Honest question. Would it be ok to think Anakin did bring balance to the force? There were an entire (for lack of a better term) race of Sith, until bane created the rule of 2. Only Anakin had his memory wiped of Mortis, and even then it was just back to the point right before the son showed him the future. I think that afterwards they say something to Rex like “you wouldn’t believe us if we told you”. Also, Yoda references Anakin’s encounter with Qui-Gon directly in his arc at the end of season 6. Anakin tells Yoda that he believes it was an illusion.
Qui-Gon Jinn is definitely one of my favourite Star Wars characters ever! He was killed off way too soon but made sense in terms of the overall story. The phantom menace is probably my favourite out of all 6 movies George Lucas himself originally created.

It occurred to me recently that Qui Gon could have survived. Darth Maul was cut in half, and Anakin was saved through medical science, but it seems to me that Qui Gon was the kind of Jedi who revered the living force so much that he would not have wanted any intervention to prevent his death.
@@kennymarket2428 that’s not necessarily true depending on the story there was Jedi and other force users that healed or could heal. Or just the use of medical science like right away. People live a long time if they are gut shot. He was gut stabbed. Takes a long to die in reality from such a wound. But he may have been paralyzed. But medical science of that day would have been able to give him the ability to walk. But like I said the living force and qui gon respected was tied to more nature than science I guess.
Yeah, the wound should be at least partially cauterized. For movie purposes though, Maul is probably capable of finding a precise spot to strike to ensure a slow death. Probably blew through some major arteries, ex. the mesenteric.
Yes but qui gon jinn was stabbed by a lightsaber. People who are gut shot don’t have stuff the temperature of molten lava eating away at their guts. Judging by the rate qui gon burns through a metal door with it, half of a persons gut would be incinerated in an instant.
In Empire strikes back, Vader talks with Luke about destroying the emperor and ruling the galaxy as father and son. Some could see it as a ploy to tempt Luke into the dark side. But in Return of the Jedi, the last time we hear Vader say to Luke "You don't know the power of the dark side" sounded to me like he was warning Luke about the Sith and the power Sidious had over him.
I always saw it that way too. Basically Vader was saying: “Sorry son, I’m a light sabre swinging battle droid. I can’t take the bugger by myself. Need your help.”
I feel like Qui-Gon would not have tried to pull Anakin from the dark side, only try to stop him hurting too many people. I believe that he would have understood what the prophecy truly meant - where most only saw that the chosen one would destroy the sith, he knew that both the Jedi and sith had to be destroyed to bring balance.
What if the prophecy was only using the term destruction metaphorically and by bringing balance it meant bringing peace between the two sides by finding a compromise of ideals
the dark side is the disbalance in the force as stated by George Lucas himself. lightsiders maintain the balance in the Force by acting as instruments of its will, whereas darksiders throw it out of balance by making *it* an instrument of *their* will. however Darth Vader's facilitating or directly being responsible for the purging of the Jedi of his time may in fact also be seen as being part of his bringing balance to the Force as they had all fallen under the influence of the dark side in two ways. Firstly by being more concerned with protecting the interests of the Galactic Republic, and as such being attached to it despite their own injunctions to shun all attachment, rather than meditating and acting upon the will of the Force. And secondly by shunning more or less all study of the dark side due to *their fear* of its seductive nature, despite their preaching that it is fear precisely that is what leads to the dark side.
Qui-Gon would have been the perfect and best suited mentor for Anakin had he lived. Because they both have more in common as maverick Jedi who don’t always agree with the Jedi Council.
I'd sure like to see a Part 3 of Qui gon training Anakin. You had some really cool plot ideas in the first 2 videos. Interested in where you have the qui gon dooku fight plotted out to go. Even if you don't make a video on it or share any of it with anybody you should finish the story if you haven't already. You have good ideas and that should never be wasted.
The thing about Vader hearing Qui-Gon in the Temple is he must have realized that truly was Qui-Gon because he NEVER heard him say those words, the first part yes but the "He will bring balance",never. Anakin was never there to hear Qui-Gon tell Obi-Wan "He is the chosen one. He will bring balance." This is a flaw and is probably to be Retconned at some point in time.
He said it to him in a vision from the animated clone wars "you are the chosen one and you must be tested." It's a very brief scene that shows Qui Gonn and Anakin on Dagobah
Qui-gon tells the councile after returning from Tatooine with Anakin "I have encountered a vergence in the force" to which Mace Windo inquires "around a person?" and so the the words he is hearing is what was told to the council in The Phantom Menace (approx 1:25 on Disney +)
0:30 He looks like he's holding Anakin hostage and is going to activate his lightsaber through the kid's neck if he doesn't get a helicopter and $1 million in unmarked bills.
Can someone animate a final confrontation between Anakin and Darth Vader, just before Anakin picks up Palpatine and gets him into the shaft. In Vader’s mind, Anakin is resurrected for the last time, while Vader is in disbelief, he fights Anakin, believing he will destroy Anakin like he did the last time, until finally, Anakin defeats Darth Vader, redeeming himself and saving his son from death, finally fulfilling The Prophecy
You should focus on the living God, repent and follow Jesus! Repent doesn’t mean to confess your sins but to stop doing them altogether. Likewise only people that follow and obey the Lord will get into heaven - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36.
Then that’s not balance. No, it doesn’t matter what George Lucas has said. George Lucas also said that Boba Fett died in the sarlacc pit, there was never a Jedi - Sith war and lightsabers are too heavy to do complex fights with.
Its telling that Qui-Gon reached out to Anakin following Vader's first encounter with Luke. Vader already sensed something was different about the boy even before he learned Luke's identity. Its possible Qui-Gon Jinn knew that that was the moment to breathe upon whatever embers of Anakin remained alive within Darth Vader. Perhaps he sensed that awakening what eventually turned into obsession was the only way for Anakin to finally triumph over the monster he had become.
Qui-gon knew the order was turning into blind zealots, he was one of the last of the reasonable Jedis of the order. I’m almost certain Anakin wouldn’t have fallen to the dark side if he was Qui-gons padewan
For anyone that questioned how Qui-Gon could have a fully formed Force Ghost, outside of Mortis. Why would he not be able to? He has enough knowledge to speak through the Force, keeping his consciousness. He can still keep learning. If anything you could spend eternity learning more of the Force. The physical realm no longer limits you.
Lot's of people saying sith can't be spirits, I'd suggest everyone learn more about Revan. He redeedms a dark lord after he himself returns to the light.
It´s weird that the Jedi have all of these rules about who they will train, but what are the rules about ejecting someone from training. How was Anakin given a pass after killing an entire tribe of Tuscans? That seems like a clear violation of everything a Jedi stands for and you can´t clean up that error. They didn´t want to accept him precisely for that reason and when he fulfilled what they predicted....using the skills they taught him, they just let it go.
I’m pretty sure that the Jedi council did not know. Not only that but they ignored a lot of things in their service to the republic, especially during the Clone war. I’m pretty sure Anakin only shared what he did with Palpatine.
I thought they’d explained that Qui Gon hadn’t completed the force ghost stuff so could only create a visual form through strenuous effort, meaning he’d be closed off for a while after manifesting a ghost
It's also deep when you realize that QuiGon believes in the Living Force. A balance of Light and Dark that creates a true ecosystem. He understands evil must exist and that it is the battle that levels the scales. That the rigid rules of the Council and the Order were going against the Will of the Force. It's why he defied them on the regular
But Qui-Gon does use the vergance in the force line when he first speaks to the council about anakin, and Obi tells anakin that dreams will pass when he's telling anakin not to dwell on his nightmares about Shmu I think these were just memories, in both cases
5:28 Is that true? After the Mortis Arch; Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka, all had their memories wiped after that event. I remember Anakin having his memory wiped from the Father, when the Son gifted him visions of his future but I didn’t realize that all three had their memories wiped from that event. Where was that was confirmed?
When he says the line about a vergence in the force it’s from phantom menace when he’s talking to the council trying to get them to train Anakin so it can all just be moments from the past. It’s the first time they show Yoda and Mace I think so it should be easy to check it out, it’s how he initiates the discussion about Anakin after talking about the mission they were on. I only bring it up because it seems like that was the deciding factor in your opinion that Qui Gon was present and speaking to Vader.
I agree that what Vader was hearing were more like echoes of the past rather than intelligent comments. To build on what was already stated in the video, "I have encountered a vergence in the Force," is what Qui-Gon said to the counsel when first reporting about Anakin. "He is the Chosen One. He will bring balance," is what he said to Obi-Wan before dying. "Dreams pass in time," is something Obi-Wan said to Anakin when the latter said he doesn't sleep well anymore because of his dreams of his mother.
If I may, I think that Qui Gon Jinn was able to talk to only the Jedi portion that might have been left in Anakin. Qui Gon was a bit of an enigma. He was a bit of a "radical" in the Jedi Order. He like Master Fey (whom he actually harbored feelings of love for) was an adherent of "let the force guide my will" which was not regarded as very popular among force users prior to 30 or so BBY. Most force users were of the mind that the force was either something to meditate and learn upon (Jedi) or controlled and forced (Sith). And Qui Gon, whose master was one of the "lost 20" being Count Dooku who was himself once a great and honorable Jedi who was padawan to an even greater Jedi Grandmaster being Yoda himself. Qui Gon remarked saying he respected Dooku and even believed in some of his tenants, but he was a harsh master and may have pushed Qui Gon to even question whether he was really following the will of the force? Vader knew that Qui Gon had struggles and was often questioning the Jedi Council (much to the council's admonishment) hence he was still only a Knight, when he should have been a Master. Just like Anakin felt upon his ascension to the Jedi Council, when Mace Windu conveyed Anakin's seat to the council, but not the title of Master ,as he had not yet earned that title. It did not help the guilt he felt over Ashoka Tano leaving the Order as she was his padawan. Since she did not become a Knight, he could not be declared a master. This added to his growing anger and as as for Qui Gon, it only added to HIS frustration with the council. So in a way, Qui Gon faced the same struggles as Anakin/Vader and was held down for his beliefs, just as Vader felt by the council and his pain for his friends and Ashoka.
Edit: So as far as Qui Gon speaking to Anakin ,he tried to reach the "good" left in Anakin. Which might have triggered a lingering doubt that was often punished by Emperor Palatine as "weakness". But Qui Gon was not strong enough, it took an even stronger Jedi in the form of Vader's son Luke, to reach thet portion Qui Gon could not reach. Even Obi Wan at the end realized this.
@@theapexfighter8741 Alright that is my bad, Qui Gon Jinn had feelings for Tahl and that is legends. But, his style of "the will of the force" IS similar to Master Fay.
To be honest, it’s hard not to empathise with Vaders character. Raised in slavery, mother murdered and manipulated from being a young child by a trusted father figure. Even when Vader often uses his powers to humiliate people or kill them for the smallest slight there’s a certain insecurity that comes off of it. He’s genuinely just a very broken man. Obviously, that doesn’t invalidate or legitimise his actions but it actually paints him more as a child lashing out over and over as opposed to this dark, looming monster.
Master Qui Gon Jin does represent the calm saviour archetype; a man following the path of transcendence and seeing that the order meant to teach such had become stagnated and dogmatized, someone who is there for the ones who were unjustly treated and was there for them, acting proactively and defensively for them rather than becoming an aggressor. The path of transcendence offers the possibility to remain deeply influential after passing away of which the saviour archetype fulfills, wherein Qui Gon Jin was the first force user ever to discover this. Not following the rules strictly is part of this saviour archetype and is willing to do something different when the will beyond themselves/Force asks for it. They also made the path of transcendence easier by having walked it first for all others prior. All of this perfectly encapsulates Qui Gon Jin.
Qui Gon never gave up on Anakin. Despite his horrific crimes, he still saw the goodness in heart heart, deep beneath Vader's armor. Qui Gon never stopped being his father.
I didnt know everyones memories of Mortis were wiped. After seeing the episode for the first time i just assumed they all agreed it would be pointless to tel rex and the others what happened, but told the council who ultimately decided there was nothing they could do
The memory wasn't fully erased after mortis, but it felt rather like a dream for them and no one could actually tell if it happened or not, eventually Anakin told the council about it and again Yoda after he heard Qui Gons voice as well. So sidious is actually pretty smart to just sit on his force nexus planet in the unknown region, simply controlling clones or other pawns like snoke using the force. Not only is he more powerful while there, but he’s able to control the pawns better. Makes you wonder what would happen if they were able to build robotic bodies that could manipulate the force.
watching Darth Vader in the movies sometimes i used to wonder if he wasn't struggling suppressing Anakin Skywalker. that all it took was to see Luke being on the floor suffering from Darth Sidious's Force lightning to "come back" to the light side
Out of everything in this vid the part that stood out the most to me was the image of obi wan, Yoda, and qui Gon looking over Anakin and Luke. Yes I said Anakin because he turned back into Anakin at that point he wasn't Vader. I still wonder now what all of them thought about the situation
I thought it was common knowledge that Qui Gon reached out to Anakin whilst he was killing the younglings? In Attack Of The Clones when it cuts away from Anakin killing the Tusken Raiders to Yoda meditating, you hear a voice that says 'Anakin!' 'Anakin!' and the voice is Qui Gon Jinn
Obi Wan: You were supposed to bring balance to the force not leave it in darkness Vader: Ok but like the Sith was easy to get rid of there's only 2. The Jedi were the hard ones to get rid of
ACTAULYL, intresting lore fact i learned: the area of tattoine where obi wan lived, near the western dune sea....IS a force nexxus! So it makes sense qui gon could appear as a ghost in that area. (now as this was established BEFORE disney, i am not sure if this is a FACTOR, but..i doubt its a coindence.)
"Only a sith deals in absolutes" *proceeds to deal in absolutes and tries to kill his brother* this is why all the jedi (even Kenobi) were wrong, they were corrupt and blinded by righteous arrogance, this is why Luke's order (legends) was better and made more sense than the new canon.
So I was just thinking. You know the chosen one is supposed to bring balance back to the force. The dark side of the force is weaker than the light side right? So could anakins destiny possibly have been to fall to the dark side to bring more power to the dark side and in the end bringing balance to the force by bringing down the numbers of light side users to make them equal to the dark side? The scales were weighted on the light side so didn’t anakin level out the scales by giving his power to the dark side and diminishing the power of the light?
Isn't it crazy how we had to wait 23 years to see a major plot point? And furthermore becoming one with the force was not expanded on in the sequel trilogy whatsoever.

@@RickySpanish12344 so there has been said alot about the legit criticism on the jedi esp during the republic, being a mere tool to a corrupt state etc pp but in all you say about anakin i only see character flaws and weakness. i just cringe over him being such a 3edgy5me character and disliked most pieces of his dialogue in the prequels. prefer the anakin of clone wars for sure.
EDIT; also wtf is that padme anakin arch anyways
Honest question. Would it be ok to think Anakin did bring balance to the force? There were an entire (for lack of a better term) race of Sith, until bane created the rule of 2. Then Jedi out numbered them. Anakin reducing the Jedi thus created a balance in the force. Just a thought that’s been on my mind.
Technically that was all Palpatine. He orchestrated the clone wars , he created order 66. Anakin was just a tool in his game
@@SevenPr1me Still a very crucial tool and possibly Anakin's destiny. I do believe balance in the force means not to much light or dark. Its very possible Anakin participating in Order 66 was part of the chosen one prophecy...just one omitted/misread from the Jedi.
I guess in a way he did. He helped destroy the Jedi during Order 66 and then destroyed the Sith by killing Palpatine on the Death Star II. The destructions of both sides brought a sort of balance, even if it didn't last for very long.
That's a good question and good reasoning Randall; I've read the other replies and I'm leaning towards what @Lonely Chameleon said. Anyway, that is a good question, hope The Stupendous Wave covers this topic.
@@vintage2653 that’s the way I was thinking of it. Maybe him be the one to balance the force was exactly what he did. If he “eradicates” the sith, as they thought the prophecy to be. Then it’s completely light, thus creating imbalance. So, him participating and practically giving Sidious confidence to give Order 66 was all apart of the balance of the force.
Qui-Gon jinn might be one of my favorite Jedi in the franchise. He was so different from everyone else including the council.

Qui-Gon's relationship with Anakin is beautiful. Qui-Gon loved his very much. He tried to helped him several time. I like this story :) He was right about Anakin. Vader was just another obstacle. Part of Jedi training. He always loved him :) May the Force be with you too :)
"I should have just let Maul splatter you on that ball of sand..." - Qui-Gon Jinn
Anakin tells Yoda that he believes it was an illusion.
nah anakin remembers mortis, only the part where he was shown the future was wiped, plus he believes qui gon was an illusion, not mortise itself
Anikan needed a father who would put him in his place but also comfort him in failure
Qui-Gon Jinn is definitely one of my favourite Star Wars characters ever! He was killed off way too soon but made sense in terms of the overall story. The phantom menace is probably my favourite out of all 6 movies George Lucas himself originally created.
Your standards are pretty low if Phantom Menace is your favorite. It's pretty universally panned by 99% of Star Wars fans as easily being the worst out of the six films Lucas made, though that wasn't due to Qui-Gon or Obi-wan being bad. Attack of the Clones is easily the second worst. That said, my favorite is a tie between Revenge of the Sith and Empire Strikes Back.

0:09 "don't say that master, you're the closest thing i have to a father" --anakin talking to Obi-Wan. I mean Obi-Wan was more like a brother but he was definitely a paternal figure of some kind to anakin
It occurred to me recently that Qui Gon could have survived. Darth Maul was cut in half, and Anakin was saved through medical science, but it seems to me that Qui Gon was the kind of Jedi who revered the living force so much that he would not have wanted any intervention to prevent his death.
He would have needed to us the dark side to save himself. Darth Maul and Darth Vader used hatred to stay alive.
I took a shot every time you said Qui-Gon. I'm now very drunk
Basically Vader was saying:
“Sorry son, I’m a light sabre swinging battle droid. I can’t take the bugger by myself. Need your help.”
I love this idea that Vader was a separate entity and the next challenge Anakin had to overcome. That puts a whole new perspective on it.
Thays not what balance meant according to George Lucas
Balance was never meant to have the Jedi and Sith be destroyed the force is in balance when it’s only in the light
Sith can never achieve the level of Englightment in terms of becoming a force ghost after death
Qui-Gon's wisdom and leadership are top tier.
The weird part is that Vader considered Luke his son even though Luke was the son of Anakin
Qui-Gon: "Anakin? I'm disappointed. You failed me."
Anakin: "I am... not your failure, Qui-Gon."

Qui Gon is easily one of my favorite characters.
You should focus on the living God, repent and follow Jesus! Repent doesn’t mean to confess your sins but to stop doing them altogether. Likewise only people that follow and obey the Lord will get into heaven - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36.
Anikin would only become Darth Vader if Qui-Gon died.
Qui-Gon was right. Anakin did bring balance. He killed Palpatine at the end as Vader and the Force over threw the Dark side.
Then that’s not balance.
No, it doesn’t matter what George Lucas has said.
George Lucas also said that Boba Fett died in the sarlacc pit, there was never a Jedi - Sith war and lightsabers are too heavy to do complex fights with.
Yes i believe that too. This and his birth. He was born while plagious was making experients.
You can very clearly hear Qui Gon’s voice calling out to Anakin in AOTC while Yoda is meditating. This was apparent even in the movie
If Qui-Gon Jin had survived, Anakin would have never turned to the dark side. QGJ would have saved his mom, thus preventing his fall.
Qui-gon knew the order was turning into blind zealots, he was one of the last of the reasonable Jedis of the order.
I’m almost certain Anakin wouldn’t have fallen to the dark side if he was Qui-gons padewan
Qui Gon Jinn is the father that anakin never had.
I think that would leave anakin to become a sith the quickest. That would do palpatine job.
I thought they’d explained that Qui Gon hadn’t completed the force ghost stuff so could only create a visual form through strenuous effort, meaning he’d be closed off for a while after manifesting a ghost
He could like speak to people but could appear
i wish anakin would had an what if happy ending at clone wars
In AOTC, you can hear Qui-God’s voice yelling out to Anakin when Yoda is meditating.
WOW I always wondered who was yelling "Anakin! ANAKIN! NOOOOOOO!!"
In the novel Rogue Planet. Anakin hears Qui Gin as a child.
But Qui-Gon does use the vergance in the force line when he first speaks to the council about anakin, and Obi tells anakin that dreams will pass when he's telling anakin not to dwell on his nightmares about Shmu
I think these were just memories, in both cases
Their mind wasn't wiped, u said it close to end of video, anakin told yoda about the mortis arc events after returning so he remembers everything

Know only the lightside and you will not be able to recognize evil. Yoda learned this although too late to save them from Palpatine.
He never harbored feelings for Fey, they never met each other, it was another Jedi woman. Fey is in legends and is not canon
@@theapexfighter8741 Alright that is my bad, Qui Gon Jinn had feelings for Tahl and that is legends. But, his style of "the will of the force" IS similar to Master Fay.
@@deathstrike yes, it’s similar if not the exact same
To be honest, it’s hard not to empathise with Vaders character.
“ for the duration of his death”

I actually did qui-gon's part of this exact scene for my monolog project in 11th or 12th grade Drama class.
Qui-Gon knew
Sidious was not a father figure to Anakin
Qui Gon never gave up on Anakin. Despite his horrific crimes, he still saw the goodness in heart heart, deep beneath Vader's armor.
Qui Gon never stopped being his father.

Id love to see a comic of Darth Vader having a full conversation with Qui Gon’s force ghost
watching Darth Vader in the movies sometimes i used to wonder if he wasn't struggling suppressing Anakin Skywalker. that all it took was to see Luke being on the floor suffering from Darth Sidious's Force lightning to "come back" to the light side
I never understood why anakin never just bought his mom like jedi work doesn't pay?
Obi Wan: You were supposed to bring balance to the force not leave it in darkness
Vader: Ok but like the Sith was easy to get rid of there's only 2.
You like a moral relativity. Are you a homosexual?
So I was just thinking. You know the chosen one is supposed to bring balance back to the force. The dark side of the force is weaker than the light side right? So could anakins destiny possibly have been to fall to the dark side to bring more power to the dark side and in the end bringing balance to the force by bringing down the numbers of light side users to make them equal to the dark side? The scales were weighted on the light side so didn’t anakin level out the scales by giving his power to the dark side and diminishing the power of the light?
The times Quigon talked to Vader: "So, Quigons ghost met Anikin blah, blah, blah......"
2:09 That wind in cosmos xD
In a way Qui-Gon Jinn was right. Vader was something for Anakin to overcome in the end. It just took Luke for him to overcome it too close to the end.
Isn't it crazy how we had to wait 23 years to see a major plot point? And furthermore becoming one with the force was not expanded on in the sequel trilogy whatsoever.
