I got gc twice with the merc. it's an amazing car. you mentioned the 50s, which is the car's power. but there's a thing you didn't mention. the height. its the highest car allowing for amazing first touches that are impossible to do with any hitbox in the game.
BattleBus!
Good point!
Doctor... We have another case of a crazy Merc player (joking)
i couldve sworn the merc had the octane hitbox
@@ethanfinch6899 it had but then they changed it. Now it's a slightly taller octane
4:54 as a Breakout main myself, I can back that "driving under the ball" is way easier to do due to the height - so getting bounce touches will take a tad more precision. Other than that, I've always enjoyed it simply because the it matches its hitbox better than anything else, as you've already found out
I love the komodo, it's like a breakout stingray 🔥🔥
It doesn't really match the hitbox. The back matches it but the front is lying. The car is taller than what the front display
@@liron8163 true, it’s slightly off on the length as well (if u nose plant the model merges with the ground a decent amount). From what I’ve experimented with tho, I’ve found the breakout to match the best out of all the hit boxes and car models else (besides from the Fennec but it’s too stubby for my playstyle)
@@fknGandalf I right their with u, the Komodo is such an underrated car, although the corners are too curved for me to want to use it outside of freeplay. Ngl, I pray for the day they give a breakout hitbox remodel that perfectly matches 🙏
@@ViberzRL Facts. Honestly I've been back on the komodo for a week now and my power shots are ridiculous and accurate. Feels like a cheat code. Long live the mini dominus!
I’d be interested in seeing a more in-depth look about how the car model vs the hit box affects gameplay. They classic examples of which are the octane/fennec/scarab contrasts.
I couldn't agreee more.
Same. Why some cars in the same hitbox seem to drive differently. I was messing around with some different octane hitbox cars and so many just seem to turn and respond so slow.
I really like using the Skyline, since I love the car irl. The length is nice, and the balance of height really evens it out.
For anyone wanting to try out the Hybrid Hitbox: Since there are not too much cars for this hitbox is hard to find an accurate visual representation of it. The best Two I could find were
1. Insidio: far more accurate than any other Hybrid Car.
2. Tygris: This one is also accurate enough but you will have to use a Topper to fill the upper part of the car (since it is visually too low for the hitbox). I believe this is one of the few cars that improve when using a topper.
3. Venom: Of course, the Hybrid hitbox was made for the Venom, however, there is a small gap in the front of the car that will make you hit the ball before you want to.
Thanks :D
Octane/ Fennec is just too good. Chipping the ball in the air with power is so easy and that alone gives it a huge advantage.
With the merc 50/50's aren't 50/50's anymore.. they are a 100/0's :)
Hahaha
What I find with the breakout is that you can get some nasty angles with it, that's why I main it, no matter where I'm at I can almost seemingly always score the ball or at least make a good shot on goal.
True
Its not about the hitbox, its about the axis point for flicks, flips and aerial control.
I like switching from dominus/breakout hitboxes. It helps me to get a reset after a hard loss without feeling too far from what I"m used to
I personally like using the octane as well! It just feels like I can control the ball more on the ground and in the air. I also use dominus for freestyleing cause it’s very good at flicks and pinches. Much love thanovic
When I started, I didn't know that basically 80% play Octane. I tried out many cars and the Dominus just felt the best. Occasionally I will play with the Dingo or Fennec, but an Octane never felt comfortable to me.
Switching to hybrid made learning dribbling and flicking easier at first which was great now I switch between octane hitbox and hybrid I like them both!
Maybe I should try that I first start the game with the remix hybrid car I love that car then I started useing octane more
@These Tired Eyes I recommend to give it a try the longer hitbox makes just a little more room for error
exactly what i did i switched to the jager to learn dribbling, bounce dribbling and flicks and now im back with my octane main and im even better on the ground and all other aspect of the game i just know the octane better. But still i dont think i could have learnt dribbling as fast with my octane
@Don Alberto love the Jager I'm a big Porsche fan so that's my hybrid car of choice but yeah I saw an immediate improvement learning with the Jager now I can dribble decently with both hitboxs
the new redline body has breakout hitbox and i have really been liking it. it's visually longer than the hitbox on both ends and feels great
I have been endlessly looking for a video like this thank you love the content
As someone fairly 'new' I only really started noticing what a massive difference this makes when I really started dribbling and doing wall to air dribble setups and such. Some things seem fairly minor but they actually make a big impact. Everyone uses Octane because it's simply very well balanced and allround. But even small things (like Dominus being able to turn faster in most situations, or the minivanhittuboxu having a really damn fat square nose) can make a big difference if you're practising the same scenarios in freeplay training or 1v1s for instance.
With the dominus being long, I feel like I touch the ball sooner than other cars traveling the same speed
Wow i didnt know how good the hybrid hitbox was. Nice video!
Definitely give the Insidio car a try. Not the prettiest one, but the hybrid hitbox fit is amazing.
@@bstnlcge2662 Will do. Thanks for telling me!
hybrid is like octane but a little bit more power on flick really great if you're mainly playing on the ground with good dribbling or want to learn it
The plank is definitely better for playing Snow Day, with the low profile it's great for 50/50s as well as the flicks (like you mentioned) for scoring or lobbing over the opposition
For someone reason my plank was deleted from my inv and can't use it
Loved your freestyle tournament video
FIre vid. Thanks for the info about the hitboxes
I'd love to see a UA-camr or pro commit to 250 or 500 hours in another hitbox. Heck, 200 hours through each hitbox for 1000 total would be amazing. I feel like the hitboxes aren't properly understood from 10 hours of clipping when you have 5k+ in an Octane you're just comparing to.
Thats what I'm saying
That is a cool idea but that would take a very long time especially when they already have a favorite car so unless they were willing to play rocket league for over a month in game it would probably not happen if you want someone to do that you’d probably have to do it yourself
Not to mention the fact that it would make the pro or UA-camr not used to their own anymore so it for sure wouldn’t be a pro and still probably wouldn’t be a UA-camr but 25-50 hours with each hitbox could work I guess
The only way it could be 1000 in total is if the time still runs even when not playing rocket league other wise they will have to play rocket league for 41 days
@@88TigerGamin They don't have to adjust to how to rotate, just a few nuances. I would bet they adjust to the hitbox within a few days. But no one commits to it for too long, and certainly not long enough to truly work out any kinks with the hitbox. They just gravitate to the obvious one.
If Batmobile was ever viable in comp, the other boxes pretty much have to be.
Thanks man!! For some reason I feel so good with the venom that confirm my theory thanks tho..!
Merc is what I used when I first started. The boxy nature made it just so easy to hit the ball.
What I’ve found makes me feel slow and heavy with the merc and others like that is the engine noise. It’s too grumbly and deep. Change the noise to octane and it actually, for me, sounds and therefore feels faster on pitch
Dominus has the furthest to the front hitbox, so you'll always win kickoffs against octane, hybrid, and plank. breakout ties
Def gonna give the hybrids a shot:) great vid thano as always
Thank you so much because every time i played with my friends i was almost always in the breakout and they used to flame me for it! now I know that I'm not the only one!
Great video. Thank you!
Great video man!
Have you tried the Halo Warthog? It's pretty awesome and feels more like the buggy than the van. For a giant vehicle, it feels effortless to try aerials
And flicks.
I’m a gc merc Main but didn’t start with it. Tbh I think switching cars every once and a while to something you have fun with is the most important, regardless of hitboxes
I'm a huge fan of the Insidio, which is a hybrid. For all the same reasons you listed here.
I believe you should practice and play with different styles.
Let's say you want to practice and play with ground dribbles today, pick one car for that and have it dedicated for that role.
Later, you fell like playing aerial style? Practice with a different hitbox.
My theory is that depending on your car, you'll be able to pay differently because you've practiced differently in that car.
I always use the Ace, Primo but mostly the Fennec. I'm an Octane HB main basically. But I always wanted to try out the Breakout HB. Maybe I should give it a go alongside with the Hybrid. I didn't knew it was so good...
i remember the old merc hitbox, it was hilarious destroying people with that
When I started I mained the octane (like most people) but I didn't want to really use it because it was the most used car ever. I like the fennec but it had the same hitbox. I'm a huge car fan so I bought the skyline when the FAF car bundle returned and I felt as if I was paying sooooo much better.
My fave dominus is the batmobile 2022, feels more agile but also more chunky/powerful
Venom main gang.
It is the Ontane of the hybrid hitbox and the Skyline is the Fenec.
Hey Thanovic, I was just wondering if you could add a list of the hitboxes and the cars that fits it inside the description please

I've used the Breakout in the form of Season 9s car, the Emperor. I liken its feel to as if someone tried to make the Dominus as user friendly as the Octane
I started out on the batmobile, moved to octane, and now i’m on dominus bc it feels like a good mix to me although i may move back to octane bc of the dominus’ height
Great video!
hybrid is underated for sure
i also don't like the skyline very much but i love the venom and r3mx, i don't own the tygris but i heard it's great too
Good video!
I think for me, it matters a little more that the car just matches the hitbox. I've never loved the octane for that reason. Fennec, yes. Skyline, yes. Breakout, yes. Even the merc, which I actually don't really like, at least I have a good visual representation of the hitbox. But I definitely don't like the plank. I drive right under the ball way too much even if the car matches the hitbox well.
I’ve always played with the Dominus (the literal car), and nothing anyones said has ever changed my my mind, or my car.
This video got me to try out the breakout
I myself main the Venom. It is the perfect car for me. With my controller settings dialed in, I've been getting a crap ton more hits and goals!❤❤❤
I'd give the Plank hitbox another go sometime, the Sentinel is actually my go-to for this hitbox and I like it a lot more than the Batmobile or Mantis - the hitbox matches the car pretty well on the Sentinel, and that makes ball touches way easier imo. Great video though, love the content 👍
Yes please more hybrid cars!
I main the hybrid. The octane is better for me if i need to slow my play down, but i just get better consistent power and control with the hybrid.
Can you give the Insidio a try? This is the best fit for the hybrid hitbox released with 1st season after the game went F2P. It would be interesting to see what you think about it =)
Agreed Insidio is by far the best fitting hitbox but it gets no recognition or love, it's crazy
@@MyNameIsMcBad Most people don't even know it exists ^^ I've been playing it 90% of the time since they made it available.
I noticed the turn radius is NEVER considered by anyone when ranking hit boxes. it does play a role in the car that you pick. hybrid has a worse turn radius than dominus, which is why IMO its worse than dominus
it depends on the player and their playstyle. I always go for flicks so i just can't use the octane. If I get the ball on my car and someone pre-jumps me, there is no chance they hit the ball. Also people say octane is better for 50s but that mostly depends on player skill. I win most of my 50s against octanes in gc2/3 lobbies because i know whether to jump, double jump, flip, delayed flip or not jump in most scenarios. If you know how to play in certain scenarios, any car can get you the W
True
thanovic u probably wont read this but i’ve been watching u for so long and i’ve gotten in game with u a couple times please read this i love u bro ❤
0:09 what are the name of the wheels you used there with the octane?
well looks like i gotta start playing with the breakout more often(i play with basically every hitbox but some more than others)
as a dominus main the driving under the ball is so relateble
I personally mained breakout a long time and the problem that i had is that the breakout is weak on 50's
the new golf is actually nuts, i love it
I love the Mach E. That’s octane box right?
Hey Thanovic. I was wondering if your could do a video comparing rl to the nba. I’m sure you can find other creative ways to make the comparison but the reason I had this idea is because more than have of the days I play rl for a prolonged period of time i find myself getting into a certain mindset that allowed me to play better than I would if it was my first game of the day. I’m sure you’ve heard of Koby Bryant having that ‘killer instinct’ I guess I’ll call it that. Also there’s multiple times a day where I pass up on a shot so my team8 can take a better shot. Or I strategically place myself in a position to make a shot after my team8 passes or misses a shot or in a place where I can challenge a defender if they take away possession from my team8. I feel there are a lot of similarities which is why I am curious to see what you come up with. I think it’ll be a great idea.
Thx
There was a UA-camr think called northernlion detailing why these aren't really used in high end play which was quite good, you might like the video series
I thought there are only 2 types of hitboxes the octane and the dominis because all the videos only talks about that two hitboxes can anyone tell me the reason why it is like that ?
Also how to know which car have which hitbox inside the game ?
I am beginner as said in video I will start playing merc for now :)
Those are the only 2 hit boxes people really use. The others aren’t really used by anyone unless a new car comes out and they try it out. As for knowing what car is what hitbox, if you are on PC you can use bakkesmod to check but otherwise you just have to google it
the new gti is a fucking amazing representation of the octane hitbox
It never gets old triggering opponents with the MERC.
2:18 kuxir
also ngl the merc is like the English electric lighting plane of rocket league cars
I have now played 6 hours with Venom. And ngl I havr over 90% of my hours on Octane. But I'm now switching to hybrid hitbox feels much much better than octane hitbox for me.
interesting video, keep up !
Love for the venom!
I go Dom, fen , then skyline , I do need to try the breakout , and randomly I will use the mav
Did they change the merc back ti the original? Thought it was just the octane hit box
us flat car players have to be extra careful what drive challenges we go for, you can't just 50 most players by driving in, you have to 'waste' a single jump usually to get a good 50, which can lead to slower recoveries.
Was plat 1 with octane changed to venom now d2
New vid yay
Ranks
Octane none
Plank 5th
Merc 4th
Dominos 3rd
Breakout 2nd
Hybrid 1st and maybe octane
I'm glad there's proof that the breakout hitbox is good.
Whichever one you like the most
Personally I use the Dingo because I love the way it looks. I used to use the Nissan 400Z but have found more success with the dingo than anything else
Try making a progression montage for when u climbed the ranks
You should try insidio for hybrid hitbox and centio for plank
My favorite hitbox in the game just got no pros to it just cons. Plank hitbox.
Im playing each hitbox almost in equal amounts. You surely missed few advantages for each. For example merc is greatest car for 50 with its big front area.
He literally mentioned it in this video.
I think you have the camera settings all wrong
The dominus requires closer camera settings and the breakout requires less angle around -13.
"I tried hitting some clips, didn't hit much"
*Double Flip-Reset*
Yo Wsp thanovic you gotta try the marauder it’s a octane hitbox and it’s insane just use it for like a week trust me you’ll love it.
Is there a list out there for the hit boxes for each car? I use the Takumi, but not sure what hitbox it falls under.
Takumi has an Octane hitbox!
Psyonix has a list on their Support page.
For me Skyline feels waay better than venom, venom feels worse than octane but the skyline is sometimes just as good or better than the octane if I've been using it for too long. Batmobile has the obvious issues but I feel very speedy when using it and it's so fun, Merc and Breakout are very good too. As for the Dominus, I'd use every other hitbox over it, it is good, but I don't like the feel most of the time.
Whenever I feel down with octane ,i change to merc and boom back to back wins
i love the batmobil
The dom hitbox feels like in sweeping the floor all the time.
2:13 lmao
Different hitboxes has different purposes, much like soccer in positions. If you are aggressive, then choose a hitbox that are fit, defense, etc.
Remember it’s called football
@@DinkyDingy Ik, it's just that people would get confused with their football
I'm octane main (just hit C3 last season) and would occasionally use Skyline (hybrid). I love the Skyline hitbox but hate the turn radius
You didn't mention how each hitbox also controls differently from each other. Which is the main reason I switched back to Octane
❤❤❤❤ love the videos
They should make a new special hit box that's bad at everything
Merc box got me to diamond for the first time and every time I get a new higher rank it's always with the merc box. For whatever reason I think the bronco feels way better than the merc does.
Can you update the video with newer hitboxes and cars like Primo
I could be wrong but i think the Batmobile has a special hit box endless they changed it when it was to good at flicks
