  • Trying to get my curls back!! Obviously I have to keep working on it but we gotta start somewhere
    MASK DETAILS:
    -Aztec Clay Mask
    -Apple cider vinegar
    -Castor oil
    -Water
I kinda just used me measuring spoons and eyeballed it to get something that was thick but also watery. So just eyeball everything and make enough for your amount of hair

Clay masks with apple cider vinegar are really drying since its suppose to get out impurities. That doesn’t mean it’s bad but It would be really good for the scalp due to it possibly helping with build up at the root of your hair. That’d help target things like dandruff which happens only on the scalp. Putting it on the ends could cause excess drying and split ends because there is no impurities to draw out from your actual hair… just at the root/scalp. That could be why your curls didn’t bounce back automatically. Focus more on cleansing and putting oil on the scalp/roots and more moisturizing/nourishing products on the ends of the hair. If you’re really into Diy then I’d recommend mask that have ingredients like honey, avocado, Mayo, different types of oils like Olive oil or coconut oil (make sure that doesn’t get on scalp cause it can clog pores), egg whites, etc…

So idk if your hair is damaged from dying it or heat, but if it is, the only way to completely get your curls back is by cutting it off. Dye and heat damage changes the protein in your hair, changing the texture and pattern. It won’t go back to its original state until you cut it off. You can let it grow a bit and then cut a few inches off 3-5 and then repeat that process until your new curls grow out.

    • @isabel6241

this isn't true, my hair was once extremely heat and bleached damaged but i only cut 1-2 inches off whilst doing protein masks and braids to "train" my hair into curling again. took only 3-4 months to get a solid curl pattern back.

    • @quiriniagstevenson13

@@isabel6241 yes, that can happen. That’s very true. But what I’m specifically talking about is getting your natural curl pattern back. You can damage you hair and it can still be curly. But it won’t be in its origin curl pattern. You can get your curls back after damaging your hair but it won’t be what you originally had until you chop off the damaged hair and go back to Virgin hair.

I’ve been on my getting curls back journey for 4 years and wow do I see such a difference! When I tell you I killed my curls, I killed them 😂🤣 I use to bleach my hair, dye it all the time, straighten my hair religiously so honestly if I can do it, ANYONE CAN. Fast foward 4 years later with many hair masks, using curly hair approved shampoos and conditioners without harmful ingredients, completely cutting out heat, washing my hair with cool water, shirt drying after the shower and so much more has helped me tremendously!!! When I first started, my hair was UGLY. Some wavy, some straight, and some curly. My hair was also super super thin!! (When I naturally had thick hair all my life) I remember I felt so insecure with my hair. I was so tempted to give up and straighten it again but I was determined to get my curls back! I’m so glad I stuck with it though because I wouldn’t be here today with my beautiful natural curls back! I got my curl pattern back! She’s thriving, thick and super bouncy curly! It’s possible! Do your research, and stay committed. you got this! 💗

In my country we use clay mask for our hair so a few tips if someone wants to try that :
    1. Only the roots and don't let it sit for too long
    2. Oil the ends and length for extra protection
    3. Wash thoroughly or else you'll get dandruff
    4. If you can after washing your hair spray rose water on your scalp.
    5. Don't do it too often twice a month max.
Ps always patch test if it's your first time you never know what can happen.

Indian Aztec Clay mask is one of my favorite way to clean my hair.
If I may, don't use metal object when you make clay.
Mix the liquid first, (water and apple cider vinager), then add the clay. Let it sit for a few minutes.
The clay will absorb most of the liquid in it's own. Then mix it to complete the job.

As someone who used to do lots of diy masks when I was younger: Don't do it. You are wasting your time and can even make things worse for your hair and scalp if you don't know what you're doing. You are much better off buying a drug store hair mask with good ingredients, they will be specifically formulated and tested to work on your hair and you won't have to waste time cleaning up afterwards

Yeah, I’m sorry, but I fully disagree. This Aztec healing clay is definitely a great way to rejuvenate hair, and I have it under my counter for occasions when I need to “reset” an issue happening with my hair or scalp (typically due to buildup.) A few things were done wrong in this video. I personally would not add water or oil to this mask, I only use ACV. Also, it needs to be mixed with a non-metal utensil in a non-metal bowl.
I put it on, run it through my hair in sections and leave it be. You can also use this on your skin, so I put the excess on my face, and once dry, you wash it out. It’ll wash it with ease, and it gives me EXTREME curl definition.

imma have to disagree with you on this one. aztec clay masks are really good for your scalp, just not for your ends since they’re really drying. they’re better for targeting dandruff (which only happens on the scalp) and cleansing. on your ends, it can cause split ends. if you make it properly (like with a tutorial) then it’s fine, it’s not a complete waste of time. buying it at a drugstore or something is just a waste of money since you can just make it yourself. it’s also good to experiment with hair, you should find out what your hair specifically likes, everyone's hair is different.

I just tried this mask on my hair. It was okay and left a weird film. Dealing with the same thing with my curls loosening, but I'm gonna tell you right now the Aphogee two-step protein treatment works WAY better. Like literally made a big difference & it's less messy.

Ok with your hair texture don’t leave the mask for 30 mins do 15-20. It’ll dry out your scalp. Afterwards do a clarifying shampoo followed by a moisturizing shampoo and deep condition. Make sure you use a good leave in conditioner preferably a liquid because they won’t weigh your hair down. A curl cream that’s also light, scrunch your hair or finger coil and don’t put any oil in your hair. If you need to put it on your scalp afterwards and let your hair air dry.

I actually tried the clay for the first time ever today! But I tweaked my ingredients ALOT. I put 1 full banana, 1 1/2 tbsp of mayo, coconut oil, jojoba oil.. blended it & added the clay. I still ran out 3/4 of the way lol (I have a full head of head that’s to my bum when stretched). Anyways it was mad messy, so everyone who tries this.. remove ALL your mats off the bathroom floor lol.
BUT my hair has been in baddd shape for 2 years cuz I had shoulder surgery, but lemme tell youuuuu this mask has literally brought my hair back to life & it’s been badddd since my surgery. My curls were poppin, my hair didn’t feel dry I have 3c/4a/4b at my crown, my hair has been frizzy from the damage & it is 90% better.. I also trimmed it, so it just looks so healthy. I did use different ingredients so that does make a difference. Love the results! Your hair looks so much more alive girl ✨

Use clarifying shampoo for the initial wash, then wash with conditioner, then just condition as normal but brush it with the conditioner on. Use a towel to get rid of EXCESS water, do not dry it or even get it to the point of damp. Just pat it so it's not absolutely dripping. Then use a curling mousse and an oil while it is still wet, after that use a cotton scarf or t-shirt to wrap it until dry or until you're ready to take it off. Avoid using elastic hair ties, brushing when dry, and using products with sulfates and alcohol. Try using hair clips or scarves. I hope this helps someone as it's saved my hair entirely, though not the greying part 😂

You should try K18! It was clinically proven to rebuild the interior of damaged hair. It’s important to follow the instructions for maximum benefits. It’s really expensive but definitely worth it. This is coming from a curly girl who has out heat on her hair for YEARS (I used to hate my hair bc I looked different than those around me but now I love it and am so grateful for it) and have recently started bleaching and dyeing it in recent years. Olaplex is okay but it’s not great. Plus the formula isn’t really penetrating enough on some POC hair types. But K18 is better if you actually have damaged (and even healthy) hair and it works great for curly girls. Unlike Olaplex, it works long-term and over time, not just when you use it which is the case with Olaplex. Some people are “allergic” to some of the ingredients in Olaplex and it can cause their hair to break off, but it does work well for some people. I think it would be a good treatment here and there though. I really recommend k18 over Olaplex . You just have to wait four FULL minutes before adding any styling products or anything on top of that k18 treatment. You can see results almost instantly but of course it’s better to continue using it long term for the best results possible. It’s also vegan and cruelty free for those that it matters to! 💌

I agree. I don't have coloured hair but lately my curls were feeling very limp and falling flat at the end of shower day. I did my research and found out that my hair is just over moisturized and is craving some protein. The bonding salve protein treatment did its magic, you wanna follow it with shampoo, conditioner, and your regular styling routine (for me I used light weight leave in, and styling cream/gel like Ouidad, diffuse or airdry then some oil on the ends to soften the gel cast and fluff up the hair). My curls are now back to being SO bouncy, shiny, and healthy. Hope this helps!

This looks like it might be too drying. What got rid of my curls was the harsh products i was using on it and of course heat damage. Its a slow process to get them back but it’s possible! I did ACV rinses at first for like a year, once a week. Then I started moisturizing and leaving my hair alone. Like just shampoo, conditioner, detangle and NOTHING else. Scrunch to dry w a microfiber towel. And now it’s been like three years? And I’ve started using curly products again and learning to diffuse for special occasions.
