In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov analyzes a super-cool game, a clash between the two legendary world chess champions, Mikhail Tal and Bobby Fischer. It’s a really exciting clash to see because these two are arguably some of the best players in the entire chess history.
Tal was playing White and Fischer was playing Black, and the King’s Indian Defense was played. Both these players play this opening as Black, so they are specialists at it. In the middlegame, Tal started playing strong aggressive moves, and Fischer carelessly chose not to defend against it. You will see how Fischer failed to successfully defend his position and eventually lost the game.

    🤔 Why this course? 👇
You may love attacking, but defending ―like it or not― it’s something you must do! ☺ The important thing is to learn how to defend in a professional manner and not like a patzer. Improvising and making careless moves in a nonchalant way are common practice for amateur players when they are defending. This kind of “defensive” play becomes self-destructive.
Being the defense a neglected subject by common chess trainers, we have created this course to fill that gap. We are providing you with ten weapons to professionally defend yourself in a practical game!
    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
🤔 What can you learn from the course? 👇
It’s quite usual to see that when attacked, a player like this begins to crumble… After trying some “defensive” moves, this just ends speeding up the winning task of the opponent. The fear of not finding what to do makes you lose in a miserable manner! The job of defending is nothing like that! It’s true that an extreme measure could be to run away with your king, but even this must be done in a professional manner.
This course is not about every single defensive idea out there, but about PRACTICAL SKILLS to defend that you can use in your games.

Never seen Fischer play so badly. Or imagined he would play that badly.

Why couldn't the rook on f8 go to f7 to protect the trapped queen? In case Bishop takes Rook, the King could capture it back. Meanwhile, one could neutralize the diagonal of the white's dark-squared Bishop on h4 by proposing an exchange by moving the knight on h7 to g5, no?
