    I love that your views and priorities are healthy and your not saying like “work harder and have perfect grades”.
    But you actually value sleep and mental health. I really appreciate that!

      Not really. He's sheltered to the hilt. Life in college is the easiest time in the world. Everything is systematized/organized there. He is a lifelong student. He knows this business well. He reads a lot of books. You cannot learn more from books that you can get from life experience far away from school. I'm finished with school. I like to watch his channel thinking, omg, this guy has got to quit reading so damn much, and get out more. He is not experimental enough in his life. There that's my post-college thoughts.
      He just happens to be good at prioritizing his time. He is disciplined. He's simply projecting the culture that he exists within as a student, and he is monetizing all of it through UA-cam. Good idea! He's capitalizing on his ideas, essentially selling lifestyle/guidance advice. If he is so after enlightenment and personal growth, he has got to get out of that environment where everything is the same cookie cutter culture. Once you're out of college, if you travel outside of any prosperous socioeconomic realm, you will go through culture shock like nothing else that will disillusion everything you think you "learned" in college. Jumping directly into life without an instruction book is the best thing ever for wiring your brain's creative side. It would be fun to see him do something wild on this channel. Anything out of his element would be interesting. Just waiting for that to happen, if it ever does.

    I'm in the second year of Information Engeneering, and at the beginning of this year it was hard to keep going. I can't even say for sure if was the University, or all the other things. But now, I see that was all of them, because they were unbalanced.
    Since then, I've been working on my organization, setting priorities, setting goals for my day, my week, my life. I started meditating and sharing my time with people that I really appreciate, I began to observe the beauty of the day by day, besides all the challenges that I had to deal with.
    Sleeping well, eating well, practicing exercises, studying, developing projects, sharing happiness with people.
    These things changed my life, in every possible way. And I'm really grateful for you Jhon, and all the other people that directly or indirectly helped me keep going and living my life as intense and happy that I'm capable to live.
    Evolve, be happy, peace ! 👊🤙

      It actually makes sense. I think the message that he his trying to say is refraining yourself from being too fixated with school that you tend to neglect yourself and your social life, which both are important aspects in life. It shouldn't be prioritizing school, it should be prioritizing yourself as you do school.
      Currently having a hard time doing that. lmao

    • @prabuddhashrestha
      @prabuddhashrestha 5 років тому +25

      I think we both need to sit and think...does grades matter that much that we compromise our health?

    • @anamiron6256
      @anamiron6256 5 років тому

      It seems like a good idea ^-^ Some people need more sleep than others by default, so don't beat yourself up because you get the sleep you need. When your body is well rested you might even find that you learn faster/better ^-^ School is important surely, but even as a top priority it shouldn't overwhelm you so much that you don't take care of yourself properly!

    • @anamiron6256
      @anamiron6256 5 років тому +1

      You're right, one shouldn't adopt new behaviors without thinking them through a bit, to see it they fit them well. At the same time, health is not something you should compromise on for good grades, at least that's how I see it.
      Think about it, if you sleep well enough, you'll be rested and so you'll be able to learn faster and better. Then again, the amount of sleep people need differs from person to person, so you might be ok with sleeping that much, while for others it may be a very destructive thing to do.

    • @84lakshanab80
      @84lakshanab80 5 років тому +1

      I'm on the same boat as you prepping for NEET. I started prioritising the most important things like sleep and mental health and spending less time on books (making those 6 hrs of work really efficient) now my grades have actually improved, I'm able stay alert and observent during class and I retain more stuff. Spending less hours doesn't necessarily mean bad grades just use them wisely and be focused. I made these changes because I realized that this bad cycle is never gonna stop. Even after I get a medical seat I have to work my ass off anyhow.

    I love this. I have been writing down what I need to do each weekend/week for school. I am double majoring and triple minoring and have been applying these aspects of balance talked about in your video into my life. I feel I have gotten really good at balancing my life. I still maintain my straight A's, I have a decent social life in and outside of class, and even find time to play ultimate three to four times a week. It all just takes a bit of work to figure out what you need vs what you want and what ranks higher in one's life, like you said in your video about prioritizing school, social life, extra curricular ordeals.
    Great video John. Keep it up. I might see you at Harvard one day.

    This helped a lot. I am a freshman in college which is far away from my hometown. It has been overwhelming and stressful for me these days. The common language there is english it is really difficult for me to communicate, make friends, and balance everything out. Thank you for your advice

    The video was great. Awesome to have you back because you are an amazing inspiration. However as a disabled person(I walk with walking stick because there was a mistake made during surgery) I can't relate to some things that you say. It is much easier for a healthy person to do your university stuff, physical activities, social life etc. I do my best but sometimes the sadness of my situation overcomes me. I would like to ask you if you have any advice for me considering finding a balance between doing my best/hard work and also having a rest without becoming lazy. Also please keep up making your videos considering the topic of university and your personal growth because for a disabled guy like me it is one of the greatest inspirations I have in my life. Kind Regards!

      I'm very sorry for your situation. Although, I think you can still translate those things to priorities of your own. Maybe substitute physical activities for a stimulating brain activity like chess or pool, or do yoga or what can help preserve your health. John mentions a book he read called "The subtle art of not giving a F*ck" and I think you could find the main purpose of that book very interesting (quick, easy read too). I can't imagine how hard it must be going through what you are, as I am obviously very grateful and lucky to have a relatively healthy body, but everyone has their own individual problems and in the end it comes down to our views of these problems and our response to them.

      It's also about acceptance. When you can accept who you are now you can begin to move forward. You really need to embrace your new life and find your new self.

      I’ve never had to deal with anything like that before and I’m so sorry that you do. That being said, it sounds like you’re being super self critical and maybe a bit neurotic about your situation. I can’t blame you, I get neurotic about mine for no reason. The key for me is to try to stay as closely tied to reality and the moment as possible. Don’t beat yourself up for not being able to work out: figure out how to apply your energy to something productive. And if you have no energy, rest. It’s not lazy if you need to rest, it’s normal and healthy. I think if you study and practice how to stay in the moment, it could be really beneficial to you.

      MrPresidente98 I very much agree with all the previous comments. Accept who you are and shape your goals according to yourself; don’t hold on to your previous life but see your difficulties as challenges. It all depends on your response to life’s circumstances. Wish you all the best.
