@@kwindafidler7728It doesn't mean anything. It's just the word "Saved" but the d is flipped into a b and v is turned into a w because w is just v 2 times.

Came here after watching Tomatoanus's vid. That's sub 38 is def happening. Didn't know the HL2 run has gotten this insane.
The game engine was screaming in agony throughout this.

Imagine being a combine civil protection unit just trying to see his wife again and as part of the job you have to kill some nerd in power armour cuz he met some resistance members and just as he approaches your location in a sewer that leads to the shoreline, he procides to jump past you and the heli that droped u off at such insane speeds that the heli physicly cannot catch up just so he can kill your boss a couple seconds faster
at that point id just quit the being civil protection while i still have my humanity

Congrats! Do you have a tutorial that you suggest to learn how to speedrun this game casually ? Especially about how you bunny hop forward . I tried to accelerated back bunnyhop with limited success but it would seem easier with a toggle jump script. Is that allowed to be used? Thank you.
I'm currently working on a tutorial for the entire game but it's nowhere even close to done. We don't really have an up to date tutorial for full game runs.
The most up-to-date one is waezone's, but even that one is from 2019. You can follow it for the most part, just keep in mind that ghosting mod isn't allowed for runs anymore.

You can use an auto jump script if you want to just speedrun casually and won't submit to the leaderboards, but scripts are officially not allowed so you'll have to use your scroll wheel to jump if you want to submit to the boards.
@@peng939 It would be realy nice if you'll make a tutorial. I speedruned hl1mov%, but original game is much harder, especially cutscene skips like RLD.

Sum of best is crazy, is there plans or wip segmented new engine run?
There is a wip run in the works, but I personally dislike it. The lead uses his own timing for the segments instead of the standard method so that he can speed up cutscenes by just removing time from segments. It also doesn't use saveload clipping at all.

Why no use r_portalsopenall 1?
The most recent iteration was found in february this year, portalsopenall is used, it just turns itself off on game restarts

if you made a ram drive, installed HL2 to that, and ran teh whole game off it - could you save another 30 or so seconds with decreased load times? given how much you load saves in this game..... id think even more than 30 seconds?
I already do that, and run times are generally counted without loads. Theyre also mostly CPU bottlenecked unfortunately.
@@peng939 ahh, got ya. it just looked like the clock was still ticking on this run even when we were staring at a loading screen. given how old the game is - even with a newer update, how many cores does this thing run on? like would a single 8 core ryzen @ 4.5Ghz be better than a 4 core at 6Ghz?
@@beardedgaming3741 I'd imagine it would run better with a 4 core 6ghz, but I can't say for sure, idk how multi threaded it is, but given its age - probably not very
@@peng939 id be super curious to test that. with the modern CPU's... i wonder if you could get as much as 10 seconds off?? my ryzen clocks to 6.1 rn on liquid. next gen is rumored to be 6 from factory so... maybe 6.5-7??

How do you just unlock noclip at the end
Whenever in a vehicle, the player always has noclip, and the pod is considered one.
Usually leaving a vehicle is supposed to take noclip away from the player.
The way getting out of it works in the game logic, is that it forces the player to start exiting it, and then right after exiting it the pod gets deleted. By saving and loading repeatedly while exiting the pod we perform a glitch called saveload lag or slag for short. This delays us fully exiting the pod to *after* it gets deleted, meaning that it gets deleted while the player is still inside of it, and has noclip.
This means that the noclip never gets taken away and the player is free of the shackles called being bound to the pod.
