I really love the fact that DJI did not exclude the useful features like auto tracking and auto return to home. This thing is half the price and size of the Mavic Pro which now makes it a more sensible proposition for a novice like myself. My only concern is the battery life which is 13-16 minutes compared to the 26-29 minutes on the Mavic Pro. Despite that, I'll be watching the Spark closely as I consider my options. Same boat as you man! I think it makes more sense to just get the Mavic. We can call this one Mavic Jnr :) This would be a perfect drone for instances where you just want that casual shot, Mavic obviously is more professional with better range etc. FUCK man I need a drone :(
TheLifeOnHigh i only get about 10-15 out of the mavic but i land it at 50% to store batteries. can easily get 20 but thats pushing it depending on environment. best ti have multiple batteries and let sit for 10 minutes to cool down anyway in between flights.
I'll get an additional battery standard. I'd go nuts if I only had one battery. Imagine missing that perfect shot cause your batt dies....gotta have that second. I'm getting one...I'm tired of watching videos on drones, I wanna make my own :D

I still like to go flying but it's just grown tiresome lugging a big backpack when I go hiking and there's no room left for anything else in the pack. This drone is small enough to stick in your pocket if need be. It is nearly as fast as the Mavic and a smaller footprint is perfect for filming things close up or weaving though the trees. I built a 250 size racing drone out a couple of years ago and equipped it with a Dji NAza flight controller and it was so much fun to fly at lower altitude around the park.

Great review, those pictures and video shots made me convinced to get it. But I will wait for the 2nd gen or when the price goes down to about half (too much here in Canada). As a beginner device, the battery life is far too low for my needs - trail biking sessions. I hope DJI can deliver an upgrade to make it last 20+ minutes at 1080p@60/30fps with a slightly cheaper price or affordable for Canadians. Lighter than 250g would be an added bonus, but I don't think we'll see any drones that same the same features as this with 20+ minutes of battery weigh that less for at least 5 years.

My only niggle is the fact the controller is an expensive option, and not included in the price. If you got the complete package for £500 Dji would shift shed loads of these.
Thanks for the quick review. I just pre-ordered the spark. I'm excited to get the increased range with the RC. I have a Yuneec Breeze now, which is a good drone and takes nice pics and video, but the limited range has become more of an issue. The more comfortable I got with the drone the more range i wanted.

Do you know if the Gesture mode and the new IFMs for the Spark will be made available to the Mavic via an update? Also, what do I really lose by only having a 2-Axis Gimbal? I just got my first drone being a spark and LOVE it.. The ONLY issue is the battery. I been getting 12 minutes which isn’t bad but once up it’s hard to come down lol. Can’t wait for all my goodies to come in from Amazon ☺️
@@adig3801 Bruh I'd say 2-3 batteries. 3 Is perfect for me especially when I'm travelling and need to fly out several times in a day. Check out my newer vids to see the underrated quality and length of flight lol.
LOL I feel you. You just wanna keep flying but drones never have the longest flight times. I found that 3 batteries are perfect for a day trip. That's when I can get enough cinematic shots for my vids. Check em out!

How much is the dedicated spark tx cost? I wish dji included it with the spark in the first place.. Kinda sucks you have to buy it separately
