DIY Removal of Deck Boards | Is this the best process?

Removing Deck Boards - Deck Repairs. The average DIY homeowner most likely does not have professional deck removal tools, so you just have to use what you have laying around, especially if its not a huge in-depth project.
I'm only removing about 7 deck boards so re-install some of the support joists under neath. The 2x6 boards have softened over time and the deck surface started to slope. If one is not planning on re-using these boards, it will be easier to cut them of with a variety of saws, however, I am trying to salvage what I can, because most of them are in good shape.

Dave, I get what you’re saying about the deck removal tool, but you’re right, the average homeowner like myself won’t want to spend the extra money just to remove a few boards. Thanks for the tip.

You can use a 2x4, stick the tip of one end under the deck board at an angle so it is also above a joist. You just created a lever. Pops them right up.
Also you probably don't need to replace those joists they just need joist hangers with hanger nails.
