Dr Sam, you inspired me. My face loves Azelaic acid. I’m in month four of my six month plan to drastically improve my skin. It’s all working! I watched your videos, learned, watched more. I’m almost 66 and my skin is almost back to pretty. Clear, rosacea free, even tone. I now look in the mirror without cringing. Thank you!!!

I used to be that clog picker with the tweezers! I use salicylic acid once in a while, prob should more, but use azelaic acid every day. I think mine are lot less noticeable than they used to be pre Dr Sam's magical products and advice! Thank you 🙂

I am using Clinique take the day off cleansing balm...it's for whatever reason the only thing that doesn't break me down. I also use the ordinary azelaic acid and since I have rosacea I am trying the Kiehl's micro dose retinol which is 0.1%...not sure if I can go stronger, but so far I use it only once a week...that's how much my skin is sensitive 🙈😃

So helpful. I have a series on my chin which occasionally turn into cysts which recur. During a time of stress recently this happened on my cheeks, chin and jaw! I use salicylic acid most days though in my cleanser so helpful to see the roots....
Very much need to start considering retinoids!

??? Regarding closed comedones that do or don't have puss at minute 3:33 area? This is rather confusing, I have what looks like whitish puss top on what I assume is a closed
comedone, but if it's not white puss, than why the whitish appearance at the very top? ( that's my first question, and my 2nd question is, if I have the type that later has turned into some type
of inflammed closed comeodone and that's the reason for the whitish appearance, than is this as good as place to start as any :
Benzoyl Peroxide for a few days by itself or Benzoyl Peroxide in the morning followed 3 to 4 hours later by a layer of BHA/Salicylic Acid in the afternoon ?

Thank you for this video! I have struggled with closed comedones for decades and nothing seems to help. I actually have very dry skin, so not only does salicylic acid not work, it dries my skin out terribly. What about mandelic acid? I have heard it is somewhat oil soluble and can get into the pore but be less drying.

Hello, Dr. Sam. Thank you for this informative video 🙏🏻🫂 I’m really struggling with closed comedones and I just wanted to ask how I can incorporate the three powerful ingredients (Azelaic, Tretinoin & Salicylic) in my routine. I’ve been using those three but I stopped using Tretinoin last month. Only use azelaic @night then salicylic acid cleanser. How I can incorporate the tretinoin in my routine again? Thank you so much 🩷🙏🏻🫂 hope you’ll notice me 🥹🙏🏻

Interesting video - thank you Dr Sam. I have a small bump - had it for years - just near my jaw. I am not sure if it is even a small wart rather than a comedone. I have pretty sensitive skin although I am using a prescription tret via Dermatica (online derm) and only reaction I get from that can be around my nose area to the side. What specific product would help? I use Medik 8 Press and Glow tonic to try and clear blackheads/fissures on my nose and T-zone but even that can make my skin feel a bit tight and itchy. In any case it has done nothing for the near jaw, which I have had for years now.
Any ideas Dr Sam? Many thanks 😊

Hi Dr Sam, I'm a man who had a very bad allergic reaction recently. I was giving antibiotics and antihistamines. I noticed discoloration/scarring to areas that I have been itching i.e face neck tummy and chest. I searched on UA-cam for a treatment to the discoloration and bought hydroquinone. After first one time usage my face and neck turned very red. I stopped using the hydroquinone cream. Unfortunately the red areas face cheeks and nose are now brown as if burnt. It has been two weeks and the brown discoloration won't go. I watched a video of yours about azelaic acid I have been using it but without any noticeable changes.
    Could you please advise.

Very helpful video. I’ve been using Azelaic acid for over a year now and it helps a lot with inflammation, but I‘m still struggling with closed Comedones. My dermatologist demands me to be on oral contraceptives to be able to make the move to retinoids, which is not possible for me. They treat me like a womb with legs who could become pregnant any minute. It’s honestly dehumanizing, I’m 38 years old.

I have noticed with my friends and my skin that using a moisturizer that is too heavy for our skin also caused closed comedones. Too heavy in oils especially. I also have very sensitive skin and irritating ingredients like fragrance, essential oils....can also caused me closed comedones. On top of Azelaic acid, maybe you should try using a Salycilic acid mask or cleanser a few times a week.
I also have acne_blemish prone skin but it has been under control now. I have a youtube channel about it. Hope it helps.

I added 0.3% retinol to my skincare routine this year and my skin was doing great in the summers but now in the winter, it's begun flaking and I have all this acne. I'm sure the retinol is partly responsible for this but I wonder if my sunscreen's not being properly removed by my cleanser?
