Your videos are amazing, Colt! :) "World building" from your latest video was really inspiring to me as a creator who wants to make more vlogs in the New Year!
I think the main reason this is happening is that more and more people (creators and consumers alike) are getting fed up with the content on Instagram & TikTok. And, after all those years, UA-cam is still the best (and kind of the only) place, where content like this is actually appreciated.

My 2024 mantra is, "How do you want to spend your time." It's a simple way of looking at things I know, but it's my focus, especially this year. I'm no longer concerned about algorithms. I want my life back and no billion dollar corporations are going to define that for me. Come what may, I'm going down this path to have fun. I want to enjoy it and especially the people that are truly in my life on line and off I know as friends. Great post! Our success (in the big picture) isn't measured with clicks, views, comments, or algorithms like really. It's genuine connection, conversation, and sharing what's real and creative that makes the real human connection possible.
This video popped up on my recommended feed and I totally agree. Authenticity is the root of human connection so it makes sense that after all this "Mr beast" style of fast paced flashy edits are now becoming disingenuous. People miss when they could watch videos on this platform and get the feeling like they are hanging out with a friend. The platform is called UA-cam for a reason
Well put man. Yeah it's definitely felt like a breath of fresh air from what's been happening on the platform now. Videos that have what feels like real substance are so welcome.
UA-cam is my comfort zone. and as a newbie vlogger, I find YT as a platform where I could express myself in my most creative and authentic self. I find lots of great inspiration from this platform. and hopefully, one day I could grow my channel too so I could inspire more people! and yes, let's make UA-cam fun again!
Natelie Lynn, valspire and life of riza are some of my favorites right now. I think people are starting to wake up to the fact that the algorithm is just people. You are not “getting picked up by the algorithm”. The algorithm just found the audience that likes it. Thats all. I am hoping that i can find a way to make art entertaining to watch again but i have a long way to go as a film maker
It’s a new era which will change the future and even impact cinema which has been full of fast paced retention which is tiring. Also it’s time for us South Africans to rise and make an impact in media, let’s gooo bro!
Great point you made ! But I think it is the algorithm that is changing, like for some reason all I see on my feed are the videos of people who are inspired by Kariza and Colt. Like we are connect by a invisible string or sth
That's a great perspective. I think its great that UA-cam is able to recognize that there is a common ground with material like this and that there are enough people on the platform that can create a web. What's been great about this is that I'm coming across really small creators that are making really great videos, regardless of audience size. Audience size and video quality aren't aligned anymore so watching small creators feels worth it. Love this change in the algorithm.
Bro honestly while you where talking Natalie lynn was first person who came into my mind. Life of riza is amazing aswell. Give wholsome Simon a Watch hes also an amazing genuine fresh face.
Great insight! I think the shift to shorts from long form--and even the push before that to more formulaic and channel niche focused content-makes everything feel generic and shallow. So Viewers are getting repetitive dopamine hits instead of connecting with creators the way we did with Mckinnon and Neistat. I love this video...delighted the algorithm promoted it to me.
I have also noticed this, and the last few years I wasn't interested in UA-cam,. You said it correctly, it was dull and content was made for the algorithm. Recently I have noticed more unique and new content, UA-cam seems to also be pushing smaller creators again (or maybe its just to me). It feels fresh and fun. I'm excited to also maybe jumping on this and hopefully we will see this sort of content only growing. I miss the fun of the old UA-cam. So lets make the new UA-cam even better!
I sure hope it’s changing!! I got exhausted from watching pure entertainment. Just started my own channel and ever since then I feel like I have started finding, creating, appreciating better videos!
Good stuff. I always love getting new vlogger recommendations. I just looked up Natalie Lynn. You’re right. She has awesome vids. And yours are great too. Cheers! 🎄
@@thabangramodipaI watched the other two you mentioned also. They are great too. Btw, you might like my latest vlog about finding the MacOS Sonoma vineyard. Curious what you think. Always trying to improve. 📹👍
Love that you’re talking about this-I do indeed miss UA-cam being a space to share stories and perspectives in a genuine way (as opposed to being formulated or concerned about performance). Keep it up!
UA-cam has always been a easy to enter platform, while in the background some creators deliver on quality, story, and style. They consistently put in the work. Those you mentioned all use the same recipe.
I love love slower and more thoughtful content. This is definitely encouraging to me as I try to just make videos in my own way as more of self exploration (which is what art IS!) Love to all of ya 🥰
I started my UA-cam channel in 2016. I agree that today it seems like everyone is chasing the algorithm (sensationalizing, buying subs & views) it’s just not the same. I certainly hope change comes soon !!!
this is *precisely* the reason i started a channel, i felt this change too & wanted to be a part of it 💖 The whole uploading to try to befriend the algorithim never felt right for me.
We live in campgrounds and everytime we hit record, something annoying starts up like leaf blowers, beeping backup trucks, planes etc. thanks for showing people youtube has not shown me except life of Riza. Im not sure if you are right about youtube I hope so, we have an rv channel with 50 k subs and sometimes it seems like work. Larry
Haven't checked out NataliexLynn yet so thank you for the suggestion - but Colt and Riza are two new creators i've found that have truly inspired me to create some really cool content. As for this video, this was beautifully shot, you are so well spoken and I find it very inspiring. UA-cam has definitely felt a little dull but I agree, this potential new wave of vlogging is really exciting.
You're in for a treat with Natalie for sure. I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it. This ironically was the one video I wasn't feeling the greatest about. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the new wave. Thanks for watching
Dead ass I feel the same way when I start recording! It’s either a dog barking, leaf blower or an ambulance drives back slowly 😂 but I am on the same thing! I’m documenting my life as a first time film director. I’m retired from and switching career into doing this now! But I hope that it takes off only time will tell!
Your optimism and genuine generosity are so moving, my friend! I love your shots and angles you're trying out. When you said that UA-cam is becoming FUN again, and that creativity is a creative's gift under the tree you look forward to unwrapping, it truly shows the heart of a REAL creative... not just a content creator, gaming the algorithm. This is what I want to create for, and I know so many of us do, as well. Looking forward to more of your ART, Thabang!
This is far too kind, wow. Such a nice thing for you to say. Everything you're saying is everything I'm working towards so I'm glad you were able to identify some of those things even in this video
there's many parts if the internet . there s many parts of UA-cam. you just showcased a very niched UA-cam community . I love them btw.esp Riza, but overall, great video!
Thank you so much as those were such simple words but powerful and gave me huge motivation to finally get my Coastal Creator channel going. Hope you had an epic Christmas.
I love this perspective, let's stay more creative and less business. Business will always come but It's nicer to be inspired and proud. Thank you for continuing this wave of good energy with your video as a contribution. I'm looking forward to your videos and this Era, I feel it too. It's nice.
Yes!!!! Always keep in mind that the algorithm is only a reflection of what the people want. The algorithm follows what behaviors people show it. So, as people change this platform will always change. It’s a cool time to be a creator and just today I’m going to say I’ve noticed the platform pushing smaller creators and I’m so grateful because I follow all the people you mentioned but now I found you!!!!!! ❤ whoohooo
Thanks for this video! It only reassures what I was already feeling, and coincidentally, I recently discovered those three channels and absolutely love their storytelling and aesthetics!
i also make a youtube channel to talk about my country, my life in the way that i want and don't care too much about algorithm because i feel tired with tons of effect, what i really want is connect with people in the world, tell them about Vietnam, my life, averythings around me,...
I agree totally with what you're saying. I love what you said about it being a UA-cam New Wave, and I like to think of myself as a part of it. It's, like you're saying, a body of work rather than a system oriented produce of videos for the algorithm. It's feeling over logic. It's from the soul. I love this direction we are going into, and it's going to get better from here. It's important especially in the world we live in and the current dilemmas we face. Love it
in this video you spoke about creators who have tasteful content, i feel you yourself made such an amazing video with a soul and with the heart at the right place, the way you spoke about youtube being exciting again made me feel good. I was so drawn to this video. Way to go brother :)
I feel in a time where everyone is trying to be loud and flashy, trying to do a "Mr Beast" style video just to rake in money, UA-cam has lost its originality. Its creativity and personality. I love this video! It's such a chill vibe while also being fancy with the shots and editing! And i'm definitity gonna have to check out those other creators, their styles look fun! Thank you for this video man, here's to a fun creative 2024! 🎉
you’re so right about creators making content for the algorithm. it can be a great tool and goal to work with in mind but i feel like many creators have forgotten about the audiences that the algorithm is trying to reach. the algorithm is a tool to reach audiences, and i’m loving this wave of creators making content for audiences again
such a relaxing video. youtube was definitely feeling very formulaic, ive noticed its started reccomending lots of smaller channels recently which has been nice
I totally appreciate this video and this is the first video I’ve seen by you. Thank you for the suggestions to the other UA-camrs I’m going to check them out. I started UA-cam in 2009 really actively. And then I stopped and then I came back and then I stopped again for a lot of years and I’ve been back for the past couple years and I’ve seen the waves of UA-cam and I like what UA-cam is doing now where attending to take a turn back towards content that is geared towards the community rather than the corporation in the algorithm. That’s what it was like in the beginning in the early years and it’s nice to see it returning. I like your style of Vlogging. New subscriber here. Happy holidays.
i'm glad im not the only one who's noticing this! i am leaning more to these type of contents where I insipire more people but with a cinematic touch to it!
Been a Natalie fan, since she started her borderless series . And she recently posted the finale❤. Colt and Riza are my recent favsssss…. AS AN ASPIRING VLOGGER…. Been putting a lot of work in to finding my true style inspired by these creators ❤❤❤❤
Great video! I totally agree with you. I've also decided to vlog the way I like it, and stop thinking about the algorithm (which never worked for me anyway, haha!). Good luck!
Like the vibe of your video and I actually came across Natalie Lynn earlier this month as well for the 1st time and I think you're right :) subscribed!
I agree with you so much. I started to post on UA-cam last year and I’d say, as a new content creator, that I was bombarded with videos and shorts about “ how to grow you channel” or “how to beat the algorithm”. I think it definitely had an impact on me, in the sense that seeing that others seemed to care so much about the algorithm, I also started to care and obsess over it. It shouldn’t be that way and I appreciate so much that you talked about this. As a vlogger, I try my best to show my life as simple as it is, and letting go of how many people will watch my videos or not. I simply create and so do other amazing creators out there. I hope that this new wave of creators will bring more freedom, less caring about niche-posting and more about being authentic and creative. Love the video❤
I was feeling the same way. I was planning to make a video on this for sure, content has become very formulaic, this companies have taken it over with these jubilee type videos, the next wave of videos that are gonna blow will be amazing
When i started uploading this was one of the things i said to myself is that i wasn't going to follow YT's "rules." I can just create whatever i want and upload whenever i want. I don't want to stress over numbers and all that crap. It needs to be fun because if it's not, whats the point.
I agree! I feel like UA-cam wasn't hitting like it used to. But after stumbling upon Life of Riza's channel, it gave me the same feeling I had when first coming across Casey Neistat years ago. So much so that it inspired me to start creating! UA-cam is fun again.
Basically my 3 favorite creators :D I've also noticed the recent spread of creators creating for themselves and not for the algorithm. Im excited to see the future projects and things that people create
Ooh i like that you’ve noticed a spread of creators creating for themselves vs for the algorithm. This is what I’m hoping! I want to create things that make me primarily happy. ❤
I swear I’d just started jotting down ideas for a video along the same premise. Also, gad I came across your channel. Excited to see what you, and this next wave create!
Yo, great to see a Mzanzi brother doing his thing on YT. Well done on how successful this video is! Great energy. I agree with what you say. As a pro shooter who has been meeting brief for 24 years... I yearn to just see raw authenticity on UA-cam. Some channels are just another corporate entity, optimised, efficient, .... and soulless.
Thank you for talking about these UA-camrs and creators ‘cause I now have more people to be inspired by! I’ve been following Life of Riza for a while now and it makes me want to really want to explore my creative side with my own UA-cam more and as you say, “transform content into art”. And I’m so happy to have found you as well! Happy new year~
Thanks for lifting this Subject! I'm quite new to yt but I've been feeling the same and been wondering weather or not his is how its supposed to be but now i know for sure that its not and I'm gonna do my best to give back the sparkly vibe of entusiasm to UA-cam! ❤❤ ❤❤❤
Bravo! I am happy this video was recommended to me. I can see your point completely. I've only noticed the changes after the channel of lifeofriza blew up. I love the energy of this new UA-cam wave. Hopefully, we can all enjoy lots of new quality content soon!
Hope you had a good Christmas and thanks for this message. I feel that as a creator I just create what I feel is right for me at the time, I know it’s not exactly what the algorithm wants but it’s my journey. Let’s all keep creating and enjoy what we do 👌

Thank you!!!! This is what I need to hear! I recently started vlogging and found myself getting “ caught up in UA-cam” and deviating from why I started vlogging in the first place. ❤
Maaan, I feel like you're video is so accurate. To put it in a nutshell, those three you put on the thumbnail are the 3 people that gave me the envy to start creating some content
been on this platform for almost 12 years and yes there was time I thought UA-cam wasn't fun and entertaining anymore, it was when most of all creators are trying so hard to fit in the algorithm and they do anything for the 'audience' to stick around and i wasn't a fan of those moments. but i agree with you, since last year, i found amazing and talented creators like Life of Riza and Natalie Lynn, their videos became the reason why i started to watch UA-cam on daily basis again! i am so glad that creators like them are exist! and at last, i love your videos as well! keep making things!
I too put Natalie, Rita, and Colt in the same catalog! Natalie was the first I saw and I definitely felt the excitement of finding something new to be inspired by.

I feel you! 2017 was the year! 💃🏾 im falling back into love with creating what IIII want to create. I think someone summed it up well, he said, “create for people, not the algorithm” because the algorithm is for people anyway. I'm happy the algorithm showed me this video. I’ll be sure to check out that second person you talked about, I already know the other two 🥰 Merry Christmas! May the joy and peace Jesus Christ brings be with you in this season and always❤

This video was so well made! Kind of meta because you used those fun, cinematic elements while talking about the same vlogging style XD
Really appreciate you saying that. That's exactly what I was going for with this video. Was really doubting that it came across. Thanks for watching.
0:40 bro this shot is amazing and creative
The moment you started talking I was like … SOUTH AFRICAN UA-camR with beautiful shots?!!! Already love!
What are the other people you have come across? Would love to discover more.
Cheers! 🎄
She's definitely worth looking into. So happy to hear you enjoyed mine as well.
Keep it up!
I've been feeling the same thing my dude. Well said.
Thank you for the reminder that things are getting good again. Creating for the sake of creating 🧡
UA-cam has always been a easy to enter platform, while in the background some creators deliver on quality, story, and style. They consistently put in the work. Those you mentioned all use the same recipe.
I love love slower and more thoughtful content. This is definitely encouraging to me as I try to just make videos in my own way as more of self exploration (which is what art IS!)
Love to all of ya 🥰
Ma man here walking the talk with this vid! Great shots and edits, in the spirit of those he's praising! Made me excited for youtube again!
I started my UA-cam channel in 2016. I agree that today it seems like everyone is chasing the algorithm (sensationalizing, buying subs & views) it’s just not the same. I certainly hope change comes soon !!!
this is *precisely* the reason i started a channel, i felt this change too & wanted to be a part of it 💖 The whole uploading to try to befriend the algorithim never felt right for me.
keep coming back to this, such a good video Thabang.
We do what we can... 😁 Glad you all are paving the way. Still got loads to grow in so here's to hoping things just go up from here 🥂
We live in campgrounds and everytime we hit record, something annoying starts up like leaf blowers, beeping backup trucks, planes etc. thanks for showing people youtube has not shown me except life of Riza. Im not sure if you are right about youtube I hope so, we have an rv channel with 50 k subs and sometimes it seems like work. Larry
I loved this video!! Thanks for introducing me to these new creators and embodying the spirit too 😍
Proudly represent!!!! I totally agree, UA-cam is starting to be fun again!
Thought I was the only one noticing. Exciting to see that others have been feeling the same way.
Word of mouth and community beats the algorithm any day.
Yay to finding new South African UA-camrs!
❤ whoohooo
The mirror shot was awesome.
Vietnam is a beautiful country. I hope you find the people who appreciate your content for what it is.
thank you so much! i will try my best to improve my video
Love it
Yess!! Natalie Lynn is one of my favorite channels too. What you said is so true, these vlogs are so fun to watch!
in this video you spoke about creators who have tasteful content, i feel you yourself made such an amazing video with a soul and with the heart at the right place, the way you spoke about youtube being exciting again made me feel good. I was so drawn to this video. Way to go brother :)
I've been thinking this too. People are breaking out of the box. There is also a big movement to create cinematic / styled works.
Totally agree! All the vloggers you named, I’ve been watching for the past 2 month now.
They're honestly so amazing. And there are plenty more with both large and small audiences.
I HIGHLY HIGHLY agree with what you are saying, so many creators consider themselves 'influencers' when they are barely content creators
I really hope you’re right that UA-cam will popularise more that kind of creators. Keep making UA-cam fun!
🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 Here's to hoping that it keeps moving in a positive direction.
such a relaxing video. youtube was definitely feeling very formulaic, ive noticed its started reccomending lots of smaller channels recently which has been nice
That mirror on mirror shot!! 🤌🏾
😊 we try
I agree 'UA-cam IS FUN AGAIN"
please do more of this format , the way u started the video with that vibe was amazing
Let's do what we can to find voices of our own.
I’m glad the algorithm dropped this onto my page.
New subscriber here. ✌️
Thanks man. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Great video! I totally agree with you. I've also decided to vlog the way I like it, and stop thinking about the algorithm (which never worked for me anyway, haha!). Good luck!
I love the way you are highlighting this. Thinking of You Tube as an art medium (and not just a business) is truly inspiring to me. Thanks! ❤
Basically my 3 favorite creators :D
I've also noticed the recent spread of creators creating for themselves and not for the algorithm. Im excited to see the future projects and things that people create
If you love these creators, we are definitely birds of a feather. Hopefully this trend continues.
That’s nothing new. That just means that’s what you’re being recommended now.
Ooh i like that you’ve noticed a spread of creators creating for themselves vs for the algorithm. This is what I’m hoping! I want to create things that make me primarily happy. ❤
Great video!! I love love love Riza. She’s an inspiration to me starting my youtube channel :)
This was a great video talking about how transformative the content is now shifting on UA-cam with the New Wave
lets rise to the top together and try to change youtube!
Let’s all keep creating and enjoy what we do 👌
You're giving away the sauce bro. I've been working on this for like a 2 months
I watched Natalie for ages, my videos are maybe not the art of some of those mentioned but be got 300+ videos of what it’s like being a dad to 2 autistic twins and how we navigate life as a family , they will hopefully someday help others and historical in years to come if people look at them in 50+ years to show what life was like in the 21st century ❤, good video man
So true. Agree a 100% with what you said and that's why subscribed immediately. You seem like a lovely soul. God bless you :D
Ummm, I could cry…thank you from the bottom of my heart! This video was so helpful ❤
Thank you!!!! This is what I need to hear! I recently started vlogging and found myself getting “ caught up in UA-cam” and deviating from why I started vlogging in the first place. ❤
Loved this. That's my plan for next year, to make videos that are something worth creating in my own way, the algorithm be damned!
I’ve been following the exact same channels you mentioned, and as OG viewer seeing that natural development in vloggers styles and stories as yours makes me definitely excited and fulfilled.
I feel you! 2017 was the year! 💃🏾 im falling back into love with creating what IIII want to create. I think someone summed it up well, he said, “create for people, not the algorithm” because the algorithm is for people anyway. I'm happy the algorithm showed me this video. I’ll be sure to check out that second person you talked about, I already know the other two 🥰
Merry Christmas! May the joy and peace Jesus Christ brings be with you in this season and always❤
Couldn't agree with you more. And I'm glad there is somebody new for you to look into. Thanks for watching. And thank you for the wishes. Hope you can enjoy reflect on Christ's life and its significance during this season as well.
