Man, your editing skills and the structure of the vlog get better and better. I've been watching you for over a year and a half and i can truly say that the way you organize tasks it's amazing. You might overcome Simon Clark's uni vlogs as the best on yt. Cheers from Romania!
Hi John! I've been watching your videos for a while now and have been so inspired by you so much so that I decided to give it a shot and apply to Harvard. And I'm so so happy to say that I got accepted into Harvard Class of 2023! I will be joining you in Cambridge this fall and I'm hoping to concentrate in CS!! Thank you so much for your genuinely amazing videos, I'm so excited! Thanks from the UK!
Hey Yousuf! Congratulations on that! Can you share your story of how you got in? I've always been inspired by inspiring and dedicated students and to see what did they do to be where they are! Again, congratulations!
You know I just realized that your videos are sort of different from all others I watch. That is I learn something new or think about a topic that I might not have otherwise. And I don't think that that's the case with most other channels I subscribed to. So I would just like to thank you for that and for the amazing videos that you make. P.S. the transitions are lit.
I liked the vlog, but feel like we could get some more insight on why Harvard stands out amongst other universities. Would love to see some of the facilities and services that they offer you like web library, physical library, sports areas and gyms, dining hall, etc. More in the university and less in your room :) Just an opinion on what I would like to see!
Wow!! John, thank you so much for your kind and helpful answer! I'm really glad you replied me... this just made my day, for real. You are such an inspiring guy! Keep up the good work.
Luana Arantes hahah, sim, fiquei bem feliz por ter sido escolhido e muito mais por descobrir que outros brasileiros também consomem esse tipo de conteúdo! 🇧🇷
Besides the fact that your videos are so interesting and helpful, I love how you're such a positive, kind and sympathetic person. Just listening to your voice calms me and then the message you have to share is even better!
This is hands down the best video I've seen in a while. Your channel brings more value into my life than any other channel on youtube, and I am very grateful for that. Thank you, John!
the cinematography in this video is incredible!! I've been following you for a few years now and you've come so far with your creativity and videography skills it always blows me away. Keep making these videos!
I’m studying Industrial Engineering here in Naples. I’m such a big fan of you John, you inspired me in different ways. I really love what I’m studying and it is such a pleasure discovering that we’re studying quite similar things, even if we’re in two completely parts of the world! I studied TSP for an exam called “Operation Management”, and other intresting NP-Hard problem, such as scheduling activities in a Job Shop. Google about it, it’s quite intresting. Anyway, go ahead John!
I’m getting really inspired by your videos. The quality of the vlog is amazing. I also liked the part where you talked about node and edge. Learning something new everyday :)
I'm feeling really guilty that I haven't seen your vlogs for quite awhile (cause I mostly watched non-sense vids, except for "how to not procrastinate" TED Talks hahahaha) I'm really looking forward to see your future vlogs!!! I'm a senior high school student now and seeing you as a organised and chill college young adult gives me hope with education LOL
It's pretty interesting to compare your student life in the USA with mine in Germany! I'm planning to come to one of your Universities for a semester abroad. So thanks for those nice impressions. :)
You really are a shining person, I can feel better about a lot of things seeing you and learning from you in every aspect, amazing, thank you so much for sharing your light
The way you edit your videos was already on point but this brings daily vlogs to a whole new level! And what I also love about them is how interesting all the segments were and how well prepared you were even though it's "only" daily vlog. AMAZING JOB!
I don’t know how you do it with the amount of work you must have. You are really consistent and great at managing your time. You teach me the ways. Excited for this new content!!
i really enjoy your a day in the life vlog, so it's nice to know there's going to be more! the CS corner is interesting and the cinematic shoots between each scene is amazing and aesthetically pleasing, really looking forward for another episode.
I loved the CS Corner segment! I love seeing what people actually do in their majors-- it helps me figure out what I want to do. I'm 99% sure I want to major in Mathematics. I wish there were more UA-camrs who major in Math who talk about the problems they do and explain them like how you just did. I really enjoyed that.
I love it,that you seem like a very down to earth person. Just a normal person, who loves to read and has a normal daily life. Other UA-camrs with the same amount of followers feel like they are superstars. Favorite UA-camr so far!!! I love love love this vlog 👍🏼
I'll be honest: when you said you were gonna vlog throughout april I was like "oh no, another vlogger, i just like his normal videos so much, why the vloooogs" But this was so much more than what I was expecting. This format is really cool and puts together most of the things I love about your channel, great job and can't wait for the next one!
Keep doing what you do john! You really inspire me! The way you live your life, and how authentic your videos are is again extremely inspiring. You are still young in age, but very mature; which is something that I am looking forward to accomplishing. Please never stop being you; people like you are rare.
Dear John, I seriously think you should make videos where you explain about CS and more specifically, tutorials on how to code in Python and stuff... I think it will be really interesting! And I can see that you're very talented in explaining things in a way that allow people to be able to understand concepts quickly and accurately. I really hope you take this into consideration, because I am starting to become really interested in coding and I think if you make videos about coding, it will really help! I love your videos so much!! I admire you a lot as well, because you go to Harvard; yet you are still able to achieve most of your goals and get enough sleep as well! I also love your personality since I can see that you are a very special person... Yours Truly, Stephanie
Great job. Keep recording your vlogs regularly, it’s a really useful thing to watch your videos for everyday motivation and learning English. From Russia with love ☺️💪
It's really interesting what you say about failure. I'm currently reading Trauma Through a Child's Eyes: Awakening the Ordinary Miracle of Healing, which talks about how a traumatic experience can result in a certain type of energy that needs to be channelled into something else in order for a child to 'bounce back' afterwards. That ties in to what you are saying - if you continue to ruminate on the failure, that negativity is just rolling around in your head, going nowhere. But if you accept it, and go 'Ok, that happened, now what can I do? Where do I go from here?" and redirect your failure into growth or new opportunities, then it's much easier to move on from failure and continue towards your goals.
John, I am thankful for your videos. They motivate me to work hard and to get myself organized! Keep posting these videos. You have one of the best channels on youtube imo.
You should do a video on the types of people who attend Harvard. Show all of us who wonder the people who actually get into this prestigious school and interview a lot of people about their backgrounds and academic success
I liked when Phil Knight (Founder of Nike) said in the beginning stages of creating his company he accepted failure, embraced it and when he did fail he failed fast, learned from it and was better for it
As an Industrial Engineering Student, I would like to add some information about traveling salesman problem. As you said it is an NP hard problem, but especially when the problem has a time window constraints (there might be other constraints like capacity, random demands etc.). You can solve these kinds of problems by developing heuristic algorithms (tabu search, adaptive largest neighborhoods etc. ). Good job :)
it surprises me how much overlap there is between industrial engineering and CS. Though it really shouldn't cause, after all, both disciplines are focused on problem-solving and efficiency. I enjoyed the vlog very much. Excited for the upcoming ones.
I have been learning English for 6 months at university in Turkey and I love your channel so much! Your sentences sound so clear. So I can understand you and I am trying to improve my listening skill with your great videos.( I hope there is no mistake) Love from Turkey🙆♀️
Super intriguing and quite inspirational to see how John manages his routine for the day. I’m currently struggling with a work / personal life balance so I think I will take some tips from you John!
I'm excited to see what life is like at Harvard for you this coming month! I was admitted to Harvard this December REA, and am now choosing between Princeton and Harvard for the class of 2023. It's an impossible choice (although I'm still not sure how I was fortunate enough to be stuck in this situation to start with! It seems too good to be true!) and I'm taking all the insight I can get into both schools :)
This was an amazing vlog! The intros and links between the sections were Oscar-worthy, and the different segments were very cool. Keep this up - can't wait for S0E1!! :)
I really enjoyed this video. Could you talk about time management and how you break down assignments/goals? Could you also talk about how you prioritise tasks in a day?

I almost forgot that CS Corner was a segment and not the entire video. I was about to whip out my notebook man haha
I kinda wished it was longer

The problem is John Fish is the type of person who doesn't fail.
I wrote my college essay about failure and fail a lot
@@thejohnfish
You wrote an essay on 'failure' or on your one of the failures titled as 'failure'
TBH, everybody fails A LOT, and often more successful people fail more than an average person in their lives
