- As PMQs resumes following the Easter break, James O'Brien is joined by LBC's political editor Natasha Clark for the analysis.
'Keir Starmer has discovered his funny bones.'
'After a couple of weeks off that everyone is a bit more fired up.'
'It's clear Keir Starmer is enjoying being the leader of the Opposition, he enjoys these PMQs.'
'They are expecting to win the next election.'
'There is definitely more confidence and humanity coming from Keir Starmer now.'
'It does resonate with voters, 'you've said you want to cut national insurance and how are you going to fund it'.'
'We know that Labour want to fight on the issue of being credible on the economy.'
'It's a sort of preemptive manifesto undermining.'
'The PM is thinking 'the longer we leave it the more we can distance ourselves from Liz Truss'.'
'Both of them have had their Weetabix again.'
'The SNP are in a similar position to the Conservatives.'
'The things that Rishi Sunak wanted to highlight today, taxes, inflation is down...is it moving the polls Prime Minister? Of course it's not.'
'Despair is setting in, a lot of Cabinet ministers are realising that the dial is just not shifting.'
'If she is found to have broken some rules, they are taking a big gamble.'

I don't understand why Starmer doesn't bring up Sunak's support of Boris Johnson when Sunak presses the Corbyn button... He was Johnson's Chancellor and they were both fined for breaking laws that they made under Johnson.
Yeah I always think the same. The difference is Corbyn had zero power so can’t be held accountable for anything wrong with the country whereas Johnson…
Perfect opportunity to remind the public that Inaction man and Spaffer were given two FPN.
I wonder if it's because Johnson is still a controversial figure (as opposed to Truss who is accepted as totally nuts), and there's concern that Boris still resonates with some supporters. I suspect Boris is more popular than we'd like to think.
Forgive me if i don't give her analysis much credit if she thinks that Scotland had a vote 10 years ago and should move on.
Exactly … utterly hopeless
Similarly with ‘Brexit’, she clearly doesn’t shop in Sainsbury’s.
Or that £46 billion is a one off that can be done gradually.
It is an annual figure, so £46 billion every year.

Natasha Clark proving that shes no Theo Usherwood by flippantly dismissing Scottish independence and leaving the EU 🤦🏽♂️ very disappointing and shortsighted
Really miss Theo Usherhood.
I think she is quite sweet though 😅
Once a Murdoch hack always a Murdoch hack.
George Galloway asked a perfectly reasonable question in a suitably parliamentary manner and Sunak answered a completely different question in a dismissive manner, insulting every voter in the country, regardless of their personal prejudices or biases. Surely the speaker can pull him up and insist he answers the question actually asked? I know he won't but he does have that power.
That last Labour manifesto was, in fact fully costed.
The issue with Natasha's stance on a new Scottish referendum is that the previous one was held 2 years before the Brexit referendum, something Scotland voted overwhelmingly against. Scotland were tricked into and are now being forced into a position they don't want to be in. Had they known there would be a Brexit vote, it looks statistically likely that they would have voted for independence in 2014. I would suggest that democracy is an ongoing conversation, not something that happens and then that's that. Otherwise, why do we have general elections every 5 years.
I cannot remember Labour releasing an uncosted manifesto
They didn't. Natasha is merely regurgitating the lies of her Tory masters.
The last Scottish Independence referendum was a decade ago. Nobody under the age of 26 has had a chance to voice their opinion. Democracy is not a one off decision.
The issue there is how often & does it just keep going and going until independence is achieved & then what?
Every decade for a referendum seems far too frequent & unfair on those who chose to stay in the UK.
@@Serpsss And will we then have a referendum every 10 years on whether or not Scotland should rejoin?
@@SerpsssIn the past 5 years we've had 3 prime ministers, a global pandemic, a war in Russia and in Palestine. 10 years is double that, I think every 10 years is a perfectly acceptable time to ask again if the country wants another chance at independence, especially if the largest group of MP's are called the Scottish Independence Party.
The issue isn't timing, the issue is that over the last decade and especially with Brexit it's clear that the Scottish people do not have proper representation in Westminster, again shown when Labour took one of our 3 opposition days to move their own agenda. The majority of the whole country voted NO to Brexit but because of this broken union our countries choice was ignored. Given the massive changes in Uk politics over the last decade I think we are well due another choice. Preferably one that is free from the Uk government and the media machine spreading misinformation about the situation Scotland would be in post independence such as what happened the first time round.
@gordonmackenzie4512, My taxes are high enough thanks under this SNP government without having our share of the national debt placed on the Scottish people, also I dread to think how far the SNP would go unleashed especially after the lovely new law just passed taking away peoples freedom of speech, well I should have said SOME peoples freedom of speech.
Theo left some big boots to fill. I think Natasha would do better teaming up with Keunsberg on a Sunday. Henry Riley would do a much better job…

Labours manifesto was fully costed in 2017 and 2019, what is she talking about.
@aceloves And zero inflation since then?
Tory HQ talking points. That's what.
Wow, brazen lies about the 2019 manifesto. It was fully costed.
Natasha whatever her name is clearly knows nothing of Scotland or Scotlands politics. Dismissive and overtly arrogant and wrong. The people of Scotland are a lot more canny than she seems to think. The SNP will win handsomely in the GE. Also Scotland had a referendum 10 years ago. Scotland has a right to revisit its place in this so called union of “equals” if it chooses. Moving on!
As written into the Edinburgh Agreement
@amy Too canny to vote for independence...sadly.
She's still young and relatively inexperienced. Here's hoping she picks up more 'lived' knowledge about such matters in the years to come in her career. She appears fairly bright...but obviously still has a lot to absorb.
J O B's likening of Sunak in PMQs to a zoo animal chucking its faeces at the wall is spot-on.
@dwd You write his material then?
@@chatham43 I wish - I'll take that as a compliment. Ta!
Well to be fair, Labour tarring the Tories with Liz Truss is a lot more relevant considering she was put in charge of the country, as a direct result of people voting for the Conservatives.
There have been several general elections already since Corbyn was party leader for Labour, the public have already had a chance to show what they think of him. They haven't been given a chance to show their dismay with Boris and Liz Truss's performance yet...
Well said
Natasha definitely wants to talk about Stephen Flynn because he attacks Labour. Awful replacement for the great Theo Usherwood.
PMQ's is a total waste of time
It’s closer to a football match or a rap battle then a parliamentary debate

They're all acting like 7 year olds children in a playground...
Disgusting.....
They even have holidays as long as school kids
I saw two older boys (maybe 8-10) playing on a swing at my nephews school.
Three younger boys approached them.
Couldnt make out what was said, but one of the older boys got off the swing, picked up one of the younger boys and placed him carefully on the swing and proceeded to push him gently for about 3 minutes, lifted him down and selected one ofthe other boys, put him on the swing and did the same... Until the bell sounded.
Calling these politicians CHILDREN is disrespectul to children, children treat eachother with respect and decency... If that is what they are taught to do.
Kids act better than this.
tbf, Sunak claims to speak for the entire British population as well. "Can we have a General Election?" A: "The public don't want that."
Never voted to be pm. He has little experience in politics. He is as bad as Johnson, we need a GE.
Since when was the 2019 Labour manifesto uncosted - these guys just can't help themselves.

Natasha isn't really the best at this, is she?
Her pro-Tory bias (she's a Murdoch puppet) shines through in these post-PMQ's chats.
Sunak is a 6th form schoolboy.
With his wee brother’s trousers
Commenter talks about sunak telling people what scottish want, then does so herself. Scottish independance should be left to the people who live on that territory. I don't speak for the people of London or what they should do. why does she think she can for us.
The Scottish have rejected independence. And no opinion polls have shown that decision has changed.
I agree...Natasha Clark is in no place to being anywhere near an expert about Scotland and what Scottish people want. I hope she isn't getting a bit too big for her boots - she appears to have potential (despite not being that experienced...in terms of age).
@@MiningForPies You had better check those opinion polls because they have shown a consistent rise on support for Scottish independence. Recent polling has shown that independence now has the support of between 51 & 54% in favour.

Its so funny how Sunak who thanks to loopholes in the last budget has saved himself over 200 million in taxes pretending anyone beyond the daily mail cares about Rayners Tax mistake.
The fact that Scotland voted BEFORE Brexit totally undermines this "analyst".
Scotland voted to remain in the EU twice at the time of asking, in 2014 and 2016.

@sanchez And not a jury in the country would convict you!
So the political editor thinks Scotland should "just move on" irrespective of the fact that the SNP have won several mandates to hold a referendum or that Scotland voted 62% to remain in the European Union. I am rather disappointed that James did not intervene after she made the remark after praising Stephen Flynn's questions at PMQs.
MPs chose Sunak (with Truss as a second choice). Party members then chose Truss.
All of those Tory MPs votes for Truss' mini kamikwasi budget
George Galloway, the only honourable member with a pertinent question that needed an answer!
PMQs just gets worse every week.
@ThomasKing And that's why you continue to watch every week?
I have unsigned copy …but it’s not for sale. As for PMQs Sunak is going full Goebels, tell a lie(s) often enough and it becomes the truth
Sorry but her opinion just doesn't matter for our independence. Funny how she criticises Sunak for telling the Scots what we want then does it herself. Most SNP supporters want Humza gone, nothing to do with Sturgeon getting set up by the police. Digging up someone's garden then saying they found nothing, bring no charge, but she's still sus? ok
Don't care if their funny, or point scoring retorts, just run rhe country in a competent manner. Its just a re-run of Eton lunch hall.
Who is she? She's absolutely off her trolley if she thinks Starmer is a statesman, he's as much a liar as the Tories are.
Why doesn't Sunak answer any questions?
Because he's lost interest in being PM.
Johnson also never answered any questions and he loved being in power
The sessions would be revolutionised if the Speaker simply said, "answer the question".
Scotland has to get out of this madhouse asap
@robert You're all talk.😊
Cuts to N.I. are of no benefit whatsoever to pensioners. And any increase to the state pension is seriously watered down by the freezing of personal allowances until 2028.
Simple point of logic - you can say "We've had a Brexit referendum, let's move on", but if Brexit has been a disaster surely we should act to change it? Why should a country condemn itself to permanent misery?
Each week the LBC Political Editor demonstrates that she’s never left the Sun with her lamentable standard of judgement. Natasha Clark doesn’t come close to emulating Theo Usherwood.
Also, why does Natasha think she gets a say in another referendum vote? Is she Scottish? If she is, I didn’t know.
If she isn’t, it’s not for her to decide let alone vote on…
What is Natasha talking about? 2:09 … the Labour front bench are not complacent and are working really hard to earn every vote. They’re not being arrogant at all
The drip by drip Thatcherite pawning of our silver.
No one cares what you think about another independence referendum Natasha. The arrogance!
Oof, I usually like Natasha. But the 'we've had a vote, time to move on line' is really weak imo. Democracy is democracy. Suppression of it doesn't benefit anyone.
They're never funny. It's the level of 'well you smell like poo'.
Leave mocking politics to comedians. In fact put the comedians in politics and they'll probably stop finding serious topics funny and might actually get serious.

I'm struggling with Natalie Clarke's analyses...we seem to get a lot personal opinions than useful insights. Something for her to work on I hope
Unlike Sunak Jeremy Corbyn has never been prosecuted, found guilty and fined for breaking the law, why isn't Sunak reminded about this.
May Liz Truss' passage never be greased again.
The Tories treat parliament & PMQs in particular, like an Oxbridge debating society!!!
Zionism is rife in both our main parties.
Wow wow wow. Sunik know. Taking the decision of doctor to be farmed out to unqualified pen pushes. We are in trouble.
It's almost impossible to get a police officer to investigate a crime against you but they've got 12 officers investigating Rayner over a possible £1,500 mistake on her tax forms 9 years ago?
Are there written guidelines for PMQs, in terms of questions put, and requirement for PM to actually answer any reasonable question? Or does it rely on 'this is how we've always done it' and the authority, if any, of the Speaker? (Genuine question rather than any party political point!)
I believe we have an unwritten constitution which relies on MP's being respectable and gentlemanly. And then along came Johnson who defiled all that and left our parliament in shame and ruins.
Someone should write up proper rules and regulations for PMQ's so this weekly disaster stops being pointless bickering and starts being useful
We have a dreadful PM and a dreadful leader of the opposition, the election won’t be the utopia that some voters think it will be.
On a declining population and cutting national insurance is diabolical and sheer lunacy ,there is a clear present danger of not having enough people in the workforce to pay pensions to the greater demographic of elderly retired in the population. MADNESS or what ? ?

The only reason I can think to treat referenda as binding for only a decade is stability. The only issue with this is that it is entirely amoral and non-qualitative in its representation of democracy, and could justify literally any regime unchagingly and in perpetuity.
