Thank you so much! Just bought my first cruiser, never stepped on a skateboard before. Had to sit on a sidewalk and watch this video because I just could not get home on my own😂
Dude same. I moved to a city with a great amount of areas to bike, skate, etc. and I thought a cruiser would be fun. I'm glad I looked up a video because I was standing on the board completely wrong lmao
i’m 25 and i decided i’ve had enough of my cruiser board just being decoration, so after i got a full set of protection gear, i went to my nearest park and got to riding. and i just wanna say that your 3rd tip about needing confidence is so true. somehow the slower i went, i kept tripping and stopping, but the moment i just went for it, i finally managed to turn my front foot sideways and even managed to turn it back to pointing forward to gain speed. thanks for this video man
I'm over 30 and I just started today, bought Landyachtz cruiser. I was so afraid I won't be able to do it, but it's actually much better than I expected! Can't turn the front foot sideways yet, but overall, the first experience was okay. I didn't injure myself, so that's nice. 😁 I will probably struggle with confidence tho.
One thing that helped me push better and feel more comfortable was to put my weight towards the ball of my front foot. I found that whenever I would put weight on the heel of my foot when pushing, the board would launch forward causing me to lose balance.
I was already riding a cruiser before watching this video however since watching this I have definitely improved, confidence was my weakness and now my confidence has got better and it more easier and enjoyable to skate
this was hella helpful mate, I bought a cruiser just last week, and panicked when I rode over the gaps in the pavement (it sped up like mad). I'll keep the bent knees tip in mind for when I next go through a similar hell of a trek
what I've learned is that should you have to get over a crack, always do it diagonally. It might sound counterintuitive, but it works. never go straight, make sure that your rolls hit the crack one after another, that way the board can absorb the bump :)
I randomly came across this. Wasn't really watching it for the knowledge but he seems like a good kid. I totally agree with having a full suit of armor at any age.
Hi, I'm new here 😊 and I'm a new skateboarder who just bought a skateboard today. Thanks to my son who took me to the skateboard shop today. I'm 43 years old. Great video and all these tips for me as a beginner. But next time I am gonna buy a Cruiser board, it looks cooler 😃
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I have watched several videos about cruiser and longboard tonight and yours helped me made the decision because of your clear demo on the road condition.
Just brought a Mercer Cruiser and I'm really happy with the board. I had a skateboard at 13 but then stopped after a year. I am a bit rusty but I'll get into it again 😊
I REALLY wanted a longboard, but at the place i went to.. all the longboards looked pretty wacky, so i got this neat looking cruiser and im thankfull for this vid. Now i just need shoes that arent sandals or the shoes i wear for family gatherings haha
I’m used to riding longboards and I got a dingy and when I first got on it I felt like I’ve never ridden a skateboard before 😂😂😂 that kick tail was intimidating me lmao
I just got fluro yellow grip tape, penny 4" trucks, COAST wheels 60mm/78a in BRIGHT 🩷 PINK! with reds, 1/2 inch dog town risers and pink bolts!!!!! Yay! Plus speed cream and a set of pads and a new helmet!!!
I got my cruiser board one week ago I got it instead of a long board bc of the nose and tail I have gotten to ride for hours but I’ve road for like 45mins to about 1hour and 15mins. I had to get a big cruiser bc I’m really tall and I have big feet so I got a 10 by I think 38 or a 39
Nice video and helpful tips! Although, I would argue that front foot parallel to the board and perpendicular to back foot is for balance and stability when trying to move straight ahead. In fact, one should try to make both their feet as parallel to the board as they can if they want balance and stability. This is why downhill longboarders position their feet like that. Both feet being perpendicular to the board is for maneuverability, i.e. turning left and right. This is nice for low to medium speed cruising around. But if I suddenly get to a downhill path, no matter how small it is, I will definitely position my front foot parallel to the board for balance
For beginners who don’t have a masterful control of a board, that is not a good idea. Beginners need to feel confident and somewhat safe when learning to ride, and a perpendicular stance is the easiest way to control that maneuverability. If feet are parallel and a beginner gets a wobble or unexpected turn, it’s over. Also keep in mind that beginners are likely not going from zero experience to instant downhill bombs
I recieved one for christmas and it has been so much fun. VERY SCARED TOO but im hoping that with pratice ill get less scared. Havent fell down yet but fully prepared, long shirts long pants and gloves 😀
I bought a cruiser, practiced for a few weeks, thought I am doing great and then fell off into a front split and tore my hamstring real bad. Which board would you recommend for total beginners who want to use it mainly for commutes? @Ogden Sikel
For larger commutes I prefer longer boards for beginners because they can absorb cracks and stuff a lot easier so they’re safer…my life’s tan tien is great but also very pricey…look into drop throughs for the best stability, or top mounts for a little nicer turning ability. If you get a cheaper board make sure to buy better bearings as an upgrade. Any boards from loaded or landyachtz would be my recommendation for high quality decks!
How your hamstring? Did you heal fast? I'm also practicing how to falling side to side and front to build my muscle memory helmet pads will protect me from falling.
Wow, I just watched two of your videos and I'm already a fan. I really like your way of explaining and your energy. I'm kinda a beginner and don't know with which board to start, cruiser board or longboard. You just said cruiser boards are more difficult... Were you talking about those mini cruisers or what is razoable size?
The best thing about growing up prior to UA-cam and social media… when we went through embarrassing phases and bad hair styles… it wasn’t online to forever be seen by the world. Our bad hair decisions stayed in the past 😂😂
I just started skating about 3weeks ago and I have really gotten the hang of it and I want to know if I can do kickflips and Ollie’s on my cruiser board, I have been trying but it feels like my board has too much grip on it. Can I get some advice?
I haven’t rode a skateboard in 5 years , bought a cruiser cause my dog love to run and can’t keep up no more , but going to learn on my own for about two months then go for it with him what you think 🤔? Great vid by the way
Mann, are these really fast and smooth? Planning to get one. It’s been years though since i last skateboard, and this may be something really new feeling.
Your front foot is the one you either : A: Catch yourself with B: the first foot you use to go upstairs or ascend a ladder C: the foot you keep in front when you run and slide on a slippery floor for fun All are true for most
Very nice vid! Just starting out so I'm binging beginner tutorials whenever I can haha. A little surprised that you said Cruiser boards have difficulty going over bumps and high sidewalks, because isn't that the point of Cruiser boards? That they are able to cruise everywhere because of their bigger and softer wheels? Cheers!
@@lIIuminatl They are wayy better than regular wheels. It does depend on the board though since i ride the Landyaghtz tugboat Flippy and the wheels are harder than most wheels but most cruisers will have relatively soft wheels so im not sure what he is on about.
Step one: Buy the Land Yachtz Turbo Flight with the chonky plow king wheels (or at least a set of plow kings). Trust me, you'll thank me later. Things roll over just about anything and roll speed is insane for a cruiser.
@@zanetruesdale7263 there is a learning curve but if you’re afraid of falling you won’t get far in the sport. You’ll fall learning to just cruise but not nearly as much as when you’re actually skating doing tricks

Nice congratulations!! I just started yesterday too I’m 33 I already strained my leg a bit 😭 but still going strong 💪
