I used to be in an actual F14 Tomcat squadron based at NAS Miramar. I would love to fly that, and make them into GI Joe Skystrikers and a Cobra Scythe, and have them launch and land on the USS Flagg.
There’s an ad on UA-cam which shows the Freewing F-14 for a price of $20.00. The F-14 is worth every cent, so its hard to imagine it being that cheap. It’s a total scam, and the video showed onboard from the 90mm Freewing F-22! Someone on UA-cam made a video where they ordered from the scammers and got a metal bend together airplane.
The reason I watched this vid(which is a great vid btw)is because I keeping getting ads on other vids I’m watching for this rc plane. When I went to ‘visit advertiser’, it brings me to a website called ‘winter rose’. The jet is listed for $19.99 + $14.99 shipping. I’m surprised that UA-cam openly and blatantly allows scammers to come on here to poach and rip people off. But hey if they’re paying for advertising then I guess it ok, right UA-cam?
Awesome!! My only concern is with the aileron mixing while the wings are swept.... How does that work? With another f-14 that I know of, when swept the tail works as ailerons with the wings surfaces not moving.... How does it fly with the wings swept?
Did a test flight with ailerons mixed to tailerons when wings swept. The plane is extremely sensitive to ailerons in this setup. I changed to using computer mixing instead of the board for the ailerons so the ailerons (and flaps) are locked in neutral when the wings are swept This helped a lot. Needs minimum of a 9 channel radio to do this.
@@MotionRC mmmm, Idk, reason 1: too expensive, reaction turbines are more than 5000, usually reason 2, I've never flown anything, tomcat is for advanced pilots. BUT, If i can, I Will ;)
Sorry Goose.. but it's time to buzz the tower... What happens if flaps are deployed and you sweep wings? is there a safety mix for that in the controller?. I want to buy this but still very expensive.
When are you going to up the power in the f-14? It’s my favorite plane by far but the power was pretty disappointing. It felt sluggish regardless of the batteries I used.
Been noticing mine gains nothing above 75% throttle with wings swept... The motors spin faster but the plane doesn't go faster. I'm looking at modifying the cheater holes and outlets.
@Motion RC Back in the day while F-14's were serving in Afghanistan when they retired our beloved big ole Tomcats from service they had a big problem. The USAF didn't have enough A-10 Warthogs to cover all of the requests for CAS (Close Air Support) so they would send in F-16's. The problem was A-10 Warthogs have a stall speed of 127 to 161 miles per hour. The F-16 has a stall speed of between 185 to 200 miles per hour depending on conditions (some say as high as 250 mph under certain conditions) which isn't as effective at supplying CAS. Before that the F-16 was A: Never, EVER Requested by anyone with a lick of sense. It was a last resort measure (think Hail Mary Pass) as the F-16 sucked at CAS. B: F-16's unlike the A-10 Warthog & F-14 Tomcat don't take to getting beat on very well they are excellent at many things but taking damage isn't one of them. C: They would have been better off (CAS wise) having Brett Favre throwing hand grenades in -30F degree weather, soaking wet & wearing nothing but a jockstrap, pumps & a tiara while on the run (Now get that mental image out of your head). Before the F-14 was retired he was often the second BEST option for situations requiring CAS (Close Air Support). Some like family members of mine preferred & requested Navy Close Air Support (mostly Marine Recon who were called Black Diamonds loved seeing F-14's flying in like Avenging Angels to the rescue). But wished the Navy & Marines had their own squadrons of A-10 Warthogs (they won't work on carriers because of that offset forward landing gear) as while less versatile the A-10's were best at CAS. Why would the F-14 be the second best CAS option you ask ? A; A Tomcat could drop down as low as 170 miles per hour with its wings fully extended (so slower than an F-16). B: Still maneuver like a whirling dervish as their wings can open & close independently while jockeying the throttle. Then get the H. E. double hockey sticks out of there in a hurry to avoid enemy fire & then jump right back into the fray without blinking. C. Take a beating & still kick some serious arse while taking it. Then get their pilots back home alive, get repairs & go back for more in relatively short order. How do I know I was a U.S. Navy Aviation Structural Mechanic (ASM) F-14 Tomcats. On a DEP (Delayed Entry Program) that signed a 3x6 year program. I studied aerospace engineering so I could get into flight school with the hope of flying F-14's. At the 2 & 1/2 mark I got crushed damaging my lower spine, 6 months later I was sent home. Once flight school wasn't possible (and the dream of flying F-14's) it no longer was a pure joy & the pain was insane. On a bright note at least I got my ride in a F-14 Tomcat (I didn't puke no matter how hard the climbs, dives, twists, rolls & maneuvers were........To be fair it was better than the best sex I ever had in my life. In fact I teased the pilot a bit about how he drove like my Southern Grandma (Actually he was "Looking a Little Green around the Gills" afterwards"). Which was the only thing cooler than my beloved 1993 British Racing Green McLaren F-1 that I acquired years later. That same pilot threw up(and others) in my car later down the road when we got together once again.
Motion RC For a couple reasons. This model actually looks like it flies better than most F-14 models while the wings are in full sweep, but I'm sure it's still pretty sensitive. I think half sweep would be a good in between setting. Real F-14s utilize a half swept position depending on the speed and maneuvers that are being flown. Plus I think half sweep looks cool. 😎
The F-14 is my favorite plane of all time, but this thing looks like it could be a hand-full. I'm afraid it would be a hangar queen if i owned it, as i would be too nervous when flying it and wreck it.
Wings spread and flaps slightly (about 7 to 1 deg) down, its a heavy, slightly fast, trainer. Very smooth and predictable. Definitely needs a lot of runway available for both takeoff and landing. Wings swept it isn't quite "rocket ship" fast. Roll becomes very sensitive.

They call this representative of a late-Tomcat VF-2 plane BUT the problem is-- The F-14D has a DUAL-chin pod and this EDF only had a SINGLE chin pod! Everything else is accurate including the gun exhaust shape but they screwed up THE major identifying feature of the D-model from the A- and B-model Tomcats! I thought they were going for an F-14D but the way this looks (going by exhaust nozzle shape and the chin pod) is more like an F-14B which VF-2 did NOT fly. VF-2 was equipped with F-14As from first Tomcat deployment (1974) to 1993 when they transitioned the D-model and they flew the F-14D until 2003. This model looks like it flies nice but the sweepback feature doesn't seem useful or the pilot didn't push the speed. In real life, the performance was markedly better with the wings swept back. The wings on the Tomcat are really only swept forward for their three basic configs -- landing, takeoff, and cruise and even at cruise they would be swept back a bit further because the plane simply flies too fast at cruise to have the wings fully swept forward. The plane rolled faster with wings swept and accelerated quicker as well. I didn't seen an appreciable difference with this model with the wings swept back but it may be that the scale is too small (and the engines simply aren't powerful enough) to make much aerodynamic difference.
Can fit 4X 5500 mah 3S packs. (or pair of 6S5500 mah) It needs a little tail weight for CG with the heavier packs. I like doing 2X3S in series instead of a single 6S because at landing you can pull the packs and they cool better. That leads to longer pack life (many more charge/discharge cycles)

With the wings swept she will exhibit more speed, faster roll rate. Similar to the real thing.
