    My girlfriend gave me the vintage blocks years ago. They sat in my closet as I just didn’t know what to do with them. I thought of Jenny and how she loves antique and vintage quilts so those blocks went to her. I am so happy they found a home and I couldn’t be more happy that Jenny did a tutorial. I sent this UA-cam to my girlfriend and she was so genuinely pleased! Thank you, Jenny, for your inspiration!

      @debbiebaldwin5161 Well, that's awesome. It's a shame she didn't mention who she got them from. Sure did inspire a fantastic tutorial! So thank you ❤️

      Well that’s really cool. But if you sent them to her ? She should have mentioned you shouldn’t she have ? That was a really nice thing you did. Didn’t she say she found them ?

    I think 6 blocks with the addition of a border all around would have made an adorable baby quilt! ❤

    Love the vintage flower. It would look so cute to embellish the wall hanging like you would a junk journal. With bits of lace, buttons, Rick rack, etc.

    I love the flower you made for the tutorial- less contrast between the petal colors, but still two different fabrics. My eye is drawn to the bottom left flower, too. A beautiful quilt, with gorgeous fabric!

    Hi Jenny! I made this same quilt pattern in 2008. It was the first quilt I ever made and I hand stitched around the whole thing. I didn't have a pattern, my sister and I had seen this block in a quilt at a quilt show and I just fell in love with it so I went on a wing and a prayer and devised my own pattern. It turned out just okay because I didn't put it on a big enough background square. I haven't quilted it yet but I really should finish it after 16 years, lol. I love your tutorials and your family! Thank you for your inspiration! ❤

    Jenny you do make applique look so easy I found for me to slow down and it comes out ok I haven't mastered it yet but I will . This block would be so cute in so many fabrics I think I will use a 30's layer cake I have . Thanks again Jenny It's getting so close to your leaving for Ron's Mission you will be missed. I wish you safe travel and Blessings on your journey !

    Beautiful! I’m making quilts for each of my 4 granddaughters using vintage inspired blocks. Think this will be quilt #3. I prefer not to do hand turning of appliqué because I don’t feel it’s as durable. I do like to use a blanket stitch and a contrasting thread so it looks more “hand stitched” but to each his own.

    If I were to do this block, I would fuse the petals and do one continuous zigzag before adhering the stitching the circle. Seems it may be easier and more efficient. Of course I may be missing a critical reason that wouldn’t be a good idea. Just a suggestion I might try.

    • @settame1
      @settame1 2 місяці тому

      If you do the petals first you’d likely have some bulk that shows up under the center so you could see the stitching under it.
      You can do this as one continuous stitch (like a quilting stitch going around the outside of the petal then using the center for travel but doing it in two steps is probably easier.

    • @lmrushing7375
      @lmrushing7375 2 місяці тому

      @@settame1 even with the extra thickness of the fusible? Good observation, I would try anything in order to avoid fussing with stop and go. Alternatively, I think I would make it a long term project and hand work the appliqué. Nah! I’ve too much to do to do that. :):)

    • @BarbMoyer-iq1ww
      @BarbMoyer-iq1ww 2 місяці тому

      I ended up doing each petal with a blanket stitch, switching to a straight stitch to travel when they overlap. That worked really well. Using a glue stick instead of all of the fusing also worked well (I always irin the wrong side or use the wrong type of fusible and make a hot mess 😊)
