In my late 20s my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins and the largest tumor was a football shaped one embedded in the chest. It was not surgically removable, so heavy duty Chemotherapy began. I was told he might have 6 monthes to live and a 5% chance of going into remission/cure. Almost 40 years later he is still mean as a snake and kicking his heels up. Don't give up hope ever.

I feel like anyone in the audience who saw you cry would be honored to be there for you, to show love and support when you needed it the most! You are human... Music is emotion and the fact that people got to see all of you will be something that they will never forget for all the right reasons! Never do what you think they showed up for! They showed up for you and looking at the faces of the people tells me that they wished that they could comfort you and take away your tears! You have every right to cry when and where it happens!

I thought the same. Artists put their emotions into songs and then they should perform lole robots? No! You're human, that's what this is for. I don't want to go to shows that feel like they're being only all acts. If you wouldn't accept humanity of an artist, you're just a douchebag. Thanks for your comment

To hear Ed Sheeran talk about depression after losing one of his best friends early in his career really tugs at your heart and soul. I can relate to that loss for my Dad was my biggest supporter while I was attending medical school. He was my role model and taught me how to properly suture up a wound on a patient so well that I beat my chief surgical resident closing an abdominal surgery wound as an intern. The judge of the contest was the patient herself who said that my half of the surgery looked better. Thanks Dad ❤️🙏❤️🙏

Respectfully, Ed’s association and friendship with Jamal Edwards wasn’t very early in his career. The time I met him, he was slinging a guitar as nearly his only possession. By then he was already a well-seasoned musician. He touches on the fact of his long homelessness in this video. Surely there were (in the crowd watching him busk on the Santa Monica pier) some people who looked down their noses at him for being an immigrant without a trust fund, but most of us saw a young genius with a mission to bring and share his gifts with everyone.

I am so grateful that I watched this.
To some extent, I can relate to the negatives Ed has faced. I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 29. I remember the days that I had to wait to find out how serious it was. In those days (which turned out to be weeks), I also discovered that I was pregnant. I was very early in my pregnancy and I was not willing to lose my child for treatment. I had the mass removed right before I found out that I was expecting but that was as much as I was willing to do. At 38 weeks, my baby boy was born, healthy and happy. And for me, he was my saving grace. When I had been first diagnosed, I spiraled so badly. Nobody wants to hear that they've got cancer in pregnancy, but hearing it in your 20's when you already have 2 small children you're raising, it's very devastating. My youngest was only a year old,, my daughter was barely 3. That pregnancy changed me. I went from being in that depressing spiral to having a purpose for living, if at first it was only to get my little one here in the best condition I could. And I did. He was the happiest baby I have ever seen. I have always felt a special connection to him because I feel like he saved me. He's now 13 and he's amazing. He just got his first college scholarship and he makes me so proud. I'm proud of all my kids because they've all been amazing.
My cancer luckily required no immediate treatment after his birth until it came back 5 years later. Right now, I'm back in remission but I know that there's always the potential that it will return or spread and that I've got to just take today and be grateful for the time that I have.
I haven't had the easiest life. That's all I can say. But I have learned a lot from my experiences. Grief is like a monsoon. It can come out of nowhere and hit you really hard. You have to learn to ride it out because they always end at some point. Monsoons can cause damage, floodgates bursting open, but with time, it will clear away and you can see clearly again. It doesn't mean that it won't return, but you learn to ride out the hard times, allow yourself time to grieve and feel, cry and scream, and then the darkness fades and you can appreciate the light you find in those you love and even in the memories of those you have loved that may no longer be with you. I know this probably sounds crazy, but grief isn't an easy topic because it's so incredibly personal.
I can't imagine trying to perform when that monsoon hits. Somettimes though, you need to put yourself and your mental health first and know that the people who love and follow you can and will understand that you are human with human emotions, human feelings, and human experiences that go far beyond that stage. If someone doesn't understand that you and your family, your life, your mental health should be first, they aren't really a fan. They're a narcissist with no empathy for someone who is struggling with every day life. Never be embarrassed by emotion. It makes you more human, more relatable, and more loveable to your true fan base. Good luck with the future and I pray that you and your family find time for healing and building strong bonds so that you always have them to fall back to when that storm starts to fall. You're an inspiration, Ed. As is your beautiful wife.

Leslie, so very well said. It's so true grief comes in waves. One day you think you feel fine and a song or a person, or nothing at all, throws you back into the crashing waves. You don't want to believe or accept that person is gone. I pray there is "another side" I personally have gotten messages from loved ones even animals! Maybe my brain is making it up, but I really don't think so!! Hang in there Ed & Cheri. And everyone else going through grief. I had a very sad year myself, lost my dad, cousins, Aunts, it kept hitting. I can't cry, but I know one day I will....and that will be a good day. I need to cry.

Sometimes it is the hardest thing to bare your soul to others and really open up. He seems like a person who is very normal despite his fame and like most men, find it really difficult to process the emotions that society tells men specifically to push down. As for Taylor, I just love her! She is one of the most normal celebrities and I'm glad she's been a mentor and friend to Ed. Authenticity is in. That’s why he and Taylor are such good friends. They are authentic. Real. True. Ed is wise. Very wise. I suspect he was born wise.
Hope Ed, Cherry and girls have a long life of joy and warmth and health.

It's in the darkest days we find our true selves. We find out how strong we really are. Having lost everyone important in my life has taught me more about myself than anything else could. Some of us are meant to live through loss so we can be an example of what strength truly is.

Good for Sheeran not addressing Jamals death and personal business of his dear friend, but merely stating 'there are many more layers' instead of inadvertently feeding the press for curiosity seekers and gossip mongers. I truly respect that.

My BFF passed unexpectedly in 1996. The pain of their absence never goes away. But time helps you to deal with it. And time helps you to dampen down how overwhelming the grief is, allows you to breathe again, and allows you to remember the good times, the laughter, and the shared memories.
If you've lost someone, especially someone that is a vital part of your life; know that you will find a way through. You just have to keep hanging on. The sun will rise again in the morning, no matter how dark the night is. Even if you live in an area of the world with weeks of darkness, you know that the sun will still eventually get back above the horizon.
Sending you hugs from an internet stranger.

After losing my daughter I can relate to that 'lost' feeling Ed talks about. You can be in a room of people that love you but there is a huge hole that is empty and you get lost in that grief and desperation. I feel for his wife as she must spend alot of time alone raising their children but also respecting the fact she knew parts would be tough yet still supporting Ed. I love they keep their private life away from the media and somehow balance family life in a world that must at times feel like an out of control rollarcoaster. Eds music such as visiting hours that was played at my daughters funeral and Dancing with my eyes closed will always pull at my heart strings but bring back beautiful if not sad memories wrapped up in the lyrics of a song. Long may their marriage stay forever strong.

I just love him! I love the relationship he has with his wife, you can see he truly loves her. And besties with Taylor Swift is pretty cool and obviously helped him. But being on stage and finally letting it go, was what opened the door for his healing. Death is always horrible and hurtful, and that won't ever change if it's a loved one. However, death can be a great thing, if it's someone who took lives, did horrible and grotesque things and deserved to die! What happened to Jamal happened to a friend of mine, a dj who never took xtc when we all did, he was always out designated driver but 20 years later would have a stroke after taking xtc when he was dj at a party. He survived thankfully but almost died, had to learn to live again, walk, talk, everything. I know we used to party but I would never take xtc in this day and age, it's so dirty. We got it from people making it at the university so alot safer, no not safe but safer.

When you let people in you find out that you are not alone! Loss is the most horrific feeling you will ever encounter. When Ed said that after Jamal passed he wanted the world to feel as he did. When I lost my husband I couldn’t understand how people around me were just going on with their daily lives as if nothing happened. It was the most surreal feeling I have ever felt.

Im so sorry about what you are going through Ed ..i felt the same way..my dad died in 2010 then my big sister 8 months later..my beautiful mom who is 91 is the one who truly keeps me going she has had non hodkins lymphoma and breast cancer twice and beat it ! She had chemo but also drank an herbal drink during that time during her chemo behind the dr's back..he did tell her i don't know what your doing but you better keep doing it😂 your wife looks like a strong wonderful person and a fighter❤
Im so sorry about Jamal i know the feeling when my dad died that day literally was gray..i felt like i was going crazy with all of the what if's then when my big sister died..she was 7 years older than me so she was like a second mom and my bestfriend too..but like you when she died at the hospital that night i felt like the world should stop at least for a minute but i could see out the window cars still driving by and the world going on and you got to still get up and go to work and act like everythings ok and break down in front of co workers and strangers but
Even though at first i was asking for God's help because i was angry at myself ..i just wanted to punish myself because i felt like it was all my fault what if i would have done this or done that finally after 6 months of torturing myself i asked God to help me and he did❤
    The scripture
"No eyes have seen no ears have heard what God has in store for us" always keeps my heart warm and also the promise of seeing our loved ones again... so i keep going for my mama, my husband and my other sister because times were pretty bleak back then..do i still pick up my phone 13 years later to try and text or call my sister yes i do
And its heartbreaking but i know i will see her again..right now its just in my memory and my dreams❤

I just watched the movie Elvis yesterday on Netflix. I was so happy to hear Ed talk about taking time for his family and appreciating life. So many amazing musicians have fallen because of drugs. I hope Ed and Taylor and so many others learn from these past musicians and stay away from the drugs that are pushed on them to keep performing. These amazing musicians are people too, they are not machines and should not be treated as so. #balance

I'm so glad you could be real about the grief and loss of your friend Ed. Grief is the most painful experience of our entire life. Losing those you love and mean so much to you can be unbearable. Allowing yourself to grieve and process loss is the only way to get through to the other side of loss, and that is peace. Doing this process will make it easier to process any loss in the future. Losing someone can absolutely gut you and usually does. But there is always hope. Depending on what you believe in, and I believe in the 4th dimension, where spirit resides. I know I will see my loved ones again. that is my hope and I hope you can find that kind of peace.

I was diagnosed with four different cancers in September . I saw another doctor for second opinion and as soon as she found out I don’t have any money she said oh you can have a normal life . I went from constantly going and doing a lot to having a hard time doing anything . Walking, opening up a bottle of water etc. Everything is a struggle . Nobody will help me so I’m just waiting to die. I’m now so depressed and cry a lot . I have worked my entire life to help others in any way possible . And now I’m so alone . It’s really hard not only for me but my husband, he’s doing everything I used to do now . And he’s having problems now medically .
