Can you use direct mode on ps4? Because with the g5 after you unplug it from your pc. The direct mode will be turned off. Its resets the direct mode settings when its unplugged.
know that the mid and treble of the G6 are ear piercing, expect to do a lot of tweaking with the EQ on PC I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it will take time to tweak and adapt it to whatever you're listening as the G6 sounds very different from a motherboard headphone output or even an internal card like the Sounblaster Zxr (that I have took me a few days to find the right settings for the G6 but now I can finally remove my zxr)
I have one question. I can get the g5 for 100€. And the g6 for 150€. I will only use this dac on my ps4 for my mmx 300. Is there even a diffenrence for me
It's basically a compact X7, the X7 can of course do more and provide a tad more "power", but the G6 amp is very very detailed and can power pretty much any headset you can think of. -Whiteshadow
it's not really "better" I've got both connected right now and have spent one day as in 8hrs+ probably more than most youtubers comparing both, the G6 has sharper and more precise sound for sure but I wouldn't say it sounds better, don't expect a plug and play upgrade, expect something different, what the G6 can do if you don't mind tweaking your sound all the time is enhance tracks or games that aren't that great in the 1st place, no or little tweaking the Zxr sounds better, the G6 gives ear bleeding razor edge sharp highs screaming in your headphones took me 2 days to "bear" it it was awful at 1st try, wouldn't use it without the PC software equalizer but after 2-3 days I'm starting to like it more and more will probably switch to the G6 sooner or later I don't want an internal card anymore, ruins my case airflow
@@TRUgamingllc just for future reference i found out it can play xbox and pc audio simultaneously. Just with usb audio from pc and optical from xbox. Incase anyone else asks!

This sound card does not support coms on Xbox because you have to connect it via optical cable, but it would still be a good choice for headphones like that because of how hi res this card is.
I got an HD 58x Jubilee as a Christmas gift and they're wonderful but DAC/AMP wise I'm using an old X-fi Surround 5.1 USB card (I definitely wasn't prepared for this kind of gift). I had the X7 in mind but the G6 seems better with the Xamp feature. Some say I should get the new Fiio K3, others say Audioengine D1 or Shiit Stack, SMSL M3...I'm pretty much lost lol
If u plan to use a modmic attached to your 580 and seek for QoL u have 3 choices Mayflower ArcDac,Gsx 1000 or 1200,SoundlasterX G6,(Forget the X7).This 3 Dac/amp combo have Mic input. id recommend the Arc dac by mayflower who is not taged "gaming" but perform extremly well when it come to soundstage and imaging. I've been scouring the internet looking for a solution that can run off xbox one and still use game chat. I was unsuccessful from checking threads but I actually found a way to get it to work on my own running a mic to controller and headphones separate through optical to amp. (Qnother way is to run both direct from controller with y splitter splitting to direct mic and other to amp. Yes its wire heavy but if you are creative you can find a comfortable way to cable manage. If you want less cords run it through you phones xbox live app) The one thing stopping me from buying this is... the drop on audio quality with optical... I am fairly curious what the extent of quality drop really is...
@@TRUgamingllc I paused the video because I'm at work and came back to finish it... and you already replied... just for that interaction I'm subscribing... but isnt optical not able to process 32 bit? I've had the GSX 1000, overpriced average gear, my ASUS Xonar U7 that I was replacing for the GSX 1000 WAS LEAGUES better for surround sound thanks to Dolby Home Theater surround technolog. Dolby home theater also has a really good equalizer, which the GSX 1000 lacks (it just got 4 very mediocre presets, not customizable). Overall, the GSX 1000 is the worst USB soundcard for the price, the product itself looks really good, premium quality looks, but the audio itself is mediocre to poor. I ended up returning the GSX 1000 and kept my ASUS Xonar U7 until I tried the Sound BlasterX G6, which is way better than the Xonar U7, and leagues better than the GSX 1000
@@Kouzark Yes, I have the SoundBlasterX G6 with the Sennheiser PC363d right now, and it works great. I'm personally not a fan of the EQ on the SoundBlasterX, and I still think the best EQ I've tried is the Dolby Theater one within the Xonar U7 drivers (The original, not the MKII), but the surround and 3d positioning is objectively superior on the SoundBlasterX, and so is the audio quality.
After a few days, I will buy a new headphone because I wanna jumping to another level of music so Beyerdynamic DT 990 250ohm I think its best option for me (from inexperienced person view ) why? because it's a lot cheaper than other professional headphones, someone advises me about it said it's the best option for Listening music better and I saw the dt990 in many studios for a lot's of professional musicians and heard its need amp to run in a laptop like my laptop(Acer predator 15 gaming ) what is the best amp for me? for person want to listen to music better, play FPS games and watch a movie? under $200 and is this headphone best suggestion for me? @@minimaleffort6847 hehe, really good deal for you. Tell me is it good card for your hd700 ? I bought recently hd650 and looking for good sound card. Do you recommend this one?
Output impedance does not mean it can handle 1 ohm headphones... which I'm sure it can that is in no way what the term means. In a way similar to the way higher impedance headphones handle audio differently than a lower impedance headphone a lower impedance output is something similar. It is able to be tighter and have more control over the drivers. I have in the past owned an amplifier that lets you switch between output impedance and from what I could hear a higher output impedance makes the bass looser and bloom into the mid bass. I think it ranged from 1ohm/10ohm/20ohm. Please do the research before talking us through features... Also having a super high output frequency and bit rate isn't that big of a deal. CD's quality is considered some of the best quality audio you can hear that is digital and it's only 16bit and 44.1khz.
i will buy on 1 month the reason is i don't want to give to much money from a headset and with this thing will beat even the xear 3d headset or logitech g pro news this thing will help me out and i don't need to buy another hiress headset even i have xonar ae i want to fell the sound on best possible mode !!! after years i will try for the first time something hiress dac !!
The people buying this aren’t using $1000 studio headphones nor are they going to hear the difference between 16/48 and 32/384. It’s just unnecessary for a gaming dac amp.
I disagree, high end audio is being used by TONS of streamers. Ninja uses the DT990 pro, Timthetatman uses the Audio Technica AT700X, I personally use the Beyerdynamic MMX300's, and I know more gamers who are using high end headphones for gaming. There is a massive market for this type of amp. -Whiteshadow
TRUgaming My point was that 32/384 is complete overkill for a gaming dac amp.My current setup is my Sennheiser hd 660s and smsl m6. Which the m6 also happens to accept dsd (32/384) audio. Switching between 16/48 to 32/384 listening to my flac playlist and I cant tell the difference between the two.
@@jjpablo I agree on the front of not being able to hear the difference in some things, but with Dolby decoding I can definitely hear a difference between the two. I feel 32/384 has advantages of being future proofed. -Whiteshadow
TRUgaming Dolby Digital can only do up to 16/48. 32/384 is only capable through usb and limited to just stereo. Enough about that, the bi-amp the g6 has is quite intriguing. I assume it helps make imaging more accurate as well as widening the sound stage. I purchased the product yesterday and can’t wait to see how the bi-amp performs in comparison to a normal amp.

There will be more clarity and overall presence. You'll also be able to drive sets with requiring more ohms -Whiteshadow
how well does it compared to the x7?
nice review btw!
It's basically a compact X7, the X7 can of course do more and provide a tad more "power", but the G6 amp is very very detailed and can power pretty much any headset you can think of. -Whiteshadow
@@TRUgamingllc thx, i just ordered it! xD
@@TRUgamingllcPlease Does surround sound 7.1 work on Xbox one x ?
@@saud7733 no only on PC, you need the software for 7.1 to work, but you can utilize Dolby Atmos on Xbox
@@TRUgamingllc thanks for answering mixamp vs Saund blaster g6 ? For the Xbox one x ? I care about your opinion
whats this like vs the ZXR?
This G6 is worlds better than the ZXR, and the ZXR is grrrrreat!
Can this device simultaneously play xbox and pc audio through it? (If I watch twitch or listen to music on my pc while gaming on xbox)
No it can only do one or the other -Whiteshadow
@@TRUgamingllc just for future reference i found out it can play xbox and pc audio simultaneously. Just with usb audio from pc and optical from xbox. Incase anyone else asks!
Does that mean you could also use the Xbox app on pc for party chat? And still have the sound from your Xbox.
@@mtnmankeith9069 Yes you can still use the Xbox party chat app- Whiteshadow
Sweet! Thanks!
How about this one versus Sennheiser GSX 1000 ?
The GSX 1000 doesn't work with consoles at all.
3 years later , sill no xbox support. nice review
have you the beyerdynamic mmx300 32ohm or 600ohm?? or what would you recommend with the g6
nice video, love the fact if gamer for gamer recommend good hardware
They're only 32ohms. I recommend any headphone really for the G6, this amp is incredible. My top recommendation would be: Beyerdynamic DT990 pro, Beyerdynamic MMX300 ver 2, Sennheiser GSP 600, Sennheiser HD600, Audio Technica Ath700X, Audio Technica m50x, Vmoda Crossfade m-100. -Whiteshadow
I order in the next daysmy Beyerdynamics mmx300 2gen. and I think there will only be very small details between 32 and 600. but that is complaining at a high level.
I wanted to buy the xg5 today until I saw your video.
thanks for the video

U Bie would a DT770 be good with this for gaming?
no battery like the E5? then its not true portable
also is this portable i.e battery built in?
It's portable, but you'd need some way to power it via USB. No battery inside of it. -Whiteshadow
One last question on the g6 is there a button/nob that lets you change the amount of game audio vs party audio?
You can adjust this via software on console or PC. -Whiteshadow
Got this and DT 990 Pro’s ordered :)
do you like it?
@@SoyDuckHot Ya been using them a year, love them.
this or the sennheiser gsx 1000
Both are great, but I prefer the G6 simply because of the separation between channels and overall clarity. -Whiteshadow
@@TRUgamingllc Is G6 amp/dac in one ? will G6 works good with DT 1990 pro ?
I got one can't get it to charge up and the X only stays red. 😞😕
It can't charge. It doesn't have a battery. -Whiteshadow
Wow i had it plugged in waiting for the big X color to change when it got fully charged. 😞😲😂😒😕
The 5 is a chargeable one yes? 😞
Jim Martin Nope. The color is RGB, which means YOU can change the color you want on the X. Same for the G5.
Hi, so if I plug this into my Xbox one it will then allow me to use my mmx300 like I do with my mix amp pro
This sound card does not support coms on Xbox because you have to connect it via optical cable, but it would still be a good choice for headphones like that because of how hi res this card is.
Is this better then the mixamp pro?
In my opinion it is, because it has a more powerful amplifier. -Whiteshadow
Will this give me 7.1 through usb? On my turtle beach elite atlas pro pc headset? Will subscribe if you reply. Even of you dont know...
If your budget is far beyond 250$ the
ridiculous expensive
HDV 820.
@@Epokz thanks for your reply, in my case I don't need the mic input. I'm really thinking about the Fiio K3. Hard to get my hands on Shiit or Mayflower products in France.
How it support 5.1 and 7.1 speakers? I only see 2 port :(
You can do that through the optical out port in the back, and plug that into a receiver with optical in that uses 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup.

This or the GSX 1000 for PC gaming use only?
it depend of the impedence of your headphone. Gsx1000 fall of when it come to power up headphone past 150 ohm with above 100Spl/mW
does anyone know how does this compare to the mayflower arc ?
There shouldn't be any quality drop through optical. -Whiteshadow
@@TRUgamingllc I paused the video because I'm at work and came back to finish it... and you already replied... just for that interaction I'm subscribing... but isnt optical not able to process 32 bit? Because I'm quickly finding that this g6 here will get me the best possible quality of audio for my little old console... it was either this... the x7... or the mayflower arc...
@@themannwithaplan optical can do 24bit which is more than enough for high resolution. 32bit is honestly not needed when console gaming. The Xbox can process 24bit but nothing more so the G6 with the higher quality amp should sound pretty great! -Whiteshadow
How did you get party chat to work exactly? If you haven’t bought a g6 yet. How do you know how to get party chat to work?
Will the sound blasterX G6 paired with the blue yeti and Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO work on the Xbox one?
The blue yeti won't pass through this as the yeti is a USB mic, but you could plug that directly into the Xbox. The amp and dt990s however will work fine- Whiteshadow
If I use the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO with the g6 and have to take off the three quarter inch adapter will I be loosening sound quality?
Not at all, it'll still be just as good. -Whiteshadow
This or the gsx 1000 for mainly PC gaming?
@@Dargonante would you recommend me to buy this one? And with which headphones
After a few days, I will buy a new headphone because I wanna jumping to another level of music so Beyerdynamic DT 990 250ohm I think its best option for me (from inexperienced person view ) why? because it's a lot cheaper than other professional headphones, someone advises me about it said it's the best option for Listening music better and I saw the dt990 in many studios for a lot's of professional musicians and heard its need amp to run in a laptop like my laptop(Acer predator 15 gaming )

So I’m going to buy this today for $50. It’s replacing my JDS Labs OBJ/Dac. I’m pairing with the Sennheiser HD700. I mainly use my current dac for pc gaming but I feel like the sound isn’t as clean (comparing this to G5 I had before). Wish me luck
Where did you bought it for 50$ ?
Krzysztof Michalik bought off Craiglist. The guy said they gave it to him as a gift at CES and he had no use for it
@@minimaleffort6847 hehe, really good deal for you. Tell me is it good card for your hd700 ? I bought recently hd650 and looking for good sound card. Do you recommend this one?
Krzysztof Michalik yes I would recommend it.
Any idea about the mic quality / compression issue?
Gonna connect this to my magni 3 just because I'll like my schiit stack
are these better than the magni 3+?
this is a dac+amp Note..
Did you bought any of these? what can u say about it ? and if so, which headphone you used with
i will buy on 1 month the reason is i don't want to give to much money from a headset and with this thing will beat even the xear 3d headset or logitech g pro news this thing will help me out and i don't need to buy another hiress headset even i have xonar ae i want to fell the sound on best possible mode !!! after years i will try for the first time something hiress dac !!
Cool story...
