This is why I adore Qui Gon. He knows there is still good in Vader, even when everyone else gave up on him until Luke came along.
In defense of Obi-wan and Yoda, would you still be willing to see much good in Anakin/Vader when you saw a recording of him killing innocent children? And his wife to boot, in Obi-wan's case. Just, hoooh boy, Anakin didn't make it easy is all I'm saying.

For all his talk about how he was not Anakin Skywalker; that he had killed Anakin Skywalker....I get the feeling that there were many times (perhaps every day) that Vader regretted turning to the Dark side.
Yes, he had gained immense power (both in terms of the Force, and in terms of his authority over others) but at what cost?
The love of his life, the new family that he was about to start, half of his body, his friends, his self-respect, and his freedom. He may have chaffed under the restraints of being in the Jedi order, but at least there, he was free to leave at any time.
Now, he was a slave, again. But at least when he was a slave as a child, he had friends whom he could confide in, and let his guard down with. People whom he loved, and was loved by.
And an owner who wasn't a sadist.
A Sith lord has no friends. No real family. And cannot afford to let their guard down, ever.
I think that even Vader would have admitted (at least to himself), that the price which he had paid to gain the power of the Dark side, was too high.
And yet, for all of the power he had, he still couldn't summon the courage to leave the Dark side; until he found his son.
Why?
Was he too ashamed to seek forgiveness, and try to make amends?
Was he afraid that if he let himself get close to anyone, that he would lose them, as he had lost everyone whom he had ever cared about, before?

I don't particularly care how many "likes" or "dislikes" a comment of mine gets.
Life is too short to waste time getting worked up over trivial things like social media popularity.

It was a fear of Sidious at that point. With Vaders augmentations, force lightning would mean a swift death. Which is why when he met Luke, he became content with that fate.

So well written, thought out, and can offer a perspective that not many would have when thinking of darth Vader. I was surprised more people didn’t appreciate it as much as I did. I’m sure it doesn’t matter, but it just comes as a shock. That’s all.

I suppose that being a woman, gives me a slightly different perspective when analyzing characters' emotional states, and social interactions with other characters.
I think that what makes Darth Vader (like Khan, or Magneto) such a compelling villain, is that he is a well-rounded character, with believable motivations, and a complex and sympathetic backstory, and that he acts like a real person would, in each situation.
He doesn't cackle like a maniac and say things such as "Evil shall triumph" ,or do nonsensical things like drowning cute animals solely for the sake of showing us that he's evil.
He genuinely believes that he's doing the right thing;
that bringing "order to the galaxy" will make everything perfect, and that everything that he does in pursuit of that goal, is justified.
Unlike Palpatine.
Palpatine knows that he himself is evil.
He feels no guilt about it; he revels in it.
For him, power is not a means to an end; it IS the end.
He is a puppet-master.
Nothing gives him greater pleasure, than manipulating, hurting, and killing people.
And while Vader certainly quite capable of hurting and killing people, he's generally much more impersonal about it (unless it's someone whom he personally hates).
He is a cold-blooded killer, but he still has the capacity to feel normal healthy, human emotions (he's just buried that part of himself).
Now, Palpatine on the other hand, we know from his backstory, that he was just born a psychopath.
And so we feel no sympathy for him at all..
Nor should we.
Imagine if Anakin was being haunted by his own hand, like it's just walking around like Thing and sometimes just appears infront of Vader to flip him the bird before disappearing.
Like Luke's dream in I think Empire Strikes Back, but it's Anakin fighting his own hand

In Legends the Force Ghost of Qui-Gon was along with Obi-Wan and Yoda to witness Luke Skywalker removing Vader’s mask to show the newly redeemed Anakin Skywalker, the touching father and son moment, and Anakin Skywalker’s death. This all happened on the Second Death Star before Wedge and Lando reached their main reactor to destroy.
sidius knew that anakin power came from love, not hate, thats why he keep vader under a infinite circle of hate , to keep him weak.
vader become more powerfull than sidius when he acted to defend his son, love.
Sidious is a treaturous so and so. Killed his own master. The one who taught him everything. Betrayed his apprentices. Only the most lethal could serve him. There wasn't a place for 3rd best. They were not needed anymore and had to die.
Something Vader didn't get that the other sith did, was training to use the dark side of the force from Sidious before he fought with Obi-Wan. That pre-cyborg Vader was just Anakin confused and releasing rage that had built up inside. Not a trained sith, but a young jedi knight who'd lost his way. Maybe an unfortunate flaw in having masses of raw talent, is that arrogance set in before he gained the experience he really needed... Obi-Wan wasn't even close to competing with Dooku. Anakin beat Dooku but Obi-Wan beat Anakin.
If it wasn't for those injuries - he had actually lost both his arms and legs by that point, and the need for the suit to keep him alive... instead of seeking to prove he was the one to be Sidious' apprentice. Vader would've tried to overthrow him. Sidious was lucky to have a very powerful apprentice with a suit designed to fail under force lightning. For all Vader's power, he was a prisoner of sorts.
Had Anakin never practiced his swordsman skills in sparring with Yoda, Windu, or other elite jedi? Obi-Wan was powerful but some way off the top 5 or 6. If Anakin had sparred with the very best, it should've made him realise he wasn't ready to beat sith lords or top jedi masters for real.
@@BookofGates true. Although we didn't see Dooku as a Jedi, I expect the change was more subtle for him. Anakin was young, he'd lost his mother and thought he was going to lose his secret wife. Part of the problem was that he couldn't speak with his mentors from the Jedi order about this.
He only attacked Windu because he was confused about losing Padmé. Very recently prior to that he was the hero who'd beaten a Sith lord and saved his master's life. Then after the confusion and other frustrations had built up too much inside, one rash moment of panic and he was a traitor and accessory to murder of one of the grand masters.
Palpatine/Sidious had been grooming Anakin for years and this moment was the clincher. The relief of feeling that Palpatine was going to fix everything politically and help him save Padmé, was enough for Vader as he'd just been renamed to immediately go on a relentless murder spree. Blanking out what he was actually doing, convinced he was the only noble soldier of the chancellor. Once he'd given into the dark side completely, he was utterly insane in no time.

If he had just confessed everything to Obiwan, about his visions of padme dying, and later about how Palpatine promised him the power to save her, Obiwan could have helped him. His secrecy as well as his fear of losing Padme, and his anger at losing Ahsoka sealed his fate

Dooku was a better duellist and he was way more powerful in the force than Obi-Wan (you know when Obi-Wan was a kid no master chosed him to be his padawan because he was sooo weak in the force.. there is a story how did he end up with Qui-Gon read some books)
2) yes, Obi-Wan was the master of Soresu.. and Anakin was the master of Djem-So (if you can understand it better: Soresu is the perfect defensive form and Djem-So is the perfect offensive form so they are literally eachother's counterpart) and as they trained together they knew eachother's every move, that is why they were so good team and that is why it was so hard to either of them to kill the other.. if Vader would not have been arrogant then he would have won.. Soresu is about being deffensive until your enemy makes a mistake then win.. Vader gave an opportunity to Obi-Wan to win and he took it
If Vader was smart. He'd clone himself a new body. Sidious wouldn't stand a chance. He simply wouldn't but plots and blah
I understand clones as a physical form but why would the force be strong with a clone - their not a real life form.
To me a clone of a Jedi would be like a version of them if they were not a Jedi. Just regular with no powers.
Cloning force sensitive ppl wasnt possible at the time and/or Vader wouldnt've had the chance to do it secretly either way.

Why doesn't Yoda or Obi-Wan just keep haunting all the bad guys for fun? They seem to be able to show up whenever they want as a ghost, so they should just keep trolling bad guys.

lil trivia: commander Karbin was a commander during the clone wars and was seriously injured because of a ship crash and spend i think abt 2 decades on life support and in the final 2 years on being on LS he got his upgrades wich where inspired by grievous
Have you read Darth Vader graphic novel? In it, they hint that it was Vader gave the plain to the Rebeles because as you said he hated being number 2 and Tarkin was number one. And would remove anyone or ANYTHING that gets in his way. In fact, he almost warned Tarkin... " Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet, or even a whole system, is insignificant next to the power of the Force."
It would make sense as to why Vader climbed in to his own tye fighter in ANH to confront the rebels. I reckon his mind set was "If the rebels succeed in blowing that thing up I don't intend to be on it" Good timing Vader.
But why did Vader always want to stay loyal to Palpatine?
Because he had nothing else to live for until Luke
OBI-WAN KENOBI He also secretly wanted to overthrow him. Both as revenge and ambition. The inviability of the apprentice betraying the master is what the Sith are all about. In Vader’s case it’s both that as well to get back at Palpatine for manipulating him into betraying his friends and depriving him of his life.
He didn't he wanted to overthrow him when Luke joins him and he wanted to rule the galaxy together with his son
After Vader realizes he could not resurrect Padme, he remained as the Emperor’s puppet as punishment for himself, and the horrible he had done. Once Vader found out Padme and died, he instantly knew that Palpatine betrayed him, and he regretted everything that he had done. Vader was no longer corrupted by the dark side. The dark side never fed off of his greed or arrogance. It fed off of his anger for himself, which is why he is so powerful.

Qui Gon Jinn is the father figure that Anakin needed and like I said if Qui Gon had survived his fight with Darth Maul and Qui Gon killed him then Darth Vader wouldn't exist and the galaxy wouldn't be in turmoil and Padme Amidala would be still alive in the flesh and Qui Gon would also train Anakin Skywalker
And I believe that Qui Gon Jinn is Anakin Skywalker's real Jedi Master
Basically Palpatine was in awe of young Annakin before he became Vader, he was young, agile and with extra training he would be leaping around like Darth Maul. Vader was powerful but Palpatine still couldn't forgive Vader for allowing himself to become mutilated by Obi Wan. To Palps, Vader would never be the sith lord he really wanted him to be. He could force push, freeze, choke etc with the best of them as he proved in Rogue One but like a knight in armour on the battlefield, you just look clumsy and clunky when wielding a weapon. Lets face it, a complete human Annakin leaping around like Maul but with far superior force abilities than Maul.....that would be the ultimate Sith apprentice and thats why Vader never really % 100 cut it with Palps. He was always dispensible, Palps proved that when he tried to get the younger more agile Luke on side and kill Vader off.

I thought the reason why Vader wasn't able to achieve his fall potential was because Sideus intentionally made Vader weaker by designing his suit a certain way, so Vader couldn't surpass him.

Anakin should have at least somehow escape unharmed from the battle with Obi-Wan, go kill Palpatine because he failed to protect Padme and then ruling the galaxy as a Sith Lord. That would have been a much better story, an old man is no match for the 20.000+ midi-chlorians of Anakin.
