I wouldn't have never believed it, if I didn't try this mad Mike and team.. y'all saved me over 4 hundred dollars for dual batteries for my F350..thank you Very! Very! Much my friend....👍👍
Our pleasure to help William!! This is GREAT to hear! It works! We have done this for years and years and have batteries like the energizer bunny, they just keep going, and going, and going :) Thanks so much for watching and sharing your stupendous results, we truly appreciate it, hope you have a sweeeeet rest of your week my friend. mad Mike & team
Hey Mike. I finally had the chance to do this for the first time, a few weeks ago. Because my own batteries are AGM's I had to wait for a dead lead acid battery. My father-in-law's one died and I used your method. And it works again. It's a great tip. Have a great week. Dutch regards, Nico.
Great to hear Nico!! Thank you so much for watching and sharing your results my friend, that's awesome, great work! Have a stupendous week! mad Mike the hammer SPC & team
hows the battery now ?
I saw black water coming out, what does that mean?
Are you saying we can't do this with AGM batteries?
That are wearing of positive plats debries. @@daren99
I remember de-gassing lead acid batteries back in HS in auto shop (that's what we called it). I never knew the maintenance-free batteries could be opened up like that. Thanks. 👍
Me too Carl, this is a lost art for sure, can't sell new ones if you are maintaining your used ones :) Thank you for watching and sharing, we appreciate the input my friend, have a great week. mad Mike the hammer SPC
My VW touran's been cranking slow this week and the battery's down to 12.3-12.4V. Saw your other video using a 200A charger & jump starter and was likewise checking out expensive chargers but today I saw this vid and my brain lit up in an eureka moment because I do have a welder in the house, thanks for saving my wallet!
I got the Amico welder you suggest. I’ve had about 25% success with discarded batteries on our farm. I got a meat thermometer at Walmart & put in one of the cells while it’s “boiling”. It’s December & about 40 degrees, but the temp only goes up 10-15 degrees while the battery is bubbling. So the bubbles are not from boiling, but from hydrogen gas being released. (My assumption). However one battery did get hot; thermometer read 160, so I discontinued the process on that battery.
I removed the working batteries from several vehicles & did the 5 minutes x 3. So far it seems to improve those batteries.
I rekin we have more than 75 batteries on the farm & in family vehicles, so I gotta get this restoration process to work. I’ve tried to restore several big group 31 batteries to put in our Kawasaki wheel loader. I got one up to 13+volts & 1200 CCA, but wouldn’t crank the big diesel, (which takes 2 in series….24v.) So I had to buy a new NAPA $300 battery yesterday & the other battery in the loader is a basic car battery that did recover. That’s in there temporarily until I can get some bigger battery restored.
I’ve tried 3 truck batteries (with threaded posts). One seems to have a bad cell that barely bubbles….it reads 10.5v. I’ve cooked it at least 10 times & up to 200 Amps. The Amico welder exceeds its duty cycle often & it takes an hour for it to reboot itself. So I only go above 100 amps momentarily.
The other 2 truck batteries will show 13+ volts, but weak on the load meter.
I’m getting weak readings on the hydrometer on most of these batteries I’m trying to restore. So I rekin I’m going to drain & rinse them then add fresh acid/water. I get different info about the acid/water ratio….20% acid to 35% acid.
I will NEVER do this trick with the battery in the vehicle. Acid usually bubbles out.
As you mentioned many times, MAKE SURE THE WELDER IS OFF BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE LEADS. This welder is putting out current even if the amps are set at zero. I already blew up one battery. Now my Salvation Army jacket has holes…. And don’t turn the Amico welder off until the cooling fan stops running.
And this: you guys quit asking the same questions that have already been answered….like can I use my AC welder? If that’s where you’re at, just go buy a new batt & watch boring World Cup.
Thank you for watching and sharing, have a great day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Jump start battery charger also works 225 amp shocks the cells an gets them moving again great video most people don't know about this they just go buy a new battery an their getting more expensive especially in this economy.
Remember to wear safety goggles or preferably a face shield..I'll grind with safety squints but boiling batteries scare the heck out of me....come to think of it I'll retire my squints and just buy a good face shield for grinding too...and thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching and sharing Fatillac Ing, have a great week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Yep, not all maintenance-free batteries are completely sealed, but you won't know until you check. This is a good one you showed. Takes more effort, but sometimes all it needs is some water and a charge, and you are back in business!
Glad you brought out to use distilled water! I keep a couple gallons at work specifically for filling up batteries.
🐺🔧
I've done something similar with the scissor aerial lift at work; the operators kept trying to charge the lift. But it wouldn't work once the charger was unplugged. Batteries would have to be ordered, about two weeks out. The inspector that they scheduled was slated to come in the next day. Honestly, they had tried to charge the batteries so much that they were very hot when I got it, I'm sure their lifespan had been compromised, but I figured I give it a go anyway. Either it would work or not, right?
I pulled out all four batteries, refilled the batteries, and was able to get three out of the four batteries amperage back up using the large battery charger. The fourth battery was a little on the low side for CCA, but the voltage returned. Put all four batteries back in after the initial charge on each one, then I let the onboard charger finish the battery charging overnight. Facilities were happy the lift was operational when the inspector came to do the bay doors the following day.
As far as I know, those batteries are still in the lift! 😆

Suuuuuuuuuulfer!!!🤣HEY Hammer👋!!! I remember the video that you did with the car batteries, let me ask you a question, the battery in my Honda ATV has the holes for acid, ik coz I filled them, will this work on that battery it's been dead probably two years now. It's a smaller battery but is 12v just wondering. Hammer and Mrs. Hammer, y'all have a marvelous week my good friends!!! Much Love and Respect Brother 🙏 Be Safe and Be Blessed! 🕊🕊🕊 Jay.
Hey Jay!! :) This process works on any lead acid battery, give it a shot on that dead one, we've revived batteries that sat for years with this method. It's always a pleasure, take care my friend. Blessings, mad Mike the hammer SPC
Will any inverter welding machine work or is there a particular model that will work?
Excellent video. And, it is ALWAYS a good day when we hear from Hoolio!

Yeah some of our lead acid don't have those holes, have a big square top that looks removable. But with some prying seems tight.
The big square top makes it easy. Pry it up and expose the holes
You have to have access to the cells to do this process Jaguar. Thanks for watching, have a great week and all the best on your project my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Thanks so much friendo! The welder was cheaper than a battery, so why not? I've got one cell that's being slow to come up. It boils. but slower to start than all the rest. I've got a thermal imager and I can see that the bottom of the one cell is colder than the rest of the battery, but I think I'm getting it, the cool spot is gradually getting smaller
Glad to hear Big Farm-ah!! Thank you for watching and sharing your results, keep up the good work my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
@@SweetProjectCars That one cell never got as warm as the others, but she fired right up after sitting in cool rainy weather and not running in weeks. It's even pricier than those welders Mike recommended.
Your battery maintenance / rejuvenation procedure is definitely a money saver. Probably worth it if you just buy the welder for that only and never do any welding.
For sure Leonard, purchasing the welder just for the battery rejuvenation would pay off without any welding, but why not give welding a shot too :) Thanks for watching my friend, hope you have a great week. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Does it have to be the 200 amp welder? If yes can you use anything that outputs 200A
Heading out to buy a welder to recycle the 6 batteries I have sitting my garage.
How did you get on? Still running good?
Does this work better than the high amp battery charger method you showed us awhile back?
Yes it does, Demsare, it's a far better process and is way more economical. Thank you for watching and asking, hope you have a great week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
honda atv 2000 foreman with sealed battery always kept a charge if used. If sat a long while a jump and driving it made it good or trickle charging. Parents sold in 2016 when moving and it had 2400 miles on it and original battery and tires. Never de-solfed the battery.

Can you provide what features of the stick welders that you're recommending are responsible working with a deep cycle battery vs. a regular battery? For example, is there a certain type of mode that works best for a deep cycle?....and same question for the regular battery. Also, some of these welders can function at 110V vs 220V......is 220V connection required? Your instructing to turn up the amps until the electrolyte boils....but what is the common/typical maximum setting that you've used?
Use either of these welders, for standard battery use amzn.to/2K1UsWQ or deep cycle use amzn.to/3yW4ihK Please re-watch, then watch the video again in its entirety, this process needs to be followed to a T, you start out on the lowest setting of the welder then gradually turn it up until you get a rapid boil on all cells then follow the video instruction Matrix. Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Some don't have caps and you have to drill the holes. Just be careful to put a depth stop on the drill, otherwise you'll drill through plates and ruin the battery. You can then tape the holes over with some rubber glove material and duct tape.
Thanks for watching and sharing, have a great weekend. mad Mike
Is that safe though
I've looked cheapest I've found is 120 I need to try it on my big cat batteries to replace them it costs 140 $ I've got 4 of them
This is exactly what you need to do Douglas, follow the video and use the same exact tools shown in the ....more of the video description, think of the savings for you, your friends, neighbors, family, co-workers etc. Thank you for watching and sharing, have a great week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
How did you get on?
The "Boiling" is just to mix the water and acid back to being Homogeneous, Right ? A Normal Battery Charger
would do this, but take a lot longer.
What does the welder do? And what amps are a welder put/or should put out?
Please re-watch the video in it's entirety, and listen carefully. It's pretty specific in it's instruction. Also, see these videos ua-cam.com/video/LMulvB6TtQA/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/1z_f2Wen_UI/v-deo.html they have a lot of helpful information about this method. Thanks. mad Mike & team
in one of you other videos you where using a 200amp engine start charger with a car battery can you use this welder with a bigger battery and you where letting it set a hour. so do smaller sit less and bigger battery longer rest in between
Resting times are the same unless you are doing a motorcycle battery or something comparable then all the timelines should be cut in half for that size. Hope this helps richard, thanks for the view, have a great week. mad Mike the hammer SPC
It would be great if you could explain what the concern is with needing separate welders for reg/deep cycle batteries. Especially when many of us already have welders and will probably try it anyway. Maybe at least explain the concern with deep cycle. Thanks!
We don't have a concern it's what we know works in our over 50+ years in the industry. Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Interesting video, I always thought that fast charging a battery decreases it's life span and it's best to trickle charge it. I use a Pulsetech PowerPulse passive desulfator on my BMW battery, I have used it three years and have no issue's with starting the car even though I drive about 25 miles a week. I'd like to see you test one long term on one of your sulfated batteries, and make a video on it.
I got a new mower battery last year but, before I bought it I charged the old one until it could no longer take a charge,I mean after it sit through the winter, and then I used my jumper to jump it,I should have done that with the first 2 batteries.
Nice! Thank you for watching and sharing Mark, we really appreciate it, have a great week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Hey Mike I didn't see where or what increments you turn up the welder. I heard the beginning at 50. But where do you end at on the 3rd cycle? Thanks. Good work!!! How you come up with all this, must've been a lot of trial and error.

Since I don't have a welder, I use the other method you have a video on using a charger set on "start" which makes the battery boil also. However, not quite as good a a welder will do but I figure it's better than nothing. Have you ever used the welder method on a battery that tested bad and then tested the battery again, and if so what was the outcome?

Mike I’ve had the same issues as Albert Yowell has been having. About 25% success rate using the Amico welder. I’ve tried 5 on and 10 off 3 times and 4 times. I put only enough amps to get it bubbling good on all cells. Just did this on my sons battery and it started the vehicle once and then died again. He bought a new battery to solve the problem. Any suggestions? More amps? Maybe enough to get the battery warm on the outside? Please answer these questions, as I’m sure others are having the same issues. I would like to help myself and Albert Yowell. You could really save him a LOT of $$$. Thanks man!
You want to do it at least 5 times. Crank up the amps enough that it is spattering a little bit of fluid out on top of the battery *it should be rolling pretty good when you do that so make sure you do it in a well ventilated area. If it doesn't work after that, your battery is toast my friend. Hope this helps, thanks for watching and asking, have a great week and all the best on your project my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Hello Mike. Wishing you a happy new year from Bulgaria. The contents of your battery vids have seriously impressed me, so much so that I think that this could be a business idea for Bulgaria. A population with relatively little disposable income, inflation, energy crisis and more issues than I would care to mention, this is something that the country could really use! The obvious environmental benefits are the icing on the cake.
I do have one very important question. If this was done on a commercial basis then I would very much like to give the clients a guarantee on the reconditioned product. With how many months would you feel comfortable giving? 6, 12 or 18 Months?
Please keep the great work going and hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks.

and how will the adjustment on the welder be?
Try the process shown in the video first, it should work as long as it's a lead acid battery. Thanks for watching and asking, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Question for anyone: Is the only difference between the "CHARGER" & "Welder" method the time interval? I have a six year old COSTCO battery that's just starting to show signs of replacement (slow cranking if the car isn't driven or charged in two days, longer than two days it needs a jump). I would love to try one of these methods to hopefully renew the battery. I don't have a welder but I do have a good charger so if the only difference is time I'll just use my charger.
In order for this process to work, your charger needs to be as powerful as this one amzn.to/2Ee8Gkb If it's not, then we suggest using the welder method. But if you want to know which method is better, not just timelines, it's this video with the welder. Hope this helps, thank you for watching and asking TopGun, have a great weekend my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

A before and after voltage test, would help to provide proof. JS
how about AGM batteries?
This works on all lead acid batteries. Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike
Great video!!!! Tried it on my truck battery and worked great. I want to do it to my bmw batteries but I can’t figure out how to remove the cell caps. They won’t come out using a screw driver. Not sure if they are twist if so I will need a tool to remove them.
If there's a slot in them, take a quarter and clamp on to it with these amzn.to/3pffWEl then twist them out, if they just spin and don't move up you will have to pry them out. If you're not sure at all, send us a pic to sweetprojectcars@gmail.com and I will tell you exactly what type they are. Thank you for watching and sharing, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Can you use a battery charger
Hello Joe, you can use whatever you want to use my friend, we are simply showing what we know works and is safe for both you and your batteries. Thanks for watching and asking, have a great week. mad Mike & team
Hi there I was just wondering if doing that with a welder is better than doing it with a battery charger that you showed in one of your previous videos?
It's our update to this method, it does work better and is way more economical if you don't have a charger sitting around Ryan. Thanks for watching and asking, have a fantastic week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Good information! Can you use Epsom salt with this process?
You can do whatever you want to do KeithC, we are just sharing the simplest, most economical way to do this that we know works. Thanks for the view, hope you have a great week. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Can someone use a battery charger? And make the cells boil?
No, those don't have the knock out punch required to wake up the cells of a dead or almost dead battery. Just follow the video instruction and be sure to use the same tools shown. Thanks. mad Mike & team
I have tried this with my battery charger with 200amp start feature, and it would not bring my batteries back. They bubbled and everything, but will not hold a load
If you're not using the exact same tools we show, don't expect it to work, sorry. Be sure to watch our update to this method here ua-cam.com/video/LMulvB6TtQA/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/1z_f2Wen_UI/v-deo.html
it works way better and is far more economical if you don't have the required charger shown. Thanks for watching and asking, have a great day. mad Mike & team
@SweetProjectCars can I get a free sample of the Lubricant that you mentioned in the new video? Also do you suggest going with a 180 or 200 on the welder for the batteries?

As soon as I clamped negative to the battery post my stick welder began smoking. It wasn't even plugged in. Now I'm afraid to even turn it on. What did I do wrong?
Sounds like you are using a stick welder you've had for a while. This video is tool & procedure SPECIFIC. In order for this to work you need to use the EXACT products/tools we share in the video description. mad Mike & team
I've followed the procedure for cleaning the inside the battery twice so far but every time I tip the mix out there is more to be cleaned am I wasting my time with this battery
I just take mine in before warranty up
You can do whatever your heart desires Sun99% :) Thanks for watching, have a great week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Can u do this to all batteries like 4 wheeler battery all lead acid batteries
You sure can Jason, any lead acid battery can be done, just cut the timelines in half for that size battery. Thanks for watching, have a great weekend my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
How long do these last after this?
We've got batteries that are 20 years old that we do this process to again and again. Thanks for watching, have a great week. mad Mike & team
Does it need to be a modern switchmode welder? Can I use an older mains frequency (larger heavier coil) type stick welder?
i would suggest that before you try that, make sure the welder output is DC
Please follow the video to a T, there is no other alternative, use the exact same tools, products and method, we've spent years perfecting this process. It works flawlessly every single time using either of these welders for standard battery amzn.to/2K1UsWQ or deep cycle amzn.to/3yW4ihK Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
@@SweetProjectCars Thanks MIke.
@@darrenhoffmann7114 You are correct. A bridge rectifier would have to be used.
Have you ever had one that boiled real good on two of the six holes and barely bubbled into the others and not at all and two of the other holes if so was the battery worth trying to save his battery was working fine six months ago and it has set for 6 months now sudden it won't take
Yes, but you can do this entire process up to 5 times if all of the cells don't boil after that, your battery is toast my friend. Thanks for watching and asking, hope this helps, have a great week and all the best on your project. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Why a welder, versus one of those shop
heavy duty battery charger? Thanks in advance
because some people already have welders at home.
You can do either Monica, but this method is far more economical and we have had better results with the welders. Thanks for watching and asking, have a great week my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Great video. Can this be done with solar batteries?
