  • Making boxed Macaroni & Cheese even easier to make for you Use this hack to never have to boil water when making macaroni and cheese again! Throw all your ingredients into the Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker and in about 10 minutes you have perfectly cooked boxed mac n' cheese! Be sure to note there is a different time setting for Orange and Blue boxes! I tried this several times to make sure I got it just right! Anyone else hate when they click on a Pinterest recipe, make it and it is NOT 5 stars??!!

    Hello - Thank you for this video. I usually make home made mac and cheese but for a quick fix this worked great. I used a 6qt Instant Pot. I did a 6 min high pressure because the "Rice" setting on my pot wouldn't let me change the time. I used the portions as you described for the Kraft Mac and cheese. I wasn't certain if your water was cold or warm, but I used warm water. It came out perfect. Thank you again.

      Thank you for your comment and for watching!!! I've used both cold and warm water and either work great! You can also use the steam button on the Crock Pot Express and I have made it in a 6 qt and a 4 qt and they both work perfectly with no time adjustment needed!

      Awwww, so glad I could help! Thanks so much for the comment! I have actually been experimenting even more with this and doing 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of almond milk/milk! Give it a try next time! Sometimes I never have milk on hand, so knowing that I can do this with just a cup of water is so convenient!

    I did mine slightly differently using the so-called pot-in-pot method. I weighed the dry pasta and then in a tall mixing cup I added an equal weight of water (definitely less than a cup), three tbsp low-fat milk, two tbsp melted Irish butter, and the cheese powder. Then I took my immersion blender and made a nice slurry with the wet ingredients and poured it over the shells inside and earthenware bowl, stirring a bit to incorporate evenly. I added a cup of water to the IP bowl for the steam, placed the bowl on the included metal trivet and lowered it carefully into the 6 qt. IP. I had no clue how long to set the timer for, so I just went with half an hour. I figured that elevating the bowl eliminated the chance of the food burning, so there's was no risk in going over time. After quick releasing, I took the bowl out with the trivet handles and immediately sampled the pasta. It was perfectly al dente from top to bottom, which actually surprised me because I was worried the top wouldn't get enough time to absorb the liquid. Turns out, my concern was unwarranted. That being said, the concoction still felt a bit dry without gooey melted cheese in it, so I might just add some afterward at low pressure in addition to some black pepper and alder wood smoked salt.

      I use this for everything!!! It's amazing and I can't imagine my life without it. I've made ribs, mac and cheese, chili, fettuccine alfredo, cheesecake, and yogurt in this thing. Sometimes my uncle will come into town from Michigan and he stays at my grandma's house. my grandma doesn't have anything other than the microwave to cook with because she can't see. I bring that over and leave that in her kitchen until he leaves and we make an entire meals using just the crock pot Express. It's the only appliance he ever needs when he's over at my grandma's. This thing has been an absolute lifesaver. I love that I can throw frozen chicken in there and cook it up and under a half hour. I am still waiting on my recalled lid but even with the recall I'm still going to be faithful to this machine till the end. I will be buried with this thing. 😂

    • @crockpotempire
      @crockpotempire  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately this particular recipe is only for the Crockpot Express because it pressurizes the noodles in water to cook them quickly. I do have a homemade macaroni and cheese recipe you can make in the “normal” Crockpot. You can find it on my blog and it is the best!!! My husband requests it for every holiday! 🧀

    Could I do more than 1 box at a time? If I were doing 2 or 3 boxes at once, would it still work if I doubled or tripled the recipe?

    • @crockpotempire
      @crockpotempire  4 роки тому

      Absolutely! I have never tried tripling, but I know doubling will work, so I am going to bet tripling will, too! Just make sure nothing goes passed the fill line and throw in a pat or two of butter to make sure all the noodles don't stick together! Let me know how it works and thanks for asking!!! :)

      @@crockpotempire So I did 3 boxes and it turned out wonderfully. I did have to make a few adjustments. You need to add an extra cup of water, use a whole stick of butter and add 2 extra minutes. It also needs to be removed from the pan right away or it continues to cook. But you are a genius! Thank you for this recipe!

    That is about the same time it takes to make mac & cheese the traditional way. This is why I bought the machine 4 months ago and have not used it. I want FAST. I am not saying it is not nice to throw everything in at once. Just that I thought cook times on everything was faster.

    • @crockpotempire
      @crockpotempire  5 років тому

      Yes, but to be able to dump everything in all in a pot and not have to boil and drain water is totally worth it...even if there was extra cook time IMO! You should try it and see how easy it it truly makes your life! Let me know if you ever change your mind! I hope you stick around and try out your Express Crock!!!

      @@crockpotempire thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I am not against the Express, just thought it would be quicker. I do like the idea of the machine. The title clearly states BOX Mac&cheese, the one that comes inside a box. It’s a matter of reading skills. If you don’t like Mac & Cheese from a BOX, don’t lose your time watching a video on Mac & Cheese from a BOX. Example: I don’t like mayo. I’m not going to watch a video about making mayo.
