Pool Heaters sure have their share of issues. When you have a Nice Pool, you want to be able to use it whenever you want and Not worry about Temps. 👍
A heat pump don’t accommodate like that.
Am I crazy, or was the TXV catch screen in backwards? shouldnt the bottom of the net be the other way around? I.E. going with the direction of the flow?

it doesn't make a difference, as long as the open end is sealed/brazed to the tubing, so schmutz cannot get past.
Tx’s are you great when they work🤷🏻♂️an better response, then a fixed orifice but also more problematic too.. Touchy touchy touchy to re adjust…. If I might inject a hypothetical cause of malfunction here.. on the TX the screen looked by the video Dark in color. I would guess she had some moisture in it an TX’s Definitely do not like moisture. The sudden drop in vacuum could be water boiling off or a possible trapped gas bubble in the compressor oil 🤷🏻♂️ but regardless she is up an running great! But I’ll lay my money on moisture inside the system….. I seen it a lot on walk in’s . I think it’s the constant heat/cool and we all have heard “ ohhhh no no one ever leaves the walk in door open” 😂😂 sure right!!! But nice job boss!!!

Maybe…. But TXV. Was definitely stuck closed
filter dryer being unidirectional is OK since there's no reversing valve, because it's a "heat" only heat pump. using a bidirectional filter is fine and wont hurt anything.
I don't think any common pool heater made is/was capable of cooling the water.

Is there any chance that the txv adjustment was all the way closed? I assume thats something you would check before replacing it?

dont forget to mark the distributor alignment before removing it so you dont have to set the timing when it goes back on....
