The way Double Tap works almost reminds me of Pummeling Style from Pathfinder 1e, a Feat that made it optimal for every single melee build to grab Improved Unarmed Strike early on in their progression, no matter what weapon they were wielding. Pummeling Style was a Style (Basically the precursor to 2e's Stances) Feat that made you roll all your melee attacks, then combine the damage rolls of all hits into a lump sum... This meant that you could easily overpower Damage Reduction on any melee build (In a related note: Ranged had it's own version called Clustered Shots).
This was fun! I'm sure if I'll ever play Starfinder (I'm mostly a fantasy guy) but it's cool to see the design behind the classes and how it might open up new design in PF!
This was fun. I was not really hyped for SF2e, but this overview really changed my mind. Are you planning to make videos on the other classes in the playtest?
Operative gives me pf1 slayer vibes, in the sense that it feels like a rogue who got extra combat power in exchange for skills related abilities. I'm a big fan of the striker operative in general the only weird thing is it gives you expert proficiency in melee unarmed strikes but doesn't seem to let you use them for your feats, and the agile melee weapon selection in the playtest is kinda lacking.
Oh, that fucking blows, i guess the idea is to do some gun fu, dual wield guns and melee??? also guess you could use pathfinder weapons too BUT that still sucks. It should let you use unarmed strikes too.
@@alphads2000 Could very easily just be a case of missing text, it's a playtest afterall. I doubt allowing it would break anything especially if they keep the agile requirement.

Love your content Lex! Leaving a comment for the algorithm!

I'm hoping to! And likely some more in-depth stuff once I'm no longer sick.
Bless you! I need more help understanding these classes!
tactical barrage is crazy for a class that gets legendary proficiency at like 13 for its guns

I think a nature focused subclass similar to the Infiltrator would get closer to the Ranger class fantasy than the actual Ranger class
