was going on in the last 2 movies when it came to how to defeat Voldemort.
Mreffs101 I’ve never read the books (I know I’m a disgrace). But I did know what was going on in the last 2 movies. Though I think that was due to the fact that my older brother has read the books, so he probably explained it to me at some point while watching.
Ive watched it with a few people who hadn't read the books and they had no fucking idea what was going on and it only gets worse when they watch the 7th film
i have only watched the movies, plan on getting the books when i save up enough money, and i only worked it out by piecing together what slughorn had told Tom Riddle in his memories and also assuming horcruxes worked like the 'one ring' from LOTR
The only good thing they did in comparison to the books was the word ‘Horcrux’s reveal.. In the book, you come across the word Horcrux but Dumbledore tells Harry to find the meaning of it and what Slughorn truly spoke with Tom.. In the movie, the word itself is revealed along with the truth, making Dumbledore’s reaction perfect for it.. If he knew it was a Horcrux, he’d have never wore Tom’s mother’s ring aka the Resurrection Stone.. Also, in Deathly Hallows Part 1, there is a deleted scene where Harry discusses with Hermione the theory behind Voldemort’s selection of Horcruxes, something which was left out from movie 6, and sadly from Part 1 as well..
I hated the forced in romance in this. It could've been all cut out and focused on Voldermort's origins. I mean seriously, when I first walked out of the film, my reaction was, "Did I just watched Twilight?"
For me the worst part of this movie was the Death Eaters blowing up the Weasleys' house. In the Deathly Hallows, the Death Eaters don't even know the location of the Weasleys' house and only find out after Voldemort has infiltrated the Ministry. It's so frustrating to see them commit such a big blunder as this.
Are you sure that’s true? Seems a bit unbelievable that they wouldn’t know where the Weasley‘s house is. I always thought the ministry had put some spells on the house and that made it impossible to attack until the ministry fell.
The Humans should've gone to war against the wizard kind, that would've shown that Voldemort and Salazar were right all along, for not wanting non-wizard's in the magic world
I hate it because in the books not even they aren't a couple, they are not even talking to each other... There is this whole thing going on with them, Lupin going on dangerous missions to stay away from Tonks, and Tonks being so depressed that she looses her metamorphmagus powers, and het patronus change and many other things...One of the best "scene" in the books when Harry asks Lupin about hoe could her patronus change, and Remus and Molly are just like "shit" 😂 Oh and don't forget the scene when everyone is around Bill after he was bitten by Greyback, and Tonks tells Remus that she loves him, and even McGonagall ships them, that is such a powerful scene. (And when Fleur sais she is pretty enough for both og them, that is superior) I really loved these in the books and I'm so mad that they totally left it out from the movie. They should have not include that many scene with Lavender and the awkward Hinny stuff, In my opinion Tonks and Lupin, and Bill and Fluer are a lot more interesting
I'm quite fond of Tonks. Pity the movies give her so little screen time when she's awesome, and I believe many book fans love her. She's got a solid presence in the book.
THIS! One of the main reasons why I loved the books more than the movies. I mean, I loved the film adaptations from 1 to 4, but starting from the 5th one, I just stopped watching. Ironically, the 5th book was my most favorite out of all the HP books.
@@BlazeStar2095 @Mhel Lopez i love the 5th book too. At least i did, haven't reread hp book for some years. Sirius was less pleasant than before. But i still put it within understandable range, he did spend all these years locked up. But what harm is there to use polyjuice potion or transfiguration to change his appearance and go outside? Whats dangerous about that? Dumbledore can be....unreasonable sometimes. Well, padfoot still my favorite, and first time i read the book as a kid and saw he died i was really upset. Didnt want to believe it. Love all the drama involving umbridge. She's the most loathsome character for me in hp franchise, much more than voldemort. Secret rebel group is exciting. And the pranks from the whole school amused me to no end. And dumbledore...dumbledore still wears bows on his beard, blue, pink, shiny robes with stars or any number of cute things. But with our old and more book accurate professor passed away, new professor is much less colorful. The tone for the entire character changed. It suits the darker tone for later movies...but well. If dumbledore was like the 3rd year one when i start as a 1st year, i probably wouldnt think him wise or genius, or as magical. His eyes dont twinkle anymore. Sigh. Wanted to see how people think of dumbledore when he continued to be like the first two films and thus like in the book. Mr. Harris played him to be so likable. Maybe there wouldnt be so many dumbledore dark manipulator fanfic then. Haha.
I watched the movie first, and before I read the book I had no idea who the hell Tonks was. Like I heard the name, and I guessed that Nymphadora was Tonks, but it wasn't until I read the books that I realised she was like a shapeshifter (can't remember what it's called in the wizarding world) which was why she could change her face. I also wasn't sure if she was the one who died at the end of DH pt2
The way they just destroyed Ginny's character and subsequently, her relationship with Harry, pisses me off to this day. They were my favorite couple and in the books seemed to come together so organically , ugh. I hope if they ever reboot the series they do this justice, but then again I don't think they should reboot it any time soon , it was a huge franchise and I'd have a hard time replacing the original actors in my mind.
I honestly dont want them to remake the movies, cause I only think of as Daniel Radcliffe as harry, like i wouldnt be able to replace him or all the other actors. It would be nice to have something new but honestly, I would be sooo confused. I dont think anything else can compare to the og hp series....
@Olaf the Snowman very true, u made a good point whoever im torn, on the one hand i want a new harry potter film to watch but also i donyt rlly want them remade, like maybe they could make a marauders back story or dumbledores childhood movie, or an actual continuation to the series cause I DO NOT LIKE THE CURSED CHILD and i want a good movie made like all of those i think would do rlly well in the fandom, so i think thats a very good idea to like make films like that instead of remake!
This explains why I see so many people saying that Ginny was a flat character and that Harry should've ended up with Hermione. Those people presumably only watched the movies, and only draw assumptions from movie Ginny.
I'm still fuming they didn't include Dumbledore's funeral, in the books that scene was just soo soo good and showed how respected Dumbledore was while also allowing for a nice moment with Harry and Ginny
The scene with Harry and Ginny during the funeral is one of my favourites in the series. It shows how much Ginny actually loves Harry and respects him.
The worst part about the Burrow scene is mostly how they could've just killed Harry or bring in the Dark Lord himself to finish him off. I mean, in the book, the Death Eaters aren't even meant to know where Harry is... If they did, wouldn't they just go there and kill him? I mean, they burn the house and leave... Why?
Totally agree! They wanted a scene to show how destructive and heartless the death eaters are, but they already did that so it was just a bad scene that made no sense
That could’ve been a scene for Rufus Scrimgeour and Percy Weasley instead. It would’ve caused tensions for Harry’s annoyance for Rufus and the Weasley’s tension with Percy.
Harry to Ginny in the Book: “I didn't want anyone to talk to me,” said Harry, who was feeling more and more nettled. “Well, that was a bit stupid of you,” said Ginny angrily, “seeing as you don't know anyone but me who's been possessed by You-Know-Who, and I can tell you how it feels.” Harry to Ginny in the movie: Never mind this scene was cut, like all other harry/ginny scenes in the movie! - shoelace
My favorite little hint at a romance between Harry and Ginny in the book is where it describes what the love potion smells like to Harry. It makes little hints at Ginny!
I knew for sure at the end of Order of the Phoenix, when he wanted Ginny's company on the train ride home and pretty much yearned for her company now he found out how much of an amazing person she was. Though the love potion which revealed he smelt her scent only set that in stone
Personally I didn't like the Harry/Ginny love story in either the book or the movies. But at least in the book you didn't have to witness the painful awkwardness of each encounter!
@@cocokai9661 but it wasn't awkward in the books they were good friends, they talked and acted normal and comfortable around each other. When Harry was having his internal conflict about dating her he was still normal. Their relationship only gets branded as awkward because of the movies
@@damienchristopher5652 I disagree. I think the books were also awkward and unconvincing. It's true the books were better than the movies, but they still weren't good when it came to any of the romances. While we're told that Harry and Ginny interact, we actually see very little of it. Harry spends most of his time with Hermione. The most meaningful interactions are with Hermione. In fact, Harry has more interactions and more meaningful interactions with Luna than he does with Ginny. JKR simply doesn't do romance well. But yes, the movies took the Ginny/Harry thing to a whole new level of awfulness!
@@cocokai9661 yes, he's had more meaningful interactions with Luna (which I don't believe is true) and Hermoine for example, but that doesn't mean anything about the romance (as good or bad as you believe it is). Just because they've shared meaningful experiences doesn't automatically qualify them to date, Ginny can comfort Harry in ways no one can (e.g in Order of the Phoenix, when he's talking to Ginny his anger dies down very fast, whereas it takes Hermoine much longer to calm him down). Most of the meaningful interactions with Hermoine Ron's also there. Luna sees him as just a friend, and it's hinted from book 5 that Harry was having romantic feelings towards Ginny. I still think Ginny was the right call, but I do agree Harry Potter's not an example of good romance, but it's still okay. I'll always think that Harry and Ginny was a good couple
Gotta love when they add a pointless action scene at the burrow but then remove the one actual action sequence from the book during the climax of the story. Also, it’s unforgivable that they had Harry just stand around and watch dumbledore die, because his character would never back down while somebody he loves is in danger. The book handles this so much better by having Harry under the cloak and dumbledoor preventing him from helping by using magic.
In the book version of the Astronomy Tower scene, Harry was immobilized, and under the Invisibility Cloak. Dumbledore had made sure he COULDN'T interfere.
Also, the movies fucking ruined the Snape scene and the sorprise of the final reveal about his character. Having him appear and SEE and reasure Harry was so dumb. It gave away that he wasn't really working with the bad side. My family saw the movie and went "oh, so he is just pretending to be bad right?". So stupid.
@@manuellarodrigues4386 Except he would if Dumbledore asked him to, probably. Not really any way to know, since it's the only instance of its kind in the story. He's brave, not stupid.
I started liking ginny and Harry together in the books when Harry asked, "Fancy trying to find a compartment?" This was when they were on the train going back to Hogwarts at the beginning of the session. Ron and mione were off to their prefect duties. Ginny said that she had to meet Dean and left( her long red hair flowing behind her). That was just so so strong that it gave me goosebumps. Also, the time when Harry smelled Ginny's smell during their potions class when amortentia was shown to them. These little hints made readers interested and also added on so much to their relationship.
Yes! I really liked the thing with Ginny's perfume, that was a very well-executed hint, and true to life, I thought. Our sense of smell is our most primal, and has the most direct connection to our brains.
Sorry, I'm a big fan of romance and I say that with no shame! JKR is horrible at writing romance. One of the worst. While there were a few hints, it's true, we the readers saw virtually no interaction. So the romance and attraction came suddenly and with no real explanation. We see a real relationship between Harry and Hermione and even with Harry and Luna, but we're simply told that there's interaction between Harry and Ginny. Their scenes together are flat and dull. Harry/Hermione, and Harry/Luna have some really deep and moving scenes. So the whole Ginny/Harry thing is just boring and not particularly believable. I think JKR just wanted a way to make Harry a part of the Weasley family and Ginny was a convenient ploy to do so.
@@cocokai9661 Well, that is the thing. She isn't a romantic writer. She doesn't write such stories. But it's a completely different world she had created. So, she defo had to put romance into it. Not everyone can write what she wrote. So, it's not a bad thing. And if you don't like it, then it doesn't necessarily mean that noone else does. Hermione and Harry have an amazing chemistry but many people like their friendship better. It just shows how a male and a female can be so close and yet be just friends and that's just great on jk's behalf. I absolutely love that concept. You can like them all you want. It's your opinion. I just put mine. I absolutely love Harry and ginny together. I kinda knew from the first movie that they were gonna be together. Dk, just had that intuition.
I feel like if they adapted Harry Potter to the screen today it would be better as a series, similar to GOT. There's just so much to fit into one movie with the books.
Season 1 should be both the philosopher's stone and the chamber of secrets though. Both books are quite short and it could take a couple years between each season so it would ensure that the actors don't get tired of their roles and want to quit. 8/9 1 hour episodes each season for 6 seasons would be a good length.
I think an animated series would work best because recasting is not as big of an issue, it’s easier to do magical special effects and the actors/production wouldn’t be compared to the films continually.
Yeah the structure of the books is just better suited to a series, with how each of them covers one school year. I even thought that back when the movies were first coming out.
When I originally watched HP i had never read the books and wondered how and why hermione and ron became a couple instead of harry and hermione because daniel and emma's chemistry was so much better. When i asked my friend who he thought were the better couple between harry and ginny and harry and hermione, he said ginny and harry 100% and i'd wondered why until i read the books. Then I finally understood, cause in the movies ginny is so underused and just not shown to be a good character cause she was just shown to be a bland, awkward character to fill space. Then when they did get together in the movie at the end it felt so off since harry and hermione had much better chemistry the entire series (especially adding the dancing scene in deathly hallow pt 1).
Which I my opinion just made Ron and Hermione an awkward couple (I still dont ship harry and Hermione). Especially that awkward dance scene between harry and Hermione!
@@fancy_rattus yeah I never saw the romance between them in the movies. And Harry/Hermione looked better on screen together, the dance while awkward was something that hinted at a relationship between them that was entirely misleading. Plus as i said in my first message, emma and daniel had great chemistry the entire series
SpiriT -PUBG M She said a lot of things AFTER. I wish she can just shut the fuck up and stop making things up. Anything that is unsaid in the books are left for readers’ own imagination and she’s ruining it for so many
@@greetingsearth387 I know that (half blood prince ) but you need to use pottermore and follow interviews She clearly states in one that Harry and Hermione would've been the better couple
I've never agreed with another's opinion so much. You named every single problem that I had with this film. The Burrow fire scene was so stupid! I hated every second of it. And the cringe. THE CRINGE with the romances. Not one is well done. Such a shame 'cause it's my fave book as well.
Wow, changing 'annoy' to 'mean to me' is definitely huge. It did come off like he was bullied for being different. But not only that, we saw Harry do the same thing in the first movie with his cousin, so it seems pretty human. But just by annoying him? Especially because the word 'annoy' is VERY open to interpretation. And my guess is that the book version was annoyed by a lot of people who were doing nothing wrong. So it goes from "I use magic in defense" to "Stay out of my way", very different tone.
So true, and by the way I visited your channel and you said to leave feedback in that video, but comments are turned off so I think u gotta post a community tab or something as a way of people getting in contact with you, that's just a suggestion :)
15:03 In the books, Fleur actually said something along the lines of, "I am good looking enough for both of us," something that makes me laugh every time I read it, but it also makes me feel happy for them.
I was actually touched by that in the book. In the goblet of fire, I didn't like fleur and I thought she was a brat and everything. But when she married Bill and she said, she'd love him no matter how he looks after he got attacked, I took my thoughts back, because I kinda didn't expect that from her. I think we all got her wrong first.
And why wasn't Fleur in the 6th film? I would have loved to see her deliver a breakfast tray to Harry, along with the reason she loved Bill, her mentioning to Harry about her engagement (this happened seconds after delivering the breakfast) along with Fleur proving that she still loved Bill despite being scarred by Greyback. Let's hope the tv series gets Bill and Fleur's relationship right, unlike in the films which felt too spontaneous.
I feel a lot of the later movies suffered in the relationship department due to them not fully knowing that Hermione wasn’t going to end up with Harry. It always feels that was the direction the movies were pointing to, then they had to backtrack when Rowling decided she’d be with Ron fully. So I think they intentionally made Ginny and Harry super awkward to show how much better Hermione and Harry would be as a couple, despite Harry and Ginny actually making more sense.
If the director read the books carefully, it was clear from book 1 that Harry always thought of himself as the third wheel. From book 3 he had an idea what was happening between the other two , in book 4 he was SURE that Ron was in love , in book 6 he was sure Hermione was in love as well and that Ron was making a mistake. In book 7 Harry was like " Yo , stop making out when everything around is burning "🤣 Until movie 3 we got the right chemistry between Ron and Hermione and then the romance part went downhill because the directors didn't pay much attention .
I doubt this. The last book was released while Order of the Phoenix was in post production, so they knew well in advance of where the characters would end up. I’ve actually read the original shooting script for OTP and it included a very over-the-top scene of Ron saving Hermione in the Ministry. While I’m glad they cut it because it was weird and irritating, it did show that they were attempting to develop Ron and Hermione’s relationship.
@@somethingabstractiguess Yeah, but realize, that script was written by Michael Goldenberg, who was at least attempting to steer the characters back to how they were in the books. Steve Kloves, on the other hand...
He was really good and his acting was well but I don’t think that was the only good thing even though the film is boring sometimes and the romance scenes didn’t work out but I still like this film. The cinematography was amazing probably the best of all Harry Potter films alongside with prisoner of Azkaban and deathly hallows part 2 ,also the soundtrack was very beautiful and relaxing. Michael Gambon’s acting was really good as well. It was his best performance as Dumbeldore.
Yeah, but this also feels like Voldemort's Movie to, although Lord Voldemort only appear as Tom Riddle instead of his real appearance portrayed by Ralph Fiennes.
Ron's, "If you must." look he gave Harry on him kissing Ginny was a real highlight for me and I could never see why they changed something so major in the movie. Personally, it reminded me of letting my future Father-in-Law that I was dating his daughter as she just walked up and kissed me in front of her parents. A similar situation in the book, but the movie just didn't do anything like that.
@@ZielonaPastela The movies did Ron so dirty I hate hate the very end of this movie not only did they cut Dumbledores funeral, but they have Hermione and Harry talking while Ron just sits way in the back and says nothing. Hermione is like Harry he knows about and Ginny and it's fine whatever we will be with you. It's just a Harry and Hermione scene instead of a trio scene Ron isn't even in most of the shots because he so far away uuugghh I'm mad even thinking about it.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Snape seeing Harry and warning him to stay quiet before he kills Dumbeldore. That scene still bothers me because where in the book you still don’t know yet that Snape is protecting Harry, here it clearly gives it away.
One thing I really like that the movie did was Harry and Hermione being open to each other about their feelings for the two youngest Weasley's. It was always implied in the book that Hermione suspected Harry had feelings for Ginny and It was implied that Harry suspected Hermione and Ron's feelings for each other going all the way back to the yule ball. I really appreciated those scenes where they are open with each other.
The lack of voldemort really hurt this film. And what hurt even more was what it was replaced with.. This was also my favorite book. But this was definitely my least favorite movie.
Ginny in the book: Fights in the second wizarding war even though being underaged 😎 Ginny in the movie: Harry..........(long awkward pause)........ sHoeLaCeS!! 😬😵😶
Potter Princess Fred and George were 20, she was 16. Only seventh years were allowed to stay to fight. Because her whole family, the order, and basically everyone she cared about was there, she was allowed to stay but she had to be in the great hall because while everyone else have already become experienced adults, she’s not on that level yet. Like imagine Harry even fighting in the battle of hogwarts when he was 16. It’s quite a much bigger leap. War is about sacrifice, in order to protect the ones you love you have to be willing to put everything in the line. This was also the battle of hogwarts, something that the outcome would change the entire world for better or for worse for a very, very, very, long time.
Another thing you didn’t mention that personally ruined it for me was the color tone. Ik that this was based on one of the darkest books in the series but I seriously think that the color tone was way to dark. It made it look unnatural during every scene that took place in lighter places like the great hall or outside several times. And in the scenes where it was dark like the cave it was simply impossible to see what’s going on. I do believe this movie should’ve had a darker color tone but I don’t think it should’ve been quite as dark and so unnatural.
So true! It looks so murky and like someone sapped all the contrast out of the picture. It’s just like a big grey/brown haze. The picture was still dark in GoF and OoTP but they also had a much sharper contrast. Here it’s just so hazy and ugly looking…
I completely agree. I would love to see someone edit the film with better colouring. The colours are so hideous not to mention it looks like there's a strange fuzzy filter over everything. It's so hard to watch
@Alfie Bell for real he goes "remember the half blood Prince thing that happened 8 months ago in your first lesson of the year? Yeah that's me" expect I'd shrug in that situation, and be more pissed off that bellatrix is screeching probably
They could have just taken it out and named the movie something else. At this point, with how little it is addressed, it has no significance on the plot or Snape's arc within the rest of the movies.
I agree, the buildup to Snape's reveal as the Half Blood Prince is almost non existent in the movie. In the book, Snape orders Harry to show him all of his school books when he catches him using Sectumsempra on Draco. This also sets up how Harry found Ravenclaw's diadem in the Room of Requirement, since he saw it as he went to hide the Half Blood Prince's book (unlike how Ginny hid the book for him and they kissed in the Room of Requirement). Then of course Harry uses Ron's potions book as a decoy, but Snape obviously knows Harry's not telling the truth. Because of that, plus what Harry did go Draco, Snape gives him detention every Saturday for the rest of term, making it so Harry couldn't participate in the Quidditch final.
@Alfie Bell he tells him it like it is a big deal though. And there is build up too. how it was told is fine

I was so sad when they didn’t add “Ron’s nod of approval”. I always thought he approved of Ginny and Harry because he was relieved that Harry didn’t like Hermione that way.
Gotta miss that scene from the book, where Dumbledore politely dissed the Dursleys while offering some mead and giving no f*cks at all. That was truly satisfying.
To add to 12:23, the love potion in potions class is said to smell like some personal preference. In Harry's case, it's some flowery scent he believes to have smelled at the Burrow before. Towards the end of the book it turns out this flowery scent is in fact Ginnys perfume.
“I am not worried, Harry,” said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. “I am with you.” I get goosebumps every time I read this!
Especially when another deleted scene of Harry heading up to Dumbledore in the astronomy tower has Harry say to Ron and Hermione _"I don't need luck, I'll be with Dumbledore"_
For me, the 6th film is kind of meh. Some of the sillyness I can deal with but I still agree with everything you said. Ginny's and Harry's relationship is so unbearably cringy on screen, I always skip their scenes together. For me, Tom Felton was the best thing about the film. His acting was phenomenal and he carried the movie just as much as Daniel Radcliffe did with far less screentime.
Exactly bc the movie failed to put such a beautiful relationship and made it so awkward and cringey . You have to read the books it has been displayed do nicely there by J.K Rowling
@@anushah1687 yeah, the screen writer was a hardcore harry/hermoine shipper, so he butchered ron and ginny's personality and gave all their traits to hermoine
The big problem with Voldemort in the films is that they left out one of the most important aspects of his character; that his father was under a love potion when he was conceived. This and the line change concerning him making bad things happen changed him from victim to just a villain.
They left out almost every interesting aspect about him, including his entire character. His lust for power, fear of death (the main motivation for him to create the horucruxes in the first place), him being a loner and despising friendship as a concept. Voldemort was interesting in the way that he was the dark reflection of Harry in many ways, while the movies boiled that down to "Yeah, he's the bad guy who hates muggles because why not, and he has horuxuses, oh, don't you see how bad he is?". Thanks, Daivid Yates and Steve Kloves, for turning one of the coolest and well written villains ever into a meme.
I realized one thing that's very disappointing in the later movies is they're not wearing Wizarding robes. Unless they need to be in Muggle clothes for the plot, they should be in robes. It would add a lot to the movies if they were wearing robes when they were supposed to, like while they're inside Hogwarts. The movies don't feel as magical anymore because they abandoned the robes.
That, and the lack of color in the spell casting (and complete lack of creativity). The first three (and even #4) had bright colors in the magic, even when the scenes were tonally dark. Everything is so grey in the later movies. Even the candles in the Great Hall don't look like candles because they're so muted. In the last movie, there's a triumphant moment where McGonigal fights Snape and lights the candles back up. But it's so underwhelming because the room only lights up maybe 5%. The clothes, the magic... it's all lifeless.
Davis Parks I think it’s to show a much grimmer nature. At first, it’s all bright because the magical world is something special but over time, everything is revealed to be less glamorous. Besides, I don’t think Harry would do well in deep forests wearing full wizarding attire with long robes.
@@Chan-qk9eh But you can do dark with color. Look at Lord of the Rings. All three of them are dark movies but they're so vibrant and magical. Heck, even the end of Chamber of Secrets is dark and that scene is also really vibrant and magical. The last 4 movies are so grey and aesthetically boring. They strip away what's so special about the book series.
Davis Parks never saw lotr I guess. But dark color can be used smartly. Coming from the point of view of an artist, if you want the light to be noticed, best bet is to start off with a black or grey and then add in your highlights. So the movies could’ve been a darker color but then have moments when it’s a bit lightened to bring focus to this happiness inside the dark.
@@sivad1025 POA had the best use of color imo, while it had a dark and grim look it still managed to retain a sort of vibrancy mainly in how they used contrasting colors, the later movies took the wrong lessons and made it look dark but at the same time made everything look flat and dull. Harry potter lost that "magical" quality once david yates took over, he tried to make everything seem more "realistic" but really he just made it more boring. I wish they got more directors like Cuaron to handle the HP movies. Yates in no way did a terrible job but his movies just ranged from good to ok.
It would be so easy to fix this film I could list all of them Cut down the relationship drama and instead focus on Voldemort's past and backstory Have Dumbledore and Harry walk to hogsmeade to apparate to the cave and then they ride on brooms to the castle Keep the battle of the astronomy tower. Keep Lupin and Tonk's relationship (cut Hermione and McLaughlin's relationship and cut down most of Ron & Lavender's relationship) Remove all the stupid comedy and increase the focus on how dark the world is becoming Have Ginny and Harry kiss after the Quidditch game and Ron nodds to Harry then we see them on the grounds talking about their relationship (done right this could be pretty emotional) Remove the burrow attack so we'll fit more of Voldemort's past in Have Snape question Harry after the sectumsempra scene Have more focus on the mystery of the Half-Blood Prince because when Snape's revealed to be the HBP the reveal has almost no impact because in the book as Harry starts to hate Snape more (finding out he told Voldemort the prohecy) he respects and admires the Prince more which made the reveal so good in the book. But in the film almost nothing happens between Harry and Snape and the Prince's book is barely mentioned in the movie With all that added the film would have eaisly been close to one the best in the franchise
And also cut the scene of harry being in a subway station , and keep dumbledoors interaction with dursleys , if david yates was planning to make a comedy , why didn't he add this too ?
I just recently read the HBP and then thought, "I'll go back and watch the movie now!" To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It changes and leaves so much out while jumping around the story at lightning speed. The house attack was dumb, they could have showed the fun summer they had and I can't believe they left out all the Dumbledore sas when he picks up Harry from the Dursley's. That was a great scene all around. Leaving out the funeral too was a blatant slap.
Honestly, my biggest gripe with the movie is the color. It feels like someone had the black-and-white setting to 50%. It made the movie weirdly dull to look at. Even Fred and George's joke shops colors felt dull, and that's supposed to be on the brightest parts of Diagon Alley at the time. My second biggest gripe was the editing when Harry jumped away from the water when the Inferi grabbed his arm. I swear there was 2 cuts per second, as he's moving back. It looks too unnatural and extremely choppy, and extremely distracting.
My biggest gripe is how the potion Dumbledore drinks doesn't sufficiently weaken him the way book portrayed it did... he seems almost normal when coming out of the cave and in the Astronomy tower. He's supposed to be severely weakened, and uses the last of his strength to burn the Inferi and scoop up the locket.
The opening scene of this film literally shows the Death Eaters destroying the Millennium Bridge (a bridge built in 2000 - the MILLENNIUM) in 1996. They could have picked... any... other... bridge?
Ginny was just done dirty in the movies. She had no personality, they never showed her n harrys relationship and she was barely on screen. They focused to much on Harry becoming a wizard rather than balancing his personal life and wizardry
I really think it was the direction that took away from Ginny’s character way more than the acting. They just flat out did not give Bonnie enough good material to work with, and she was never given the chance to make Ginny’s character live up to the books. I really think the actress could’ve rocked it if given the chance.
It’s so sad because I think the half blood prince is maybe the best book . The whole background story of Voldemort was so good and interesting ! Sad that this whole stuff isn’t in the movie .
The problem is that "the Half-blood Prince" is the best book and the most important of the series, hands down. It shows Voldemort's past and explains the hocruxes. So, with that in mind, the sixth movie is the worst because it left out so many important and interesting details and added unnecessary stuff.
It was always my least favorite, mainly because the schooling aspect is almost none existent. The story has moved on to the upcoming Voldemort, Harry battle. It feels like they have already outgrown the school, and we are missing the much more interesting war outside the school. I do love the learning about Voldemort past, and think editing most of that out of the movie was the greatest sin of the movie/series. Jk has no romantic writing ability, and I don’t know why anyone thought it would make a good focus for the movie. But if they were going to go that route, why didn’t they make sure Harry and Ginny had some decent scenes, and chemistry?
@@TheElaska17 in the minority, probably. Not weird. Your allowed your opinion, and you can like what you want. It’s definitely not my favorite, but I can recognize some good things accomplished. I thought the actor for Dumbledore did his best work in this movie, it was the first time I actually saw Dumbledore in the whole series. I straight up don’t like the portrayal of Dumbledore from the first actor, just too frail. And it took the second Dumbledore until the second half the 6th movie to get it right.
Yeah, I don't think he was actually living there. That's a weird take in the video. I've always just assumed he was being "reckless" because he's most protected when staying at the Dursleys, and Harry couldn't handle just sitting around.
Going through Voldemort's past and seeing where he got all his Horcruxes from was some really interesting shit. The relationships stuff was on the back burner because ultimately it didn't matter. Ron never ends up with Lavender so why dedicate half a movie to it. The Troll stuff had me in hysterics I had no idea that was a thing.
In the books, the Ron and Lavender story is important because it makes Ron and Hermione realize they want to be together. And it makes Ron relatable because we've all made awkward attempts at relationships as teenagers... Also, the unsuccessful romances were shown IMO to point out that war influences even young people with their usual teenage problems and the fact that they all come together in the end and fight in the Battle of Hogwarts, because fighting Evil is more important than past romances and relationship problems. "So young... to be fighting so many." But I agree, focusing on them in the HBP movie at the expense of other plotlines was totally ridiculous!
I do remember a friend told me that Ginny in the book turned into a beautiful girl that literally everyone in hogwarts was slobbering over and that she was this cool and confident girl which only make her more desiderable, essentially she became one if not the most attractive and sought after girl in the franchise after the half blood prince, but in movies that's really hard to do when you're competing with Emma Watson, another reason at least to me that if JK really reboots the film franchise, she should do it in animation.
@@MaiNguyen-rn7zxthat is something that cannot be answered because in real life beauty is a very subjective thing, and Emma shot to fame over her constant screen time, for example, me personally never understood the public fascination with Emma Watson, she was attractive sure but not the bombshell a lot of my friends said it was at the time, to begin with, Hermione in the books was never considered attractive, that's why nobody ever simp for her the way Ginny was in the books, that's why everyone was impressed with her appearance in the goblet of fire's book version of the yule ball, and that's why it took to long for Ron to realize his feelings for her, she was essentially the ugly duckling of HP, this all boils down to the fact that this is one of the disadvantages of live-action, you can only go so far trying to cast the perfect fit for a fictional character, animation doesn't have that problem you can follow the character design to the letter by the book description, hence why I think that if they ever reboot the films, animation would be a better choice.
If David Yates just stuck with the main storyline, left clues about who the identity Half-Blood Prince is, and ignore the romance parts, then maybe we would perhaps get a good Harry Potter movie.
That one word change thoo.. Mean to annoy.. Such a great difference.. I always thought the other boys bullied tom riddle because he was different.. Instead now turns out that he was the one who was willing to do anything to anyone if they interfered in any way in his way of life
I am not even allowed to go out to find a job. My mother doesn't even want me to step outside to find a job. I have to remain in the house 24/7 until further noticed.
I mean, yes, the writers are definitely to blame; they really did not build up the relationship in any way and in the movies it just comes out of nowhere and it's not explored at all Ginny is also underdeveloped as a character in the movies and that is the fault of the writes BUT also Bonnie and Dan really have no chemistry, absolutely none whatsoever It still could've worked somehow even with the little that they were given if they had some decent chemistry but they really done have any Their scenes were pretty awkward to watch; I'm not saying Bonnie is necessarily a bad actress but good acting and chemistry were definitely abscent and I can't help but think that maybe they should've replaced her with another actress that was more compatible and had more chemistry with Radcliffe to make it feel at least a bit more natural Harry and Cho felt very natural in the movies and the actors had some great chemistry together, you could feel some romantic tension and the relationship was pretty believable and it's not like they had more scenes together than Dan and Bonnie I guess you could say that their scenes were better written sure, but they were also better acted and there was more natural chemistry between the actors
@brysontipton1893 ya, it's normal, but book ginny, in HBP, isn't like that. That's her character development. She became confident and started to out of her shell. That awkward phase was before she started dating other people
It really annoyed me that they left out all the Voldemort memories and ESPECIALLY how they treated the half blood princes book! Harry literally admired that book, even after performing sectumsempta on Malfoy, in the movie, they made it seem like it was something dangerous to be hidden away to stop Harry going down a dark path, but Harry justified the prince in the novel, not the spell, but he was showing signs of being a huge fan of the half blood prince, they really missed the mark of how much Harry and Ron too admired the half-blood prince, unbeknownst to them both it would end up being the person they hated most. Plus, to cut out the funniest part of the whole series even when trying to make it a comedy, AND would have incorporated Harry’s love for the half-blood prince’s book (and the real reason why he hid it in the room of requirement) is a full on crime. ROONIL WAZLIB was a lost opportunity. The relationship stuff was awful, especially Harry and Ginny lacking that chemistry as much as they did, and Yates butchering ginny’s confident character. The astronomy tower battle, and as I mentioned earlier, Voldemort’s memories which made half-blood prince my favourite book of the series. So much detail given to us of Voldemort’s past. Snape was my favourite character, didn’t have enough of him in this movie when it was all about him showing his “true” side. Also neglecting to mention how it was Snape who told Voldemort about the prophecy, to say nothing of how little they talked about the horcruxes, as dumbledore already guessed what a lot of them were but maybe the ignorance of the objects made it better for deathly hallows part 1.
Yeah their relationship in the movie was not executed well at all. Its not the actors fault they tried their best but they didnt do their characters justice in the movie from the books
I just couldn’t get past the random death eater attack at the burrow. Not only is it very out of character for Harry to be so unprotected (the Dursley blood protection Dumbledore insisted on, for instance), but there’s no way in hell Voldemort wouldn’t go there himself to kill him if he had access…instead of sending Bellatrix and Fenrir to randomly harass them.
Same but it was my fav cuz of snape scenes and draco's and the death eaters it made it better and snapes line when he says how dare u using my own spell against me IM THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE this was fucking powerful I just realised now from the video all this drama things happened in this movie o forgot cuz I couldn't stop thinking of snape and all this shit THEY LITERALLY RUINED THE MOVIE WITH TYE RELATIONSHIPS OMG IT WAS SO CRINGYYYYY!! it's my fav movie but also one of the worst lol!!!
@@Chris-lq5xw yea same with me. The best parts were Draco, the beggining, and the climax with them trying it get the horcrux and the battle of the astronomy tower was amazing. I couldn't handle everything else
It didn't occur to you that those scenes might not have been filmed due to the possibility that there might one day be a set of films which focus on Voldemort's past.
@@79bewareofpuppies97 They didn't occur because the director didn't feel they were important. They might not have been super important for the film (except for the Horcrux memories), but many people (including me) would have still loved to see them!
i feel like the fact that the movie is missing the battle of the astronomy tower isn’t talked about enough! it’s such an important scene, especially as it leads onto the scene in the hospital wing after Bill is attacked which is where we see that Fleur really does love Bill, and how her speech is what led Tonks to explaining why she loved Remus and she didn’t care about any hindrances between them. not to mention that Bill and Fleur’s relationship was so underused in the movie, as they were already engaged at the start of the book, where Molly and Ginny hated Fleur, which makes the hospital scene even more important, as it’s when Fleur proves that she’s not just with Bill for his looks, which is what triggers Molly to finally accept her into the family. such important scenes were completely wasted, and replaced with useless add-ins and it makes me furious
Having not read the books (I simply don't have the patience or imagination...I know, I'm very lame) and hearing that was a scene cut from the film, that is very aggravating. I wonder what goes through creator's minds when adapting a book to film.
From my understanding, that whole thing was omitted because they wanted to save all the fights and battles for The Battle of Hogwarts that was gonna happen in the last film
Your review of the movie was brilliant! You put so much effort into this video. Thanks. It made so much sense for me now as a person who never got to read the books, I was so confused when I watched the Half-blood prince film.
Hinny is literally such a beautiful ship. I don’t blame Daniel and Bonnie for the way it was handled so terribly in the film. I blame the writer and directed.
In the movies they didn’t build Harry and ginnys relationship properly because apparently the writers and directors shipped Harry and hermione more before they found out the final pairings
dormiens how so? She liked him when she saw him when she was 10. She began knowing him as her brothers’ friend and then as a romantic interest. Their first kiss happened after 6 years of knowing each other, if that’s not slow and steady idk what is.
This was actually the movie I was most looking forward to in 2009. The dark, gloomy look and the trailer got me hyped. I thought it'd be action packed so I'll give that to the guys who made the trailer. The movie is fine but now that I know how much stuff was left out from the book I can understand why fans are annoyed with it.
My favorite thing about these movies is how much I still enjoy them regardless of how wrong certain things are. They sure did miss the mark on so much, but man when they hit the mark…they hit.
To be honest they did Ginny dirty in the whole series. After the 2nd movie, she’s basically relegated to being nothing more than a cameo in movies 3,4&5 and then suddenly in 6 Harry’s supposed to like her? Just out of the blue. Not to mention their scenes were cringy in the film and lacked development. The reason Ron and Hermione works is we see their relationship develop over 7 books and 8 films. Harry and Ginny had less interaction in the films than Ron and Dumbeldore. They needed to have at least made ginny have some conversations with him at least in the 5th movie.
OMG this is absolutely PERFECT. Amazing job man. You hit on everything I've ever thought about this film and a few I had never thought about. Brilliant.

The only importance it has in the film is that it helps Harry win Felix Felicis from Slughorn and it teaches him a spell that almost kills Malfoy.

Yo hahaha 😂
He had more chemistry with his left sock than he had with Ginny in HBP (the movie) thanks to crappy writing

It's best to ship couples that actually happen rather than ones that are totally false and never happened in any canon.
@@brysontipton1893 sure, but it doesn't really matter, does it?

The biggest mistake is the film doesn’t have Dumbledore freeze Harry in the astronomy tower. It was way out of Harry’s character to stay below and not intervene. Dumbledore knew this and that’s exactly why he froze him in the book. Huge flaw in the film IMO.
I felt that it made it more personal having Harry trust Dumbledore completely, and Harry did intervene afterwards.

Exactly! Harry was basically just standing there doing nothing while the man he respected the most was fighting an army of Death Eaters. So unlike his character. Compare that to the Order of the Phoenix where he joins Sirius even when Sirius asks him to stay away.

@@crappymcdick but that's not how the book was written.....
Also why did the pictures not move?
The pictures did move.. that's why it was careless. The waitress even comments on it.

They enter Hogwarts through the vanishing cabinet and so were inside before anyone could do anything about it.
That entire sequence is just breathtaking and so painful in the book. I don't think I'll ever not cry while reading it 😭
I agree. You never really saw those moments of Snape's elemental rage in the movies and those to me are an important part of his character.
Exactly! Shit made me cry when I was 15 back in 2016 and read it for the first time. I was excited to see this movie too but when I saw the lack of the Gaunts and insane levels of romance I was like…huh?
Half blood prince also didn’t have enough of Harry’s sass. I mean they left out “there’s no need to call me sir professor”!

Mreffs101
I’ve never read the books (I know I’m a disgrace).
@@Dinodawson42 the books are totally worth it, trust me.

Exactly
Are you sure that’s true? Seems a bit unbelievable that they wouldn’t know where the Weasley‘s house is. I always thought the ministry had put some spells on the house and that made it impossible to attack until the ministry fell.
I don't even understand why it was in the movie
Don’t forget the grindylow… it was supposed to be in 3 but wasn’t.
The Humans should've gone to war against the wizard kind, that would've shown that Voldemort and Salazar were right all along, for not wanting non-wizard's in the magic world
When tonks called Remus “Sweetheart” my mum was so confused she was like oh are they together when did that happen (she hasn’t read the books)

Harry Potterhead ya I guess but I do really like the movies tho

Haha.
Same. She isnt my favourite, but I cant blame Lupin wanting better for her. I ship them, but it's like she deserves heaven

I hope if they ever reboot the series they do this justice, but then again I don't think they should reboot it any time soon , it was a huge franchise and I'd have a hard time replacing the original actors in my mind.
i agreeeeeeee
You just had an argument with yourself
I'm still fuming they didn't include Dumbledore's funeral, in the books that scene was just soo soo good and showed how respected Dumbledore was while also allowing for a nice moment with Harry and Ginny
Not having a phoenix song was an absolute crime, could have been a standout to the score.
Did you miss how respected Dumbledore was in the movie? I thought that was loud and clear
Because its edgy 😂

I still think it works well in the adaptation

I started liking ginny and Harry together in the books when Harry asked, "Fancy trying to find a compartment?" This was when they were on the train going back to Hogwarts at the beginning of the session. Ron and mione were off to their prefect duties. Ginny said that she had to meet Dean and left( her long red hair flowing behind her). That was just so so strong that it gave me goosebumps. Also, the time when Harry smelled Ginny's smell during their potions class when amortentia was shown to them. These little hints made readers interested and also added on so much to their relationship.
Hahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahah
Fellow potterhead and army!
I feel like if they adapted Harry Potter to the screen today it would be better as a series, similar to GOT. There's just so much to fit into one movie with the books.
I'm hoping to see a tv adaptation at some point in my lifetime
Season 1 should be both the philosopher's stone and the chamber of secrets though. Both books are quite short and it could take a couple years between each season so it would ensure that the actors don't get tired of their roles and want to quit. 8/9 1 hour episodes each season for 6 seasons would be a good length.
I think an animated series would work best because recasting is not as big of an issue, it’s easier to do magical special effects and the actors/production wouldn’t be compared to the films continually.
@@stephaniem6482 there won’t be. Agree with original commenter. I personally would have liked 4, 5, and 6 and not just 7 to be two movies each.

Then when they did get together in the movie at the end it felt so off since harry and hermione had much better chemistry the entire series (especially adding the dancing scene in deathly hallow pt 1).

15:03 In the books, Fleur actually said something along the lines of, "I am good looking enough for both of us," something that makes me laugh every time I read it, but it also makes me feel happy for them.
She also says that this is the proof her husband is brave which is so cute
I was actually touched by that in the book. In the goblet of fire, I didn't like fleur and I thought she was a brat and everything. But when she married Bill and she said, she'd love him no matter how he looks after he got attacked, I took my thoughts back, because I kinda didn't expect that from her. I think we all got her wrong first.
This line is weird but at the same time cool
In book 7 Harry was like " Yo , stop making out when everything around is burning "🤣
Until movie 3 we got the right chemistry between Ron and Hermione and then the romance part went downhill because the directors didn't pay much attention
.

Potter Princess Ginny is one year younger than Ron and the youngest sibling
Potter Princess now that you have pointed this out...I kinda feel the same 😬
@@purpleunicorn2459 And Ginny would probably be super jealous of you having big sisters :D
The picture was still dark in GoF and OoTP
but they also had a much sharper contrast. Here it’s just so hazy and ugly looking…
I completely agree. I would love to see someone edit the film with better colouring. The colours are so hideous not to mention it looks like there's a strange fuzzy filter over everything. It's so hard to watch
The original cut was way too dark and the studio asked them to turn it up because it was difficult to see and they still came out with this
I’ve always realised how this particular movie looks so saturated and orange sometimes. It look too unnatural and odd, even for a magical environment.
it didn't even set the mood it was going for, it just looked drab and lifeless
I was disappointed the most, that they cut the whole half blood prince story. I loved all of it in the book
They missed the mark on Snape's rage as well. When Harry calls him a coward and Snape loses his patience.
“I am with you.”
I get goosebumps every time I read this!
Would u be worried if u were with Harry?
Nah, he is quite smart and brave😁
I trust Dumbledore!
Especially when another deleted scene of Harry heading up to Dumbledore in the astronomy tower has Harry say to Ron and Hermione _"I don't need luck, I'll be with Dumbledore"_

@@hams2410 well I DONT
For me, the 6th film is kind of meh. Some of the sillyness I can deal with but I still agree with everything you said. Ginny's and Harry's relationship is so unbearably cringy on screen, I always skip their scenes together. For me, Tom Felton was the best thing about the film. His acting was phenomenal and he carried the movie just as much as Daniel Radcliffe did with far less screentime.
as a person who cringes in the slightest things possible in some fandoms i dont bother watching this movie
The ending could’ve made up for all of the bullshit. An all out battle after dumbledores murder would have been chilling to watch.

MovieFlame: What went wrong with the Half-Blood Prince.
Snape: Excuse me?
Ten points from Gryffindor!!
Davis Parks never saw lotr
I guess.
They murdered Ginny, and her relationship with Harry too. She was one of my favourite book characters.
She was my last favourite character in the books.
To much of a Mary Sue and very annoying in Half blood Prince.
@@konanxhidan3202 Totally agree! Ginny is the most Mary Sue character I've seen!
Jean Costa that’s true she is perfect she should have at least one flaw
I see your point. Can't say it annoyed me in the books but I do agree she could've been less perfect.
Konan x Hidan the actor was worse in my opinion
It would be so easy to fix this film I could list all of them
Cut down the relationship drama and instead focus on Voldemort's past and backstory
Have Dumbledore and Harry walk to hogsmeade to apparate to the cave and then they ride on brooms to the castle
Keep the battle of the astronomy tower. Keep Lupin and Tonk's relationship (cut Hermione and McLaughlin's relationship and cut down most of Ron & Lavender's relationship)
Remove all the stupid comedy and increase the focus on how dark the world is becoming
Have Ginny and Harry kiss after the Quidditch game and Ron nodds to Harry then we see them on the grounds talking about their relationship (done right this could be pretty emotional)
Remove the burrow attack so we'll fit more of Voldemort's past in
Have Snape question Harry after the sectumsempra scene
Have more focus on the mystery of the Half-Blood Prince because when Snape's revealed to be the HBP the reveal has almost no impact because in the book as Harry starts to hate Snape more (finding out he told Voldemort the prohecy) he respects and admires the Prince more which made the reveal so good in the book. But in the film almost nothing happens between Harry and Snape and the Prince's book is barely mentioned in the movie
With all that added the film would have eaisly been close to one the best in the franchise
And also cut the scene of harry being in a subway station , and keep dumbledoors interaction with dursleys , if david yates was planning to make a comedy , why didn't he add this too ?
Exactly
@@RayeedTLG **nods my head furiously in agreement**
I just recently read the HBP and then thought, "I'll go back and watch the movie now!" To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It changes and leaves so much out while jumping around the story at lightning speed. The house attack was dumb, they could have showed the fun summer they had and I can't believe they left out all the Dumbledore sas when he picks up Harry from the Dursley's. That was a great scene all around. Leaving out the funeral too was a blatant slap.
Ok but the “she’s really tying his shoelace HoW RoMaNtIc” Just made me have an actual Chris Evans worthy belly laugh
hahaha ecks dee so funni

Speaking of Chris Evans. The shoelace scene is as terrible as Cap kissing Sharon after his girlfriend funeral scene.
Same
My biggest gripe is how the potion Dumbledore drinks doesn't sufficiently weaken him the way book portrayed it did... he seems almost normal when coming out of the cave and in the Astronomy tower. He's supposed to be severely weakened, and uses the last of his strength to burn the Inferi and scoop up the locket.
All David Yates movies look like this. It's to make it dark and gritty
Talking about filter, I hated the colours in prisoners of azkaban
Oh wow I thought the color and the tone of the movie is what made it good and kinda unique. But I can understand your view.
The opening scene of this film literally shows the Death Eaters destroying the Millennium Bridge (a bridge built in 2000 - the MILLENNIUM) in 1996. They could have picked... any... other... bridge?
🤣🤣🤣
i quite like that they chose this bridge, as it shows how ruthless the death eaters were
Only the first 2/3 really seem to be set in 1990s, from 4 on they are just in the year they were filmed
Even though it takes place in 1997 I think they choose the Millennium Bridge because of how the real world was changing.
Hey, genius...the movies aren't set in the 90s like the books are. Just look at the fashion and the music that is used in the movies
I was so disappointed that we never got to see Voldemort's grandfather, uncle mother or father.
I wish they would have shown Dumbledore's funeral, harry and Ginny breaking up and when talking about Snape's parents.
Ginny was just done dirty in the movies. She had no personality, they never showed her n harrys relationship and she was barely on screen. They focused to much on Harry becoming a wizard rather than balancing his personal life and wizardry
Let's not forget that snape was finally Defense against the dark arts teacher and did NO teaching at all.
EXACTLYYYY

I mean the movies don't mention why he stayed at the Dursleys but I mean really he could have stayed at the burrow, I mean a SUBBWAY STATION???
Yeah, I don't think he was actually living there. That's a weird take in the video. I've always just assumed he was being "reckless" because he's most protected when staying at the Dursleys, and Harry couldn't handle just sitting around.
@@LoveStallion Movies are movies though it was mentioned in the movies
Why would he choose to stay at the subway? To keep the dursleys safe?
@Robert Shajari No he said he spent the whole summer their
Going through Voldemort's past and seeing where he got all his Horcruxes from was some really interesting shit.
"So young... to be fighting so many."
But I agree, focusing on them in the HBP movie at the expense of other plotlines was totally ridiculous!
Daniel Cooper there is a running gag in the book about a moving painting of trolls being taught ballet by a wizard.
It’s like they were trying to make it as bad as they could without it being obvious
Would it be better if Bonnie played Hermione and Emma for Ginny instead?
@@omarreyes7626 Yeah, I never quite got the infatuation/attraction towards Emma. In all honesty, I find her to be quite average.

It's definitely the fault of the writer rather than Bonnie , because if we see in OoP , Bonnie portraits Ginny perfectly.
I mean, yes, the writers are definitely to blame; they really did not build up the relationship in any way and in the movies it just comes out of nowhere and it's not explored at all
Ginny is also underdeveloped as a character in the movies and that is the fault of the writes
BUT also Bonnie and Dan really have no chemistry, absolutely none whatsoever
It still could've worked somehow even with the little that they were given if they had some decent chemistry but they really done have any
Their scenes were pretty awkward to watch; I'm not saying Bonnie is necessarily a bad actress but good acting and chemistry were definitely abscent and I can't help but think that maybe they should've replaced her with another actress that was more compatible and had more chemistry with Radcliffe to make it feel at least a bit more natural
Harry and Cho felt very natural in the movies and the actors had some great chemistry together, you could feel some romantic tension and the relationship was pretty believable and it's not like they had more scenes together than Dan and Bonnie
I guess you could say that their scenes were better written sure, but they were also better acted and there was more natural chemistry between the actors

The scene with Ginny feeding Harry at 9:10...

Harry looks like he wants to say no but he doesn't want to hurt this awkward girl's feelings.

Short answer: the color tone.

Ginny and Harry in the films make me so uncomfortable.
ik i litterallly cry abou how horrible they are in the movies
To be honest they did Ginny dirty in the whole series. After the 2nd movie, she’s basically relegated to being nothing more than a cameo in movies 3,4&5 and then suddenly in 6 Harry’s supposed to like her? Just out of the blue. Not to mention their scenes were cringy in the film and lacked development. The reason Ron and Hermione works is we see their relationship develop over 7 books and 8 films. Harry and Ginny had less interaction in the films than Ron and Dumbeldore. They needed to have at least made ginny have some conversations with him at least in the 5th movie.
They ruined them in the films, they were so much better in the books
Well, she did give him fierce looks in the last one.
Harry: Will you marry me?
Ginny: Shoelace!
Hermione and Harry had more chemistry than Harry and Ginny in the movies.
ARE YOU SHIPPING HARRY X HERMIONE?
Nope. I ship Harry and Ginny and Ron and Hermione. But they did Hinny so wrong in the movies.
