- In a recent Russian interview with Vestnik MMA, Petr Yan spoke on many topics including his upcoming opponent at UFC 280 Sean O'Malley. In regards to the recent Sean O'Malley vs Petr Yan fight, Yan said that he couldn't made judgments about the fight itself and it's controversial finish, but that he did see both guys as the types of fighters that he would have to demolish.
Yan also shared his thoughts on what may happen to Sean O'Malley if he ever visits Yan's Siberian hometown of Omsk, Russia.

This fight will be a huge step-up for "Suga" Sean O'Malley as he has thus far been on a very controlled and strategic rise up the UFC ranks. Petr Yan is the former UFC Bantamweight Champion and considered by many to be the best Bantamweight in the world.

They might give him a haircut 😂
That's the classic Yan humor right there haha
@@sambosays9799 Low hangin fruit? Well everybody can't be so good at trash talks as Chael or Connor haha.
After petr couldn’t beat aljo I lost a little faith in him. He needs to restore that iron clad aura he had before the aljo loss.
Something was definetley good with him that day im not even neccesarily a fan of his but i could see it he hasnt fought that sloppy in a while
Aljos physical tools surprise all of his opponents
@@venkatganesh6740 idk man aljos not that good if he dosent lose to tj hell lose the next one for sure ollie is another one i cant imagine stays champ for too long they just arent as good as their competition along with the fact that they both have potential matchups that are horrible fights for their styles
@@SuperMelphis aljo has a significant grappling advantage against just about everyone
Exactly aljo one of the best grapplers in that division yan had to worry about take downs and everything. He won’t have to with Sean o Malley
Lets go peter 🔥🔥🔥
Been a fan of Petr since he lost his belt. Can't wait to see him come back and butcher all these clowns
Not much of a fan
@@microtechmachineshop yeah you like them conor highlights dont ya
Rip O’Malley
We'll see. There are several 135'ers creeping up the ranks who can really hinder Yan's performances. And, Cejudo is coming back so that's just another guy who can take the belt.
Very deep weight class for sure! Yan definitely has what it takes to be champ again but he also has holes in his game that need to be fixed.
@@sambosays9799 He's very skilled, but I don't see him handling Cejudo or Umar (who will likely make a big jump in rankings soon).
Yan is solid all-around but the pressure these other fighters put on on is a different level. They're not just standing waiting to turn the tide methodically. They're always threatening with their elite wrestling, and are very capable on their feet, and most importantly they haven't shown to lose focus as Yan has in a few fights.
A comparison that is actually telling is Yan vs. Aldo, and Cejudo vs. Marlon. Aldo was actually piecing Yan up till he got hurt of the ground and gassed as we've seen several times over, and Yan still finished him almost 2 rounds past that (5th).
Cejudo put soo much pressure on Marlon, and mixed up his abilities to take him out in the third round which is very impressive given that Marlo is a dynamic striker (moreso than Aldo), and he beat Aldo on the feet when they fought.
The pressure is different man, and Cejudo is a better finisher. Umar is also a big problem. We already know how those Degestanis fight, and having the whole Nurmagomedov clan in his corner is huge.
I think people will be surprised to see O'Malley have some success. It's a bit silly to say Yan will "destroy" him when Sean is a very effective mobile fighter who's has great range, and doesn't stand around to get hit like Corey or Aljo Or Jimmie. Footwork matters. I won't be surprised if Sean wins the 3 round bout. I do want to see Yan continue to fight top 5 guys though. I like his style. I simply don't think it can match other's in his division.
O Malley has a long history of leaving fights on a stretcher
No he doesn’t.
@@ko2ni yes he does,,watch him fight Andre Suckermouth or Chito Vera
Twice is not « a long history » buddy
@@ko2ni yes it is,,name ANY other fighter in UFC history who left on a stretcher more than once,,,the stretcher is standing by every time Sean fights
Why doesn't this have more views?...oh yeah the google algorithm
Sean will be the king of Siberia
There is a ton of uncertainty in this match but one thing we all know for sure... I would open hand slap this dude .
I feel bad for sean tho we all know peter is a savage in boxing
Got to respect him for taking the fight!
Petr gonna be surprised.
Your gonna be surprised
Bruh said that about aljo
I like Petr Yan and Suga Sean but feel like Petr will put Suga on the back-foot and beat him w cardio.
I think the fact that the fight is only 3 rounds makes it much more unpredictable! In 5 rounds Petr has a big advantage but in 3 rounds much more is up in the air!
@@sambosays9799 oh thanks... I was thinking it was a 5 round main event. 3 actually gives Suga a little better odds
Yan fights good in 3 rounds aswell
Scared for Sean tbh
Yan shouldn't be talking about crushing anyone after his last performance
For sure it wasn’t his best performance but clearly he was robbed
@@damskowest
He was fighting against coward that was running, sitting on his ass, avoiding exchanges. After that decision, I lost interest to ufc' fights. Boxing is more honest. Cowards don't usually win there
@@user-cz1pi6ji2r idk about that, boxing can be even worse
@@MrRobjs83
Decisions sometimes incredibly unfair. To my mind, Conelo vs GGG - an example. But in boxing you can't win by avoiding exchanges and sitting on your ass. That's my point
I think it was a good performance but disappointing to his high standards for sure.
O'malley by k o !
Sugar is going to punt Yan..🤣
Yan is getting picked apart by O’Malley
