Tom is like a walking reptile encyclopedia and such a nice person on top of it, love to see him on the channel. Great to see the little rackers got a great new home at Tom and you got 2 beautiful little babies in return!
Oh this is SO exciting ! You will be keeping a critically endangered population thriving and multiplying ... and they are SO beautiful. I am really looking forward to learning about these Burmese Stars ! Kenan, this is exactly the uplifting news I needed today . Bless Kamp Kenan !
Heyy Kenan,Mi husband n i r big fans,We watch yu all the time,Love all ur videos n all ur animals anyways lots of love from ontario, canada P.S we all miss matt 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 for the two new turtles heres two names star and spot
I remember you talking about wanting to try to get a few Burmese’s torty’s many many moons ago. Trust Tom to be able to make your dream come true. They are such beautiful torty’s Huge congratulations Kenan, I have a feeling that Sophia will adore them 🤗🐢🤗
You can always add dead pine needles and leaf litter to add to the mulch if you need it Pomfrenne's broad leaves pine needles that all work well in that With them with as mulch eriod and you could add some springtails and some isopods and that will help clean up any of the poop and Whatnot in an ice organic way
Species like Leopard Tortoises & Indian Stars (the species Kenan had) often get respiratory infections from the high humidity of Florida. My brother found that out about 20 years ago. I’ve had his pair of Indian Stars (pneumonia-free) since then. The female laid eggs for the first time last year. After a period of diapause 2 babies out of 3 eggs hatched successfully.
I love it when you go down to Tom's, but this time was extra special. 🎉 Congratulations on your new babies. They are beautiful, and I look forward to watching them grow. For names, how about Donnie and Leo.... Short for Donatello and Leonardo? A little nod to TMNT and for your Leo. Sophia had a namesake after all... perhaps its Leo's turn?!?!? Just sayin' ... 😊💜
Whenever I think of baby turtles/tortoises I remember the first Rocky movie. He was always hanging out at the pet shop because he had a crush on Adrian when she worked there. Rocky bought a pair of baby turtles and named them Cuff and Link.
BOAS! Those are such awesome species. Chilanbothrus is so underappreciated and discussed. The Dominican Red Mountain Boa is pretty popular but otherwise they are pretty rare in captivity so its always cool to see Toms boas, West Indian or otherwise honestly. He has some awesome localities/species. Cuban boa in particular obv (they remind me of Sanzinia but bigger). Also, Richard Branson does conservation work for the Burmese Star Torts lol. Fun fact i guess. The babies are adorable!
Great trade! Those are beautiful lil Burmese Star Tortoises. So neat that you got to see the Burmese Mountain Tortoise too! Will be interesting to see how the lewisi do over at Tom Crutchfield's!
Great video again! Beautiful little tortoises. Kenan, do you still keep in touch with Matt? It was great seeing him develop a relationship with your animals, especially Slinky!
I would love to have a couple of Burmese. I have two Indian stars. I’m raising from hatchlings they’re now a year old and a few months, but the Burmese is on my bucket list along with the radiated tortoise. Right now I have two desert tortoises from our local zoo three Russian tortoises 2.1 And of course, my baby Indian stars they’re my pride since I have raised them since they’ve came out of the egg so excited for you to get the Burmese
Would be interested to hear you talk with Tom and others about the work being done to establish breeding programs, insurance colonies and reintroduction plans.
I spearheaded a successful breeding/reintroduction program (Blandings, Spotted, Eastern Box & NA Wood Turtles) in North Jersey with a buddy years ago. I also spent several summers involved in a field study monitoring & radio tracking Diamondback Terrapins in NY’s Jamaica Bay. Hofstra U’s Dr Russel Burke got me involved in these rewarding programs, he reminds me of Tom… “The Reptile Whisperer.”
Kenan, I’ve been watching your channel (and subscribing) for I think six years now and I don’t recall you ever mentioning how you take care of the waste management for your animals. (Poop patrol) Perhaps you could do a video on that one day or just work it into one of your videos as a small aside. Thx for such great content.
I have a Burmese star tortoise and now 6 years old. He's very outgoing and loves Hibiscus leaves. Perfect for Central/South Florida. I also have an Elongated tortoise, which is an awesome species.
we mess Matt too the next time you see him tell him we all said hi please and you know he can always come visit he doesn't have to help you but he can just come visit and maybe hold the camera once in a while.
So wonderful I so miss ss my box turtles I had as a young adult in the 70's and we released them to my folks yard which they would visit the neighborhood as time went on we would get sightings from neighbors and my folks would let me know when they where in the yard. I was raised in Southern California so they thrived there. My folks are both in heaven now so I don't know if they pair is even alive anymore. Not even sure how big or long box turtles live. They where named after the TV cartoon characters. Speedy Gonzales the rodent with lighting speed. And Pokey Gumby's orange horse.
@22:20 Cute-sized but even at this size they LOOK grouchy! The only tortoise or turtle that truly looks happy is that Aldabra who likes hanging out with Kenan. Even that female sulcata has knocked Kenan onto his butt! Sulcatas, even the "friendly ones," always seem to have an attitude! I'm amazed there are dogs that want to be friends with captive sulcatas... Name suggestions for the Burmese Star Tortoises -- Speed and Trixie. From the animated series, "Speed Racer." Alternatively, Pops, Spridle, and Chim-Chim. Also from "Speed Racer"!
Hey Ken I have an idea for names for the two tortoises they're both star tortoises from Burma so why don't you call one of them astrom which means* and the other one you should call ostara Which means springtime. How do those sound for names.
I bred my Cuban’s about 20 years ago. It sucked I had to see all my snakes since my work had me traveling so much. Other than their musking, they are so docile.
Such lil cuties! And nice big healthy everything else at Tom's! I love that they love Bella so much, really shows they care for the animals.
Thank you Tom and your wife for sharing with Kenan. Everyone needs to help any way they can support to animals in our world.

Tom’s collection is always exciting. I think that you need Cuban boas now.
Congratulations, in my opinion it is the most beautiful tortoise species. They will thrive in your facility!

Yep this was a big deal for us!
Wow, finally got the crazy iguanas a new home, and with Tom is a perfect place.
The Burmese Stars are beautiful! Gonna be a fun species to watch grow
Tom is always beaten, bit, brused, bleeding, and bandaged. And yet, he still keeps on going. What a man's man.
Whoa! We haven’t been getting notifications for your channel for a while I just realized! Awesome video!
those are lovely Cuban snakes, so chill and pretty. They really seem to have great personalities.

So excited to have them finally
Beautiful
Awesome tortoise to start a group and help the population grow. I❤Them!
There are more Star Tortoises in captivity now than in the wild. Pretty sad actually.
SOOOOOOOO CUTE!! Also if you need a name it would be cute to have a ben and jerry

This was certainly special. I like the Leo naming idea!
Perhaps Kate should name them since she loves keeping reptiles indoors, she said so in the bearded dragon video…

If anyone can it's her!
Ringo Star for one of them?
Hi Kenan, they are beautiful 🐢, how does Star Bright sound ? Anyway, I am sure you will find the correct name . How is the breaded dragon doing ? ❤
Your man Tom has been in the wars!
Or he got Stacy mad and she went all “croc monitor” on him.
Nice video, hiope that I can have this life some day ❤
Start working toward it one step at a time! You can do it!
The Burmese Star really needs more protection. Thank you all for doing this🎉 ❤ I'm looking forward to see them on your channel.
Cute little guys. Of all the animals I wish we could get in Australia, tortoises have to be no1.
we mess Matt too the next time you see him tell him we all said hi please and you know he can always come visit he doesn't have to help you but he can just come visit and maybe hold the camera once in a while.
Hi I have a question I have a horsfield tortoise and I’ll be traveling around 15-16 hours how should and what should I prepare for him?
