    Dude thank you. Finally a video simply made, everyone else made it seem like freaking rocket science, I figured it was as simple as this but I’ve never had to wire a relay before. Thanks again!

    yeah.... not correct. pin 30 is main power that will feed 87. pin 85 or 86 (depending on pos or neg switching signal) will get signal from ecm

    Thanks again for helping out. I had someone do my harness and I found a few mistakes at the relay/fuse wiring. Relays were not properly hooked up. Now I need to figure out which wire to tap into at the fuel relay on my foxbody to trigger the pump.

      David, I am just beginning an LS swap into a 92 mustang coupe did you figure out the correct foxbody wire? My motor should be back from machine shop this week and I have a TKO transmission to go into it as well. Wiring is my weak point...

    • @El_5Zero
      @El_5Zero 4 роки тому +1

      @@CouchHam I sure did! The fuel pump relay is under the drivers seat, I removed the seat for more access. I cut the pink with black wire and connected my fuel signal wire from the new harness and it worked great. Car fires up but I dont get throttle response. Tired of going back and forth with the tunner and the guy that did my harness and decided to go with the Holley terminator x Max. We'll see how that works when it arrives.

      The original Taurus, like 89-95 or whatever the years are. That's the style of fan that pulls like 2000 cfm.
      They are found on Lincoln Mark VIII and I pulled mine from a Mercury Villager which has the same style.
      It's a fan, with a decent sized shroud all together.

    I am hoping with a running driving complete Van, I "should" be able to label EVERYTHING COMPLETELY and hopefully not have problems here. Other than conversion to electric fans (where this tutorial is huge) and future AC install etc. Ignorant question, I "assume" the HP tuners etc. will do factory ECM for my fans etc.control? Thanks again.

    I might eventually figure this out just from wiring my LS but if my honda civic electric fan is cycling off and on very often , is that a hardware problem or software? when idling it will come on and off about 15 times a minute. i assume it stays on longer during driving but hard to tell.

      Why would triggering a relay brick your PCM?

    • @jedclampett6466
      @jedclampett6466 5 років тому

      Switched 12V power applied to terminal 30 energizes the coil in the relay thereby applying fused supply power from terminal 85 to output terminal 87.

    87A goes where ?

  • @darkvada3828
    @darkvada3828 5 років тому +1

    All 5 pin relays aren't the same! 30 and 87a are connected when no power is across the coil. When coil is energized 30 connects to 87. Dual 87 relay, no 87a, both 87's are connected to 30 when coil is energized

    • @diduck6878
      @diduck6878 3 роки тому

      I think what he meant is that a 5 pin can be used in place of 4 pin

    • @shop_night
      @shop_night 3 роки тому +2

      I'm looking at a 5 pin relay and in my case
      30 should be supply voltage.
      85 should be pcm 12v + red pin 9
      86 Should be ground
      87 should go to pump

    • @jcnpresser
      @jcnpresser 5 років тому +2

      Yeah by looking at the diagram the relay is always going to be energized if you have constant 12v and ground on the other, on the coil side of the relay, the pcm needs to be wired into the coil side so it can trigger the relay, the whole point for having the relay. The pcm can’t handle high current loads thus the use of the relay.

      Im doing a S10 LS swap and bought the same relays. Your comments were rude but did have me questioning. So about 45 mins ago I used a bunch of alligator clips and a 12v motorcycle battery and multimeter. Hooked it up the exact same way (with the trigger wires being the negative ground on battery) and guess what? It worked! Very well actually. If you fried your computer it was indeed bc someone wasnt smart enough...Next time make sure you know what youre talking about before trying to be a dick
