  • Ste Jeanne D'Arc (St Joan of Arc) is a secondary patron saint of France. She was born around 1412 in Domrémy, Bar, France. When she was around 16 years old, she went to see the Dauphin of France, Charles. After various interrogations, the Dauphin provided her with a military household, and she left for Orléans. There she led the French troops to victory against the English, despite being wounded herself.
Under her inspiration and leadership, the French troops won one engagement after another. However, as her popularity grew, in the end, she was regarded as a rival of the Dauphin (now the king of France).
In the battle of Compiègne, Joan's troop was defeated and she was captured. She was put on trial, declared a heretic, and burned at the stake in 1431. Her body was completely burned to ash, but her heart remained intact. To eliminate any trace of her, her heart was dumped into the sea.
In 1450, King Charles VII ordered an inquiry into the trial. Joan was exonerated in this inquiry. She was canonised by Pope Benedict XV on May 16, 1920.
The lyric of this song was written by St Thérèse de Lisieux. She had a great devotion toward St Jeanne D'Arc. She even cosplayed as her once.
