I Rescued 2 HUGE Rattlesnakes in 1 Florida Yard!

- My neighbor found two huge Eastern diamondback rattlesnakes in her yard in Florida on 2 different days. This is how I capture and release them back into the wild. Rescuing these beautiful creatures is definitely the way to go, but you need the proper training always!

I am a native Texan and these guys are everywhere if you’re in the right territory. It’s amazing how well behaved these snakes were! Rattlesnakes are not out to hurt anybody. They just want to be left alone and this video proves just that. Thank you Kenan for saving these two beautiful animals! 😊
i appreciate when people want to save a snake instead of killing them i told my neighbors call me anytime i will remove for them
Excellent!
I know people must be licensed to relocate venomous snakes in FL, but better to safely relocate than kill them. Years ago my brother would just move them off his property to the adjacent wildlife preserve. The area actually became a preserve when bro informed the authorities he witnessed the owner *pouring cement into the Gopher Tortoise burrows* before beginning construction on an intended housing development! Bro was hailed as a local hero, the owner was fined a hefty sum for each tortoise burrow he filled and the property was seized and turned into a wildlife preserve. Later they found out the prior owner fled back to China before paying any of the fine!
Your neighbors (and animals) are so lucky to have you around! 🤗💜🦖
Thanks Pinky! We all help each other out. That's what being a good neighbor is all about!
Great saves. And beautiful snakes. Happy they got saved and relocated safely. ❤
Dogs and people are dangerous to beautiful snakes. Thank you for saving the Rattlesnake. I hope the snake does not venture into danger again. Many thanks to Jen for loving snakes.
Thanks Karyann!
@@KampKenan You've got the mate from the other one so now you've got the say there makes away somewhere close to them
Thanks Kenan! I love how the video turned out, especially the end 😂
I am so blessed to have you as a friend and neighbor. It was great getting to see both snakes up close on video!
Any time!
The first snake was much darker in color. Different snakes. I’ve moved 2 Water Moccasins off neighbors property because they know to call me. I love it!
Twice when I was a kid I should have been bitten by a cottonmouth, once when I wasn't paying attention, thought it was a stick and tried to grab it, luckily it flew right out of my hand to get away. The second time I saw this huge beautiful Robin stuck in some algae so I went down to pull it free, less than a foot away was that same cottonmouth which had already struck the Robin unbeknownst to me, didn't even try to strike me. I found out when I ran the Robin to our next door neighbor that the snake had already bitten the Robin, sad but that's nature. Impressed that this cottonmouth never tried to bite.
@@bkm2797 Yup. That’s what usually happens. I am surprised that the one you grabbed didn’t. That’s usually when they do. Whew!😊
It was in shallow water, and I had barely begun to try and pick it up, this was in a huge drainage ditch behind our house in Winter Park Florida, had an incredible eco system.
@@bkm2797 That’s the same thing I have on my street. I’m glad you weren’t bit!
Yeah they are awesome if you enjoy wildlife, we had so many different critters living in and around that ditch, saw my first soft shell turtle in there, lol.
Goodonya Kenan!
What a beautiful snake! Its colour and pattern and great set of ... rattles!
More snakes means less rats.
Thanks to Jen for being a good human! ❤
Good for you! I’m 73 and before I became too disabled to do so I moved snakes, including rattlers…one moccasin…and various non-poisonous ones whenever I saw them in human busy areas or on roads. No tools…would get a nice long stick and gently annoyed them until they boogied or picked them up by hand. Bitten once when I was a kid after picking up a fairly large green water snake in San Antonio. Good lesson. When we lived in N Florida the bubbas would go on rattlesnake hunts…they’d hang the big ones from light posts. Had quite an impression on me. My father hated it…I cried my eyes out. Our current neighbor was killing any snake on sight…we back on a river in DE so there are all kinds. Took a while but I finally persuaded her that was the wrong thing to do…she hates rodents more than snakes. Beautiful rattlers.
Absolutely fantastic video Kennan! Love it. It has so much valueable information, as well as a clear message that these animals are not out to harm any of us. It made my appreciation for these amazing animals even greater, so thank you for that!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate that!
Thank You So Much, Jen ! You and Kenan are great neighbors for your local Reptiles ! And I can tell that you are raising wonderful kids as well !!!
Definitely two different beauties. First one is darker and actually prettier because of that dramatic dark color. Love the buzzing.
We have rattlers here in Nevada. Have come across them on horseback. I wouldn’t push it, but they always back away if they can.
I have bull snakes in my yard. I’m always so excited to see them.
Great work saving them! Love it!!
That camouflage is insane
Thank you Mr. Harkin 😊
Excellent instructional video!! Well done. Thanks for sharing with us.
Have a great day Kenan!
You too!
Gorgeous critters!
Thank you Kenan. Predators need love too.
What a fantastic video! Thanks.
Great job, thank you for your community service
You bet. Thanks for watching!
Canon you're an awesome person I have nothing but respect for you and the things that you do in life buddy keep it up keep it up buddy you give hope and love to people who love animals❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm happy, a person with the necessary expertise, like you, had been within reach here to get the job done - thanks a lot for conducting these recue missions! Just a joy to watch!
I was wondering how u got around moving them but that explains it and wow the second one the light colour of that lower portion wow beautiful animals and good job and safely relocating them
Bucket buddy!!!
Keep up the good work
Beautiful snakes!!! Thanks for sharing this!! I grew up on a tobacco farm. Copper heads were the norm. I absolutely love all animals!! Please don't stop posting videos!! Thanks for sharing!!🐍🐍💕💕😃💐🌈
Big locking foreceps are really nice to clamp the bag closed.
Yes they are!
I’ve seen people add a large zip-tie under the knot to insure the snake cannot push through, then snip it off during release.
Heres why you need to stay up on your training lol. Lord. Thank god all went well. Good on you
Snakes absolutely don't have ears Kenan 🤦🏽♀️ they feel liberation.
Liberate snakes now!
Snake solidarity!
Ratify reptiles!
Snakes are people too!
_ho ho - hey hey herpetology’s here to stay!_ 😮 😂
OMG jump scare whenever it strikes
Wow! Great job. I love how they come out of the bag ready for anything. The snakes are definitely different. The second one has more brown and gray tones, and as Jen mentioned the first one is a lot darker.
Excellent video as always. I would caution most people not to use a bag to transport venomous snakes. A heavy plastic bucket with a secure lid is safer. Kenan has tons of experience, most of us don't.
Great tip!
Thinking the rattlers might have been meeting up being Spring and all. Thanks for saving them Kenan!🐍👍❤️
Also probably fleeing from their territory that’s being cleared, the sawing sounded nearby. I noticed trees marked most likely for cutting which begs the question why are they removing trees from a nature preserve? They could clear the undergrowth with a controlled burn. Sounds suspect.
Thinking under these circumstances that would be worse for the wildlife. To be honest, I'm amazed there are pockets of woods in Florida, even more that they haven't jackhammered themselves right off the not too thick lime shelf Florida floats on. Crazy place
I'm so glad we don't have rattlesnakes in Australia but we do have lots of poisonous snakes here I'm not a fan of them as i was bitten by a brown snake when i was a kid
Woh!
Love that you rescue all these reptiles. Can someone tell me why a green iguana would not eat or use bathroom? Waiting to get into vet.Any help would be greatly appreciated
Such awesome animals. My favorites are some of the smaller species but still, super cool. Thank you for saving them, humans haven't always been respectful of rattlesnakes sadly.
Rattle snakes are like buses they don't come along often, but when they do, they come all at once from Scotland.
Scottish rattlers !!!! , that’s a new one we don’t even have them in wiltshire.
I just got a baby Everglades rat snake from underground reptiles today kenan
My father used to say people walk by many more snakes than they see. He taught me how to handle them…during the Great Depression he collected rattlers for a scientist in San Antonio to develop antivenin…helped the guy milk them as well. Used the money for flight training.
That's an awesome family story of perseverance while trying to save lives by making anti -venom
@@JohnCothran-c5p I was definitely impressed…and he was an impressive man, brilliant scientist, artist, a gentle, supportive and kind parent. He believed a woman could do anything a man could do…except for a few teachers, he was the only voice insisting that in my childhood in the 50s & 60s. From the perspective of most of my teachers, he created a monster, lol. I remember him meeting with a guidance counselor who insisted I take typing and not physics. He took me with him when he met with her…no yelling, just persuasion. Once I entered my teens he taught me judo, which he’d learned during flight training in WWII, and very dirty street fighting techniques. Gave me a confidence that most young women of my generation sadly didn’t have, given their rearing. I had to keep the training from my mother, lol. I’m deeply grateful to him and miss him terribly.
That’s crazy I didn’t think they were loud like cicadas
Do you also use the bucket with lid method while
re homing these beautiful Rattlesnakes ?
From k o r y j a n e s I wish you and your family the best of love and Hartfield life buddy you're an amazing person and you and your family deserve an amazing life God bless and God love you buddy❤❤❤❤❤❤
And she didn't strike til you messed with her tail, which I'm sure she thought was you attempting to eat her. Good loud buzz too, which is an excellent thing. We don't need to select for quiet ones... we need to reward noisy ones with good relocations.
Looks like the second snake had more links or bands in the rattle.
Hi kenan
The rattle on snake 2 was considerably longer - two different snakes :) Thanks, Kenan. This was great. And please, put the camera down next time. We can watch from a ground view
Definitely two different snakes. I'm sure you're right about them being flushed out by people working clearing the non-native plants
Awesome rescue, man.. keep one foot on the hook whilst handling the knots. One extra safety step. (Pun intended) 😂.. what's the possibility that those were 2 males looking for the female..
Maybe consider a 5 gallon bucket with a lid.
that works too
should include captions when you’re talking over the rattle so closely, can barely hear you with how loud they are
I forgot you were colorblind, Kenan...yes, they are two different snakes. The first snake had a distinctly darker coloration to it. The second is a little brighter, but both are gorgeous animals!
he is ok
Solid video
They look like different snakes. 😅 So cool! Great work.
Wow Great Job Kenan i would be so scared to go near those snakes .. so scared of any snakes lol thanks so very much..
Unless snakes have learnt to fly I'd say that's a different snake 😂
Unless it’s Quetzalcoatl, the flying serpent god of the Aztecs…
Sony ZV-E10?
After you tie off the bag (by folding the top over itself then tieing it off), then use a zip tie! The best way to secure a bag is to use a sturdy zip tie.
Of course I prefer to use a secure snake bucket.
Safety above all Kenan.
Oh, Oh, Oh....Jen.....So, let me get this straight and also correct.....Give me a second here to understand this, I'm no detective Monk. You, you say........So, one second...... So it was You and You alone... admitting this on Kamp Kenan's UA-cam channel affirmatively..........Fair enough.....That it was You: And, You agree...we've talked about this, right, that indeed: It was you, Who:
Let the Dogs Out. Now we know.
:)
So… Jen is a member of “Baha Men?”
*Who? Who? Who? Who…*
It’s interesting that the second one wasn’t tongue flicking at all.
Kenan really needs to get a body/shoulder strap for his GoPro and phone so he can record and work with both hands
Good job, Ken🐍🐢🦂🦎
Thanks!
Most of the rattlesnakes I have worked with were usually pretty well behaved. The first venomous I kept was an Arizona black tailed , great snake
Did a side by side and First one was much darker for sure two different snakes.
😊❤
Definitely two different snakes. First rattlesnake is darker in color. Second had a larger rattle. Last but not least, the white stripe pattern on the heads are different.
Feels like it's been a long time since we got a rescue video... not sure if that's good or bad... Hopefully it means less interactions and not more just people killing them
Yes Tall Traveler. I think people are slowly beginning to learn more and more about reptiles!
@KampKenan I sure hope so! I always try to share information when people start to talk nonsense about wildlife, especially reptiles cuz as we all know they are way too misrepresented
So nice of them to give us a warning signal it sounds frightening to me
Not surprised the woman first thought the sound was a cicada. This year all species of cicada (7 year and 12 year) are due to emerge on the east coast! Prepare for a noisy cicada overload.
@@The_Crucible714 Is it like the old classic black and white cowboy movies or were they frogs you always hear a noise in the back round ?
@@braddbradd5671
Cicadas actually sound a lot like the rattlesnake’s rattle although their buzzing isn’t sustained as long and each species has a slight variation. To my knowledge all North American cicadas are strictly diurnal (daytime) and they definitely don’t sound like frogs or crickets. Their “singing” always reminds me of the hottest days of summer.
Jen lowkey picks them up on her way home to spend some time w you.
😂
What type of rattlesnake is it????
Eastern Diamondback
Second snake was older. longer rattler and not as dark.
Is their first strike usually a dry strike ?
It’s not guaranteed, though most people who get bitten hope so!
@The_Crucible714 I have timber rattlers and pygmy rattlers where I am and we've noticed that unless they're stepped on their first strike seems to be a bluff or dry strike . They just want you to go and hit you hard with their nose. The next if there is one is the real deal. Now if you step on them it's the real deal.
@@FatKidBrody
They don’t want to waste their venom needlessly. I still wouldn’t want to test that theory though. lol
Good job!!!!!!!👍🏼👍🏼
So ... He's alive (for those who see the short) XD
Thanks LOL
Count the number of rings on the rattle, the second snake is older.
Actually that's not true because once the rattle gets long enough it naturally falls off and the snake regrows a new one over time
@@kallazardrakul666 I didn't know that. Thank you for letting me know.
@@Danigys no problem. I watch Kenan and Snake Discovery, and Chandler's wildlife that's how I know that
Ooh WOW 😲😲 scary 😧
The previous snake was darker especially the rattle and yes the rattle is larger
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Nicely done Kenan!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The 2nd snake rattler is bigger. It’s definitely a different snake.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
are rattle snakes native to this area?
They are different
Good job! 🔥🐍🐍
The rattle is definitely bigger
Definitely different snakes
It's a different snake Kenan. It's a lighter color pattern.
yea the raddle is alot bigger
So cool
No the color is lighter and face strips r way different…great job
I have a tortoise that needs your rescue/help please. Dont know what to do with her or how to get ahold of help.
very different face markings
Smash that like button
"Kenan listen to my rattle. Did yOu hear it? Listen to my rattle Kenan. LISTEN TO MY RATTLE >:DDD"
:)
Kenan, are you licensed to do any python hunting? Can you comment on whether you have any personal issues with python hunting. I Ask because I know you are a lover of all reptiles invasive or otherwise.
not licensed to python hunt, but also understand the need for it
Somehow I don’t see Kenan euthanizing reptiles, invasive or otherwise. Remember the “curlytail squad?”
@@The_Crucible714 I agree
R.I.P. camera 😂😂
LOL
Two different snakes. The rattle on the second snake was twice as long.
why doesn’t the snake strike? you’re so close to it and keep moving towards it
The rattle looks far bigger on the second snake in my opinion.
Yep!
You handled the snakes like a pro. ( that u are ) If it would have been Chandler he would have made a mockery and acted a fool and probably grabbed it with his hands so good for you excellent job
Yeah, except not. And why even bring Chandler up? Weirdo
@@clark2491 I see you like to call people names I think you have to reevaluate yourself LOL 🤣🤣
@@heatherwinslett81 I see you're the type to bring peoples names into things, that have nothing to do with them. Reevaluate yourself, weirdo
