I met him a couple of times last decade. When he came into my work, I treated him as a regular customer, and not as a celebrity or anything like like. He respected that, and I'm sure he appreciated I didn't make a fuss and ask a crap load of questions and never once did I ask for his autograph.
When I first met him, I asked if he was Macauley Culkin, he said no, but he gets that a lot... then he paid with his credit card, and he was kinda embarrassed when I caught him in a white lie, which I understood at the time, because probably thought I'd make a big deal. But he was really down to earth and a respectable human being, he didn't have the attitude of he was better than anyone else, he was just really nice. I wish more celebrities were like him.

I'm glad to hear that of him! It certainly seems rare that Hollywood stars are actually good-hearted people, and relatable. Now, one thing that always struck me as odd of him was when he was going through the "controversy stage", and the story broke out of him being caught and arrested for possession of marijuana in Oklahoma, particularly because I was currently living in that state, and within that story, they didn't release the location of the incident. I know/remember that I, for one, was particularly curious about the general location of the incident, like the town/county, not necessarily the EXACT location, just a general idea. But other than that, I always felt sorry for him, particularly because of the way his father treated him, and always wished him the best.

My mom thought she'd do that, unfortunately she thought everything that doesn't leave a physical scar isn't abuse, she was whipped with a belt and locked up so she thought hitting your kid with the bare hand, kicking and yelling is fine, some people SHOULDN'T HAVE KIDS.

The only thing I take issue with is the statement "undo or erase his past". THAT is never possible. I can relate to his trauma. You move beyond it by leaving it behind as much as one can. Many of us never wanted marriage or children because of childhood abuse that will never be undone. Have any support that's healthy IS key to surviving it. Classmates at my 20 year reunion are baffled yet amazed that I'm actually normal despite years of childhood trauma.
My heart wants to hug him and I wish all the blessings he and his new family can imagine.

No wonder MJ had a special place in his heart for him- he had such a similar childhood and mj wanted to give him some form of respite/ escape from the crushing grip of his father, which he never got as a kid :( and thankfully he was successful enough that Macaulay’s dad was happy to let them be friends/ mentor and mentee, bc all he cared about was clout…
Mj was such a precious soul and Macaulay seems the same… two talented pure souls who had their childhoods stolen and their raw talent exploited by overbearing, abusive fathers.

Dispite having a father that not only didn't have his son's best interests in mind but also exploited him for financial gain. You hear so many tragic stories about child stars who either end up addicted to drugs or even worse die at a young age. I wish you and your family the best. I wonder if he will/is married to Brenda though. It seems like a trauma based move to not want to commit to the mother of your child simply because marriages don't always work out. But parents don't have to be married to be a family. Heck my own parents didn't marry until I was 11, and they were exclusively together since before I was born, and are still together to this day.
Also, a quick Google search not only revealed that they are currently engaged, but Culkin has been married before, and Brenda was engaged before too, so in my eyes, I think both had reasons to not rush into a decision on marriage

Love, me some Macaulay, he’s was a huge part of my childhood, like so many others. I like Kieran also along with his brother Rory, it’s a horrid sad shame what alot of child stars & even teen stars. Go through behind the scenes sacrificing their own childhoods for the sake of entertaining others. His father was extremely terrible, sounds like his mom wasn’t any better though no where near how awful his father was seems like. But lastly I’m glad that, Macaulay is doing things and living life on his terms. It was so good to see him on American Horror Story, again returning to acting on his on terms.

I really like him. He's like a friend of my childhood that I lost sight of but hope he is still okay wherever he is. I wish he will be even better soon.

Shirley Temple was extremely lucky to have had good parenting. She remains the most famous child star that ever lived, and if you listen to interviews, she was as taken advantage by the Hollywood system as any other child star. However, her mother was her guiding light and kept her grounded. When she outgrew her childhood cuteness and her Hollywood career floundered, she went on to do great things including being Ambassador to Ghana. Unfortunately, she is an exception to the rule.

Whenever Hollyweirdos talk about the "Stage Parent" what they mean is the parent refuses to allow them to be alone with the kid to mess with them. IOWs ,They are the "good" parents!

As someone who also had a traumatic childhood, I can't even imagine going through that WHILE in the public eye. I also had a large sum of money stolen from me by a gaurdian and it hit me HARD once I realized the effect that had on the start of my life as an adult on my own. My generation left home at 18, of course there were always those stragglers that stayed in mommy's basement until they were 30+ but overall they were the exception, not the rule as it seems to be now. This man deserves peace, I'm so glad to see he's finally found it. That final photo you showed with he, Brenda, and their child was heart warming.

Same. It is so hard to be an adult survivor of a traumatic childhood. Like you, my father and my uncle stole my inheritance, leaving me penniless after having an emergency back surgery. I worked my way up and am now worth more than both of them combined but it does not take the sting off.
I still have contact with them both bc I have found it harder than going NC.
My mother just died and while I am sad, it is more of a relief. She can never hurt me again with "knocking me down a peg" or making me the bad guy bc I will not deliver my own children, her only grandchildren (out of 4 now adult kids, Im the only one to have kids of my own) to her instead of her traveling to visit my kids in their own home.
My sister, who is childless by choice, also expects me to facilitate visits with my kids. I now live across the country. 3,000 miles away. When I told her we were moving bc this is where we could make the best lives for ourselves, she told me Im a bad mother bc I was "taking the children away from her and her love." I drew a line in the sand a year ago and have stuck to it. Im NC with her and block her from my kids.
I am teaching my children how to have healthy boundaries and am FULLY committed to ending the cycle of negativity and abuse.

The “stragglers” you refer to could have a whole set of problems and a history of abuse that you know nothing about. I would suggest you stop judging others and realise that you don’t have to put others down to make yourself feel better :)
