Thanks for the review! I just picked one of these up for a desk I'm building for a child. I think it will work but I have to say that the movement of the ratchet is VERY stiff. Perhaps that is to prevent dropping the tabletop when you're bringing it down but it takes some effort to open it up. I'd prefer if it was easier to lift and lower.
I would love a drafting table top like that on an electric sit-stand desk frame! Add a way to mount my dual monitor setup behind, and a slide out keyboard tray. Maybe do a clear top for a light box...
Have been researching and thinking up the same thing. My current plan is to use resin for the lightbox area for hardness and bond to the wood top. I want the angle to go up 70-80 degrees so i can use it as an easel as well. I’m looking at some audio engineer designs more so than drafting tables for a base because most of the drafting tables have shin or knee banging stability beams in the middle so a massive tabletop can pivot at the center. These piano style hinges mean i dont have to lift up the whole table. So the front half can pivot up for drawing and painting against, but the back portion stays level as a monitor mount. Under the table top/light box, there would be a sliding tray area for my synth and keyboard. I’m on the fence for how i approach that. I’m also not 100% on if i want to do a pico projector for the monitor rather than trying to figure out how i want to hang and move around monitors for a standing or sitting position along with moving the mouse and keyboard. A projector is just way easier to account for, and you can use it for tracing or backdrops, kinda like you would a light box. They’re also relatively cheap if you get a fanless pico projector, but the downside is you’re limited to 1080p res on all of them, even the best ones out right now, and most of the affordable pico projectors are even worse at 720p.

Hello Marty. Thank you for the review, it so helpful. I need more help. I am making my drafting table / easel so I need a longer piece for it to work. I contacted the manufacturer and they said this is all they make. I kept looking and found a similar mechanism and the same happened. So I’m going to ask my best friend, that works metal to help me make what I need. But I can’t really see the details of the plastic piece and what is inside it. I thought I could buy a couple of pieces and use that part on my mechanism. The problem is I live in Mexico City and they don’t send it here. So I was wondering if you could help me figure out what that looks like. Does it have any springs or is it just gravity that makes it work? What does the end of the metal piece inside the plastic look like? I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance
did you build that? how is it? Even I am thinking of doing that. Can you please put a video of how you did it? so that it will help ppl like me. Thanks in advance. 😊

So i need of ratcheting tilting table?
how many kg of pressure can it bear sir ? I want to make an adjustable sofa.
Sorry, I don't know the weight bearing capacity, but I don't think it would be sufficient for a sofa.
could you out a link for the website that sells these?
Do a Google search for "Rok Hardware drawing/drafting table ratcheting support" and you'll find lots of places to buy it. I bought mine from Amazon.
Yeah that still scares the shit out of me with kids around so I'm gonna get some springy hinges to reaaaaally counteract gravity as much as I can.
