  • Join me as I take several ferries around the islands of Hong Kong, primarily Peng Chau but also to Mui Wo on Lantau and Sok Kwu Wan and Mo Tat Wan on Lamma.
Peng Chau is a small island located off the north-eastern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It is known locally for its temples, fishing industry and seafood.
Peng Chau has an area of 0.99 km2 (0.38 sq mi) and a perimeter of about 5 km (3.1 mi). The tallest point of the island is Finger Hill (手指山), which is 95 m (312 ft) in height.
Politically, Peng Chau is part of Peng Chau & Hei Ling Chau constituency of the Islands District Council.
The executive branch of the government of the island included department of the Islands District Office of the Home Affairs Department.
There are several temples on Peng Chau, including:
Tin Hau temple (天后廟), built in 1792
Golden Flower Shrine, dedicated to Lady Kam Fa (金花娘娘)
    Lung Mo Temple (龍母廟)
    Seven Sisters Temple (仙姐廟)
The island is also the site of the, now defunct, Peng Chau Theatre (坪洲戲院).
The main mode of transportation on the island is the bicycle, or on foot. Motor vehicles are not permitted on the island except emergency services, construction and village vehicles used for the transport of goods around the island.
Peng Chau is accessible by ferry (Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry) from Central on Hong Kong Island, or by ferry from Cheung Chau via Mui Wo and Chi Ma Wan (Sun Ferry), or by Kai-to ferry from Discovery Bay on Lantau Island.
Helicopters are sometimes used in medical emergencies.
Lantau Island (also Lantao Island, Lan Tao) is the largest island in Hong Kong, located West of Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, and is part of the New Territories. Administratively, most of Lantau Island is part of the Islands District of Hong Kong. A small northeastern portion of the island is located in the Tsuen Wan District.
Originally an island with fishing villages, it has been developed since the late 20th century with the construction of Tung Chung New Town on its north-western coast and the completion of several major infrastructure projects, including Lantau Link (1997), Hong Kong International Airport (1998), Hong Kong Disneyland (2005), and Ngong Ping 360 (2006).
Mui Wo is a rural town on the eastern coast of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The 2011 Census recorded 5,485 people living in Mui Wo and its environs.
Mui Wo (English: Mui Wo), formerly known as Mei Wo or Mei Wei (Cantonese: Wo and Wei are homophones), is located in the eastern part of Lantau Island in the New Territories of Hong Kong. Mui Wo has a beautiful environment and is a good place for vacationing in Hong Kong .
As early as the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty, farmers were already living in Mui Wo Valley. By the 19th century, it had developed into six villages .Mui Wo is located on Silvermine Bay, so named for the silver mines that were once worked along the Silver River (銀河) which flows through the village. The main beach in Mui Wo is known as Silver Mine Bay Beach (銀鑛灣泳灘). The town is known for the feral water buffalos and cows that roam the area.
Prior to the Airport Core Programme and the subsequent development of Tung Chung and North Lantau into a new town, Mui Wo was the principal point for day-trippers setting out to explore Lantau Island. Today, it is still the principal way of reaching South Lantau - from the beaches in Cheung Sha to the fishing village of Tai O and the Tian Tan Buddha. With the opening of Ngong Ping 360 and the new, smoother Tung Chung Road, this may change.
Lamma provides an alternative to the hectic life in the city. Property and rents are cheap compared with those of central Hong Kong. These factors have attracted a significant expatriate community to Lamma Island. It is also popular with younger people and a haven for artists and musicians.
There are regular ferry services to Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan from Central on Hong Kong Island, as well as to Yung Shue Wan via Pak Kok, and to Sok Kwu Wan via Mo Tat Wan, from Aberdeen. It takes about 25 minutes by ferry between Yung Shue Wan and Central. There are no cars on Lamma Island.

Late to the party but a good video nonetheless, although a bit hectic. If this is done in one day then you’re truly crazy. For as long as I have been in HK, I’ve never been to Peng Chau. Should stay on Lamma a little longer to have a seafood meal. The restaurant even has a complimentary boat ride for you to go back to Central or TST.

Seems to me HongKong have seen its old better days. Now under China, seems the old jewel has past its prime.
