- Another good day out in the high Sierra's searching for some trophy kokanee on the OldTown Sportsman 120 PDL kayak. Off the water by 10am before the water activities and toys took over the lake. Ended up catching a monster kokanee at the very end of my troll back to the boat launch. ENJOY, please like and subscribe!
Very nice lake. I use go fishing over there all the time.
Love this lake! the fishing so far this year has been very slow though. reports have been pretty bad. but Its still a really good lake overall.
I enjoyed your video. What made your poles bent over that much when you were trolling? Would you share a photo of your set up?
I have down rigger setups on my kayak. I don't mind sharing. I'll make a short little video of my setups with and without down riggers. It's pretty simple actually.
Cool video and thanks for sharing
Thank you, I'm working on getting better at talking to my audience and into the camera. Videos will get better.. I hope. lol
@@AlexIsOutdoors559 just keep fishing brother
Great video, looks like a nice day on the water. Have you ever tried locating fish and then sitting on top of them and jigging for Kokanee? Obviously the trolling works well for you with the peddle drive and down riggers, just wondering if you’ve tried jigging them.
I've been meaning to try that technique, i've seen other anglers on youtube have success doing that. but no, i haven't on this lake. now that you mentioned it, I will and document it.
@@AlexIsOutdoors559 Sweet! That would make a cool video. I was planning to kayak fish Shaver today and try it out but my plans changed. Ocean fishing next weekend and then the next after that is Memorial Day weekend so I think I will skip that weekend at Shaver. Good luck and I will keep an eye out for your video.
What depth were you targeting? How much line setback and weight was working for you?
This particular day I had my downriggers set between 45-55 feet. Set back at 30-35 feet back. When the water is cooler I tend to use slider rig with about 2-3oz weight at about 60-100 feet back. I have 2 downriggers so I can dictate depth pretty well. Hope that helps you out a little.
