Man, i would love to go hiking through the woods and see all these old stills and learn as much about the history as i could, ive been fascinated by moonshining for years now, but i live in Central PA and theres not much in the way of the moonshine here, maybe in South West PA you might find a few who do it, but nothing like down there.... I love history of any kind, but i really enjoy moonshine history...
Back in the 90's my ex had family who made a little, even at that late date. Whether his son took up his hobby I do not know. His family is in the blue ridge mountains.
Come on down then. My family is from this town and we've got a history with it. My great great granddaddy was shot and killed over moonshine right around the great depression so my great granddaddy had to drop out of school at 9 years old to help his mom on the farm since he was the oldest of 6 siblings. As he got a bit older he eventually got involved with the business of running moonshine himself where he ran from the law a few times and went to jail over it a couple times. Unfortunately he passed away back in 2011 but my great grandmother is still alive at 95 years old and she's told me she remembers looking up at the mountains at night time back when and saying it looked liked there were lightnin bugs covering the mountain lighting it up but in reality it was the fires from all the still sites. She's got stories for days from back then but yall should come on down and check out the local history for yourselves
I am recovering from my fall from roof in June 2012 - I broke my leg, wrist and cracked pelvis. Good thing and blessing - I did not do more damage and have got back to functioning in all regards. Still have some healing but will not do anymore roof work. My wife and I just returned from Ireland and had a grand time. Posted several video's from trip. Dave KK4WW
One time I went to paint the home of a family friend in Franklin county. A gentleman who has since passed on asked me if I wanted a jar of shine. I said yes. We hopped in the truck and drove to a field in the middle of nowhere... He stopped told me to lift up a rock... pick the jar I wanted (blackberry) and leave the $20 under the rock. Welcome to Franklin county.🤣👍🥃
