A few weeks ago I emailed a craigslist bunny ad explaining how adding hay, a litter box, and a bigger pen would really improve the bunny's mood and overall lifestyle. The person emailed me back about a week later saying that it made all the difference and that they've decided to keep the bunny and care for it better because of my email :) Since then, I've been emailing and texting craigslist ads urging them to charge rehoming fees, improve the bunny's habitat, and just overall tips on rehoming, as well! Love this video!

Too everybody watching this! Loreli said that wrong! They should not be sold by 6 weeks! You need too wait inuti they are 8 weeks! Some babies still eat the moms milk when they are 6 weeks and can get sick if they leave the mother on 6 weeks or before!🚫🚫 Do not buy a Bunny that is under 8 weeks!!
Actually 6 weeks is not that bad, because some rabbits will stop drinking with thier mother at 6 weeks. But since every rabbit is different you wouldn't know for sure if they stopped drinking. Unless you watch them drink. Btw i am not pointing out on you, i think it is a good thing you put it here. And i would probably buy one at 12 weeks. It was just a fact i wanted to share.

Our friends let us keep the mother for 2 weeks because they weren't old enough (we got them from our friends)they were 9 weeks when the mother left them 😀
Let’s talk about the fact that they can die from eating fresh veggies before twelve weeks. My father defied me on this point, fed a litter of kits under twelve weeks old at the same time he fed a group of kits older than 12 weeks... guess which litter suffered a fatality. You never want to be at the death bed of a kit dying of severe and painful intestinal spasms. It is excruciatingly heartbreaking.

I don’t see meat rabbits as bad. If every part of them is used. Just like cows, chickens, pigs among others. It’s a good source and some people it’s easier to afford or find rabbit rather than other meats.

It's a bad way to express herself, but I don't think she meant the bunnies were crappy, more that the breeding results weren't what they planned. Breeding is way more complicated than people think and ideally, no one should be breeding except those that are experts in genetics and maintaining healthy breeds (of other species as well) which is an extremely costly job. The problem is people think breeding is a way to make an easy buck or two.
@@amsaric it still makes me sad. My bunny was turned down at the rescue for his red eyes so it's a touchy subject. I mean if someone called a child "crappy" everyone would be up in arms. I'm glad my bun is neutered so I don't ever have to deal with that!

I actually adopted two 8 week old bunnies from craigslist because I saw that they were being advertised as "easter bunnies" and that you should get them for "easter" and I am very against getting bunnies for easter. They were dwarf holland lop mixes and were being marketed for 25 dollars each which in my opinion is still a dangerously low price especially if you are selling on craigs list. I rescued both of them and they are now litter box trained free roam bunnies. I took them to the vet about 2 weeks after I got them. They were a little bit underweight because their previous owner wasn't feeding them enough hay. Now they're fine and we have a spay and neuter scheduled in a few months. Their names are now Jackson and Stella, and they are my best friends!

Please stop reporting them! We rescued a few bunnies and are trying to get them homes by selling them on craiglist who are people who keep them FREE ROAM cause we are in a situation where we are to poor to do that!!

Don't report ads, some people can't give proper care to rabbits and Craigslist is the only way they can advertise them and find them good, loving homes.

This triggered my anxiety. I’m so glad you’re able to do this because that’s something I could never do. I adopted my rabbit a week and a half ago and thanks to this channel she has an amazing life! I got my bunny on craigslist a few months after my first one passed away. I looked at ads for months because I was missing her so much but never got one.Then one day I was at school and saw an ad for a little chocolate colored bun named "Sparkles" popped up for $10. I instantly contacted the person but she didnt respond. Then I said I'd pay double and she got back to me right away. So glad I got HIM (definitely changed his name to Mocha). Hes the best bun and now lives the free roam life with his bun wife, Tiramisu!😊 I wish people understood the love a bunny can give. Let's make free roaming the new norm!❤

I recently just emailed a craigslist bunny and explained how there are different types of hay and linked her to Lennon the Bunny's video about the different types of hay so that she can be educated that there are hays out there that might not affect her allergies as much and how using an air purifier is truly a life saver for us with those allergies. She has decided to keep the bunny and try the different things that I suggested!

It's all in how you word it. It is very possible to have rescue rabbits and other rabbits for show. It is something people do nothing wrong with it if you know what your doing.
She said they have their own breeding stock but also rescue from auction houses and rehome the rescues. (Questionably...)

I wish I had found your channel before we got our family bunny. I had thought that she would be similar to a hamster or rodent, but obviously that is not the case. She is absolutely my world, I wish now I would have known better to give her a better first few years of life. We got her from Craigslist for $15 from a breeder when she was four or five months old, and when we got her we were completely uneducated. The fee is absolutely terrifying to think that she could have ended up as snake food. She's 4 years old now and is living a much better life than initially, and even now I'm still learning so much and working hard to make sure she lives the best life she can. Rabbits are such misunderstood animals, it really is horrible the misinformation that is out there, and I am so glad that you are here to shed light on some of the facts that are often buried ❤️
Hey Lorelei, I recently lost my little bunny from a vet error during neutering...just wanted to say thanks for making all these videos and spreading awareness on how to take care of bunnies.
This why neutering is not recommended by rabbit showers. Aka ARBA. And other knowledgeable rabbit breeders. Rabbits are prey animals, and often they can't survive a surgery like that

I have a very beautiful white bunny with red eyes, he has grey ears and a grey tail. I had him for almost 8 years now, he has always been free roamed and I never even thought about keeping him in a cage :) I’m so glad that u do this for the bunnies, it really means a lot of me, so many bunnies suffer because people can’t take care of them properly.
hey lorelei! I just wanted to say a couple things about breeding/showing rabbits. I think in previous videos you said you don’t know much about the topic… I show a “breeder rabbit” for my local FFA chapter. I personally don’t breed rabbits because I don’t have enough room to properly keep all the babies and enough time to take care of them. But I bought my rabbit from a breeder who I insured took proper care of them. When I went to her to buy my rabbit I asked her what kind of conditions the rabbits were kept in and she was actually very understanding about my wanting to ensure that they were coming from a good home. She immediately opened up her camera roll and started showing me a couple pictures of the room where she kept her rabbits. She kept them all in X pens when they were babies with their mom and when she started weaning them at seven weeks she separated them out into large 4 ft by 2 1/2 fr wire dog cages (i got a mini rex so at this age they are only about 2 lbs aka not very big and didn’t require an immense amount of room) . they received plenty of hay and vegetables every day along with woden toys for stimulation and entertainment. when I bought her I really wanted to make sure that I was only getting here for me safe breeder who treated her animals right. now. I have had my rabbit for two years and I keep her in a large x pen that is attached to an always open dog cage like hers. my 4.5 lb rabbit has about 32 ft² of enclosure to roam around all day long along with a litter box with hay, vegetables, toys, (all the other things you have spoken about). it’s really sad to me that about 90% of people in the rabbit showing industry don’t treat their rabbits right and often use inappropriate and unhealthy breeding methods and what not. I have put together a program for my schoolsFFA chapter that outlines all the requirements of nutrition, housing, and stimulation that rabbits require and have worked with my teacher to get this information out to everyone. We even held a fundraiser to help raise money for those who couldn’t afford the set up for the rabbit. I really just wanted to let you know that there are some good people who want what is best for their rabbit in the show world. Unfortunately as you have said the majority of them do not. I am really grateful for all the videos and work you put into your channel as they have taught me so much and have helped many of my friends. Please continue to do what you do and educate owners/save rabbits!❤️

@@DavidWaller123 no definitely not. it’s done a lot of good for me, but sadly there’s bad people in every organization. i’ve done my best to educate all my friends and make sure that all of our show animals are living the best lives possible.

I want to do something like this myself I went onto craigslist and I was so happy to find that in my area they were only two people selling bunnies and they were both charging rehoming fees ( one was 60 and the other was 40) and one of them said that their bunnies were free roaming litter box trained
You could hear that the first person almost started to cry when talking about not being able to keep the bunny. These are hard times for a lot of people.

My bestfried got her puppy at 2 month? Was told to be a "pure bred" ( she was not searching for that , but the race fit her lifestyle) wich it wasn't and when she got there , it was a puppymil. The dogs where in boxes and the person who sold them just shake the box up and down and told her " she's a tough one ,see?!"
She took the puppy and called animal protection after. And the old owner called her like 2 weeks after telling her that they mix the puppy with another one and to return the puppy she had.
The puppy almost die maaany time.
It's been 3 years and she a happy border collie x labrador mix :)
But man does i hate when people breed animal without any knowledge about how to care for them

My great grandma was a rabbit breeder, and she gave her bunnies the BEST of care, she had them freeroaming the garden and the house, they never went in cages, she found owners, and loved her, and they werent forced to breed, they got to choose their mates, so it makes me happy some are good breeders❤

i did this once and the guy was very old so he said “little girl, i know how to raise rabbits. i have done it for 27 years and i think i know more than a first time rabbit owner.” then i politely tried to tell him not to use wire bottom cages and not to house rabbits outdoors just because i was concerned for the bunnies well being. he told me that he was an experienced rabbit “breeder” (it was very obviously a mill) i said “please take those things into consideration” and hung up.
Straight up, if any man calls you a little girl again, please tell them you're a grown woman! I'm not a feminist, but I'm sick of this Good old boys, I'm better than you I can do what I want attitudes old men have. This is why women get r*ped. Sorry. Having a crap day.

I actually got my rabbit two weeks ago from a breeder for 10$, this was before I started watching your videos. Had I watched them beforehand I would've most definitely taken your advice, but I dont regret getting my bunny. Shes only about 6 weeks old but she's doing just fine! I love her and she's become really active and full of energy!
