    Hello all! I wrote this Review on the Goalrilla website which I thought was fair and helpful for anyone considering this light. This video by Wholesome Hoops was the most helpful in making my decision, so thank you for taking the time to make it. Your video is awesome. Here are my thoughts on this light:
    I bought this item and it shipped and arrived very quickly. I believe this light does its job very well. The light is bright and out of the eyes of the player. GREAT for playing at night. The issue is how misleading the product description is. There is no clear definition of how the light gets power. It would be nice if you called out that the light has to be plugged in with an extension cord. This is important. Most home basketball courts aren’t conveniently placed next to an outlet. Who wants to run an LONG extension cord to their hoop? How about a solar power option? Also, this thing stands TALL and there isn’t a way to lower it, or take it off easily. Your product description states “easy to lower”…not exactly true. There are bolts and screws that have to be undone. The light is a bit of an eye sore because it stands so tall. Living in an HOA and having this light standing out ALL THE TIME will make you “the guy with the light on basketball hoop” and everyone will know exactly who they’re talking about. Anyways…be more transparent in your product description so that people like me who now want to return this product don’t have to pay a crazy shipping cost to get it back to you (if you return this product they will not give you a shipping label, you have to pay out of pocket to get it back to them). If you don’t care about these things, this may be the light for you.

    Great vid! Thanks for sharing! (How long is the cord?)

    • @Wholesome_Hoops
      @Wholesome_Hoops 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comment! The cord unfortunately isn't as long as I would like. I would say it's about 10 feet long. I had to use a 25 foot extension cord (three prong) to have it plugged up to my garage. But it's a minor hindrance considering we can play for as long as we like!

      LOL awww thanks! Honestly, our entire channel is filmed and edited on a Samsung Z Fold 5 and the editing app that I use is called Power Direct. It's for both android and ios and the cool thing is it's just $36.99 a year but you will not only get the mobile version but also the computer version as well.
      Here is their UA-cam account if you want to check them out. Reason why I'm plugging them is because all the music I use in our videos comes with their editing software if you wanted to use the music for any edits.

    Hey how do you feel about the goal itself? Im about to purchase one for my boys who enjoy dunking along with boys in the neighborhood. Ive heard the goaliath 60" shakes alot, is that what you have and is that true? Im also thinking of maybe the goarilla 60" one solid main pipe. Thanks!

    • @Wholesome_Hoops
      @Wholesome_Hoops 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for the question and sorry for the late response! But yes, I would say there is a little shake to the rim and if I had younger kids who had friends play on it roughly.... I would go with the Goalrilla rims cause I know they'd withstand that type of punishment lol. My son was already 13 when we committed to finding an in ground system. Had he been younger with 'less maturity' wanting to hang on the rim... I would have definitely invested in a sturdier rim like the Goalrilla ones lol. Because once you break ground, there isn't any going back! I know they're more expensive but the last thing you want is to have the Goaliath rim break on you (and on the packaging and the warning labels, it says to not hang on the rim lol). I can honestly tell you even when we lower the rim for 'jam sessions'... we try not to be too rough on it lol. I hope that answers your question!

    Hi,
    Great job on the light and the video! Question: Did you have to run a cord all the way to the light and plug it in or is there a cord it came with and you only have to plug it in with your own extension cord at the bottom? Thanks!

    • @Wholesome_Hoops
      @Wholesome_Hoops 4 місяці тому

      Awww thanks for the comment and question! The light comes with a cord that I would say is long enough to extend to maybe only 7 feet from the base of the rim. So depending on your set up... you'll need an extension cord to power this thing at night. For us, we use a 25 foot out door extension cord to the outlet in the garage you see in the background and it works just fine. Be sure though to use a three pronged extension cord. I hope that helps!

      @gregwalzel7504 awww appreciate that! I'm going to keep doing this as long as my body can lol. But if you have any other questions about the light before purchasing, come on back. I was mad trying to find things on the internet about this light and could only find things about GOALRILLA lights which I mistakenly bought first (couldn't use because they're made for basketball bases much thicker). Best of luck!

      @@Wholesome_Hoops Funny you say that. I too bought the Goalrilla hoop light a year ago and finally got time to out it up now and it doesn't fit my post. My post is square 4x4. That one is only for 5x5 and above. So, I came across your video and did my due diligence and this one fits 4x4 poles.
      How was it in the wind? Also, is it easy to take down for the winter?

    • @Wholesome_Hoops
      @Wholesome_Hoops 4 місяці тому

      @gregwalzel7504 lol that's EXACTLY what I did!! But we didn't put it down for the winter. It's been up there this entire time lol. What I will say though is we just recently had a string of scary thunderstorms and even had a tornado warning and the light handled it well!

    I noticed this is a Goliath hoop with a Goliath light. I’m curious if the goalrilla light will work on a Goliath hoop? Someone near me has a new one that I want to buy but it’s not the same brand. Curious

    • @Wholesome_Hoops
      @Wholesome_Hoops Місяць тому

      Funny you mentioned that! I had bought the Goalrilla light by mistake and I could not install it mainly because Goalrilla poles are 6 - 8" while this Goaliath one is a 4" one and was not compatible. I then had to buy the light that you see in this review and of course... fit like a glove and was made for it.

    • @IB8681
      @IB8681 5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your answer. It seems like you should be able to slide it down when not in use, and the product description on the site makes you think it’s “easy to lower”. I’ve already purchased the light and it’s sitting in my garage in the box because my wife fears it will be a bit of an eye sore since it sits so tall over the hoop. I kind of agree with her, but really love the lighting it provides. Also wish it had a solar panel on top so you don’t have to run a wire to it.

    • @Wholesome_Hoops
      @Wholesome_Hoops 5 місяців тому

      @ismaelbreton9745 OH yeah, my wife felt the same way lol. A solar panel certainly would've been nice too but you can't deny the LIGHT this thing produces. In fact, it took a little bit of an adjustment to it cause me and my son were seeing mirages during free throws for the first couple times playing with it lol.

    Let's say you don't own the court, How feasible would it be to re-install the light every time you were going to use it? Assuming you left the light itself assembled and just had to install the safety brackets, how long would it take?

    • @Wholesome_Hoops
      @Wholesome_Hoops 5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the question! Honestly, that wouldn't be feasible. This light took us a bit to install to be honest and we needed a ladder and multiple hands to pull it off. If you just wanted to have a light, there are some good stadium lights that are portable from what I've been told that might be better options for you as long as you have access to a nearby outlet to power them. But to install it and uninstall it wouldn't be ideal in my opinion.
