Thank you so much! What a terrific walk through on a topic I'm trying to learn more about. I would like you to expand on triads, chord tones interspersed with Maj/Min Pentatonics and the major scale etc..

Yeah I dont know much about the modes except the start on different notes of the major scale. But how to play or use them, I do not know one thing about it..I have not found any explanations on here that make any sense to me yet at all.

Hi Michael, it took me a while to figure it out too, and I feel like the whole concept of using modes is somewhat overcomplicated. A mode is just a way of describing the sound that you get when chords are played vs. the key of the entire chord progression, e.g. a Dm chord in a track in the key of C. Emphasizing this Dm, playing its chord tones, or expanding the Dm with all the other notes of the parent key (C) 'tricks' the ear into thinking you're in the key of D minor instead of C, thus creating the typical 'dorian' sound. I used to think you could use whatever mode you want & wherever, but that's not true. It all comes down to think in chords vs. the key of the entire track. I hope this helps you a bit, maybe I should do a video on this, let me know.

Thank you for this video it's very helpful. I've been trying to learn to write solos. Do you think you could maybe make a video writing a song an solo from scratch. Like a walk-through? If it's not an inconvenience. Would love to see your ideas on note choice and structure. Thank you for your time.

Hi Justin, thanks for your feedback! Great suggestion btw, I'd love to make a video on that topic. There is a lot I could talk about however ;-) , so maybe I should start with an overview of my process? Let me know!
