To explain why Lucifer wasn't initially willing to help Charlie was not only to protect her, but because he didn't believe Sinners could change. Since he's confined to hell, he can never see any of the good that came with his decision, only the cruel and wicked acts of the sinners. That was likely one of the main sources of his depression and his falling out with Lilith, combined with his previously strained relationship with Charlie no doubt made him even more depressed.

Do these folks not understand that the vast majority of the Hazbin Hotel cast has Broadway credits? 😂 Why are they surprised by their voices sounding so good?
All the voice-actors in the show are also Broadway performers, which is why they're such good singers. And I recently learned that apparently the plan was 22 episodes, but they were only given 8, so they had to compress a *lot* of stuff into that timespan.
Them being like “his voice!” “who is this voice actor?!” Meanwhile I’m over here SCREAMING “JEREMY JORDAN!!! IT’S JEREMY JORDAN!!!“ he’s PHENOMENAL, I LOVE HIM
22:40 "Almost like he's a singer who also does voice acting." Spot on, that is pretty much every voice in this show, part of the reason they changed casting from the pilot to the full series (as great as the pilot actors did their characters) was that this was meant to be a musical. Vivzie primarily pulled on singers from broadway and stuff like Alex Brightman (The voice of Sir Pentious, Adam, and Fizz in Helluva. Also Beetlejuice in the Beetlejuice Musical. Also Jack Black in The School of Rock Musical.) The Voice Actor for Lucifer is Jeremy Jordan, who although not having a final role, actually was a big part in The Greatest Showman becoming a thing, as he stood in for Hugh Jackman for a while after he had surgery. He also played in Supergirls, he was Jack Kelley in Newsies, and Clyde in the 2011 rendition of Bonnie and Clyde. They wanted good voice actors, but they also needed professional singers for this project.
It’s theorized (I don’t know if it’s confirmed) that Lucifer gave humans free will in the hazbin lore (supported by exposition dump in ep 1 and this one) so imagine what it’s like to literally see the consequences of your actions from literally when the earth was made, and to see literally no one has broken the mold in that time.
Exactly. From Lucifer's immortal POV, the human race is not getting better, because if they were, the amount of souls coming to Hell would be declining. After eons of humans misusing free will, Lucifer seems to have just given up thinking these Sinners can be anything other than degenerates.
Well, let me put it this way: Like how Guilliman in 40k has Ultra-Depression for what he has to deal with now from the Imperium....Lucifer has Hella Depression because he used to be someone who brought life and joy to humans and also gave humans free will (the apple with Eve), but Heaven absolutely denied everything he had in mind and eventually forced him into the Hells. So now he's a defeated, depressed, broken person from everything.
Loser baby is my favourite song of season 1 but More Than Anything is such a beautiful song that I still choke up while singing along to it because I know it is the kind of love I will give to my own children when I have them
Jeremy Jordan is the Lucifer VA. He is Varian from “Tangled: The Series”. He’s also been in many Broadway shows. Couple of things you may have missed: - Husk’s coffee cup says “Fuck Mondays”. - Picture of emo Charlie at Lucifer’s house. - The golden accordion is a nod to “Weird Al” Yankovic. Vivienne originally wanted him to be Lucifer in the series.
The scene during the last song where he sees the spears pointing at Charlie, eyes widen in horror, and he spins her out of the light and into the shadow to keep her safe. Perfection.
"More Than Anything" Lucifer and Charlie's Father/Daughter duet makes me cry every time I play it. Razzle and Dazzle are like Keyky they are toys Lucifer bring to life. It could be Charlie isn't their first child, just the first one to survive. @Valentino simp If we learned anything from Helluva Boss, it's that Viv love morbid backstories soooo
You don't just teleport to someone's home without giving them some time to get things in order first, it's just good manners. Plus he likely needed to freshen up himself.
Why didn't Lucifer just teleport over? Because Charlie and her hotel might not have been prepared for his arrival. If he dropped in in a literal second, he could've seemed desperate (which his pride wouldn't allow), and possibly irritated his daughter in doing so (some people can be sensitive about unexpected arrival/drop-ins, and this also could've furthered their father-daughter distance in Lucifer's mind) ^So, he wanted to be courteous and make a good impression. Better to save the instant teleport-arrival for if there's an actual emergency or something :P
"It took him an hour to get there". I just assumed, in his anxiousness and depression, he took that time to clean himself up, and probably practice what to say to his daughter, much like he practiced what to say when answering Charlie's call.
The big running theory with the community is the reason Lucifer seems so obsessed with ducks is he sees himself as The Ugly Duckling so its translated into basically everything and hence why in the song you see the duck seem to become more swanlike and angelic. Lucifer is such and incredible character in this show and definitely my favorite version I have met through any media this far.
I was reading comments on that and it apparently went even further. There’s a formal “you” in German…but also a form that’s specifically for royalty. And Alastor made a point of NOT using the royal form.
@@hermannmakuta3311 Well it's a technicality issue. I don't know the comment they are referring to, so I can only assume, but I imagine we're talking about the difference between Siezen und Ihrzen, which is mostly just the more archaic form but probably most well-known for once being used for, among other socially high-ranking people, royalty. As in, "f*ckt Euch" instead of "f*cken Sie sich" - or rather, if I'm understanding rekka correctly, Alastor did probably use the latter while the former would assumedly be more acceptable for Lucifer's hierarchical standing.
@@howlingnerdwolf6971I'm not exactly fluent in German, but Alastor did say the latter one, which was pretty funny cuz I think that he used the 'informal' (we call it that here in German class) form when he spoke to him prior to that.
Alastor’s “Fuck You” to Lucifer is my favorite moment in the entire season. It’s just so out of nowhere and so hilarious. Like any verbal clash where all else fails, just say “Fuck You”.
Jeremy Jordan (Luficer) is a Broadway singer. He's the reason "The Greatest Showman" was greenlit because he had to sing all the songs after Jackman had a nose surgery, and more recently, he's also the English voice of Light Yagami in the demo album for the Death Note Musical.

The talk about Lucifer's beautiful voice can be explained by the fact that Jeremy Jordan has indeed been a massive Broadway actor for a while! He's so talented, especially in Newsies, as she mentioned. He's been in so many things and is a fan favorite amongst theater enthusiasts. :)
I didn't realize Jeremy Jordan had such a fantastic voice until the musical episode crossover of The Flash and Supergirl. Took me by surprise. Love him here as Lucifer and the duet between him and Alastor is the best.

Honestly, Lucifer, his introduction qnd his overall character was someone whom I felt I could relate to and I felt that the fears and emotions he has would be the same as mine in the future, and the song "More Than Anything" actually made me cry because of the meaning and message behind the lyrics. "Good luck kiddo" 😭
This episode definitely helped cement that even though hes "helping" Alastor is definitely his own piece of shit to stick onto the turd of hell. A pretty big one at that too.

Loser baby is my favourite song of season 1 but More Than Anything is such a beautiful song that I still choke up while singing along to it because I know it is the kind of love I will give to my own children when I have them
With that many ducks I bet at least one of them does in fact go moo
I'm really sorry for your loss, I didn't know much about Simba, but I'm sure he was a great cat who lived a long, happy life ❤
Jeremy Jordan is the Lucifer VA. He is Varian from “Tangled: The Series”. He’s also been in many Broadway shows.
Couple of things you may have missed:
- Husk’s coffee cup says “Fuck Mondays”.
- Picture of emo Charlie at Lucifer’s house.
- The golden accordion is a nod to “Weird Al” Yankovic. Vivienne originally wanted him to be Lucifer in the series.
Lucifers voice is like velvet on a cool spring day whilst having a picnic
The scene during the last song where he sees the spears pointing at Charlie, eyes widen in horror, and he spins her out of the light and into the shadow to keep her safe. Perfection.
Oh i couldn’t wait for him to meet Lucifer it’s literally the most perfect character for him
"More Than Anything"
Lucifer and Charlie's Father/Daughter duet makes me cry every time I play it.
Razzle and Dazzle are like Keyky they are toys Lucifer bring to life.
Lucifer and Charlie where in Lucifer's Lulu World. In Pride ring
In Helluva boss season 1 episode 2 Actavia was talking about it.
Mammon has his own rip off Loo loo land.
Charlie's Canon age is 200 years.
#Theory
Charlie wasn't first children of Lilith and Lucifer but they all born death.
@ LadySygerrik
Some stories of Lilith have her cursed with the inability to have children, with all of hers being either born dead or dying shortly after being born. It could be Charlie isn't their first child, just the first one to survive.
@Valentino simp
If we learned anything from Helluva Boss, it's that Viv love morbid backstories soooo
I know other people said depression for him taking an hour, but it's also just the nice thing to do. Give her time to get ready
“That duck so many eyes. Eyes for days.”
“Eyes for days?”
“Eyes for days.”
Also: I’m sorry about your kitty. 🥺
You don't just teleport to someone's home without giving them some time to get things in order first, it's just good manners. Plus he likely needed to freshen up himself.
Welcome to the glory that is Jeremy Jordan's voice. Quite possibly the best singer in Broadway and animation right now.
21:34 - According to Google
Charlie is over 200 Years old
And Luci has PTSD and Autism.
Did you see how long it took the man to answer the phone? He needed an hour to talk himself up lol
I laughed at your simultaneous surprised/impressed faces when Lucifer showed his duck haha
Lucifer's depression explains their relationship so much. Especially if Charlie doesn't know he has it, creating a disconnect and issues between them
I don't know what you're going through, but my heart goes out to you. Positive thoughts from me to all of you. Depression can suck my ass.
Why didn't Lucifer just teleport over?
Because Charlie and her hotel might not have been prepared for his arrival. If he dropped in in a literal second, he could've seemed desperate (which his pride wouldn't allow), and possibly irritated his daughter in doing so (some people can be sensitive about unexpected arrival/drop-ins, and this also could've furthered their father-daughter distance in Lucifer's mind)
^So, he wanted to be courteous and make a good impression. Better to save the instant teleport-arrival for if there's an actual emergency or something :P
My personal favorite theory is that he did teleport right over and was just outside the door for 1h
Ohhhh the twists that are coming. Finding out who people are and where some one has been …
Introducing your favourite character.
I knew you were gona love him the moment you seen him.
7:33 - Funfact
In the german Dub
Alastor also says
"F*** you"
But the "you" is formally pronounced
I was reading comments on that and it apparently went even further. There’s a formal “you” in German…but also a form that’s specifically for royalty.
And Alastor made a point of NOT using the royal form.
@rekkariley652 - there is no royal form of "you."
@@hermannmakuta3311 Just repeating what another German speaker said on that video. They’re the ones you need to talk to about that.
I love how the first time he curses is more than halfway through the first season and to fuckin Lucifer himself
The voice actor for Lucifer is Jeremy Jorden and he is on broadway. Voice of an angle
Alastor’s “Fuck You” to Lucifer is my favorite moment in the entire season. It’s just so out of nowhere and so hilarious. Like any verbal clash where all else fails, just say “Fuck You”.
5:17 I finally noticed Pentious in the background and I haven't stopped laughing oh my god
“More Than Anything” always gives me chills.
It didn't take him am hour to get there..he gave them an hour to get ready to meet THE GUY 🎉
All of the voice actors are professional singers and doing broadway
Vaggie said no weapons, but what about fortifications?!
Duck because or duck depression syndrome. When people act all out together in person but are a mess under the surface
Wait. There's a Death Note musical???
@5Geass Yeah. The japanese musical can be seen in its entirety on UA-cam, but the English album can be listened to on UA-cam and Spotify (under "podcast").
I swear i've listened to Lucifer's song 30+ times and tear up everytime. Perfection
I'm very sorry you lost your cat. May Simba rest in peace, and very sorry for your loss. It never is going to be easy. I'm scared for the day that I have to say goodbye to my own cat. I don't want to but I know at one point I will. So take care and I'm glad you like the episode. It is one of my more favorite episodes. However I think episode 4 still has to be my favorite. I know I love deep seated character development and hard lessons. And I especially love seeing people come through on the other side better than they were before. You're going to see a lot better side of Angel dust from this point on because of what happened in episode 4.
It happens way too fast to notice, but Alastor straight up drops the piano right on Lucifer before playing it in the first song. 🤣
Thanks for taking the time to record this despite having a bad day. We appreciate it. hope things get better for you.
Been loving these. Your friend is such a wonderful guest I love her energy and she is beautiful
MORE THAN ANYTHING IS MY NUMBER ONE SONG OF THIS SEASON …. I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS TO THE EPISODES BOTH OF YOU 😊
I didn't realize Jeremy Jordan had such a fantastic voice until the musical episode crossover of The Flash and Supergirl. Took me by surprise. Love him here as Lucifer and the duet between him and Alastor is the best.
Because that is an accurate representation of a duck
Hell's Greatest Dad is my second favorite. I'm so happy you like Respectless
Fun fact: it was momentous when Alastor cuss because since his demon persona is based off a radio host the 1920’s, he never swore until then. Reason being that swearing on the radio was forbidden back then
3:30 been waiting week's to see Duck react to this xD
Makes me feel like Lucifer every time I go back towhittling now and then... almost done making that wooden duck.
20:38 "I feel like that voice could help my back pain" 😂 omfg that's a line I needed
It probably took Lucifer a hour just to prepare. Look how he was with the phone.
Rarely comment, but thanks for getting the reaction out when you've had such a bad day - hope things aren't too bad for you dude
Is it just me or is nostalgia kicking in every time they sing in Hazbin Hotel. It just reminds me of love songs from the 2000s and early 2010s
Alastor doesn't actually care about Charlie he is just taking the piss at lucifer
You know with how they had depicted the relationship with Charlie and her family, I explained Lucifer to be more of the emotionally abusive type, so it’s fun to seem him as an adorable idiot just trying his best at being a dad and failing.
More than anything is hands down my favorite song.
"Aww that was sssthweet"
This episode definitely helped cement that even though hes "helping" Alastor is definitely his own piece of shit to stick onto the turd of hell. A pretty big one at that too.
I'm so glad you got the Golden Fiddle reference. Few reactors I've seen have.
I've been waiting for this for so long. My favorite character introduced with the best rubber ducks in (my opinion) the best episode.
Notice how when Lucifer is singing, the angel's silhouettes point their weapons at him, and he just seems down. But then they turn their weapons to Charlie, and he is terrified. He's afraid of her being a target of Heaven.
Not calling myself out, but I may or may not have cried like a b!tch in the episode 🤔 really glad you got to it, really excited for this next one and the ones after. You're really going to love it
As a Varian fan I automatically knew I'd love Lucifer the moment I learned he would be voiced by Jeremy freakin Jordan. Varian songs are some of the absolute best songs and I'm so glad that people have already made Hazbin Hotel fan animatics to "Ready As I'll Ever Be"
I really love lucifers design, also the references in it. His hat has a snake on it, because when he gave eve the forbidden fruit he took on the form of a snake. He also has an apple on his hat and cane, because the forbidden fruit is regularly displayed as an apple.
Also don't forget he's the ringleader. Quite literally. All of hell is a circus
16:20 "Why does he think like that 😬" OMFG you are the only reaction channel i've EVER seen who has noticed that! i swear, every time i see this episode i'm like, "ooh, yikes," yet NO ONE ELSE has EVER mentioned how alarming that is to hear from a character already established to have depression! man! okay, clearly i need to binge this channel.
Have fun!! Everything should be in playlists
Remember everyone on the cast was Broadway talent fallowing the pilot after which they were all recast when A24 and Amazon Prime picked up the show.
"took an hour to get there" so depression is like-
4:48 as they said in the pilot, its because hotels are for people passing through temporarily
The full cast are Broadway musical singers.
Mimzy was originally supposed to be a part of the main cast.
Is it bad that I’m INCREDIBLY happy she wasn’t?
@@Emmalinezewyvernno, no it is t, I hate her character too, but she was likely written that way deliberately.
@@MacTechG4 Oh I’m certainly positive she was, My brain and her aren’t compatible
More than anything IS the song that WILL bring up your daddy issues. 😭😭🤣
Damn dude... Dedication .. hope you have a better day tomorrow dude!
